Well Analog Horror AU is a stretch considering analog horror comes in a very specific medium but y'know screw you this story i came up with is close enough to your average analog horror web series. So

things to note:

There are NO ABILITIES in this au. but there's something slightly similar that takes it's place. Not every ability user in BSD will be having that power

In this world humanity is being terrorized by these otherworldly entities (calling them strays bc that's funny) that have been let in through [THE BOOK] which is a gateway to the otherworld because mankind tried play god and fucked around and found out too close to the sun

So abilities users are actually humans that have been possessed by the strays that leaked into our world through [THE BOOK] and are used to cause chaos on Earth.

Strays tend to lock onto humans that experienced unimaginable pain bc their soul juice tastes yummier.

The Special Division for Unusual Incidents is a top secret government organization that's dedicated to destroying [THE BOOK] and ending the stray threat.

But the Special Division is massively shady and inadvertently causes more problems than it solves

Dazai is not quite possessed by a stray like you'd think ;^)

The Armed Detective Agency is a private investigation company. They're just normal people. That is until Dazai joins and everything starts going insane. Soon their cases devolve from normal crimes to being tied up in infohazard type mysteries.

The Paranormal Guild is a supernatural hunting secret society in America. Them and the DOA want to get [THE BOOK] to destroy it and end the stray invasion.

So the story focuses on the resident photographer of Armed Detective Agency, Atsushi Nakajima beginning a secret investigation after he accidentally discovers that his coworker, Osamu Dazai, may not be human.

It starts when Dazai and Atsushi are investigating a crime scene from one of a series of horrific massacre where people were found completely torn apart and shredded. Turns out that the serial killings are linked to the Mori Home, a shady clinic that's been tied to several missing persons cases, those of which including Akutagawa and Kyouka. And Dazai has a suspicious connection to Dr Mori.

After this Dazai's mask begins to slip and starts acting really erratic and creepy. Soon enough Dazai brings a strange ghostlike girl to the Agency, and it turns out to be the missing Kyouka Izumi.

Atsushi eventually begins to get worried about Dazai, worry also turns into suspicion because Dazai seems to be involved with the missing persons cases, and starts to investigate into his past to find out what his DEAL is. Which leads him (and the rest of the ADA) down the rabbit hole of government conspiracies and the monsters from an alternate dimension and the Mori Home with all its shadiness.

Hiii! Thank you for the ask, I’m genuinely sorry for taking like a million years to answer it. It’s a really awesome ask, so don’t worry, it wasn’t pushy or weird! i don’t have a lot of coherent thoughts as it is a concept just floating around in my head, but it’s very similar to your analog horror chuuya

what i mean is chuuya clones fill most of the roles of characters, there is a shounen coded protagonist chuuya(combined shinji and asuka), there is a rei chuuya that is aware that the other kids are all just clones, there is a misato chuuya, the eldest clone very similar to actual chuuya in bsd and is an alcoholic

all the pilot kids were masks for ‘protection’ and in some way it is that way because the clones will destabilize if they know of one another’s existence, how much is unknown some will suffer a mild existential crisis and some will go insane and kill themselves unable to handle this knowledge(the only one seemingly neutral to this is rei!chuuya for which he is praised by n)

other headcanons:

-all the kids share one singular human soul

-n as gendo and murase as kaji(not implying him as a love interest)

-one of the angels fused with a clone and created arahabaki leading to an impact(which one? don’t ask me i haven’t thought it all out yet)

-protag!chuuya being the most human one gets to go to school(yayy!)

-the flags as shinji’s school friends and toji specifically is shirase

-a very strong lack of romance in this au it’s either because i don’t like the romance in ngl or none of the characters fit properly(secret third option is that i am aromantic and don’t care enough)

-an akagi dazai? perhaps? i need your thoughts on this

-this au does not follow the events of nge one too one, it’s more inspired than anything

28/05/2010 After Ranpo debriefed us, we started combing through CCTV footage for any idea of where Akutagawa-kun may have gone but no luck. It’s like the kid never existed. Technically I’m still assigned to the other case, so now that my camera is fixed I’ll probably be heading out with Dazai. Oh, speaking of him, Dazai finally texted me today, after all the silent treatment! He asked if I had some extra space in my dorm to sleep in. It’s a strange request, but I want to be a supportive friend, so if Dazai’s dorm is inhabitable, then I’ll gladly roll out a futon for him. N. Atsushi

It seems the victims were impaled quite rapidly. The material they were hung from is a blend of polyester and… *sniffs* wool. It’s in long strips, seemingly torn from a longer sheet. It’s the kind of textile you’d find on a winter coat. It’s far too warm for this sort of cloth.

How do you figure?

Oh my coat is made of the same material.

Anyways, the way these bodies have been sliced looks like they were cut by the fabric itself. On some of these dismembered parts, there are traces fibers along the serrated edge.

Mr. Dazai has been in and out of the office since Monday. I’m kind of worried he’s avoiding me, because I tried to speak with him and he just brushed past me. Maybe he’s just stressed from this case. With this job as a crime scene photographer, I’ve seen some truly horrific sights but I have to agree, there’s no way a human being could have caused this sort of brutality. The problem is, that it just makes no sense. I wonder how he’ll figure this out. In other, better news, Junichirou will be coming to the office after his school tomorrow. I want to see if he can help me fix my camera. It’s been really finicky since Monday, and I can’t figure out why. Maybe the internal components got a bit corrupted or something. In any case, I hope it’s not too difficult of a repair.

somebody asked abt what chuuya was up to in the analog horror au. Answer is, he never gets to escape the government. but since i'm letting up on the weird art for the rest of the night, just know that he occasionally hangs out with these two.
