I'm really new to the fandom (I got in it because I am absolutely in love with this wet-cat of a man, Cedric) but I already have the head canon that Cedric thinks he's (romantically) unlovable. It just doesn't compute in his brain that someone could have such feelings about him. Sure, he can be liked and admired but never loved. (Probably due to his traumas)
Can you write a little thing about Y/N being not very subtle about their feelings but Cedric just doesn't get it. Sofia tries to even be a little match-maker!
Sofia: I think Y/N has a crush on you! :D Cedric: You should know better than to lie.
Take A Hint: Y/N x Cedric The Sorcerer, Having A Crush!
Tumblr media
"Cedric!"
Your voice carried through the breeze of the garden, the trees rustling softly alongside your hair being tousled by the wind. It was another fair weather, perfectly sunny day in Enchancia; right now, though, all you cared about was centered on the sorcerer in plum stained robes.
He was grumbling to himself, oblivious to your approach.
"Cedric...!"
You called out louder, your pace subconsciously picking up as you approached Cedric. Upon your second greeting, the man visibly flinched, clearly snapped out of whatever daze he was in before.
Cedric quickly turned his head towards you standing there, his mahogany irises lighting up in recognition and warmth. The man's lanky body was still half bent over the lavender bush in front of him, with silvery grey bangs hung slightly in his eyes.
You beam Cedric a giddy smile, feeling your heart race by just seeing those caramel eyes fixed on you. What made your stomach flip, though, was seeing the sweet and shy smile creep along the sorcerer's cheeks to return your own smile.
In a last minute decision, you decide to be bold; because, well- you tried being subtle for weeks about your feelings! You had hoped for all the small touches, winks from catching eye contact, and compliments that the sorcerer would've noticed by now.
However, Cedric wasn't getting it; you were going to go mad at this rate, if this slow burn got any damn slower.
Your fingers gently brush a lock of thick, silky silver out of Cedric's eye. You see the man freeze from contact, clearly not expecting such close proximity. Cedric swallows, hard, holding his breath and hoping you couldn't hear his heart slamming against his chest.
His eyes stay fixed on you, as you adjust his bangs without a word- and you certainly weren't complaining. Cedric's eyes were already a lovely light brown color on their own, but in the bright summer sun they shined like pools of molten gold, the kind any noble or king would envy.
He was beautiful, and the glow in your cheeks damned you to how much you liked him.
As you pull your hand away, your fingertips brush against his cheek. It was like a match being struck against the grain, setting Cedric's skin ablaze with a red hue.
You giggle slightly, biting your tongue trying not to embarrass him further.
"... Your bangs are starting to get longer, Cedric." You commented with a smirk, unabashedly checking him out.
"It's- Uh, well- I..." The sorcerer fumbles with his words, then his hands with a nervous tick.
"I like it, you know."
I like you, too. You thought to yourself, the words almost tumbling out of your throat alongside it.
Cedric laughs awkwardly, clearly unsure how else to take your compliment other than a small, "Thank you, dear."
Wait.
"...Dear?"
You cock your head to the side, a Cheshire grin spreading across your face.
Cedric raises his brows in equal parts surprise and distress, as if he didn't even know what came out of his mouth. He scrambles to say something, but you don't give him the opportunity to apologize or try to take back what he said.
"I think I like that, too~"
You confess with a soft chuckle, breaking eye contact as your own bashfulness begins to catch up to you. You rub your arm a little self consciously, to soothe your nerves before glancing back at the sorcerer.
Cedric inwardly flinches from your eyes catching his own again. He didn't understand why you were so nice, and friendly, and happy to be around someone like him, but. It felt... Good- and nerve-wracking.
Definitely nerve-wracking.
It was like your presence alone made every nerve ending in his body be set on fire, and he wasn't exactly sure why. But the stinging glow of his cheeks, raised body temperature, and sudden loss for words due to a curious kind of brain fog that only happens around you...
Cedric shakes his head, blinking quickly to regain his focus. He didn't know how long he was staring for, and frankly the sorcerer didn't want to think about it. He stutters out a response, clearing his throat.
"Well, if you're al-alright with t-that, I can address you as s-uch." The sorcerer speaks in a neutral tone, but with a slight raise to his voice as if he was asking for permission.
You bite your tongue to barely conceal a squeal of happiness.
"That's fine..." You drawled out, but then quickly added, "Can call you dear, too?"
