ANOTHER LONG POST for the Bridgerton over-analysis corner! SEASON 3 TRAILER & PROMO ANALYSIS

I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING!!

THAT IS VIOLET BRIDGERTON! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST "NON-INTRO" SHOT WITH FRANCESCA!

The first shot of any main character in the entire trailer is this one. Francesca is dancing with a suitor, the camera pushes forward and directs the eye right to Violet who is standing right in the middle, but with an unknown man in front of her.

Oh, I think there are going to be so many parallels between these two this season--especially in terms of romance. They have mostly been seen together or with "suitors" during all these promos and/or in direct comparison/association with one another.

MORE EVIDENCE:

SECOND SHOT of either of them: they are together--and are shown to be equals here, as compared to how Violet was when she presented Daphne or Eloise to the Queen:

Violet, with her other two daughters, was standing BEHIND them! (Also on their right side.) Now she's on the left, standing at Francesca's side--presenting them as equals.

Also, she isn't matching with Francesca like she was Eloise and Daphne--her outfit for this event changed slightly between the first two seasons (take note of the collar and crown), but has now changed dramatically. She at first presented herself as a fellow debutante (take note of the white dress and the gloves), but now is sporting a silver dress with long sleeves with clear grecian influence.

Violet has CHANGED, she isn't a background to or support for her daughter, she is her own person in front of the whole ton. She is also being "presented" in a way, but as this new self.

There is a new Viscountess, more of her children are married and leaving, and (as of Queen Charlotte we know that) she has had a lot of realizations about her marriage and sexuality. The world she knew as Viscountess and wife to Edmund is slowly changing, fading away to something new that she is beginning to embrace.

I think we will see her come more into her own, and not just as a mother or widow--this will be reflected in Francesca, who is going to struggle with finding a relationship that lives up to her mother & father's (and those of her siblings), especially watching her mother finally start to move on.

Right after this sequence is a sequence of Violet and her presumed new love interest, directly associating the two--they are also linked with the narration "what is the primary force that guides us along our paths?" A question I feel will be explored by the both of them.

It seems as if Violet is accepting this new love this season. Francesca, on the other hand, will struggle with romance this season. Every time we have seen her on her own, or with or having just spoken to suitors she seems unsure, worried.

Violet watches her sit at this ball (the Four Seasons one) and takes a breath and sighs in an interesting way--sort of knowingly but resigned(?).

It is also interesting to note within this dynamic that this is Francesca's first season, but not Violet's--as a mother or debutante.

TRAILER ANNOUNCEMENT:

Also, when looking at their appearances in the trailer announcement, it is interesting to see the difference in how they both were portrayed.

Violet is looking, then pulls back to look on in question, as if realizing something, but is curious for more. Francesca opens it and looks unsure again, twisting her mouth. I feel like this is reflective of how their seasons will be.

I just find the clear connection between their stories that the trailer in particular wants us to take note of to be very interesting. It is exciting to see how they will both grow/change. Especially being mother and daughter, which is a dynamic that has been explored to an extent in this show (thinking of Daphne and Violet in season 1, but even that didn't feel fleshed out), but not much. _______________

BUT ANYWAY to others who have read my other Bridgerton posts, omg thanks for chatting and indulging me in this.

I just finished a big film shoot for a project so this has been a nice reprieve from the stress of that.

Throwing this out into the universe simply so I can say “I knew it!”…

The next season will be Violet and Edmund’s love story with flash forwards of Violet finding a lovaaa. I think they set us up for it & frankly a season 2 surrounding Charlotte and George would be kind of sad. They gave us their ending under that beautiful bed & I’d rather they focus on another couple and have the King & Queen pop in and out in happy moments. Would love to see some of Lady Danbury’s many bedmates too bc she deserves all the orgasms.

You know what if they reverse the what is love conversation on us.

Instead of Colin asking what love is from either kathony, Violet, or Daphne, we have a scene between him and Francesca with her asking him. She's nervous because even though her courtship with John Stirling is going well, fantastic even, and most likely heading towards marriage, there's still that small voice of doubt in her head.

So maybe she seeks out different family members with the question. While they all give her good advice, there's still that voice in her head, so she goes to the one person she knows about who had a failed engagement. Maybe Francesca feels like she needs to hear what love doesn't feel like. Or maybe by this point, polin is already engaged, and Francesca wants to know the difference of Colin's feelings between his relationship with Marina and with Penelope. Or possibly Colin just so happens to stumble upon her, and she asks her question.

Wanting to comfort his sister, Colin attempts to answer her question, and we slowly see him come to the realization that he's in love with Penelope.

