Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [18: Dinner Talk]
Dinner started as the day got later. We all gathered in the cafeteria like usual to talk with one another and eat. Some of us weren’t there at the moment and others left once they had their food, but that didn’t get in the rest of our way.
Tumblr media
“Hey, so are we like...gonna talk about today or...”
Tumblr media
“Wait, what happened today..?”
Tumblr media
“Jesus Christ, Cody, I’m talking’ about the damn motive!”
Tumblr media
“There is also the comment of the so-called traitor one must keep in mind. They seem rather close to Monotwoma to be discussing the motive ahead of time.”
Tumblr media
“He’s gotta point. Darn trait’r gotta be all snuggled up t’ the bear. Bet they get a real kick outta this.”
Tumblr media
“We don’t know that yet. For all we know, the traitor could be blackmailed or threatened into doing this.”
Tumblr media
“Brenda has a point. We don’t have the full story. Monotwoma could even be lying about that.”
Tumblr media
“Look, I don’t care about the traitor thing right now. I wanna talk about the motive. It’s freaky, yeah?”
Tumblr media
“How so? Compared to the last, this seems rather average.”
Tumblr media
“It’s just...secrets are one thing. Enough digging and investigating and you can probably find anyone’s past. But this? Our greatest desires in life? No way they could just find that kinda stuff.”
Tumblr media
“Well, so far, only Kas has gone and he’s pretty hackable.”
Tumblr media
“Hey...”
Tumblr media
“But that does remind me. I’m not that hackable. In fact, only my parents really know how to get into my database. And the desire they showed today is fairly recent. I never told anyone about it.”
Tumblr media
“Gary thinks that maybe the force we are dealing with here is stronger than we might have anticipated.”
Tumblr media
“What are you going on about?”
Tumblr media
“Well, if what everyone is saying is true, that means that whoever put us here has a lot of information on us. Stuff they can’t find out from going through Twitter feeds and asking friends and family.”
Tumblr media
“It’s all deeply personal stuff! Like what everyone wants in life! And if they can hack into the toaster over there--”
Tumblr media
“That’s not very nice.’
Tumblr media
“--who’s to say they can’t get info...out of us?”
Tumblr media
“What? What are you trying to imply, Gary?”
Tumblr media
“Gary just thought you’d all like some food for thought!”
Tumblr media
“Seriously, what are you trying to say?!”
But Gary wouldn't answer, no matter how many times we asked. He was just done talking. Dinner crawled along after that, with all of us finishing and moving along as the day drew to a close.
DING-DONG BING-BONG~!
Tumblr media
“Hello, students! It is now 10:00 pm and is officially nighttime! Some rooms may be unavailable during this time and students are expected, but not forced, to retire to their rooms for a good night’s rest! So sleep tight!”
And nighttime soon followed. We all went to our rooms for the night, not ready for tomorrow but being left with no choice.

Pain, a bitchfest™
“why do you talk about being in pain so much?” She, a perfectly healthy ablebodied woman, said to me.
Because it hurts Brenda!
Because it affects my day to day quality (or lack thereof) of life Susan!
Because it has made me have to quit the job I loved and was good at and I struggle with feeling like a useless waste of space Valerie!
Because I can’t get treatment because Drs automatically treat you like a drug seeker even though my pain has been WELL documented for thirty-FUCKING-five YEARS Shelley.
Because I have to put up with Drs saying “oh that condition doesn’t cause pain” Tammy.
No dislocating really feels like a gentle fucking breeze Felicia!
Because I’m not alone Beatrice and
Because I want others to know it’s ok to talk about hard shit with me Maureen!
Because my old coping mechanism was a fucking razor blade Gloria!
I know it might make you more comfortable for me not to talk about it Cassandra! Too fucking bad.
Just because I look good Mildred, doesn’t mean I feel good and people aren’t going to know that because I’ve been so societally conditioned to act okay or stay home.
Because not every person in pain LOOKS like they’re in pain Patricia!
