let's play "send me 💖 + a fandom and i’ll tell you my fav character": 💖 + Pokémon Sword and Shield, please! :>
Thank you for the ask @breakdawn-avenue
This took me a while to decide but my favorite character, or should I say characters, are the two sweetest brothers of all of Galar, Hop and Leon. I couldn’t choose between them, both of them are good.
Hop
I love his enthusiasm and love seeing him try his best in the Gym Challenge. Seeing Hop struggle after losing to Bede and actually removing his partner Wooloo from his team really hurt. I really wanted to hug Hop and let him know it’s gonna be okay (Game Freak why did you not give us an option to hug Hop?) Then once we reached Circhester, I was happy to see Hop as his cheerful self again and he got stronger; he was actually tough to beat in the finals. Of course, teaming up with Hop to defeat Eternatus and challenging him one more time with his well deserved Legendary Pokémon partner in the end was one of the best parts in the game. I just love Hop and seeing his character growth.
Tumblr media
Leon
BEST! CHAMPION! EVER! Leon is such a sweetheart and I never really felt such emotions over Pokémon champions until Leon came into the picture. Two things Leon did won me over: the first was taking in the last starter Pokémon and the second was watching him taking charge in the Eternatus fiasco. With the exception of Black/White and X/Y, I often see the third starter Pokémon getting left behind and I couldn’t help but feel sad for that starter for not having a partner. Leon actually takes the third starter into his team while giving Hop and I our starters and that was one of the sweetest things I have seen a champion do in Pokémon. In most games, there is always a crisis going on and most of the adults and, in some cases the game champions, are like “oh no what do we do? Who will stop (insert crisis or evil team name here)?” and do nothing while a child, let me repeat that a child, is the one who must take care of the crisis. By the time it’s almost over, that is when the others take action and act like they helped when really they did little or nothing at all. Enter Leon: he actually acts like an adult and takes charge in the crisis. Leon goes head in first and takes care of everything while making sure me and the rest of the cast aren’t harmed; hell Leon had his Charizard protect Hop and I from Eternatus’s attack while disregarding his own safety - this man is the G.O.A.T. Leon is just amazing and when I battle against him, it felt like a real accomplishment taking the Championship crown from a powerful and worthy opponent like him. I just love Leon and he is my absolute favorite champion in Pokémon.

I _really_, really hope I'm not too pushy if I ask for a second short fic from the Drabble Challenge (because I have to admit that I can't get it out of my head): #136 with Datastorm, please
nope, not pushy at all!! These little fics are even given me warm-up practice before I start a bigger write for one of my chapters, so i really appreciate this ask
#136: “You had a nightmare. Tell me what it was about so I can fix it.”
Ryouken woke up to the sound of heaving breaths and running water, and he knew he'd awoken seconds too late. The spot next to him was still warm, so it hadn't been long since Yuusaku had shot up from bed, but the area was quickly growing colder; it felt like the tundra outside of the room. Still, he kicked his legs over the side of the bed and padded to the door. His foot creaked on one of the floorboards, and though the sound echoed across the otherwise-empty bedroom, Yuusaku's breaths didn't stop quickening.
A nightmare. Yuusaku had them every night, though only sometimes would he leave the bed; most times he'd been too gripped with fear to even move, and Ryouken would awaken to cold sweat soaking the sheets underneath them and Yuusaku's wide, glassy eyes illuminated in the milky moonlight. If he was awake, then at least Yuusaku wasn't gripped by his nightmares.
His hand stilled on the door frame, fingers tight and clammy. They'd done this a hundred times before—the same painful situation, the same unfortunate circumstances—and yet each time he approached the door, his words trickled out of his mind like loose threads in a ball of yarn. What could he say to Yuusaku?
"Go back to bed."
The rawness of Yuusaku's voice surprised him, but what startled him was that Yuusaku was coherent enough to know he was waiting on the other side of the door.
"Do you want anything?" he tried instead.
Yuusaku only coughed, sucking in a ragged breath that echoed through the bathroom. He'd turned off the water, but Ryouken could still imagine him standing in front of the sink, pale and withdrawn, face soaked and pyjama top sticking with sweat.
"I'm fine. Just go back to sleep."
His feet remained planted before the bathroom door. Yuusaku had said those words before—many times, in many circumstances, in a voice devoid of malice or anger and just plain tired. But while he would not push Yuusaku to recount his vivid nightmares, he wouldn't let him suffer alone on the cold bathroom tiles until the early hours of the morning when he'd fall asleep against the side of the tub.
