i feel like Jonathan and Mike are a great representation of the whole "people care about mental health until you're showing your symptoms and they're ugly"
(apparently i'm really pissed so this turned into an angry rant)
the fandom hates them and talks about how their characters are ruined and how they miss the old version etc when they're both just traumatised boys who's been bottling up their emotions for so long and now they have to deal with the consequences
Jonathan has been both physically and mentally abused since he was a child, he had to help to raise his little brother, has to work while going to school because they need the money and then the whole thing with UD happened, he literally had to go casket shopping for his little brother while he thought his mother is slowly losing her mind jesus christ that is so much trauma and he doesn't have anyone he doesn't have any friends he only has Will but he's still the big brother and he won't "burden" his little brother who's dealing with so much shit already himself. and Nancy. he has Nancy. Nancy with whom he's distant now after moving to California. Argyle is literally his first and only friend. he never had anyone who he can vent to. who would listen and comfort him. who would help him deal with all the shit. he's been bottling up and burying his emotions down down and yet some of yall are hating him for the way it makes him act and he tries to cope with them
Mike had been bullied his whole life, he's lost Will so many times already, he's lost El, he's seen people die, he's seen what the UD shit can do to the poeple he loves and add to it all the internalised homophobia and all the shit god he's just a kid and already has so much trauma and his parents don't even know so he can't talk to them about it. he never talks about his own feelings. he just represses them he bottles them up he burries them deep down and won't let himself feel them. the only person he can talk to is Will. Will who he loses over and over again. Will who he's distant with right now and feels like he lost him yet again. Will who makes him feel the way the society tells him is fucking wrong and he can't talk to him about it. his mental health is so fucked up and makes him act like a jerk because that's what fucking depression does to you. the way depression makes you act is ugly. and yet some of yall are hating him for it. for being a kid who is trying to cope and survive while battling his own trauma and the demons it left him with
yes they are just fictional characters but there's a reason why some of us see ourselves in them. it's because they're relatable. the way they handle they're trauma and cope is relatable. and you would see that if you would watch the show with your eyes actually fucking open

fnaf movie baseless speculation
I am an ardent Mike Schmidt = Mike Afton defender, and so these are my current thoughts after watching the new security video from the troll game.
First of all, link to the video for the uninitiated:
youtube
Onto my initial thoughts!
The emphasis on the forest, alongside the bottle of pills on the desk, that at one point gets grabbed by someone, makes me seriously think about FNAF 4 and how dreams were mixed with reality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has bugged a lot of people, including myself, as to WHY there is a Freddy "saw trap" that we see Mike trapped in from multiple trailers. Well, in my totally biased opinion that is because we are witnessing a dream, or more specifically, a nightmare.
It is common for people to bury their traumatic memories, especially if that trauma occurred as a child. It would make sense that Mike wouldn't want to recall what happens.
And are we REALLY acting like nightmares are a STRETCH in this series? We have been over this time and time again.
I just think that its funny that we keep getting little glimpses of William---er i mean---Steve Raglan---only in that office scene. It's bizarre, for such an 'unimportant' character to receive so much screen-time in all the trailers and such. But of course we know that he is William Afton. We have known this since the casting was announced. So why then? Why do we only see such a small fragment of footage of him? (of course, outside of the spring-bonnie suit I mean).
Well, to delve further into the land of speculation, I believe that is because other scenes he is in give away too much of the plot they are keeping under wraps.
I made a joke about it, but it is odd.. that they choose to refer to Mike Schmidt (again, something that we have known since the cast announcement) as just Mike.
So! Back to the new footage.
"Garrett!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At approximately 2:05 of the video one of the bottom cameras cuts to a someone screaming the name Garrett. Now, to me this is young Mike. In the background I see the same trees from the forest we keep cutting back to. Which one? oh yeah, the ones where we see a discombobulated Mike, seeing dead kids!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now... wait a second... what do we have here?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the new footage. A brunette boy, wearing a long sleeved green shirt and blue jeans, running in a patch of dry grass....
I don't know about you. But the sky colored background, with the long narrow lines, can only mean one thing. Trees. And a sky.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the pills. RIGHT AFTER we see the saw trap on the monitors, and it goes to the next footage... we see a hand come on screen to take away the pills.
Tumblr media
Saw trap (nightmare) + Pills on desk still
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No more pills.
(Yes. they come back later in the video. But the point being SOMEBODY GRABBED THEM after seeing the saw trap footage).
Oh yeah. speaking of the Freddy "saw trap"... where does this attack you? Oh yeah. On the head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That couldn't possibly be someone's repressed memories about an extremely traumatic event about a certain head injury coming to light in visions or nightmares. Could it?
ONE MORE!
Saw trap appears again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pills -- no pills -- they've disappeared again. Interesting. (They actually fade in and fade out of existence in this segment-- but I think I'm gonna hit the image limit soon so... see it for yourself.)
Thanks for reading my rambles. <3 If I find more I'll make a sequel to this post and I'll link it in the reblogs.