Say you break your leg, you are going to be in the emergency room probably crying, I can’t afford to sit and cry (ain’t nobody got spoons for that) all the time. You saying it’s not that bad because I’m not a puddle of Tears On The Floor is just dumb Delores!
Just because I’m used to Crazy amounts of pain doesn’t make it okay Mary.
Because I’m angry Alexis.
Because I can Kendra so if it bothers you, I cordially and most sincerely invite you to fuck ALL the way off!
Thanks for listening. I am not talking about it for attention, I’m talking about it because it affects every moment of my life. Every breath. Whether I can do something or not, which varies daily. That’s the bullshit of having a degenerative, life altering disability/illness and I’ve been quiet for far too long about it.
Some food for thought:
“The stigma of chronic difficult aspects of living with chronic pain. If you have chronic pain, people can sometimes judge you for it. Specifically, they can sometimes disapprovingly judge you for how you are coping with it. If you rest or nap because of the pain, they think you rest or nap too much. If they catch you crying, they become impatient and think you cry too much. If you don’t work because of the pain, you face scrutiny over why you don’t. If you go to your healthcare provider, they ask, “Are you going to the doctor again?” Maybe, they think that you take too many medications. In any of these ways, they disapprove of how you are coping with pain. These disapproving judgments are the stigma of living with chronic pain.”
Murray J. McAlister
“ People assume you aren’t sick  unless they see the sickness on your skin  like scars forming a map of all the ways you’re hurting.
My heart is a prison of Have you tried?s  Have you tried exercising? Have you tried eating better?  Have you tried not being sad, not being sick?  Have you tried being more like me?  Have you tried shutting up?
Yes, I have tried. Yes, I am still trying,  and yes, I am still sick.
Sometimes monsters are invisible, and  sometimes demons attack you from the inside.  Just because you cannot see the claws and the teeth  does not mean they aren’t ripping through me.  Pain does not need to be seen to be felt.
Telling me there is no problem  won’t solve the problem.
This is not how miracles are born.  This is not how sickness works.

Raison d’être
character intro (09/??)
carla “charlie” humprey-thorn, thirty- four, cis homosexual woman(she/her), brown, deceased.
physical description: brown eyes and hair, a determination that led her to her doom and had 1.75, a bit taller than helena.
stereotypes: death by origin story, butterfly of death and rebirth, curiosity killed the cast
“A recorded message. Even long gone, Charlie found a way to be around, even with the memories of her dead body scorched into his mind.
“Noah. Look. I know it’s going to sound stupid, but I kinda knew that I was going to die. Not just me, but y’know...I knew. You, me and Brenda were doomed from the moment we touched Polaris. I should just listened to my instincts and hide the investigation but...I couldn’t. There is something lurking in there, something dirty and rotten. We may live in a simulation, where everything is perfect, but...
This perfection has a price. Me, Brenda and any suspicious death. Be careful of the Ministry of Control and Wellfare, but knowing your luck, Jasper is already watching you, keeping you around. Be careful, even if he claims to be protecting you. Fight back if necessary. I know you will.
And...tell Helena that I’m sorry. I really am. I didn’t want to go like this. Imogen is probably so lonely by now. I want y’all to help each other out. For me.
One more thing...I love all of you. And I’m deeply sorry. And if by luck, we’ll see each other again, out there. In reality.” “
aesthetics: drinking tea, finding justice, writing into the night, sleeping with a feeling of safety, your loved ones safe, standing in the rain barefoot with your dog while he runs around you, medals and trophies scattered in a room, writing for countless hours, sleeping late.

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [17a: Brenda 1]
I went to the kitchen, hoping to find someone lingering around or eating a snack. I was happy to see that Brenda was there, looking through the fridge.
Tumblr media
“Hey there, Brenda. What are you up to?”
Tumblr media
“Oh! Hello, Kas! I’m just trying to pick out some stuff to make for dinner tonight.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, do you think I can help? I bet I can find lots of good food to pick!”
Tumblr media
“I think that sounds like a lovely idea!”
Tumblr media
“Awesome!”
Brenda and I spend time picking out food together. It turns out I didn’t have a great idea of what kind of food was good for dinner or well liked, but I still tried my best. The two of us grew a little closer today.