Cedric glances away, tugging on his muted yellow ochre tie. His initial response was to ask "why?" , because he wasn't sure why you would use such a term of endearment, for someone like himself.
But then, he also knew if he asked you why, then he would have to answer your following question, which is usually,
"well, why not?"
"...I suppose that's only fair; alright then."
Cedric nods, straightening up and smoothing down the front of his robe. He clears his throat again, taking in a deep breath.
"So, what did you need from me... D-dear?" Cedric chuckles nervously to himself, suddenly feeling very aware of everything and especially you, staring at him and making his heart race uncontrollably.
You huff in amusement, lips curled into a small smile.
"I just wanted to spend my break in the garden, really. Then, I saw you! So I wanted to say hi and chat- if you're not too busy...?"
You glanced over to the lavender bush Cedric was studying before you interrupted. It seemed like nothing was picked just yet, and suddenly you feel nervous about distracting Cedric from his work. You know the tight schedule he can have, over the course of getting to know him between his running around doing things for Roland or the royal children.
You go to open your mouth to apologize, but before a word can leave your lips Cedric is already speaking.
"No...! No, not at all, (y/n). I-I mean, yes, I am busy, but I meant-..." Cedric scratches the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly as he trails off.
Your heart flutters, whether it's from his smile or your own anxiety, you weren't sure.
"...Yes, my dear?" You offer with a smile, rocking on your heels for emphasis.
Cedric chuckles softly at that, his shoulders relaxing as he laughs. You can only smile wider in return, a loss for words at how every mannerism of his makes you come undone at the seams.
"I will always have time for you, (y/n)."
Cedric speaks with a soft, but confident voice, nodding to you. You blink, not expecting such a drastic shift of attitude from the sorcerer.
"Ri-right...!" You replied, voice shaking slightly. Now, it seems it was your turn to be flustered beyond coherent thought.
You both continue to chit chat about things happening currently in the castle, as well as get to listen to Cedric explain what he's using the lavender he's harvesting for; unsurprisingly, it's for a potion.
To be honest, you couldn't really focus on what he was saying entirely, because of Cedric's tendency to (cutely) ramble about magic things. But you didn't care in the slightest; the shimmer in his eyes as he speaks with passion about things he loves, is all that you need to see.
Afterwards, you sadly tell Cedric you have to get back to work, but then ask really quick if you can stop by his workshop later to see the potion he's making in action. He agrees, almost too quickly, which leaves you with a smile that lasts all day.
"I'll see you then, dear!" You call out, waving your hand in goodbye.
Cedric waves back, not realizing the smile on his own face.
________
"Mr. Cedric!" Sofia barks out excitedly, already running over to the tall man.
Cedric yells in surprise, nearly jumping out of his skin from the sudden appearance of his apprentice and friend.
"Princess...! Merlin's mushrooms, child, you scared me half to death!" Cedric chided her with a huff, pushing back his bangs.
"Sorry...!" The young girl peeks up from her auburn curls, flashing Cedric an apologetic smile.
After a beat, Cedric relents, sighing in resignation.
"It's quite alright. Did you get everything on the list I gave you?"
"Yup! All accounted for!"
Sofia displays her basket of herbs and flowers proudly with a bright, cheery smile.
Cedric hums in approval, quickly looking over everything to make sure it's correct.
After a moment, he nods, patting Sofia's head in praise.
"Excellent work, my dear."
Sofia chuckled warmly. "Thanks, Mr. Cedric."
As they brought in the ingredients for the potion, Sofia eyed the man with a mischievous smile.
"So... You're gonna show (y/n) the potion too, right Mr. Cedric?"
Cedric paused for a moment, looking down at the girl. She wore a smile he knew all too well meant trouble, and he didn't like it.
"You know better than to eavesdrop, Princess."
"I wasn't...! I mean, not really! I just couldn't help but overhear while picking the flowers!"
Sofia grabbed a daffodil for emphasis, holding it up to the sorcerer like it was indisputable evidence.
Cedric scoffs, rolling his eyes playfully as he waved her off.
"Yes, yes, I understand what you mean, Sofia."
As they continue down the hall, about to turn the corner into Cedric's tower staircase, Sofia speaks again.
"You know, Mr. Cedric, (y/n) seems to really like you. Do you think... She might..." The girl wanders off, biting her lip and smiling.