Lying In Wait: Mike Pence Prepares To Take The Presidency
Tumblr media
There is no question, Vice President Mike Pence is the worst of the two evils.
While Donald Trump may be a chest thumping, ego maniacal womanizer who brags about his nuclear button, laments over his small hands and has become a international meme, the Man behind the curtain is much more dangerous.
As nations around the globe laugh at the antics of Trump, whether because of his outrageous twitter attacks against celebrities, lying about his inauguration attendance or rambling about covfefe, we in America have accepted that he is no more relative to national strategy or politics than a potato.
Thus far, in his 13 months as President, Trump’s only personal success has been embarrassing himself before a world audience on a daily basis. Our plight as a country has become a running joke to so many who seem bizarrely detached from this new reality in which we are trying to adapt. It has more to do with social media desensitizing us to the nightmarish consequences of tragedy than simple indifference. We’re used to seeing pictures of dead immigrant children washed up on beaches and bodies piled up on top of rubble after a horrific bombing in Aleppo. Human beings have put on an emotional armor that has conditioned them to be unaffected, mostly to protect themselves from slipping into a sense of hopelessness and defeat. “Thoughts and prayers” via a few quick keyboard strokes have substituted genuine reactions to the suffering of others we witness with alarming frequency.
This unsettling separation of ourselves from dangerous truths and inevitable consequences is partly how a man like Donald Trump became President. While many voted for him, purely motivated by an impractical rage against the establishment, others did it for the comedic value. Republicans didn’t believe it could happen until they were suddenly faced with him as their newly minted nominee. Democrats were lulled into a sense of absolute security by gallup polls, expert commentary and news coverage which declared Hillary Clinton as a guaranteed landslide winner… so millions didn’t even bother to vote.
Partisan politics have destroyed democracy. We’re no longer hearing topics debated on senate floor; Instead politics are the new Superbowl and you’re either team Democratic Donkeys or Republican Elephants. Americans are divided by Red and Blue and they are ferociously loyal to their color. Social issues are irrelevant. So are economics, foreign relations, civil rights and the most basic of all, common sense. It is more important to win than to be right, regardless of the damage done in the process or pursuit of “Winning.” A surprising number of people who voted for Trump have experienced voter regret, realizing that the delight the thought they’d take from seeing him give ‘snowflake liberals’ a sharp upper-hook, was also dealt to them. Some are smart enough to feel betrayed. Others are so blindly devoted to their own team that they don’t mind being a casualty of it, as if they view themselves as a willing- and necessary sacrificial lamb required for the political Gods to destroy the other side and favor theirs.
Unfortunately, for Republicans, it was Trump they found occupying their political God seat. They’ve watched in sheer terror as he, and the unqualified lackeys he has appointed to power positions, have disassembled America’s perception of fairness, progress and priority.
In an unusual partnership, Donald Trump’s Vice President, Mike Pence, has been unusually quiet throughout most of the their reign so far. While Trump spent time in his first year campaigning for his next Presidential bid in 2020, Pence rarely made public or media appearances, and when he did, he was tactful rather than defensive; well practiced in dodging the damning questions hurled at him regarding his boss. It’s clear that Pence maintains a far more Presidential demeanor that Trump, manicuring his responses and speeches instead of vomiting his words all over the podium.
It has been speculated that inner-circle Republicans have anticipated Trump’s impeachment from the onset. Trump and his campaign have been beleaguered by legal troubles since he took the oath of office. Allegations of collusion with Russian entities and election tampering, obstruction of justice, failing to divest from his business investments, misuse of campaign funds, accusations of sexual misconduct and even extramarital affairs with multiple adult film stars remain ongoing. Yet, while Trump takes to twitter at 4 am to ridicule celebrities, foreign leaders even those players on his own team, Pence remains quietly on the sidelines as Trump slowly self destructs.
Pence’s visible distance from Trump isn’t incidental, but an act of self preservation. Nearly 40 White House staff have resigned or been fired since Trump assumed power, falling on the sword of Special Investigator Robert Mueller who has been tasked with examining Trump and his closest allies. Four Trump advisers were arrested before the incoming administration could decorate their new offices.
Pence never comments on these circumstances, instead leaving White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders to volley questions from Democratic colleagues and the media. Pence is meticulous about where he steps on a lawn full of droppings, and the suggestion has been made that his actions are fully premeditated. Having his eye planted firmly on the throne, he understands he must avoid getting dirty.
youtube
The Atlantic reported last month in an article called “God’s Plan For Mike Pence” that Pence’s wife, Second Lady Karen Pence, finds Donald Trump’s behavior “Vile.” Indeed, she would given that she and her husband are deeply convicted to their Christian religion. That alone made the Trump/Pence coupling extremely odd, especially considering Trump’s reckless attacks on women and his vulgar, brash behavior. Meanwhile, Pence is a polished politician, whose voting history and on-the-record comments as Governor of Indiana reveals someone with unwavering faith- to a disturbing degree.
Pence has voted against marriage equality. He voted to to uphold the archaic military policy of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. When asked about his stance on gay rights, Trump intercepted the inquiry to say, “Don’t ask that guy, he wants to hang them all.” He has voted against a women’s right to sovereignty over their own body. He has neglected the needs of people of color in Indiana, contributing to a political system that imprisons more black men than it provides access to school. He condemned anti-racism efforts- even walked out of an NFL game where the players knelt peacefully to protest inequality and police brutality afflicting the black community. Pence has never spoken out against the alt-right activists that have violently attacked minorities, but sat back while Trump defended the self-described white supremacists as “Some very fine people.” Pence is known to keep the company of White Nationalists.
Pence has a very specific definition of America and who it belongs to. In Pence’s vision, the only citizens deserving of opportunity, justice and equality are white, male, straight, cisgender and christian. His history of actions and remarks provide irrefutable evidence that he believes anyone who slips outside these boundaries are second class citizens.
Much of what drives Pence is his radical religious extremism. Although Pence keeps a very low profile, we do know that he has weaponized his religion to harm people who do not share his world views. As governor he signed the Freedom Of Religion Bill which began by allowing radicals like himself to discriminate against LGBT people without consequence. As a result, he received intense push-back from democrats and progressives alike and he was forced to implement amendments that included LGBT residents of the state. Unhappy with having to compromise his belief system as Governor, once he became Vice President, he counseled Trump on the founding of the new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division, which achieves what he failed to do as governor- sanction abuse and discrimination against LGBT Americans by any individual who wishes to deny them service or treatment based on religious or moral objection. The department allows medical professionals to deny care to LGBT identifying people with no consequence, even if they die as a result of their neglect.
According to new reports, Pence was also the one who drafted the new ban that disqualifies Transgender identifying individuals from enlisting in the military. Not a surprise considering ex-White House Aide, Omarosa Manigault Newman, who, like so many others before and after, was fired by John Kelly for misusing the White House car service claimed that working in Trump’s administration as a the only Black woman on staff was both isolating and disturbing. She stated that she could not reconcile the gross mishandling of racial issues by the Trump administration and stay silent. In fact, as the only Black Republican who had access to Trump and Pence, many people of color saw her as a traitor who refused to represent their interests and instead sold them out. After her dismissal, she came forward stating that she was prevented from discussing the topics that were relevant with the president because other staffers deliberately kept her away.
Soon after leaving the white house, she returned to her roots on reality television with CBS’s Big Brother where to spoke about the possibility of Pence moving into the Oval Office;
“Can I just say this? As bad as y’all think Trump is, you should be worried about Pence. We would be begging for days of Trump back if Pence became president.” — Omarosa Manigault Newman
Omarosa made claims about a sort of White hierarchy in the administration where diversity did not exist in its upper ranks. The White House could not prove her wrong. Communications director Sarah Sanders found no evidence to the contrary when, during a press conference, she was grilled about the accusation. It seems The White House is now a literal representation of the inhabitants.