Tumblr media
“Okay, I think we have a good selection prepared. I should get started on this all.”
Tumblr media
“It’s really nice of you to make food for everyone every day and night, Brenda.”
Tumblr media
“Ah, thank you, but...can I admit something to you?”
Tumblr media
“Huh? Yeah, of course.”
Tumblr media
“I don’t do this for everyone else. I cook for myself. I just...need the distraction, I guess. Something to do so I can be busy.”
Tumblr media
“...that doesn’t sound too selfish, does it?”
Tumblr media
“Well...I talk to people whenever I need a distraction, but I’m still making friends and getting along with others.”
Tumblr media
“Even if you’re doing something for yourself, doing something to help others is still a good thing.”
Tumblr media
“I guess you have a point, Kas.”
Tumblr media
“You’re a lot smarter than you may think, you know.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, uh...you think so?”
Tumblr media
“Hehe...yeah, I do. Don’t underestimate yourself ever, okay?”
Tumblr media
“A-Alright, Brenda...”
I could feel my processors heating up. I didn’t get complimented like this very often by friends.
Tumblr media
“Oh, Kas, your screen is pink! It’s so cute!”
Tumblr media
“Y-Yeah, I guess so...uh, I’m gonna let you get to work on dinner. I don’t think I’m a good cook.”
Tumblr media
“Alright! I’ll be here if you ned me, then!”

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [14: Anger Management]
Dinner wrapped up well enough. The food was either eaten or taken by the others for later. Everyone heads off, while Trisha and Brenda hang back to clean up the dishes.
I had been quiet all through dinner from that point on. I was still trying to...process what I just did. I’ve never felt that way before. Was it wrong that I acted like that? Did I upset the others? Did I...do something bad?
Tumblr media
“Kas?”
Tumblr media
“Ah--!”
I had been so lost in thought, I didn’t even notice until Brenda and Trisha had come over to me.
Tumblr media
“Oh, I do hope we did not disturb you, Kasperov.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, uh...no, I’m fine.”
I think I was fine. Maybe I had glitched out or something before. That could make sense...
Tumblr media
“We just wanted to come and check up on you and make sure you were...feeling alright.”
Tumblr media
“Is this behavior natural in your programming? You had behaved similarly during the trial yesterday. Not to mention the sudden use of your arms, which you tend to keep hidden. Your aggressive nature seems unnatural to you.”
Tumblr media
“Trisha.”
Tumblr media
“Mm...yeah, you’re right, Trisha. I’ve never...acted like that before. But seeing all my friends yelling at each other like that just...made me mad. I just wanted to get them to stop.”
Tumblr media
“Well, I think you managed well at doing that.”
Tumblr media
“No, Trisha, he didn’t.”
Tumblr media
“I-I didn’t?”
Tumblr media
“Kas, I know how you feel. Watching people you care about fight can be awful. I’m usually more patient with younger children, but I know I’ve lost my cool with kids out age.”
Tumblr media
“But it’s important to remember that yelling and screaming at people to stop doing things won’t always work. It’s not a permanent solution, either. Calm, rational discuss can help far more. Listening to others, understanding their problems, and working together to solve it will always do better in the end than just trying to be the louder voice. Does that make sense?”
Tumblr media
“I...I think I get it, yeah.”
Tumblr media
“You’re so smart, Brenda. I’m really happy to have you as a friend.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, well...I’m glad we’re friends, too.”
Tumblr media
“Logically speaking, though, Kasperov was able to end the arguing and everyone did listen to him. His way worked just as well.”
Tumblr media
“That’s...not the point I’m really trying to make, Trisha.”
Tumblr media
“People are so complicated. I’d much rather work with equations.”
Tumblr media
“I think people are great! Learning about others is always so much fun! I’m learning so much right now!”
Tumblr media
“Oh course...the SHSL Chess Player must have amazing analytic abilities. I’m sure you could predict a person’s thoughts with enough time and studying.”
Tumblr media
“Uh...maybe?”
