There is something that bothers me a lot about Yu-Gi-Oh and that is how it makes incredible and powerful characters who by the end of the series are nothing more than cheerleaders, like Asuka Tenjōin, Aki Izayoi, Shun Kurosaki, Serena and Reira Akaba.

It bothers me a lot that good characters are so... dirty.

Asuka and Aki were female duelists who had talent, intelligence, and strength in their decks who made their own way and were incredible, but for the later seasons they were just for show.

Shun started out as one of the most powerful characters in the series and was nerfed in the finale. Serena was also great, with a powerful deck and the ability to use it, but they put a worm in her head and brainwashed her to ultimately use her as a device to advance the plot.

Reira herself had reached character development and was becoming her own person and then Ray arrived as a savior and the girl became a vessel and then a baby. Awful.

The bracelet girls themselves were totally tainted by the series, especially Ruri who was given practically nothing more than being Yūto's love interest and Shun's younger sister, AND the girl has a deck that can OTK between her first and third turn!

I can't speak for Zexal or Vrains since I haven't seen them, but honestly, I don't expect much from them on that side