The 2016 Democratic Interns vs The 2018 Republican Interns — Spot the difference
We cannot fault any man or woman for their personal faith. After all, in America, we have the freedom to choose which system of belief to follow, if any at all. It becomes problematic when a radical Christian, like Pence, from his position begins implementing laws, bans and limitations on innocent Americans because he believes he is serving his God’s purpose. Last I checked, we still had a separation of Church and State, albeit weakly enforced and slowly dying.
Omarosa continued to provide insight on life with Pence in the White House; “He’s extreme. I’m Christian. I love Jesus, but he thinks Jesus tells him to say things.” When the topic turned to immigration, things even got more terrifying;
“I’ve seen the plans- the round-up plan is getting more and more aggressive. The crackdowns are happening and they’re aggressive. They’re intentional and they’re going to get worse.” — Omarosa Manigault Newman
Pence never responds to the accusations of racism, elitism, misogyny, bigotry or his radicalism. Instead, we have to unearth the dark reality of Pence’s nature from inside sources, past comments and his voting record. He allows his actions to speak for themselves and will not risk further qualifying his tumultuous past by addressing it. It could put thorns in his path to the presidency.
And he believes, as do many others in the administration, that he will assume the Presidency. Despite Donald Trump appearing to be made of teflon, it’s starting to wear thin. As the scandals and controversies, arrests and indictments pile up around Donald Trump, Pence is patiently lying in wait, biding his time, watching as Trump digs himself a hole that he’ll never climb out of.
Today the Republicans are starting to discuss Donald Trump’s impeachment. It begs the question; Has this been the Pence plan from the beginning? While he has been responsible for ghostwriting some of the most discriminatory, hate-motivated legislation in decades that have been attributed to Trump, that seems to have been intentional. Pence and co. have been content in allowing Trump to take the flack, because he’s not intelligent enough to understand he’s being puppeteered. He’s like an obnoxious little kid begging to play a video game, so his elders unplug the remote and let him think he’s playing while they discreetly maintain control. There’s no way Trump could independently come up with all of the damaging, religious rhetoric from a golf course. In 2018, he has taken more than 15 vacations.
Pence, however, has stayed at the White House, drafting up the future of America under his Presidency.