"I'll get you something to drink," he said. His foot creaked on the boards, ready to turn and head for the kitchen.
Yuusaku sucked in another ragged breath. "Stay."
"Will you come back to bed then?" he asked.
Even through the doorway, he could imagine Yuusaku shaking his head, chapped lip wobbling. Selfishly, he wished he could open the door and snap Yuusaku out of his panic. It would be simple, liking writing a new line of code: if(HavingNightmaresOfChildhoodTraumaInflictedOnHimByBoyfriend'sFather); {don't}. But even he had nightmares of his past traumas, as infrequent as they were, a quick fix wouldn't liberate him of his own guilt and self-hatred. Still, standing outside the bathroom door felt like the least helpful thing to do.
"Go back to bed." Yuusaku sounded close, probably pressed up against the door.
Ryouken leaned back into the door too. "I'm already awake. You ..." He swallowed. "You don't have to talk about it, but I'm not going to leave you alone in the bathroom. You had a nightmare, and ..." And if you told me what it was about, maybe I could fix it, but I can't, and this is all I can do, and so I'm just going to sit and wait.
Slowly, the door creaked open a sliver, enough that he could see one of Yuusaku's wet eyes peering through the doorway. Then the door slammed closed, only to re-open to him standing in his damp pyjamas, hair smushed across his face. He rubbed at his eyes and face, both damp from either water or tears. "And ...?"
He shook his head. Nothing could fix the moment, but still ...
"Come back to bed. I'll make us some coffee."
Neither of them would be getting any sleep soon. Yuusaku wouldn't talk about his nightmares either. But when he returned with two cups of coffee, the apples of Yuusaku's cheeks held dapples of colour, and his eyes weren't quite so wide.
Ryouken smiled. Even if he couldn't fix the nightmares, at least there was something he could do.

yaaaaaaass, let's play "send me an YGO character": Yusaku, Ryoken + Ai, please?
Hi! Thanks for the ask. (=^-ω-^=)Also answering for the two Anons who sent me Yusaku
Time for VRAINS protagonist himself, Yusaku Fujiki, aka Playmaker! I already answered for Ryoken’s, and I’m planning to do Ai’s on a separate post.
Let’s get started! (^._.^)ノ
Why I like them/why I don’t
Tumblr media
Strong and steadfast, the cyber vigilante of Link VRAINS has a presence unlike that of previous franchise protagonists. He isn’t as high-spirited and youthful as Yuya or Yuma, or as carefree as Judai. Some people say he’s Yusei 2.0, but he has unique traits that make him so much different than Yusei. And unlike the previous protagonists who focused on bonds and friendships, Yusaku is a solitary character in a quest for revenge.
Tumblr media
Yusaku has been through very traumatic experiences that changed him from his very roots. He was kidnapped at the age of 6, in addition to being imprisoned and forced to duel for six whole months. It seemed like a hopeless situation, but a single glimmer of light kept him going. When he was about to give up, one voice kept him strong.
Psychologically, all these factors and changes would scar anyone’s mind. Since then, the trauma would often disrupt Yusaku’s sleep, and he would wake up screaming and in cold sweat. The pain only grew as he grew older.
Then later on, he decided to embark on a quest in search for the truth and becomes a very self-driven person. For him it was a personal feud. He wants to destroy the Hanoi, settle his past, and save the person who saved him. The Ignis, or more specifically Ai, just happens to be a part of that.
Tumblr media
Yusaku is quite sassy and edgy, presented in a way that it never cockiness, but instead it’s cool confidence with a bite. He is portrayed as a loner in school, and his actions and characteristics showcases his aloofness. His interaction with his classmate shows this–not fully caring about school and peers, and purposely building a wall to push away people who are friendly (except for Kusanagi). Needless to say, Yusaku is being unapproachable due to his past history. He is also shown to be incredibly intelligent and a natural computer-whiz with a knack for hacking.
As a Duelist, it is made clear in his character that he is well-rounded, versatile and understands his capabilities, not to mention that he is also a risk-taker. He doesn’t want to be top Duelist for glory or to selflessly help people. He was an emissary of revenge.
What I like about their appearance  (≚ᄌ≚)ℒℴѵℯ❤
When news about VRAINS was released, it was love at first sight as the franchise introduced me to see what was seemingly like a male version of Serena from Arc V. He bears a striking resemblance that I immediately headcannoned him to be a Predatorshipping child. XD I was still a hardcore Arc V fan back then…
Tumblr media
But honestly? Yusaku’s and Playmaker’s designs are both so good. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS.