"She might what?" Cedric prompts her with a concerned tone, his hands turning clammy as the silence fills the space around them.
"...You know! likes, likes you?" Sofia giggles, eyeing Cedric with another smile.
Cedric huffs, pinching the bridge of his nose. The idea makes his cheeks flare a bright red at the thought, even if the idea was absurd to begin with. After all, it's you. You're too beautiful, too kind, too interesting, too- too you, to even consider a bumbler like himself.
"It's rude to gossip, Sofia. You ought to know better." Cedric scowled, giving the girl a pointed look with a raised brow.
"I'm just saying...!" Sofia replied in a sing song voice, shrugging.
Now-," Cedric turns to her, pulling out his wand. With a flick of the wrist, the basket disappeared, teleported back to the cluttered table of his workshop beyond the door.
"As much as I appreciate your hard work today, I'm afraid I have to do the rest alone." Cedric speaks with a firmer, but still kind tone.
"Well... Alright! I hope everything goes well with your potion, Mr. Cedric!" Sofia waves in goodbye, and the sorcerer smiles and gives her a wave in return. Her purple and pink shirts swish as she turns to bounce down the steps, hearing the familiar creak of Cedric's door about to shut.
Sofia glances back, smiling brightly.
"I hope things go well with you-know-who, too!"
Cedric's heart stops, and he flings the door open to scold the child again. Yet, the only thing on his steps now was empty space, and the echo of Sofia's giddy laugh as she stomps down the staircase.
"...Don't run, Sofia! You're going to fall one of these days!" Cedric yells with the impatient yet caring attitude that Sofia knows and loves.
Though Cedric sighs wearily, he shuts his door with a broad smile on his face, his heart aching in that unfamiliar but welcome way that means he's thinking of you.

Cedric sighed as he sat on his stool, resting his head in his hands. “Another spell fumbled…” he thought to himself. His recent failed attempt at impressing the royal family reminds him of a time he’d rather forget…a time he wishes he could’ve prevented.
Looking up at the potion he’s brewing, he catches a glimpse of his reflection in a jar. His bangs catch his eye…the silver color being a permanent reminder of his failure, and the years of ridicule he experienced for it.
Dropping his head back into his hands, he frees the lump that’s been building in his throat, his tears falling onto his spellbook.
“Cedric?” you say, peeking into his lab, worried for the sorcerer after hearing about what happened from Princess Sofia.
“Eh? Oh, [Y/N]...g-go away, you have work around the castle to do, don't you?”
He turns his body away from you, hiding his misery beneath a cold exterior. Despite his growing fondness of you, he just can't seem to bring himself to be vulnerable with you.
“You're crying, are you okay?”
You walk closer to the sorcerer, as he sighs in defeat at you seeing his tear stained face.
“Y-Yes, it's nothing…it's just a side effect from the griffin feathers I’m using in this spell…”
He tries to sit upright, to pretend he’s fine like he has for so many people.
Unlike them, though, you can see right through him.
“Cedric…I know sad tears when I see them…is it about what happened in front of Roland?”
Giving into your kindness, he reluctantly answers.
“...Yes, it is…I can't seem to hold it together in front of him…I always mess things up just when everyone's counting on me to do it right…”
He glances up at his reflection in the jar again, face full of sorrow.
“It’s alright Cedric…me and Princess Sofia can vouch for you, we know you're an amazing sorcerer…”
You kneel beside him, hugging him in an attempt to comfort him, though he continues to stare at his reflection.
“You don't understand, [Y/N]... everything I do is a failure…everything I’ve done is, too…”
“Cedric, is there something more to it? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to…”
Opening up to you, he tells you about what happened back in his childhood and what he did to his sister, Cordelia's, hair. He tells you about how, ever since then, everyone belittled and made fun of him. How he started to believe them…
“Cedric…”
“I have a reminder on my head of what happened now, it seems no one will ever forget what happened…”
“But…it's a reminder of all you’ve been through, too…”
“Hm?”
Looking up at you expectantly and pleadingly, you sigh and hold his cheek in your palm, gaining a bit of a flustered reaction from the sorcerer.
“You endured all that bullying, all that ridicule…and yet, here you are…Royal Sorcerer of Enchancia…don't you think that, if you really were a terrible sorcerer, they would kick you out?”