20 Fantasy Hockey Thoughts
Every Sunday, we'll share 20 Fantasy Thoughts from our writers at DobberHockey. These thoughts are curated from the past week's "Daily Ramblings".
Writers: Michael Clifford, Ian Gooding, Cam Robinson, and Dobber
  1. Will Jake Virtanen, who has been considered an underachiever after being selected as a high first-round pick right before William Nylander and Nikolaj Ehlers, show at least a minor breakout and hit 20 goals? Well, he’s only got 13 to go and over three-quarters of the season left. And he’s scored more goals than Nylander and Ehlers combined this season (I know, I know, I cherry-picked that one). But because of the Brock Boeser groin injury, which is now being called week to week, Virtanen could be on the Canucks’ top line for at least a few more games. (nov11)
  2. Sergei Bobrovsky seems to be waking up. He made 33 of 34 stops on Friday night to beat the defending Cup champion Capitals 2-1.
Bob has allowed a single goal in four of his last five starts and his save percentage is inching closer to league average. He sits at .909 on the season but he has a 0.952 mark stretching back to October 30th.
The Blue Jackets need him to be the backbone if they plan on making any noise this year. Bob’s wallet needs it too. We all know he’s looking for big-time money this summer. A down year won’t play out well for him. (nov10)
  3. David Rittich didn’t break a huge sweat in earning his first career shutout, stopping all 21 shots he faced against a sagging Kings’ team Saturday. Rittich has now earned wins in his last three games, which has now forced Flames’ coach Bill Peters to use Mike Smith and him as a timeshare over the last half-dozen games. With how much better Rittich (1.91 GAA, .935 SV%) has played over Smith (3.66 GAA, .872 SV%), he has at least earned that much. Rittich could certainly be owned in more Yahoo leagues than he is (just 17 percent at the moment). (nov11)
  4. Charlie McAvoy may have played only seven games and is still looking to return from injury, but he leads the NHL in secondary assist rate, having put up four total in those seven games. That’s going to pull back when he returns to the lineup, obviously.
Researching this at mid-week, though, pointed me to something else for McAvoy: his shot rate is horrific. Through those seven games and 522 players with at least 100 minutes at 5v5, he ranked 473rd in shot rate. Among defensemen only, he was 156th out of 188. That’s bad.
Again, it’s only seven games and we’re still waiting for him to return from injury, so maybe things will change. This is more something to keep an eye on than something to be worried about at the moment, though some extremely handsome Dobber Associate Editor warned over the summer that he was being over-drafted. (nov9)
  5. If you think I’ve been spamming the Ramblings lately with too much Elias Pettersson talk, I apologize. Dekey Pete, or the Alien, or whatever you want to call him is running away with the Calder race with 17 points in 12 games. The next-highest rookie? Try Colin White, with six goals and 11 points. His Sens’ teammate, Brady Tkachuk, with eight points in six games is back from injury, so he might have been able to make it a bit more of a race than it is now. (nov7)
  6. Thomas Chabot has been out of his mind this season. He’s tied for third spot on the NHL scoring leaderboard with 22 points in 16 games. Of those 22 points, 13 are secondary assists.
Now, I don’t need to tell you that Chabot won’t be playing at a 113-point pace for the remainder of the season, but many are climbing on him as a player capable of 75-plus. He’s banked enough points now to clear 50 if he stays healthy but anything more than 55 should be considered huge value. (nov10)
I’d definitely be shopping him around in one-year leagues and taking swings at some whales in keepers with him as a key piece heading out of the door.
  7. For those looking to the future, Jack Hughes and his USNTDP mates were in the Czech Republic this week for the under-18 Five Nations Tournament. Here’s what he done as of Friday:
Game 1 – Two goals, two assists Game 2 – Three goals, two assists Game 3 – One goal, FIVE assists
The consensus number one selection in the upcoming draft has 15 points in three contests and has been dominating all over the ice. He sits firmly in the pole position for my recently updated 2019 NHL Draft Rankings. (nov10)
  8. Playing on a line with Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz will definitely help, which is where Ryan O’Reilly found himself in place of the injured Brayden Schenn this past week. If Schenn remains out of the lineup, then the red-hot O’Reilly’s fantasy value becomes, well, scorching hot. (nov7)
  9. Freddie Andersen’s inability to show up in October and November has become routine in past seasons but he appears to have shaken that habit in 2018-19. Andersen shares the league lead in wins with nine and is sporting a 0.933 save percentage. Roll him out without hesitation. (nov10)
  10. The Oilers have sent both Kailer Yamamoto and Jesse Puljujarvi to the AHL. They have a combined three points and have been healthy scratched numerous times, so this appears to be the best move as far as their long-term development goes. This should also cement Ty Rattie on the Connor McDavid line, as if there were any doubt. (nov11)
  11. Before stepping in the ice against the Jets on Friday, Mikko Rantanen’s secondary assist rate (1.53 per 60 minutes) was more than double last year’s mark (0.73). For reference on that 1.53, of all players with 1000 5v5 minutes in 2017-18, no one was above 0.90. At this rate, he’ll surpass last season’s secondary assist total (14) before Christmas. That obviously won’t happen.
The thing is, even if we take a few assists off his current point total, Rantanen would still have 21 points in 16 games. He also has yet to score at 5v5 this year. If that were to normalize and he has two or three goals, that makes for the drop in second assist rate.
Long story short, there are reasons to believe Rantanen’s point rate will decline (no, he won’t put up 125 points or whatever) but the secondary assist rate at 5v5 should drop in somewhat similar proportions to the increase in 5v5 goal scoring. I wouldn’t worry about those two things specifically. (nov9)