We have sexy and cool…
Tumblr media
Cute and pretty…
Tumblr media
Do I prefer their dub names or original names?
His name is still the same in the dub. XD
OTP
Tumblr media
“I can tell you my true feelings! Even my suffering and my weaknesses! You live in the same world as me. You’re able to save me. And I’m able to save you.”
The prisoners of destiny…To Yusaku, Ryoken represents hope, and the show makes it clear that Yusaku’s feelings for Ryoken have been nothing but genuine feelings of gratitude, appreciation, devotion and forgiveness. The fact of the matter is that Yusaku would have never been able to survive the Lost Incident had it not been for Ryoken. And while Yusaku continues to live with his trauma, it’s also Ryoken’s “three things” that gives him strength and later on the motivation to pursue his goals.
Tumblr media
But it’s not as if Yusaku’s feelings for Ryoken is just blind devotion. It’s a different brand of loyalty than that of the Knights of Hanoi. Yusaku truly understands the extent of Ryoken’s goals and cares for him so much to the point he’s willing to stand in his way and save Ryoken’s life.
When he learned Revolver’s identity, not once did Yusaku blame Ryoken for the Lost Incident, because he believes the good in Ryoken. He believes in the boy that became his voice of hope. Even when Bohman claimed that he was a fake, he didn’t waver and confirms the truth inside him because his connection and history with Ryoken are real.
As for Ryoken’s feelings for Yusaku, it’s quite clear that Ryoken both respects and cares for Yusaku. Season 1 made it especially interesting to see how much his past with Yusaku affected him. He is shocked and torn at the very knowledge that Playmaker is the same child he saved all those years ago, and fate really has a weird way of getting in your face. And in despite the difference in their goals, Ryoken continues to look out for Yusaku in his own way, like giving him the protection program and entrusting him with one of his ace monsters. If circumstances were different, they would have become good friends.
The rivals of this series are so much more than just ‘rivals’. It’s not just about the card game itself, or a show of strength and superiority. The show does a great job showing how far the both of them had gone as rivals and perhaps, more.

for the "behind the scene" ask meme: no. 7, no. 8, no. 12 and no. 30, pretty please!
7.  Which part of writing do you struggle with most?
mostly random transitional phases. like working out how A progresses to B, especially how if it has to get to D and I don’t even know what C’s supposed to look like
8.  Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately.
I do! I love music. Um I’ve been listening to a lot of the following today/this week:
Good Girls Don’t by The Knack
The Mamma Mia soundtrack (movies 1 and 2)
Mexican Radio, specifically the cover by Authority Zero
The Killing Moon by Echo & The Bunnymen
I’m one of those people who can listen to the same song for like fucking 24 hours so the fact there’s like a soundtrack in the mix is great
Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?
already answered but short answer: nope
30. Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.
already answered but short answer is also a nope but maybe an Eirika/Valter longfic of the arranged marriage variety

let’s play “angst / fluff prompts”: #70 + Angelmaker, please :>
70: “After everything we’ve been through, you still don’t think that I love you?”
Thank you for the ask! I messed around a bit with how the piece was written. Also Tumblr hates formatting so fingers crossed I can get it to co-operate.
Prompts still open Here
Yusaku was tucked away into a dark corner of Link VRAINS, tapping away at his duel disk. He’d long since shelved the Playmaker avatar. It was too well known, now, and he got recognised less when he was just being himself.
It wasn’t like many people at his school logged into the dueling network, anyway. Naoki, Aoi, maybe a couple of others that he didn’t know. But everyone online knew what Playmaker’s appearances represented.
A new threat. It was basically branded in everyone’s minds by now. He only showed up when there was a fight to be had, and people, being people, started following him everywhere in anticipation, rather than trying to stay safe.
Aoi and Takeru didn’t have nearly the same problems. More often than not, they logged on for leisure, instead of out of necessity.
So he’d started just logging on as himself, and keeping out of view when there were fights to be had. Any threat large enough to catch his attention knew he was Playmaker, anyway.
After minutes of tapping at his duel disk, trying to get the program to activate, a crack finally appeared in the air in front of him, tearing itself open to reveal another location. He took a deep breath. After days of work, he’d managed to track down where the current threat was hiding, at the expense of spending time with anyone.
Not that he spent much time with anyone in the first place, but in the past few days, Naoki kept chasing him down after school, prompting him to make himself scarce anyway. Nothing good ever came from interacting with that guy.