DING-DONG BING-BONG~!
Tumblr media
“Hello, students! It is now 10:00 pm and is officially nighttime! Some rooms may be unavailable during this time and students are expected, but not forced, to retire to their rooms for a good night’s rest! So sleep tight!”
Tumblr media
“Ah, it’s time for bed! Good night, Trisha! Kas! I’ll see you both tomorrow!”
Tumblr media
“And...if you ever need to talk about anything, Kas, I’m here. I’ll always be available for you.”
With that, Brenda made her way out of the kitchen. Trisha and I said our goodnights and the two of us went to our own rooms as well.
Once in my room, I plug myself in in order to rest for the night.

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [12: Dinner and a Fight]
Tumblr media
“Okay, so we’ve been everywhere except for Mei’s lab. You wanna go check it out?”
Tumblr media
“I...I don’t know if I can. Every time I think about her I...”
Itsuki sighs.
Tumblr media
“Look, I...I get it. What we had to go through was fucked up. You were the first one to find the body, so it’s probably the worst for you. If you don’t want to look at the lab, it’s fine. I’m gonna go, though. Just in case.”
Tumblr media
“Thanks, Itsuki. You’re a good friend.”
Tumblr media
“...huh?”
Tumblr media
“We...We’re not friends! I never said that! Don’t go assuming stupid shit like that! Jesus Christ! Why’s the robot gotta be the most sentimental one here?!”
Itsuki storms out of the room, grumbling to himself. I was a bit worried I upset him, but I was thinking about his secret again. Maybe he was just doing that because he was scared of being my friend? I really should talk to him about it sometime.
Everyone finished their search of the new floor. Plenty of new rooms, but no clues of any kind or a way out of the school. We all grouped up in the cafeteria. Brenda made a spread of food for dinner and we all sat down to eat together.
Tumblr media
“So, the new floor is pretty cool, yeah?”
Tumblr media
“Break room’s nice. Got tons of candy. I can make better, but I guess it’s nice if I’m up there.”
Tumblr media
“Ah, Genji, I didn’t get to see the inside of your lab.”
Tumblr media
“That’s kinda the point, big guy. Can’t have you guys going through my stuff.”
Tumblr media
“The new floor is rather telling. With the elevator open, we know how many floors to expect.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, hey, how come you guys didn’t go up any farther? The elevator didn’t have al the buttons working, but you could have used the stairs.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, well, a large grate kind of covered the stairs going up to the third floor. No way past it.”
Tumblr media
“It was an impenetrable blockade.”
Tumblr media
“Brenda just said that. But Gary guesses you gotta use your your words of the day somehow, huh?”
Tumblr media
“Gary, can we have your lizard counterpart back? He is less...despisable.”
Tumblr media
“Haha, yeah, Noodle’s great! But no, Gary is trying to eat!”
Tumblr media
“Than starve, fecal smear!”
Tumblr media
“Christ, you can’t even say shit stain right?”
Tumblr media
“Guys, come on...”
Tumblr media
“Hey, J, ya just took muh biscuit.”
Tumblr media
“Oh...whoops.”
Tumblr media
“Whoops?! Go get me a new one!”
Tumblr media
“That’s a waste of my energy. Hey, Brenda, get Yoshiko a new biscuit.”
Tumblr media
“Excuse me? You can’t order me around like that, J. You ate the biscuit, you should get a new one.”
Tumblr media
“Yeah, ya lazy good fer nothin’!”
Tumblr media
“Guys, stop it.”
Tumblr media
“Cody, wake up. You’re sleeping in your mashed potatoes.”
Tumblr media
“Hnngh..?”
Tumblr media
“My, what an exceptionally pathetic human! How did he get so far?”
Tumblr media
“Hey, don’t talk about him like that!”
Tumblr media
“It is merely an observation that he is an easy target.”
Tumblr media
“I’ll show you an easy target when I rip your fucking guts out and choke you with them!”
Tumblr media
“Hey, stop fighting!”
Tumblr media
“Will you shut up already, Gary?”
Tumblr media
“Come and make Gary shut up.”
