An active masterclass in interweaving narratives that are alien to each other, yet constitute a gestalt that we are all familiar with; people, and the life in them, seeps in gradually and fuses with you. And if the many polished/unpolished facets of life in Istanbul (and a little beyond) don't remind you of your own, they certainly do leave an impression of what it looks like and what it means to be.
Watching it in one sitting was just not possible. Each episode left something to be distilled, and a vague sense that whatever I reflected on, would be reflected in my future as well.
But things that can leave your heart tender and more appreciative are so few or so overlooked, that, this is a transaction I've walked away from fulfilled.
Here's your warning ⚠️: Some of these countries are just as evolved about their representation as any western TV Show. Some are just taking their first steps into representation and it's timid and/or flawed. If you want to see where things are at in that country or practice the language go for it.