I think it be cute. If they are planning to pair them up as the next sibling pair, I could see this being a potential route they could take. It would also leave a nice potential pathway come Francesca's season when she's struggling with her feelings towards Michael. Maybe she'll go to Colin once more, and his can also lead to him telling Michael to just marry Francesca already.

In the, “Gardens in Bloom,” episode of Queen Charlotte there’s something that caught my eye in the scene where Lady Danberry is looking for that birthday hat that Lord ledger made her. When she opens her desk, there is a white feather which stands out to me as if they had a spotlight on it. Maybe Lady Danbury will take over writing Whistledown going forward because the queen wants to control the gossip that the ton hears and she has become accustomed to regularly gossip updates, so who better than her best friend to write appropriately influenced, anonymous, gossip secretly controlled by the crown itself?

Okay, thinking more about Cressida and new quotes about seeing more of her home life and why she is the mean girl she is. Also that she’s trying to do better. Also thoughts about Mrs. Cowper apparently being named Araminta and the theory that they are Sophie’s family… I don’t know where I’m going with this other than what if Cressida is basically bullied by her mother at home and it’s all she’s ever known and her mother also is horrible to her half sister/maid and she’s been an evil stepsister all this time but she has some growth/change and becomes more of an ally to said sister/maid…Cressida = Rosamund/Posy blend?

okay i know in the initial bridgerton book series has eloise end up with phillip, marina's husband, but what if instead, she ended up with marina? i know im far from the only one who has been speculating if she will be queer (and/or benedict) but that would be an interesting way to keep a similar storyline while allowing a wlw storyline. . .

Ways Shondaland could use having Polin be s3 to improve the story overall:

Open with the masquerade ball and establish Benedict/Sophie.

Francesca debuts and meets and marries John. Is introduced to Michael. More Francesca in general.

Benedict slowly becoming more and more despondent since dropping out of art school and losing his lady in silver. It’s actually a great opportunity to get him to where he was mentally at the party when he finds Sophie.

There better be some damn good resolution between Eloise and Penelope because I can not believe the Bridgerton’s would all turn a blind eye to the way Whistledown has affected the family without the backing of Colin AND Eloise.

Eloise broadening her horizons a bit, and not just with books, but I really like the idea of her getting out there and helping the world and realizing that she can make more of a difference through action, not just words.

Penelope better not pretend she didn’t hear Colin talking behind her back and act like nothing happened. I hope she’s Cold As Ice to that boy.

Colin better not just forgive and forget about Penelope’s actions as Whistledown. I better get some angst if they’re pushing the narrative ahead.

Show that Penelope is a beautiful and sexually attractive love interest in the same way as Daphne and Kate. I don’t want it toned down for the general audiences. Obviously I don’t want Nicola to film anything she isn’t comfortable with, but they better up the heat between them, I want to see Colin sweating for it.

No more Whistledown after this season and instead just focus on the stories. It’s added some intrigue, but it’s getting a bit tired, there are plenty of other ways at this point to add drama.

Time jump at some point in s3. Earlier on the better IMO.

If they combine stories, Benophie/Polin this season and Franchael/Philoise as s4 could work well.

So I have re read RMB and I realized that its not Colin who first learned about Penelope being Lady whistledown but it is instead Lady Danbury in the smythe- smithe musicale where Penelope, Eloise, Felicity, and Lady Danbury discuss the reason on why penny continuously attend the musicale despite it being unpleasant to the ears which lead the topic of lady whistledown being a soft hearted and kind person and Lady Danbury told Penelope "I think you could be lady whistledown" and then felicity and eloise shock as hell while penny though shocked managed to give a sly smile and turns the table to lady danbury once again accusing lady danbury of being lady whistledown.

I believe in that moment that Lady Danbury knows that it's Penelope who writes the whistledown columns, and she refuses to believe otherwise, which would justify the reaction she gave at the end of the book when colin introduced penelope as lady whistledown (aside ofc from the fact that she loathes cressida twombley nee cowper)

Okay. But what if season 3 opens with Colin traveling abroad and writing letters to Penelope only to receive a letter back from Penelope that says something like

Dear Mr. Bridgerton,

It is inappropriate for an unmarried lady to engage in a private correspondence with a gentleman of no relation. I must request that you do not write to me again.

And Colin is 😢 and frantically writing letters to Eloise to figure out whats going on. Eloise writes back super cryptically like

I have not seen Miss Penelope Featherington since the end of the London season. She appeared to be in good health.