Tumblr media
“I’m ‘bout ready t’ knocker yer lights out, little man!”
Tumblr media
“I might look weak, but my power should not be undermined.”
Tumblr media
“Such readiness for violence! A mortal like yourself will surely die soon!”
Tumblr media
“You’re the one dying soon, freak!”
Tumblr media
“EVERYONE SHUT UP!”
A collective silence filled the room as all the arguments ended. All eyes were on me now.
What just came over me..?

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [21: Joyless Joyce]
Tumblr media
“So, what is it that Joyce wants more than absolutely anything in the world? Why, it’s simple! She just wants to be happy!”
Tumblr media
“...so do the rest of us?”
Tumblr media
“That is enough, Monotwoma.”
Tumblr media
“But I haven’t even gotten to the best part! Like how dancing is the only thing that’s even made you happy! Or how you feel so miserable all the time that even mustering up a smile can be a chore! Or that you plan to give up nearly every dollar of the wealth you’ll one day inherit because it just means so little to you, just like everything else in your life!”
Tumblr media
“No, please, stop!”
Tumblr media
“Joyce..?”
Joyce was now beginning to cry, her body shuddering.
Tumblr media
“Dancing is her therapy and it’s the only thing that matters to her in the entire world! Otherwise, she’s just a useless sack of depression that struggles to get up and face the day.”
Tumblr media
“STOP IT! STOP TELLING THEM!”
Tumblr media
“Joyce?!”
Tumblr media
“What the hell is your problem, Monotwoma?! The secret motive ended last week!”
Tumblr media
“Hey, I promise this all has a happy ending! Because I can give Joyce exactly what she wants! See, we have this new drug guaranteed to help Joyce feel a million times better! Great stuff curtesy of the Hope’s Peak Academy students that worked hard to produce it!”
Monotwoma produces a bottle and shakes it, letting us hear the rattling of pills inside.
Tumblr media
“All she has to do is kill someone and I can make all her problems disappear. This is all Joyce Heartswell wants in life.”
Tumblr media
“NOOO!” Joyce shoves past everyone in her way as she runs out of the computer room.
Tumblr media
“Joyce, wait!”
Tumblr media
“Guess that’s the end for today! See you all tomorrow!”
Monotwoma leaves as well.
Tumblr media
“I need to go after Joyce...”
I speed out of the room, not waiting for anyone to do or say anything. My friend needed me right now and that’s all that mattered.

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [20: Where For Art Thou?]
I tried to get J up and out of bed, but he never did respond to me. Not wanting to be late for the breakfast meeting, I make my way to the cafeteria in order to join those that were there. It just seemed to be the usual people that always showed up.
Tumblr media
“Ah, Kasperov, have you seen Joyce today?”
Tumblr media
“Huh? You haven’t seen her?”
Tumblr media
“Normally, she is in her lab, but I did not see her there and she did not answer her door when I knocked.”
Tumblr media
“Do you guys think something happened to her..?”
Tumblr media
“Maybe we should check on her?”
Tumblr media
“A good idea, Noodle. There is not a lot of school to hide in. Perhaps we should split up?”
Tumblr media
“Hold on, aren’t you all getting a little worked up? I know the thought she could be in danger is scary but...I haven’t seen Hunk today, either. Or Webby. The Great Guardian hasn’t shown up, either. And J isn’t around.”
Tumblr media
“She makes an excellent point. If she is not here, perhaps she wants to be alone? We should not force her to do what we desire.”
Tumblr media
“Well, I have her breakfast here. I will go check her room again and leave it there.”
With that, Valentina got up and walked out of the room.
Tumblr media
“I’m still a little worried...”
Tumblr media
“She’s probably just sleeping in, Kas. It’s really not a big deal.”
Tumblr media
“Look, if she’s dead, we’ll know ‘cause the motive won’t happen. Long as we get an announcement for that...”
Tumblr media
“Hey, you all know the drill today, right? Come on up to the computer lab! I’ll see you all there!”
Tumblr media
“And that answers that.”
Tumblr media
“Wow...you’re pretty smart, Itsuki.”