“Hm…I suppose so…but what if it's all because of my father? They expect me to be just like him…”
“They could have hired Cordelia, Cedric, but they chose you…you also have me and Sofia, we believe in you…if you really were horrible, you wouldn't have any of this…”
“I suppose you're right…”
Leaning into your hand, he blushes, avoiding eye contact.
“Thank you…for giving me that, um, pep talk…of sorts.”
“It's no problem, Cedric. That's what friends are for…”
Wincing a bit at the casual friend-zone, he pulls away from you, putting on a stern, yet flustered face.
“Yes, yes, now, um, run off. I have…potions to brew and such.”
You giggle as you stand back, giving him a peck on the lips and leaving out the door.
“Alright, Cedric, you can do it! I believe in your magic ability!”
As you leave, he sighs contently, turning back to his work with the new-found confidence that you’ve given him in, not only his magic, but his chance with you.

So, I've noticed lots of parrelles in the song "Dare to risk it all" from the princess Ivy episode to Cedric, his development and his relationship with Sofia. I thought I'd share in case anyone finds it interesting. (FIY, I know Rapunzel is speaking about Flynn in this song, but this is NOT a ship post.)
Once I met a man; a thief, a cad, with a selfish plan that made me mad.
Tumblr media
This goes without saying, Cedric was planning to take Sofia's amulet behind her back and was trying to take over the kingdom.
Love set his heart aglow; so sweet, so strange
Tumblr media
Cedric's heart was warmed by Sofia's love and kindness, making him change his ways and become a better man.
But first he had to show that he could change
Tumblr media
When I was in a spot, my back against the wall, he gave it all he got and dared to risk it all
Tumblr media
Cedric quite literally risked it all for Sofia in this moment, he knew full well what the outcome could be, but he did it anyway because he wanted to protect Sofia, even if it costed him.
Things were getting rough, but he answered the call. He had to stay tough and dare to risk it all. He was brave enough to finally dare to risk it all
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cedric used near enough all of his power for Sofia in this episode to release her from the amulet and "answer the call." He needed to stay strong, otherwise the magic wouldn't work, and Sofia would remain stuck for who knows how long. He pulled through, using all his strength and successfully saving her.

Cedric with an S/O whose love-language is food/cooking for him???
Anon YOU READ MY MIND. I LOVE COOKING SO THIS FEELS SO INDULGENT TO WRITEEEEEE TYSM FOR THE ASK!!!!
Enjoy ❣️🐟
Cedric The Sorcerer And S/O With Cooking Love Language!
Cedric and food have a... Complicated Relationship
I have a damn good hunch that man is autistic, so texture/sensory issues, lack of hunger cues, and just Not Wanting To Eat because he's doing something he thinks is too important is a prevalent issue
Of course, you couldn't just NOT do something about it. You loved to cook! You love most of all to cook FOR people
So you ask him about food during your long talks together. Cedric mentions a few basic things he likes, like turkey, stew, potatoes etc but he keeps it irritatingly vague
You try to ask Sofia and even the royal cooks about cedrics favorite meals
All you gleaned from Sofia was his love of sweets and the royal cooks were clueless
Great.
Back to square one!
So with your limited knowledge, you decide to start off by surprising him with breakfast. Using Sofias information, you make him really fluffy pancakes with a dusting of powdered sugar! (Think Japanese style)
To keep things suited to his liking, you put all extras on the side; maple syrup, cut up strawberries (you made them heart shaped) blueberries, melted chocolate, and whipped cream. With some orange juice to wash it all down!
Can't forget some edible flower garnish!
You walked to his door, knocking with your foot (your hands were too full lol)
Cedric thought it was someone else, and he was cranky at first about being disturbed so early in the morning. He opens his door with a scowl, brows knitted in the way you know meant annoyance
But when his eyes rest on you, carrying a huge platter of fresh food and drink, he had to do a double take
Just. Cedric with wide eyes, his jaw about to hit the floor, tripping over his words like. "Wh- what's all th-this for, then...?"