  12. Sabres’ Jeff Skinner has scored all of his 12 goals to date over the last 13 games after being held without a point over his first four games. He is already halfway toward his goal total from all of last season. As long as he’s lining up with Jack Eichel, he appears to be a big winner in last summer’s offseason moves. (nov11)
  13. I just wanted to casually mention Brent Burns because even as his individual shot rate has declined – over four shots per game last year to three so far this year – his production has been as good as could be hoped for. Maybe he doesn’t push 30 goals again, but if he managed 15 goals and 65 assists, will anyone really be angry with that?
It’s fascinating because his 5v5 shot and TOI rates have declined and yet because of the potency of the Sharks, his production has increased. His IPP is normal and his on-ice shooting percentage is normal. In other words, even if he sees a small power play point decline for the rest of the season, his five-on-five production rates should remain fairly constant as long as the Sharks keep shooting and scoring as they are with him on the ice right now, which is a distinct possibility.
All this is to say that even with Burns’s shot decline, he’s a very real threat to be a point-per-game player this year. That’s about as much as we can ask for from any fantasy hockey defenseman. (nov8)
  14. With John Klingberg expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks, Miro Heiskanen took over first-unit power-play duties for the Stars on Saturday. Although he was held without a point, Heiskanen logged a career-high 29 minutes. As Cam Robinson mentioned in Saturday’s Ramblings, Heiskanen is worth grabbing immediately if he’s still available in your league.
Julius Honka, who is also worth paying attention to while Klingberg is out, recorded an assist in 17 minutes of ice time. His power-play time was limited to just 12 seconds, though. This stretch without Klingberg will be telling as to whether Honka has much of a future as a fantasy contributor. Otherwise, he might be headed down a similar career path as someone like Derrick Pouliot. (nov11)
  15. I’m sticking to my guns in that I believe Kings’ new coach, Willie Desjardins, will spread out the minutes more evenly than John Stevens did, particularly with the forward lines. In the end, this may not affect their production if the extra minutes aren’t helping their production. I know what kind of player Anze Kopitar is, but I just can’t see him logging 23 minutes per game in a Willie D system if the fourth liners are providing solid hustle. (nov7)
  16. With four goals in 17 games, it’s already apparent that Golden Knights’ William Karlsson won’t match last-season’s out-of-nowhere 43 goals. But with 14 points in 17 games, Karlsson is at least earning his keep on fantasy rosters. Karlsson scored a goal and added two assists on Saturday but the goal was his first in seven games. (nov11)
  17. Lately, I’ve been seeing quite a few questions about dropping Max Pacioretty, which I first brought up a week ago. With no points again on Tuesday, Patches now has just two points (both goals) in 13 games. Somehow, I think the law of averages is going to make his statline look a little better but if I were his owner, I’d be running out of patience. And those who ask me questions know that I don’t run out of patience on star players that easily. Simply put, Patches has 39 points over his last 77 games played (both this season and last). If you decide to buy low, buy really low. (nov7)
  18. A week after the MGM partnership announcement, the NHL has announced another partnership, this one with FanDuel, the daily fantasy sports site. Beyond advertising, the partnership will include things like contests for ‘experiences’ like the Winter Classic.
From someone who plays a lot of DFS, all I have to say is, “lol.” FanDuel is horrific for NHL contests. No site is perfect, but their problems over the years have run from things like egregious mis-pricing of players, incorrect positions for players, players missing from the player pool for games on end, and there was one night they listed Jamie Benn as his brother Jordie and vice versa.
Maybe an official partnership will force to get FanDuel to fix their myriad problems with the NHL offerings. Then again, we’re talking about the NHL, and accurate numbers is not something we’ve grown accustomed to from them, either. Good on the NHL for realizing they need to get into the DFS and gambling spheres but choosing FanDuel as an official partner is like deciding to go on a diet and getting all your salads from Wendy’s. (nov6)
  19. I noticed Jan Kovar has eight points in seven games with Providence of the AHL. Very interesting, and kudos to him for signing an AHL tryout agreement and betting on himself. I’d love to see him earn his way back to the NHL. (nov5)
  20. Fresh off his big signed contract extension, Yanni Gourde scored in OT Sunday and now has 54 points in his last 58 games. His ice time is eking up accordingly, and now that he’s being paid like a true scoring star, the trend will only continue. I feel like a picked this diamond in the rough five years ago (Prospects Report), soured on him eighteen months ago, got back on board midseason last year…but still dialed back expectations for 2018-19 having felt he overreached. Overall, it feels like a failure, but at the same time a nice call, depending on how far back you go with my writing. But I don’t like wavering back and forth on a guy, I like to evaluate long term and stick with that long-term vision, never to be shaken by some short-term events. With Gourde, I just didn’t think he could do what Jonathan Marchessault does. I’m sold now and that juicy contract seals it. His upside is just as high.
Tampa Bay signing smaller, undrafted players: Marchessault, Gourde and Tyler Johnson. Not too shabby.
So, who is next on the list? Perhaps Alex Barre-Boulet, signed earlier this year. Undrafted with 116 points as an overager in the QMJHL last year, he already has six points in 10 games with Syracuse, and he’s 5-9. We’ll find out in 2022 I guess. (nov5)
  Have a good week, folks!!