Tumblr media
“What..?”
Tumblr media
“Well, we shouldn’t keep ‘I'm waitin’...”
We all got up and made our way to the computer lab. Joyce, as well as everyone else not in the cafeteria, was there. That at least calmed one of my nerves.
Tumblr media
“Welcome, welcome, everyone! It’s so good to see you all again! Are you excited for the motive today?”
Tumblr media
“No!”
Tumblr media
“Yes, tough crowd...”
Tumblr media
“Well, you’ll still be dealing with the motive either way! And today’s lucky winner is...Joyce Heartswell!”
Tumblr media
“...huh?”

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [16: The First Dream]
Tumblr media
“We figured the best way to make your dreams come true is to prove to you that we can actually do it! So, along with showing everyone what you want, we’ll provide evidence that we can keep our promises.”
Tumblr media
“That’s insane! Why don’t you just leave us alone?!”
Tumblr media
“Yeah, quite bugging us!”
Tumblr media
“Aw, are you just gonna throw everyone’s lives away then, Kas?”
Tumblr media
“...huh?”
Tumblr media
“What are you babbling about now..?”
Tumblr media
“Kasperov’s dream, of course! Everyone watch the screen!”
Monotwoma clicks a few things on the computer and a video begins to play from the projector onto the screen. In it, we can see...all of us? We’re staring in the computer lab, watching the screen. I’d almost think we were being shown live footage of the room, but there was something...off.
Tumblr media
“Hey, isn’t that Mei and Machiko?”
Tumblr media
“You’re right...”
That’s the only thing that seemed off with the video. Mei and Machiko were there with all of us, alive and well. The video carries on for a moment longer before ending.
Tumblr media
“Isn’t it sweet? Kas’s dream is so simple! He just wants his friends to be alive again!”
Tumblr media
“Well...yeah, but...”
Tumblr media
“How illogically inconsistent. Kasperov cannot have his desire fulfilled if he were to commit an atrocity such as homicide. That, and one cannot revive a cadaver.”
Tumblr media
“My, my, such little faith...it is perfectly possible to raise the dead. I am unliving proof.”
Tumblr media
“You’re a ghost?! But when did you die?!”
Tumblr media
“Oh for the love of god, can we wrap this up, Monotwoma?”
Tumblr media
“Pushy, pushy. Fine. Here’s the proof that I can give Kas what he wants!”
Monotwoma holds up a USB.
Tumblr media
“I have here perfect artificial recreations of Mei and Machiko, down to the memory. All I’d need to do is upload these into robotic host bodies and presto chango, the dead walk again! Or close enough.”
Tumblr media
“What? But that’s not fair. I want the actual Mei and Machiko back!”
Tumblr media
“But they are perfect replicas, yes? Would it not be the same thing? And...aren’t you just an AI?”
Tumblr media
“That’s not the point. You can’t just...recreate a life and say that’s the same thing! If you can’t bring them back for real, I’m not interested! And...”
Tumblr media
“...and I already know you can’t bring them back from the dead.”
Tumblr media
“Gary didn’t expect such a weirdly specific moral dilemma from you.”
Tumblr media
“Mm...wouldn’t we all have to die in that trial for Kas’s thing to work..? I don’t wanna be a robot...”
Tumblr media
“H-He’s right. For this idea to work, w-we’d all have to die first...”
Tumblr media
“Heh...guess ya aren’t as dumb as I thought.”
Tumblr media
“Oh well! We have a totally different dream to reveal tomorrow, so maybe that’ll stir some creative juices! Until next time, buh-bye!”
And with that, Monotwoma left us all alone in the room.
Tumblr media
“He’s a damned fool if he thinks Kas would fall fer that one.”
Tumblr media
“I think that dream of yours is incredibly sweet, Kasperov.”
Tumblr media
“Yes, it is, but...how did he learn of it?”
Tumblr media
“What do you mean?”
Tumblr media
“That would have to be a fairly recent dream of yours to have, considering the death was only a day ago. For him to have found that out and prepared that video in such a time...”