You just give him a big cheeky grin and reply, "For my favorite person <3"
Cedric ushered you into his tower, asking you what the occasion was for, and you could tell he was anxious and worried- so you give him a kiss on the cheek, and tell Cedric that you just wanted to do something nice, and make sure he was fed! You know how busy he can get, so you wanted the sorcerer to start his day with the most important meal of the day
Cedric doesn't know whether to thank you, kiss you, or cry
He kinda does all three 😭
After thanking you profusely, he insisted you share the food with him. He said that you made enough for TWO small armies and he won't be able to eat everything
You try to insist that it was made for *him*, but in the middle of your argument your stomach started growling
Cedric gives you a shit eating grin that screams "I win" and you just sit down with a huff and a (fake) pout
You both enjoy breakfast together, and Cedric literally doesn't shut up about how good everything is
He noticed the heart strawberries and you swear it was the softest smile you've ever seen
He finished his plate and it made your entire day
From that day on, you asked Cedric if you can make him a meal once or twice a week- just to get him accustomed to it
You grow to learn more about food he enjoys, from breakfast to lunch to dinner
Cedric really enjoys sweets for breakfast
A light lunch, because the last time you made something heavy the man slipped into a food coma for three hours
And dinner is your favorite time to cook for him, because you can show off your cooking skills and eat it with Cedric together and make it SUPER romantic
Most of all though, you just love making sure Cedric is fed and taking care of himself. The man is a workaholic to a fault, and you both know it! Which is why he always says thank you and make sure you know how much this means to him
Speaking of, Cedric would try to return the favor in little ways- giving you magic flowers that never wilt, a magic show after a meal, small little animal wind up toys he cobbles together in his spare time (can u guess what his love language is? Lol)
Since he is a picky eater, it's been trial and error to figure out what he likes and doesn't- lots of veggies are a no no, and you respect it and don't push the issue. But the veggies he does like, you use as much as you can! After a while, I could see Cedric trying to branch out a little bit and getting slightly more comfortable with food he previously disliked because you make it taste good (you want to believe he can taste the love)
You try to stick within his comfort zone for food, but sometimes you'll bring something for him to try to gauge where you can cook him new food
Regardless, Cedric adores the effort and care you put into making him food! He offers to even cook for you sometimes! (He conjures it lmao)
Which leads to him talking about food magic! It's quite interesting stuff
But no matter what, Cedric always feels smitten every time he has the pleasure of eating whatever you make for him
Seeing an empty plate from Cedric will always be the highest compliment to you :)
Alright, that's about all I got! I honestly want to expand on this more, maybe make some Cedric inspired recipes???? Would y'all be into that????

Come To My Senses
A Cedric The Sorcerer x Reader Angst/Fluff Fic requested by @acupnoodle
Tumblr media
I'm listening to Mitski while writing this so uh if this ends up being more sad than you planned... that's why 😭 also credit to @natbat331 on Instagram for giving me this pic of Cedric that goes so well with the fic!! Anyways enjoy :3
Finishing the ribbon on the gift box, you hum to yourself in glee once again as you picture the look on Cedric's face once he receives your gift. The way his jaw would curve into a smile, warm mahogany eyes sparkling with intrigue- the thought alone filled your stomach with swarms of butterflies.
Inside the box was a piece of neatly folded cloth, its purpose used for making bowties- similar to what Cedric usually wears. However, unlike the simple yellow silk Cedric usually wears, this fabric was much more special.
The silk was a deep black in color, with hand embroidered constellations stitched with precision in real gold thread.
You grab the scissors next to you, cutting off the excess ribbon to make it more presentable. Once you're satisfied with your work, you nod to yourself with an excited smile.
"Done!" You exclaimed, flinging yourself up from your chair. Turning to head out from your room, you tuck the box within your pocket to conceal the surprise.
Strutting down the long castle corridors, you have to bite your lip and glance away at passing servants to conceal the grin that stays stuck to your face. In all honesty though, it wasn't really working that well. Your relationship with Cedric was far from being a secret, and most of the castle inhabitants knew where to find you when you weren't working or in your room.
You turn into that familiar corridor leading toward the staircase to Cedric's door. Heart thumping, your footfalls grow slightly faster, echoing from the stone floor.
Cedric is going to love this, I just know it! His face will be priceless, you think to yourself, biting back a cheeky laugh. Reaching your next destination of the stairs, you ascend without any hesitation.
In your love sick stupor, imagining the different ways Cedric could potentially react- you burst through Cedric's door, waltzing right into his workshop.
You open your mouth to greet your favorite sorcerer and partner, but before a syllable can leave your lips, the man is already cursing.
"Dammit!" The lanky sorcerer roars, and the shrill tinny of glass shattering echoes in your ears. Your first response is to freeze, your wide eyes boring into Cedric's back. Purple silk quickly turns into fiery golden eyes, glinting with anger and disdain.