okay i don't want to be THAT bitch but if El calls out Mike on his bullshit in s5 how the love confession was shit and untrue i do kinda want Mike to turn around and be like "okay well what do you love me for?" because let's be real girl would not have an answer for that 💀
and maybe it would be good to be the last thing that would make her go oh i've never loved him that way either
like yes she totally should throw everything in Mike's face cause she deserves so much better but let's not pretend like she's a good girlfriend to him and it's just Mike being the problem
this fucker has been depressed and struggling for months and like did she ever even ask how is he doing? not her fault but the fact that Mike has been struggling and never once thought about talking to El because he doesn't feel like he can be vulnerable with her? the fact that he pretends he's someone he's not because he feels like she wouldn't want him for who he is? seriously no hate to El i love her to bits and yes Mike is bigger asshole in this but we really need to stop acting like El is perfect and can do no wrong
and that one time in s4 when Mike actually tried to be vulnerable with her and let her know that he understands because he's been bullied his whole life and she just invalidates his feelings and completely dismisses him? i do understand her pov and what she meant but as someone who's also been bullied and have so many people invalidate my feelings and how it affected me and still affects me to this day all the time it really hurt to hear it. the way Mike's feelings are constantly being invalidated and dismissed by both the characters in the show and this fandom just because "others have it worse" really disgusts me
anyways i really just want to point out that this is a relationship. there are two people in this relationship and it all goes both ways. it's not just Mike being an asshole friend and a shitty boyfriend. El isn't really a great girlfriend either and when they were just hanging out together the whole summer it is on El too. they're both just kids trying to do their best and making mistakes we can acknowledge that both of them make some really questionable things so they both can grow and learn

