Am I crying of joy and does my heart jump into my chest like and cocainated kangooroo because my childhood imaginary husband has winning a fucking Oscar after so much years in the pit of despair ?!
My Best of 2022 is a series of annual lists in which I pick the best of the best from 2022, all leading up to my official picks for My Top 10 Films of 2022.
Let this be known... despite very much being locked in their respective positions at the top of my list, I will still be cheering for Brendan Fraser come Oscar night. That being said, Farrell’s performance in The Banshees of Inisherin is better, and not only by a little. He brings the sadness of his character to life with heart-aching beauty and balances obvious contentedness and buried longing with a flawless sense of simplicity that continuously takes your breath away. Fraser brings all of The Whale’s empathy with his performance, and tackles the physical aspects of his performances with a tired sense of frustration and defeat. Fine, they’re closer to a tie, but I really do think Farrell is better, and if he does take the Oscar I won’t be mad. But how great would it be to see Fraser take it, huh?? Anyway, let’s move on. Ralph Fiennes is terrifyingly unpredictable throughout The Menu, and I left the film wanting more, even though I loved every second of what we got. Tom Cruise takes a character he played over 30 years ago and seamlessly concludes his arc with every bit of determined cockiness and controlled recklessness as he started it with. And Austin Butler delivers a star-making performance as the King of Rock ‘n Roll, Elvis Presley, in a film as messy and gaudy and vapid as the man and his music was. Seriously, though, Butler is damn good, and embodies Presley’s insecurities as perfectly as he does his garish showmanship.
The rest are either wonderfully weird (6, 8 & 9) or sublimely sincere (7 & 10), and all make their films better because of it. Here they are…
My Top 10 Performances by a Lead Actor in 2022!
1. Colin Farrell in The Banshees of Inisherin
2. Brendan Fraser in The Whale
3. Ralph Fiennes in The Menu
4. Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick
5. Austin Butler in Elvis
6. Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
7. Tom Hanks in A Man Called Otto
8. Adam Driver in White Noise
9. Daniel Radcliffe in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
10. Gabriel LaBelle The Fabelmans
Honorable Mentions: Daniel Craig in Glass Onion; Daniel Kaluuya in Nope; Mark Rylance in The Outfit; Alexander Skarsgård in The Northman; Diego Calva in Babylon.
Cait #17. Personally, I think that outfit and look should score higher as well as a few others which are way better than the first 10. Still, she made the list which is good to see.
Thanks for the message, Anon. 😃 I loved her 2020 ensemble… whilst never losing sight of fashion sense’s subjectivity (a sentiment that really hits home this London Fashion Week 😖).

93 Of The Best Oscars Dresses Of All Time
From Barbra Streisand's exquisite Arnold Scassi pantsuit to Halle Berry in Elie Saab, we've collected the best Oscars dresses of all time.
For many, the Oscars awards ceremony is hotly anticipated for its choice of winners. Cinephiles discuss intently if Brendan Fraser's comeback role in The Whale will nab him Best Actor In A Leading Role, or if Paul Mescal will pip him to the post. Others tune in for the meme-making cultural moments, be it a slap heard around the world, or a calamitous misreading of 'Moonlight' as 'La La Land' (it could happen to anyone, right?).
But for us, and we suspect you too, it's the sport of red carpet dressing that keeps us coming back for more. Having the ability to promote (or demote) a near-unknown to a leading lady in the blink of a ballgown, the power of a stellar styled look cannot be understated. Be it Audrey Hepburn in Givenchy in 1954, Michelle Williams in Vera Wang in 2006, or Lupita Nyong'o in Prada there have been some truly marvellous -dare we say history-making - gowns worn by the best actors in the world on the night of the Academy Awards.
So devoted are we to the best dressed stars of the red carpet, ahead of the 96th Academy Awards (taking place on March 10 2024) we've gone through each and every one of them to find the 93 best Oscar dresses ever worn. You're welcome!

Remember… Irish actress Caitriona Balfe looked stunning — as per usual — on the red carpet at the 2020 Oscars in Valentino Haute Couture! The 40-year-old newlywed wore a unique outfit that involved a dress and a blouse when she walked the carpet at her first Academy Awards. She stunned in the black, fishtail-style gown which fell straight down her body in an extremely flattering style. But the strapless dress wasn’t the star of the show: it was the sheer pink blouse she wore over the top! The high-neck blouse was made of a very light material, and fell down to her hips. It also featured a gorgeous, oversized bow which she wore to the left of her neck. Stunning! The model-turned-actress accessorized with silver stud earrings and a matching silver ring and bracelet. Caitriona slicked her beautiful brunette tresses back into a tight bun near the nape of her neck, and polished her look with a bold red lipstick, and red nail polish. What a star! — Hollywood Life
I don’t usually post but with the latest events happening this year, I cant help but feel so happy to live and be alive! We have Brendan Fraser having his comeback. Pedro Pascal, a humble hardworking self-made actor getting big lead roles! Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh finally getting the recognition and praise they deserve. Hayden Christensen and now Ahmed Best being appreciated and redeemed from all the hate they got. Its like the world is healing idk but I love whats happening! 😭🥺
Seeing these wins from these beautiful people who have also gone through alot, I feel a little better knowing in time, some wrongs that happened or had been done to you, will become right again. Eventually everything will be alright again and you will be happier and surrounded with loving friends or family. :)
This is getting long but I just wanna tell myself that whenever I get anxious again, I’ll say “If they made it I can make it as well!”

The actor, who portrayed physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, in "Oppenheimer," said he was "overwhelmed" to have won the award.
"I'm a very proud Irishman standing here tonight," he said. "We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb and, for better or for worse, we're all living in Oppenheimer's world, so I would really like to dedicate this to peacemakers everywhere."
