Reposted from @bccafincorporated As we celebrate those who have a great legacy of uplifting and impacting the Black community we shine the light on Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Wright, a preacher of preachers and leader of leaders, served as the pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. He ushered thousands of members weekly to worship and influenced others to take action as mandated by the Gospel. Under his leadership, Trinity adopted the motto "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian" and has set out to make activism within and on behalf of the African American community a key aspect of the church's mission. Being an outspoken community leader, Wright has been vocal in making once-taboo issues, such as AIDS, a priority within the African American church leadership and service. He has been true to his commitment to political activism and faithful to the African American sermonic tradition which made him a highly sought-after speaker nationally and internationally. We celebrate his legacy and impact on the world and the Black Community. He is among a great number of Black History Makers. Part of this Information was obtained from The History Makers. ⠀ ⠀ The Bible states that a “good man leaves an inheritance to his children.” Wright legacy extends beyond his biological children.