The sorcerer faces you now, his mouth twisted into a scowl, deep trenches of annoyance across his forehead as he frowns.
"How many times do I have to tell you people-...!" Cedric's usual posh accent is gone now; torn to shreds by the gruff Cockney accent that sometimes peeked out, when he was pissed enough.
And Cedric was certainly pissed.
As his eyes finally processed that this wasn't just anyone, it was you- his guard dropped, slightly, reeling as his mind caught up with the fact.
You, on the other hand, had the opposite reaction. Upon hearing and seeing the rage Cedric emanated off his person, it sent shockwaves through you. Your muscles contracted at the new inflection of his words, that true accent from Cedric's lips always a warning signal for both of you.
You both stood in tense silence, your eyes screaming for any explanation as you search Cedric's face. Your eyes flit over the facial features you've long since memorized, looking for a hint of the Cedric you knew.
Cedric, however, couldn't stomach that look on your face, much less the truth that he was responsible for it- that hurt, the way your eyes shimmered with tears that reflected that temper of his.
Cedric clicks his tongue in annoyance, turning away from your form in one swift motion.
Back to the broken glass, and drip drip drip of a tedious potion that he has slaved away at for almost three days straight. He groaned, the image of King Roland's familiar look of disappointment already coming to mind.
"I'm sorry..." Your voice cuts through the thick haze of Cedric's thoughts. Cautiously, your footfalls come closer as you inspect the damage.
Cedric, however, didn't want another pair of eyes on this failure- he could hardly stand looking at the mess himself.
"No- don't. Just-..." Cedric huffs in frustration, cutting off his sentence abruptly. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he turns to face you once more.
The rage you saw at first had faded, but even worse, you decided, was the deep seeded annoyance on the raven haired man's face.
"Why didn't you knock-?" Cedric asks you, exasperated.
"I.." You stuttered, feeling at a loss yourself. Why didn't you knock? You knew-
"You know you can't just barge in my workshop like that!" Cedric chides you, his voice rising slightly. You turn your eyes away from Cedric, mumbling "I know, I'm sorry," under your breath.
You feel Cedric's eyes burning into you for a moment, before turning his head sharply back to the mess on his table.
Your eyes quickly glance at all the scattered papers around his desk, now soaked through from the liquid, and ink smeared beyond recognition.
"There's good reasons why I have that rule. It's a simple one, yet-..." The sorcerer mumbles to himself, snickering as his nose scrunches with the rest of his frown.
"I'm so sorry I didn't knock, Cedric- I know it's a lame excuse, but it really did just slip my mind! I..." You pause, unsure if it's even worth to elaborate further. The small box in your pocket now feels like a brick, the guilt weighing it down heavy.
"I was just excited to surprise you, and-" You babble on, and the man's warm brown eyes have since grown cold.
"Well, consider me surprised." He snips back in a sarcastic voice, beginning to magically move all the items off his work table to clean up.
The rest of your words have since died on your tongue, and you knew that Cedric was beyond talking until he calmed down. You couldn't blame him though- you messed up, big time it seems, if Cedric's mood soured so quickly due to one accident.
The sting of oncoming tears, along with the frustration you feel towards Cedric's cold demeanor, has kept you silent as Cedric stiffly begins to clean the space around him.
You stood, still as a statue, even though your mind was screaming at you to do something, say something! To fix this. But it was like you were frozen, glued to the spot next to the mess you created. You felt fear- that if you moved again, something else bad would happen.
Cedric, who had been in the middle of sorting through what magical ingredients could be salvaged from the spill, glanced over to where you stood. His face was stony, no discerning emotion left within any line of his face.
"Did you- need any help? I mean, this is my mess, you shouldn't be cleaning it up for me." The words manifested on your tongue in an instant, with you slightly tripping up over your words. Your eyes were hopeful, and somewhat pleading- but Cedric only replied with a long sigh.
"... It's fine. It's best I clean it up anyways- potions require a specific procedure when it comes to spills." Cedric replies in a monotonous voice, not sparing you a second glance as he continues his work.
Feeling dismissed, you hang your head and walk towards his door in shame. As you approach the door, you're hoping for Cedric to say "stop", "wait", or anything really that indicated changing his mind.
However, there was no such thing. Only the scuff of Cedric's feet against the stone flooring as a send off. You glance back, vision blurring slightly as the tears welled up.
