1991....There's that queen @thesherylleeralph along with #janethubert who is finally getting roles she deserved YEARS ago!! Most of you probably don't know that I didn't tell anyone I was a trained actress with a BFA when I first got to Los Angeles. I felt I HAD to focus on writing to create roles for myself and others. The term multi-hyphenate wasn't a thing. But that's what I was. After my first experience with #theartistsway I embraced the term "actswrite" (my original IG name was Kaypri Actswrite) and proclaimed: I DO BOTH. Along the way realized I'd been a producer the whole time... BTW this @ebonymagazine cover came out the year I entered @howard1867 #scandal was over two decades later!! We still got a LOT of ground to cover!! Both in front of and behind the scenes!! #bipoc members of @wgaeast @wgawest which I just joined!! ...and #dga and other unions like @iatse are still incredibly LOW. This affects onscreen representation in HUGE ways which contributes to #racism in media. Theres a big conversation about Ariel in the live action Little Mermaid being cast as a black woman, and I just want to say this. I am excited. The Little Mermaid is the first Disney movie I remember watching, the first Doll I remember having and my favorite Disney movie, and probably why I love to swim so much.

I have seen images all over or horrible racial caractures with quotes like “lololol can a black mermaid even get her hair wet?” “Can a black mermaid even swim” etc

Theres this strong reaction because what it boils down to is

WE ARE SICK OF THIS!

If you’re tired of hearing about it oh well, you going to for months 🤷🏽‍♀️

But just know imma be watching it like the big ass kid I am.