Tumblr media
“It is simply odd, no?”
Tumblr media
“Well...”
She was right. It was weird Monotwoma knew that about me. I hadn’t mentioned that to anyone before. The only way that could have been found out is if...someone broke into my database and looked at the things I was thinking and feeling. But no one here knew how to do that...
...right?

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [13: Fight the Good Fight]
Tumblr media
“Kas, what are you--”
Tumblr media
“EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP FIGHTING RIGHT NOW!”
Tumblr media
“But...no one was--”
Tumblr media
“YES. YOU. WERE.”
Tumblr media
“Kasperov, I...I believe now is the time to calm down...”
Tumblr media
“...huh?”
I take a look around the room to notice that everyone looked...kind of scared. Scared of me.
Tumblr media
“I...I...”
Tumblr media
“...I’m...sorry, everyone. I don’t know what happened. Everyone was yelling and fighting and I just..”
Tumblr media
“It is quite alright. Your emotions are understandable. The petty squabbling was grating on my nerves as well.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, yeah. Sorry if we all upset you.”
Tumblr media
“I suppose my wording was a bit...callous.”
Tumblr media
“I’ll go get that biscuit for you, Yoshiko.”
Tumblr media
“Fine...Gary will try to be less mean...”
And with that, things seemed to simmer down and dinner carried on. It was nice that everyone was relaxing again and starting to get along, but was that because they had made up or...
...was it because they were scared of me?

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [11b: Library Hangout]
Brenda and Trisha were wandering around the library absentmindedly, looking through the shelves and inspecting the room.
Tumblr media
“Brenda! Trisha! Hi!”
Tumblr media
“Kasperov! Good to see you!”
Tumblr media
“I’m also here.”
Tumblr media
“Hello, Itsuki. Kasperov. Are the two of you exploring as well?”
Tumblr media
“Yeah! Well, actually, we’re just about done!”
Tumblr media
“That’s good! Then I suppose it won’t hurt to ask but...”
Tumblr media
“Are...you okay?”
Tumblr media
“Huh? What do you mean?”
Tumblr media
“it’s just...during the trial, you seemed so abnormally aggressive. And you were using your arms sometimes when you shouted.”
Tumblr media
“She’s got a point. You were being weird. Thought you were glitching out or something.”
Tumblr media
“Yes, I was quite curious about your behavior as well.”
Tumblr media
“Was I really being that weird? I was just trying to help everyone. I didn’t want us to lose the trial.”
Tumblr media
“And you did amazing! I really can’t thank you enough for sticking up for me there. I just wanted to make sure all was well with you. Trisha and I are still looking around, but we can meet up later during dinner! We’ll see you later!”

Chapter 2: Dream a Dream of Life Gone By [2: Gather ‘round!]
All of us made our way to the gym. I got there with the group that had been in the cafeteria, but I saw some of the others there, too.
Tumblr media
“Brenda! Trisha!”
Tumblr media
“Greetings, Kasperov!”
Tumblr media
“Oh...good morning, Kas. I’m sorry I didn’t meet up in the cafeteria today. I...was...”
Tumblr media
“I understand, Brenda. I didn’t really want to get out of bed today, either.”
Tumblr media
“You sleep on a bed?”
Tumblr media
“Oh, uh, no. I just meant getting unplugged from my charging port, but my moms and dads always use bed so I just picked up on it.”
Tumblr media
“Moms and dads..? How many parents do you have..?”
Tumblr media
“About 15!”
Tumblr media
“Um...Noodle hates to interrupt but--”
Tumblr media
“Then don’t.”
Tumblr media
“U-Um...yes, well...where is Mr. Bear..?”
Tumblr media
“M-MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE HAS ALREADY DIED AND WE HAVE TO DO ANOTHER HORRIBLE TRIAL! I DON’T WANT TO DO IT AGAIN! PLEASE DON’T MAKE MEEEEEE!”
Tumblr media
“Hng..? Why’s everyone so loud..? I’m trying to sleep...”
Tumblr media
“Learn to count. No one else is dead.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, hey! Don’t be so negative just yet!”