broke: Mike needs to be needed and Will is going to always need him and that's why they're perfect for each other
woke: Mike needs to be needed because he believes everyone wants him in their lifes only if they need him. he doesn't see his worth unless he can be useful to others. he doesn't believe that anyone would ever just simply want him in their life for no other reason then just because they love him. but Will does. Will loves him so much and that's why he needs him. he doesn't need Mike in the way because Mike is useful to him. Will just simply wants him in his life. he loves Mike for who he is and not for what he can provide. he can teach Mike that he deserves and should be loved for just being here and not for what he can do. and that's why they're perfect for each other

i love when people talk about how they miss the old Mike
trust me you're not alone
i bet Mike misses his old self that wasn't completely ruined and traumatised by all the shit he's been through in the past years too
i bet Mike misses the old Mike who doesn't know the fear and pain and grief of losing his best friend the Mike that doesn't know loss
the Mike that doesn't wake up screaming in the middle of the night because he keeps seeing his best friends dead body being pulled out of water
the Mike that doesn't dream about monsters killing everyone he cares about while he's not able to save them
the Mike who doesn't know what it's like to survive and live on while others couldn't
the Mike who didn't have to watch the girl who became his friend disappear right in front of him because she sacrificed herself to save them to safe him
the Mike who doesn't know what death looks and smells like the Mike who doesn't know the disgusting sqealching sound of someone being eaten alive
the Mike who never saw dead bodies and the woman who feels like a second mother to him break down right in front of him because she just lost someone she loves
the Mike who doesn't know the feeling of stepping off and not feeling anything under your feet and just falling down down and it was his choice to do so
the Mike who never had to hear his best friends painful screams as he's being burned the Mike that never had to lose his best friend over and over and sometimes it's his own fault and that hurts the most
the Mike that didn't have to break himself into pieces trying to seem normal trying to act normal trying so hard to love the girl everyone told him he's supposed to love instead of him
the Mike that was able to just be a kid the Mike that was able to look at his best friend without feeling so much pain and shame and without hiding all the love he has for him
yeah you may miss the old Mike but i bet no one misses him so desperately as Mike himself

oh and while i'm still on my rewatching bullshit
in season 2 episode 8 when they realise that the mind flayer spies through Will and Mike tells them that they need to put him to sleep
Will starts yelling and screaming that he's lying and to let him go
you can see Mike putting his hands over his ears so he doesn't have to hear Will screaming
my heart broke when i noticed

Mike Wheeler does not need a redemption arc he just needs therapy and a hug (lots and lots and lots of hugs and especially from Will)

the rage i feel every time i see someone say that Mike is "using El to disguise his homosexuality"
like please Mike struggling and realising his sexuality when in a relationship with El and experiencing comphet and him knowing beforehand and actively seeking this relationship and using and lying to El only to hide his sexuality are two very different things
please stop villainizing a struggling boy (especially a queer boy)

sometimes i feel so petty i want to make a big post about all the times Will and El weren't that great towards Mike just to ..you know.. balance it out a bit
#it's always here's all the times Mike hurt Will and El's feelings and never here's all the times Will and El hurt Mike's feelings#it's so unfair like i saw people hating Mike over fucking MILKSHAKES because they just had to find a reason to hate him it's so stupid#if i went on here and started hating on Will and El for not laughing at Mike's vomit green joke cause it made him sad yall would call me#absolutely crazy and delusional like be fucking for real Mike just breathes wrong in Will's or El's direction and he's the devil himself#but Will and El could literally call Mike a slur to his face and yall would be like hE dESeRvEd iT tHeY DiDnT dO aNyThiNG wRoNG like fr#there are so many small times when Mike tried to get Will's attention like the vomit green joke or the they're conspiring against me moment#and everyone always just laughs how Mike is a loser trying to get their attention but they always just ignore him or whatever but if it was#reversed? if it was Will trying to get Mike's attention only for Mike to either ignore him or yell in his face how it's stupid to be#concerned about something so small? oh yall would go ballistic suddenly yall wouldn't care how small these things are suddenly you would#want Mike fucking dead but when it's the other way around it's just funny and embarassing for Mike? and not just small things like this#when we point out how El invalidated his feelings and dismissed his bullying everyone is like oh she didn't mean that she meant it like#this she meant it like that she said it because of this and that and the situation is like this so this is why she said that#and blah blah blah she didn't do anything wrong but when it comes to Mike suddenly it doesnt matter if he meant it differently or if it was#the situation and messy feelings making him say something hurtful no he's just an asshole oh i am cursing you all#i hope you step on lego every day and your favorite snack is always sold out in every shop i hope every cat you try to call will ignore you#or hiss at you i am so tired of the double standards when it comes to Mike and willel i am so angry#mike wheeler#mike wheeler protection squad#blue's 'mike's extreme defender' ramblings#i got a little carried away in the tags but i'm not sorry i said what i said#and idc if i get hate for it cause i'm right anyways

wait there was this post i don't remember it well that talked about how Mike's parents punished him with forcing him to give up on some of his toys (childhood) and now i'm thinking if that's like a thing like it wasn't just a one time thing and they use something like that as punishment often
so in s3 when we see he already acts so weird and he's forcing himself into a relationship with El he's probably already mentally not doing well and part of him is realising his feelings for Will so Mike "giving up" on DnD isn't just him desperately trying to grow up and act more mature but what if part of him is trying to punish himself
because sometimes when you hate yourself you just deny yourself the things you love and bring you joy and sometimes you don't even realise you're doing it
i don't know i'm just thinking but it's probably stupid

not to be an extreme Mike defender (i mean i am-) but i just want to point out that El's whole idea of a romantic relationship comes from tv and we all know how they are portrayed...the moment the guy and the girl confess they're making out and fucking. the amatonormativity in tv is strong, it's also why i had such a hard time coming to terms with me being aroace. when i was younger in my mind relationships=sex/making out because that's what television told me. so El probably thought the same. that now that her and Mike are dating they have to make out all the time. Mike took unhealthy relationships he sees in his life as an example (st*ncy who were kissing all the time) and El took tv romance as an example for their relationship (where there are romantic relationships protrayed as very sexual)
anyways i'm only talking about this because often when people talk about how Mike and El are unhealthy because they only make out all the time they kind of tend to make Mike into some asshole who took advantage of a naive innocent girl who didn't know better and made her think they have to kiss all the time and i just want to point out that they both were just kids and didn't know better and only took things they saw in other relationships as examples. they both are in this situation because of the heteronormativity and amatonormativity in this society so just...maybe let's not make Mike into such a villain...

