My first itabag! A bit of this a bit of that, ROTTMNT, Tsuritama and Chainsaw Man with a touch of Sonic, Dorohedoro, Gintama, Pandora Hearts, Osomatsu-san and ocs.

It’s a bit of a mess but I love the hobby and I doubt this’ll be my last one, I might tweak this one a bit too, or get another insert to swap out. Some charms at the bottom hang too low, and there were other things I wanted to put in the bottom corners too. I might put a big Hozuki keychain I have on the side hmm… With this size it’d have been fun building around putting in my 12" Metal Sonic Jazwares figure and a Metal Sonic plush I have, but ahh some other day… I struggled with it because the weight of it all made the insert sag and fold over, I didn’t see anything on the topic online so what I did is I found a big sturdy cardboard, and pinned the finished insert to it… Two cardboards for good measure. Oh also my badges have reflective plastic covers.

Interestingly, the Metal Sonic plush in the set image appears to be made from soft fabric, whilst the actual plush was made with vinyl.

The set has been entirely bootlegged in more recent years. The Metal Sonic bootleg is infamous for looking extremely silly.

Ok, so.

Im mutuals with this one person and i didn't know anything about sonic but they reblogged stuff from it sometimes and once they reblogged a post with some angsty screenshots from the metal virus arc. And i was like, woa, some nice angst and good art, i need to check this out, and then i promptly forgot about it for like over a year.

And then, this november i was walking around a shopping center with two of my friends waiting for class and we walked into some bootleg toy store and there were some awful looking sonic plushes and i was like, hey that's sonic, and i didn't know anything about it but i knew the characters names and i knew Tails has two tails but the plush didn't have ANY and i was just laughing at them and then later i remembered the cool comic screenshots i saw a long time ago and i thought about it for like two weeks and then i read the idw comics. And they were good. 👍👍👍👍 voila

watching some videos on sonic plushie history <- autism and like. they're talking about the sonic fighters plush line which was a big deal to me as a kid but obvs the plushies were rare and expensive back then too so nowadays its hard as hell to get non bootleg versions (tho i may get the Fang bootleg cuz i love Fang and he is undoubtedly the most popular of the og set)

But growing up for me metal sonic was my fave character. Nowadays he's like my 2nd fave but back then i LOVED metal sonic. But there was legit NO official plush of him, or at least no good official plush iirc. Literally the only plush for him on the market was the Sonic Fighters plush, and considering how rare they were, made him go for 200+ dollars. I at age 8 did not have that kind of money, so I sulked and gave up...

then, fast forward to me when I was around 15-ish and obvs still a big sonic fan but I was in another hyperfixation at the time. I was at a bookstore and they had a plushie section and I glanced for fun, and they had some sonic dolls. Sonic tails n knuckles notably, the works, but then I saw a METAL SONIC plush and I was like ???!???? what and I looked it up and apparently since I was little, metal sonic has gotten a LOT more attention, which makes sense. He used to literally only be in Sonic CD (game that was only widely accessible once it got ported to the gamecube 12 years later) Sonic Fighters (barely known arcade game, again accessible only a decade later via gamecube) and Sonic OVA (barely known not-movie). So it made sense he wasn't like the number 1 priority for merch. But nowadays, SO many more games and comics include metal sonic, he's a lot more popular (he was popular back then with those in the fanbase p sure, but for casual n youger fans my age, i dont think many cared or knew abt him rlly)

So it makes sense they make metal sonic plushies nowadays, but when i first saw it in the store, it BLEW MY MIND bc like I had ALWAYS wanted one but there just legit weren't any. And now they were widespread enough to be in STORES...i kinda stood in shock for a bit

anyways, to fulfill my childhood self im gonna finally buy a metal sonic plush here some day.