Fishing in your pocket, you retrieve the black box that previously was the source of your excitement.
Now, it was nothing more bitter reminder- and you couldn't stand to look at it anymore. You set it down, softly, on another table nearest to the door.
Whatever Cedric does with it, it's out of your hands now. A part of you hopes he'd just toss it in the trash, along with the rest of the things you ruined today.
Without a word, you opened the door- a soft, final, "I'm sorry," leaving your lips.
You close the door, without waiting to hear a reply.

Cedric finally finished clearing away the rest of the accident, a final flick of his wand gathering the rest of the trash into the rubbish bin.
In the midst of all his clean up, he had forgotten that the bin was already overflowing- yet another mess to clean up.
The disruption crashes Cedric's motivation, the weight of your... argument? Conversation? He wasn't sure- it felt like he did most of the talking, now that the sorcerer thought about it.
Recalling it now made his heart sink, along with the weight of your last words now settling on his shoulders.
"I'm sorry."
Cedric winces as your voice echoes in his memory; that signature wobble in your cadence when you were upset, that usually was accompanied by tears.
Remorse clawed at his chest, and his stomach tightened into knots. The sorcerer runs his hands through his hair, his fingers tracing his scalp as he thought of what to do next.
Clearly, you both couldn't just pretend this didn't happen- no matter how much Cedric wanted to forget about it. Bygone are the days where he avoids confrontation- he knew that he also had to take responsibility for his own actions as well.
His hand reaches for something to fiddle with as he rehearses what to inevitably say to you- his gloved fingertips brushing up against a black satin box.
"What's this...?" Cedric's cat-like curiosity gets the better of him, as his hand curls around the object.
A soft rattle of metal came from inside- yet the box was very light, barely covering his own palm. His mind digs through the vast collection of his personal items to place a name to what was inside- but no dice.
Cedric shrugged, deciding to lift the snug lid upwards to look at the contents hidden within the box.
Casting aside the lid, his caramel colored irises land on the unfamiliar yet gorgeous fabric- the gold thread of stars and constellations winking back at him in the evening sun.
"This... Is-" Cedric's eyes widen, staring down at the fabric for a moment. His jaw hands slack as he cautiously lifts up the tie to inspect it further, taking instant note of the craftsmanship and quality.
It was beautiful, no doubt about it- but it certainly didn't belong to him; he would remember having such a tie in his collection.
"I just wanted to surprise you, and-"
Your voice pops into his mind again as he recalls what you had said earlier, which shoots down his wonderment for a moment. Guilt and anxiety wrack his frame once more, realizing where this tie had came from, and why.
"This was (y/n)'s surprise..." Cedric whispers to himself, bringing a hand over his lip as he gasps.
"Oh, God, I'm such a..." Cedric groans, leaning his face into the palm of his head.
I have to make this right- I... I have to apologize, Cedric thought hurriedly, already reaching for his door handle.
"Hopefully, it's already not too late..." Cedric mumbles to himself, his gaze fixed ahead as he makes his way to your room.
____________
You sigh, tossing your book haphazardly aside on your bed once more. You've been trying to find any kind of distraction to keep your mind off of Cedric, but the silence of your room was only filling your head with more thoughts of the sorcerer.
You and Cedric rarely had spats like that, and the way his face warped into annoyance and anger at your mistake kept haunting the back of your eyelids. You rub at your eyes, trying once again in vain to just stop thinking about it, for even a moment.
We both just need some time to cool off, it's fine, you're fine; keep it together.
You repeat the phrase inside your head like a mantra, until the words begin to lose meaning; sounding like gibberish on your tongue.
In the middle of your chanting, you almost miss the subtle knock on your door- making your body flinch from the sudden noise.
"...Can I come in, dear?" That familiar voice cuts through the wood, seeing two feet shadowing the light peeking through the bottom of the door.
You pause for a moment, deciding if this timing was really good, or you were somehow hallucinating Cedric being there as a cruel trick of your psyche.
"(Y/n)?" Cedric calls out, his tone softer, laced with somewhat disappointment. Hearing your name being called snapped you back to the current moment. Scrambling from your bed, you tip over to unlock the door that stood between you and the man you love.
Creaking the door fully open, you're met with the comforting sight of deep purple robes, tired, yet soft brown eyes, and silver bangs framing the face of your dear Cedric. Your heart sang when you looked at him, but your body still remained stiff- still unsure whether it was acceptable to approach Cedric, given what happened today.