you know nobody talks about this but Mike must be so messed up cause he has two people who died and then came back and that must have messed with his emotions so bad because he never let himself grieve and then suddenly they come back and how do you deal with that?
like Will went missing and then was presumed dead he even saw his dead fucking body fake or not
no he never believed that Will is dead but why? he never had any concrete proof that he's alive. did he truly believe Will is alive or was he just not able to admit to himself that he could truly lose him?
he never really let himself grieve and work through those emotions and then suddenly they found will and he was back and yes that is so so great but also that must have taken so much toll on him. he went through a rollercoaster of emotions almost every fucking day and he never lets himself feel and work through any of it
and romantic or not he literally saw El "die" in front of him. he saw her sacrifice herself for him and his friends. and no he didn't believe she was dead and called her almost every day since then (until shit with Will started happening again) but again why? did he truly believe she's alive or yet again couldn't let himself believe she could be dead? he felt "like he's going crazy". he never let himself grieve her and then suddenly she came back (and right at the time there's a chance he could lose Will again) only for her to immediately leave to close the gate and there's a chance she could die and Will too and again he can't let himself feel any of it.
like can we even blame him for losing his shit and taking it out on Hopper?
that's just so much emotions so much grieve and fear and loss but also hope and happiness and relief and it's just too much and he never lets himself work through it he's just letting it fester and supresses it and won't let himself feel it
like that would fuck with anyone especially a 12/13 years old boy
like we talk about how Mike never gave up on Will, never believed he could be dead like Joyce and we talk about him repressing his emotions and just take those two informations and think about it, about how he never let's himself believe that Will could actually be dead cause what would that mean for Mike? so many emotions he won't let himself feel. when they find Will's fake dead body he goes through shock and grief and feeling betrayed by El because she "lied" and he snaps and takes it out on her (which she of course didn't deserve but considering everything it is understandable that Mike snapped) to feeling hopeful when El shows him Will singing his song and he realizes that Will really could be still alive and out there and he just never lets himself feel all of it and work through it he just pushes it aside and acts like it's not there and then think about the fight with El when she runs away and he thinks he could have lost the only thing that could lead him and help him to find Will and then think about how that leads to Mike jumping off of the quarry without knowing El could save him just think about it. think about all those emotions he won't ever let himself feel and work through and heal from
there's just so much grief he won't let himself feel and heal from. he never went through "5 stages of grief" or whatever he just went through denial denial denial until they came back and he didn't have to deal with grief at all
but just because you won't acknowledge those emotions, won't let yourself feel them doesn't mean they're not there and they're not totally fucking up your psyche
and this is just a part of the whole picture because there's so much more so many more emotions and problems and trauma he never gets to feel and work through and heal from
like honestly how has Mike hasn't totally broken down yet is a mystery for me. think about all of this and would you be surprised if he completely just lost his shit one day? like no that's understandable actually and yet everyone invalidates his trauma and depression and his emotions and no you know what fuck everyone for this. that boy deserves so so much better. and he's just a boy. apologise to him. now.
and sometimes it feels like people forget that internalised homophobia is not his only and worst problem. that's just the last fucking nail in the coffin. that's just that cherry on top of all the trauma that just kills it for him. that makes him lose it a little bit. that's just. wow is this not enough? am i not suffering enough? does it really have to get worse? won't i ever get a break?
*
(this is my 3am rambling so it doesn't really make sense cause my brain goes from one unfiniahed thought to another and even after i woke up i couldn't find better wording for all of this and i still don't know how to exactly put into words what i'm trying to say so sorry about that i'll just leave it here and perhaps someone makes a sense of it )

the Will deserves better than Mike argument will never make sense to me
no! he does not deserve to have the boy that's been his best friend for ten years, was always there for him, was there when he was abused by his father, did everything in his power to find him when he was kidnapped by monsters, was there by his side when he was literally posessed, who knows him better then anyone else probably, saves and hangs up every drawing by Will because it's a piece of himself Will gave away to this boy and he appreciates and adores every single one, makes him feel like he's not a mistake, the boy he's actually madly in love with
no no he deserves better!
a complete stranger with no history between them who will never know what he truly has been through and will never know him the way Mike does because they literally grew up together!!
like be fr
you see Mike acting like a jerk for like not even a year and immediately jump into thinking that Will deserves better as if there isn't almost ten years of such beautiful close friendship between them
you really think some stranger would be better than the boy who helped will go through literal hell?