Before he entered the crack, he typed out a message to Shoichi, finally letting his older friend acquaintance know about the situation. Shoichi had been spending a lot of time with Jin after he’d finally recovered to a state where he wasn’t bound to a single place, but Yusaku still felt the need to let him know when something was happening, even if he planned to have it all tied up before Shoichi could do anything.
He nodded to himself, then stepped forward-
“Pla- Yusaku!”
His head snapped around, eyes widening. Someone found him? He recognised the voice, and his eyes weren’t far behind.
Aoi. His… crush, friend, classmate? He settled on that, squashing the unbidden thoughts. He didn’t need to worry about them. Nothing would come from feeling thinking that way. They had different lives to worry about.
She jumped down from the D-Board, landing in front of him with a frown on her face. “What’s going on?” She stared at the crack for a moment, but returned to looking at him, waiting for his response.
“Zaizen.” He blinked, still gathering his thoughts. She twitched as he said her name. “Nothing.” He lied. “Just testing a program. Why are you here?”
“So you’re free, then? Let’s go do something fun.” She said.
He jerked back. He knew she would see through the obvious lie, but why didn’t she call him on it? “Maybe another time.” He murmured. “I’m busy.”
“Not a chance. You’re either not doing anything important, or-” She glared at him, but it quickly changed into a look of worry. “You’re doing something dangerous again. We both know which one it is. You don’t log in unless something is wrong. Why didn’t you tell anyone?”
He was confused. “There’s no need for anyone else to get involved. It’s fine.” Why was she acting this way?
“Stop it.” She gave him a sad smile. “You keep doing this. Cutting us out, only letting us know about things when you’re about to deal with them, or you’ve already dealt with them.” She stepped around him, blocking his way. “It’s like you’re worried we won’t be able to help. That we’ll get hurt. But you don’t consider how we feel.”
“How… you feel?” He tried.
“We worry about you, as well. We’re not strangers, Yusaku. We’re your friends. I’m your- friend.” There was an odd catch in her words as she referred to herself, but he didn’t pay it any mind.
The rest of her words caught him, though, and brought a bubble of guilt into his thoughts. He knew he was the one in the wrong here, but he couldn’t admit it.
He weakly tried to push past her, but she caught his arm with a frown.
He frowned at her. “Why are you worried about me? It’s not necessary.” He put some more effort in, but she wouldn’t budge.
“What are you talking about?” She spoke softly. “After everything we’ve been through, you still don’t think that I love you?”
“You-”
“Of course I’m worried. We’ve been through so much together.” She released his arm, letting it fall back to his side. “I’m not telling you not to fight, but you don’t have to fight alone.”
He was completely lost for words as she gave him a quick hug before drawing back and stepping out of the way, frowning at the portal, then him.
“So let’s get this out of the way, already. I’ve been trying to catch up with you for a week now. I want to spend time with you. Do you know how hard it was to not have Shima ask pointed questions when I asked him to chase you down?”
His classmate friend crush smiled at him, and he made the effort to smile back.
“Sure.”

kind of random and I am sorry for that but how is your dog doing? I noticed you haven't posted anything about him for quite a while...
Hi and thanks for asking. Hiro is doing well and you’re right, I haven’t been posting much about him lately. I’ve been busy with so many things I’ve forgotten to post.
Well, Hiro went to the vet for his annual vaccines and the veterinarian said he is in perfect health. He loves sleeping on our sofa and he got a new toy and bandanna. And on the weekends, we started going to a dog park close to my home.
Here’s a few pics of Hiro. Once again thanks for asking about him.

for the drabble challenge: #111 for Datastorm, please :> (omg so many are just plain awesome x'D ooohh especially #136 *melts*)
#111: “You can’t just hug me and think everything is OK.”
note: set in Humans Givens verse, so Yuusaku and Ryouken are children having run away from Dr. Kougami and living under the guardianship of Kusanagi.
Yuusaku finds Ryouken with his knees pulled up to his chin, tucked at the furthest end of the park, at the back woods where the trees grow thickest and not a single voice breaks the shivering silence. Frost bites his toes, wrapped up in damp socks; he'd run out of the hotdog truck without even stopping to grab his jacket or slip on his shoes, and the damp morning air and dewy ground make quite an uncomfortable spot for him.