Monotwoma had appeared out of nowhere from in front of us while we were all distracted.
Tumblr media
“Hey, what’s with the wait?!”
Tumblr media
“No need to be in such a sour mood! I’m here to congratulate you all on a job well done yesterday! The trial went off without a hitch!”
Tumblr media
“Erm...someone...someone died, Monotwoma, sir...”
Tumblr media
“Same difference, beefcake.”
Tumblr media
“Disgusting...”
Tumblr media
“Aaaaanyway, I can now reveal the wonderful prize you all get for not dying! A whole new floor!”
Tumblr media
“My, my...how exciting!”
Tumblr media
“Now be free and enjoy the all new possibilities of life, as short as it may be!”

Trial 1: Walk A Mile In Despair’s Shoes [29]
Tumblr media
There was only silence in the room. The kind of silence that seems to last its own eternity. The kind that’s louder and more telling than anything anyone could say. I don’t think anyone knew what to say anyway.
At least until someone found the next best alternative.
Tumblr media
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
Tumblr media
“Dear God is...is she really..?”
Tumblr media
“We...We have...to help her...”
Tumblr media
“Help her? She’s dead. Her brains are splattered all over the place if you want to check.”
Tumblr media
“How...How can you...talk like that..?”
Tumblr media
“I believe we have had enough of your colorful commentary, Gary.”
Tumblr media
“She deserved it and you all know it.”
Tumblr media
“What..?”
Tumblr media
“She killed someone. Not only that, she made Mei suffer before she died. Do you all think that was a peaceful, instant death for Mei? That bitch got what was coming to her and Gary isn’t going to cry for her.”
Tumblr media
“...he’s right. I hate to say it, but Gary is right. Machiko got exactly what was coming to her. You can’t tell me that’s wrong.
Tumblr media
“That’s...not...”
Tumblr media
“She didn’t...deserve something so horrible. Machiko and Mei both. No one deserves to die...”
Tumblr media
“AAAAAHAHAHAHA! This is great! This is amazing! I can smell it, see it, hear it! That wonderful thing is filling this room!”
Tumblr media
“The despair of the killing game is finally, truly here! It’s infected you all and can only spread! It’s marvelous! It’s absolutely beautiful! It’s...It’s...”
Tumblr media
“It is time for you to shut your trap.”
Tumblr media
“Aw, really? Then I guess I’ll let you kids go. It’s late, so you should get to your rooms. Take the elevators back down. I need to clean up around here anyway.”
There was a lot left to say, but nothing was as the fifteen of us left made our way into the elevator and rode it back down to the school with continued silence.
We all made it back without interruption and went to our individual rooms.
Tumblr media
I could feel emotions welling up inside of me. Two of our friends were dead. Mei and Machiko...they were dead. Gone. They were never coming back and we’d never see them again.
Tumblr media
“...UWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!”
And it finally came rushing out in harsh sobbing. Now that everything has settled down, all I could do was sit here with these awful emotions pouring out of me. I was sad that my friends were gone, mad this was happening to us, but most of all... ...I was scared of what might happen next.

Chapter 1 - Yell It Out yet Keep It In [26: Not It!]
Tumblr media
“So...who’s gonna touch the body?”
Tumblr media
“And why would we need to do that..?”
Tumblr media
“How about so we can find the evidence we need and not fucking die? That a good ‘nough reason for you, cu—?!”
Tumblr media
“Gary votes for Kas to do it!”
Tumblr media
“M-Me?! But I don’t know what to look for!”
Tumblr media
“I agree with the lizard man. Make the machine do it.”
Tumblr media
“Hey, uh...maybe y’guys shouldn’ pick on Kas s’much. I think he has feelin’s, too...”
Tumblr media
“You think..?”
Tumblr media
“I shall gladly check the body for you all.”
Tumblr media
“Why ‘gladly’..?”
Tumblr media
“Kekekekeke...”
Yamada made his way over to Meis body and starts to look over it. He’ll probably be at that for a while. For now, I should look around the area on my own and see if the others have something to say.