And Colin is so bummed because he has all these THOUGHTS and FEELINGS that he wants to tell Penelope about his travels and he CAN'T! So he starts writing them all down in a journal...and that's how he figures out that he wants to be a travel writer.

I rather think that if Bridgerton S3 was to explore and delve into LW’s true identity… we MAY have a #Polin wedding mid-season (around episode 4 or 5) In order to put focus, work out, and resolve the conflict between the queen (and/or Cressida if they’d go down that route in the series too), to show that Colin “My Wife” Bridgerton does take his vows seriously and will find ways to help Penelope get out of this tight situation.

BUT! Despite being a romantic.. and despite Colin being my most favorite Bridgerton and being a Polin stan through and through.. I also want to see strong women banding as one to work out the LW issue.

It’s giving me strong #Peneloise redemption arc.

Or EVEN BETTER… #Peneloise + Lady Danbury plotting together.

Further, I think the showrunners wouldn’t necessarily uncover LW’s identity in the show this early because it IS the biggest series secret. I think it premature for them to let the entire Ton know about who LW is at this point in the series timeline.

I’d rather they do the storyline justice, do it VERY well, than do it fast. If a multiple season build-up and many close-calls are necessary until the inevitable “unmasking”…. So be it. 😈💪

in the previous seasons, the main ship has usually consisted of one of Lady Danbury’s wards and Violet Bridgerton’s kids. and the ladies themselves have, in some way, meddled in the relationships: their plan to marry the Duke and Daphne, their failed attempt at marrying Anthony and Edwina, etc.

nowww, fans of the book know that in rmb Lady Danbury sort of takes Penelope under her wing. and if the show decides to keep the aforementioned “shipper” duo in season 3, we’re going to definitely see it happening on screen, which mighttttttt mean that we will get, maybe?, a tiny revenge on Colin. becuase if Lady D and Violet team up, at some point, at some ball, Lady Danbury might point at Colin and go “what about him?” and Penelope might, should, go “he’s Colin. he does not count.”

Teenage Dream by Katy Perry- I heard this again on the radio the other day and I thought it was very Polin. Very sweet. Keeps with the childhood friends to lovers vibe.

Juice or About Damn Time by Lizzo- I mean, we have to have the Queen of Body Positivity on a Penelope season, right? They actually play Juice during the Bridgerton Experience and it does work on the violin. About Damn Time can really work with a Penelope confidence glow-up.

Everlasting Love by Love Affair- a classic love song

Private Eyes by Hall and Oates- I mean, either Colin following Penelope when she’s doing her Whistledown thing or the Ton trying to figure out who Whistledown is would work perfectly. (I’m an idiot who loves Hall and Oates, okay?)

Brutal by Olivia Rodrigo- This could be a season opener highlighting Pen and Colin’s struggles in the ton.

Kanthony wish list for S3+

The Kanthony that I want to see in Season 3 and beyond.

I want both of them to stay the same: like Violet notes, "sharp, quick, a little TOO exacting." The reason the epilogue is so great is because there is a healthy dose of tartness with the sweet, sweet, sweet.  Do NOT break this formula.

NO BABIES in their first year of marriage. They didn't get ANY sort of proper courtship, and we MUST see more of them just as a duo before introducing kids into the mix.  I am actively jealous of all of the friendship building Daphne and Simon got in S1 pre-marriage AND the personal-garbage-excavation they got post-marriage, too. I want ALL of that for future Kate and Anthony.

If they don't do a DEEP dive into unraveling the Dowager Viscountess-Kate-Anthony dynamic, I will be FULLY disappointed. We the viewers have borne witness for TWO YEARS into the dysfunctional quasi-parental, quasi-CO-parental dynamic that Violet and Anthony have sunk into over the ten years since Edmund died. Maybe if Anthony had wedded Edwina, Violet’s day-to-day wouldn’t have changed that much after all, but do we really expect our KATE SHARMA to enter this family and not fully make her mark on it?  

I want to see Anthony, Edwina, and Mary figure out what their long-term relationships are going to be with each other. What kind of mother-in-law is Mary going to be, and will she earn her place as Kanthony Baby #4′s namesake? How are Edwina and Anthony going to deal with each other in the future?  He treated her really kind of crappily -- will THEY ever have a reckoning with each other?

Don't get me wrong, I want smooshy-whooshy loved up Kanthony TOO, if only to get more gifs to illustrate my unhinged speculation posts.

But S2 was the story of unique, soul-forming lust breaking down the walls that Kate and Anthony had put up. I want to see what's BEHIND those walls now, darn it.