Carefully, Yuusaku crouches down in front of him, hands folding under his chin. Ryouken's long bangs swept over his eyes, with his face bent down towards his chest. If he's crying, Yuusaku wouldn't know—but he can't hear the sounds of sobbing, and Ryouken remains stiffer than a board with even his shoulders wobbling.
"Are you crying?" Yuusaku finally asks, leaning down further to catch even a glimpse of Ryouken's face.
Ryouken curls up tighter, scrunching his knees against his chest. "Go 'way."
"But we can't leave the van," he presses. "Kusanagi's going to say—"
"I don't care what he says."
Even the cold air feels warmer than Ryouken's words, crashing into him like an arctic wind.
"I don't care what he says about anything. He's—he's not my—"
My father. The words stick like hot tar on his tongue. Yuusaku only vaguely remembers Dr. Kougami, the Bad Man who put him in the Bad Room. It seems impossible for that horrible man to be Ryouken's father, but even after all the time they've spent at Kusanagi's, Ryouken still thinks about his father. He knows it. While Yuusaku feels safer each day at Kusanagi's side, he notices Ryouken straying away, wanting to spend more time alone with his thoughts or staring at the window watching fathers and sons walk to town together. Even when Kusanagi takes them out, each holding onto one of his weathered hands, Ryouken's gaze travels to the other pedestrians.
"We should still go back," he says, swirling a finger in the ground. He stretches a hand out to Ryouken, meant only to grasp the hem of his sleeve, but Ryouken pulls back as if stung.
"No."
"Then ..." Dropping to the ground, Yuusaku crosses his legs and plants his hands. "I'll stay here with you."
"Then you're just going to get in trouble too."
That will be fine, he thinks. Kusanagi won't get too upset with him. Worst of all, he'll be more worried than angry, and he'll make them take a bath to warm up and heat up brothy soup to drink.
The wet ground soaks into his pants and sleeves, and Yuusaku pulls himself back up onto his feet and crouches above the ground. He slips in next to Ryouken, so that they crouch side by side, shoulder to shoulder, with but a hair’s breadth of space between them. With each shaky exhale, Ryouken's arms brush against him. Out of the corner of his eye, Yuusaku sees his white face pinched together like he's trying to hold himself back from screaming and lashing out.
Gently, Yuusaku tips himself to the side. His shoulder touches Ryouken first, and then his body follows, until his entire weight rests against Ryouken. Ryouken feels even colder than the morning air, and his breath puffs against his cheek.
"I can't hold you up ..."
Yuusaku scooches closer, tucking himself against Ryouken, feet planted on the ground. He feels even steadier, and though his bangs he sees Ryouken's dry eyes peeking out. Not a single tears clings to his long, dark lashes.
"You can't ..."
His arm wraps around Ryouken's trembling shoulders.
"Y-you can't just h—hug me and t-think everything is OK."
"But everything is OK," he says.
"Says who?"
"Dr. Jin."
"He's lying."
"And Kusanagi."
"He's lying to us too."
Had Ryouken says those words to him so long ago, back when he would have been the one scampering out the door and cowering behind a tree in the park, he would have shut right out. He would have never even trusted either of them, and sometimes, when the world seems dark and bleak, he doubts their trust. But in all the time they've been together, neither Kusanagi nor Dr. Jin have ever tried to harm him or Ryouken. They're kind adults, grown-ups he can trust and rely on.
They wouldn't lie to him.
"Adults lie to kids," Ryouken says through his teeth, "so that we don't worry."
"But Kusanagi doesn't lie," Yuusaku says. He knows it.
"He tells lies that kids like me and you can't figure out—but he lies."
Yuusaku shakes his head, back and forth so that his bangs dust his cold cheeks. But he holds his tongue from saying anything further and nestles against Ryouken's side. He feels each of Ryouken's shivery breaths until they still in his lungs and he extracts himself from his tight cocoon. Limbs creak and groan as he settles on the dewy ground. One of his arms slips round Yuusaku's back.
"Kusanagi's going to be mad at us," Ryouken says at last. When he pulls himself up, Yuusaku sees his first proper look at Ryouken's face: watery eyes and nose, and cheeks pink and blistered. He gives his face a good scrub with his shirt sleeve and then rubs it on his pant leg. "Come on, we'll head back."
On the tip of his tongue is a longing to ask Ryouken just what happened—why he ran out in the first place and why he so readily wants to turn back. But he keeps the thoughts to himself as he follows Ryouken back through the quiet forest, unmarred by human voices.
Maybe Ryouken has secrets too.
Maybe Ryouken lies to him too so that he doesn't worry.
