Clouseau‚ complete with brownface accent and head wobble. in 1988. a genuinely shocking #decision and audaciously offensive considering this is a film actually made in India and with a largely Indian cast; absolutely mind #boggling stupidity and Brill's deeply insensitive performance kills the film stone dead whenever he's onscreen. to be approached with #caution‚ if at all.

Watchmen is a American neo-noir superhero film based on the 1986–87 DC Comics limited series of the same name by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Directed by Zack Snyder.

A dark and dystopian deconstruction of the superhero genre, the film is set in an alternate history in the year 1985 at the height of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, as a group of mostly retired American superheroes investigates the murder of one of their own before uncovering an elaborate and deadly conspiracy, while their moral limitations are challenged by the complex nature of the circumstances.

In an alternate United States, beginning in 1939 during the fading Interwar period, a team of costumed crime-fighters is formed – the ���Minutemen”. The 1960s Vietnam War era through the mid-1980s Cold War sees the rise of the “Watchmen” team of heroes, whose existence dramatically affects world events. In 1959, after his apparent death in an Intrinsic Field Generator accident, Dr. Jon Osterman remakes his body as a god-like being dubbed “Doctor Manhattan”. The U.S. government utilizes his powers to win the Vietnam War and gain a strategic advantage over the Soviet Union which, by 1985, threatens thermonuclear war. The Comedian suppresses evidence of the Watergate scandal. By overwhelming public support, the 22nd Amendment is repealed, allowing President Richard Nixon to win a third term.

As anti-vigilante sentiment sweeps the nation, coupled with a nationwide police strike, the Keene Act is passed in 1977, declaring all “costumed adventuring” and “vigilantism” illegal. While most heroes like Daniel Dreiberg and Laurie Jupiter retire, Doctor Manhattan and the Comedian become government agents, and Rorschach continues to operate outside the law.

Sypnosis: When an newlywed American couple goes to India on their honeymoon, little do they realize that they were about to go on the adventure of their life time. A ruby, back from the ages of the Indian Maharajas has been stolen and placed in the backpack of the Americans. When the bad guys realize this, they kidnap the wife.. Now the husband and his Indian friend (played by a famous Tamil Indian actor) must go out to save the wife. Can't even pretend like it's a surprise given that title and the fact that uhhh I've seen it before.. #Anyway. I'm all for parodies and spoof movies but I think the key issue here is that the film just needs to be like. 40% better lmao #It's fine! It's kind of fun and very dumb! But it needs to be more fun! It starts fairly strong; the script is sharp and the exposition #Dump from the US military is delightfully absurd. Sadly things settle into a steady rhythm of obvious jokes and low hanging slapstick #Setpieces. A late stage appearance by Barbeau does inject a little life into proceedings (she's clearly having a huge amount of fun) but #Tbh it's a bit of a limp past the finish line. A few good moments and surprisingly committed performances from the leads can't make up for #The fact that this just doesn't quite go far enough in embracing the stupid and the crazy.

Bonhams, Deutscher + Hackett, Menzies and Sotheby's combined alone will offer more than $ 30 million worth of art in this end of year round.

To date in 2017, $92 million dollars worth of art have sold at auction. This means that the Australian art auction market is well on track to beat last years' $106.5 million for the second best turn-over since 2007, when total sales at auction were $175.6 million.

More offerings and works new to market would have helped this growth, with collectors prepared to spend bigger for the best works on offer.

Sotheby's last auction of the year presents 82 carefully selected lots, with rare colonial, impressionist, modernist and modern treasures among them.

View them personally in Melbourne from 8 to 12 November, at 41 Exhibition Street.

In Sydney, you can inspect the works from 16 to 21 November at 30 and 34 Queen Street, Woollahra.