"I... It came to my attention, a little too late late, I might add, that I didn't apologize, either." Cedric fumbled through his words, his fingers fidgeting with his robe sleeve.
"Well... I didn't knock, either-" you offered, but Cedric is quick to cut you off.
"No, you didn't, but-... I shouldn't have lost my temper like that. It wasn't fair, or right, and I'm sorry. I should've come to my senses sooner." Cedric confessed, his eyes glued to yours as his voice grew hoarse from guilt. His shoulder dropped, even more so than normal, and Cedric's tall lanky frame appeared to fold in on itself as the words left his mouth.
"...Did you manage to clean everything up?" You ask, nimbly avoiding the apology for now.
"Huh? Oh- yes, yes, I did." Cedric cocks his head in confusion, wondering why you had avoided his apology. Were you still upset with him? Should he have waited longer to approach you? Should he just leave?
No. No, he can't just leave now- he can't, not until he can relieve you of that sad glint in your eyes, the sadness that he knew was his fault.
"A-actually, I managed to find something interesting, in the midst of my cleaning..." The sorcerer pulled out something from the depths of his sleeve, extending his palm out.
Revealing a small black box, the very same that you possessed.
Instinctively, you smile, your eyes lighting up. You raise your head to look at Cedric, who also bore a knowing smile of his own.
"I was hoping you could do the honor of helping me put it on...?" Cedric asks you, unsure but still hopeful- extending you an offer, as well as an olive branch.
Feeling your walls finally crumble, your smile widens and your eyes crinkle in the way that makes Cedric's heart flutter.
Grabbing Cedric's wrist, you lightly tug him into your room, his eyes widening in equal parts surprise and happiness. You glance up, chuckling to yourself slightly.
It was the face you imagined the sorcerer would make, upon seeing your gift- except, it looked even better in person.
You take the tie from the box, gently looping the fabric around his neck.
"It would be my pleasure, Cedric."

You were tending to a patch of the royal garden, replaying the words princess Sophia spoke to you; "I need all the blueberries you can get- clover is suuuper hungry today!".'
A smile forms on your lips as you chuckle slightly to yourself. You found Sophia's devotion to her pets quite endearing; but even so, you had a gut feeling that there wasn't something quite right with Sophia's request.
You've been her personal servant for over two years now, and within those two years, it was a very rare instance where Sophia didn't make Clover's meals herself. You tried to brush aside the suspicion that was mounting in your head, but you couldn't get rid of the thought that Sophia was up to something.
You sigh to yourself, dropping another handful of berries into your basket.
"Well, I guess it doesn't matter... I still have quite a lot left to pick."
You lift your head to scan along the bundles of blueberry patches, taking a quick moment to rest in the solitude of the garden. The day was quite mild today, with the sun partially obscured by the clouds. A strong breeze carried across the royal gardens, making the leaves around you rustle and sway.
The silver banged sorcerer saw you earlier sitting in the gardens, while he himself was taking a break by gazing out of his balcony.
Cedric's warm caramel eyes drank in the sight of you, a serene look on your face that made his heart melt with affection. At first, he didn't want to disturb you- you both hated being interrupted, after all. However, the more he looked at you, the more his body ached to be by your side.
Exhaling a love sick sigh, he teleports to the lush garden with a flick of his wand.
With your mind distracted by nature, you didn't notice the approach of Cedric off to your right.
Cedric then calls out your name in greeting, and his voice snaps you out of the trance you were in. Your head whips to your right, taking in the sight of the lanky man you've come to love so much.
"Cedric!" You speak his name in equal parts shock and excitement, your eyes shining with love. You scramble to your feet, dusting off the grass and leaves that cling to your clothing.
"Sorry I didn't see you, there- my mind was..." You trailed off, waving your hand to signal that you were lost in thought.
"No worries, darling- I just got here." Cedric gives you a reassuring smile, stepping closer to grasp your free hand that was still in the air. He brings the back of your hand to his lips, gently kissing along your knuckles.
You watch wordlessly as Cedric kisses your hand, feeling too flustered to speak. Your heart starts to beat faster, and the familiar flush of your cheeks betrayed how Cedric's touch made you feel.
"W-What.. what are you doing here, by the way... need more herbs?" You ask with a shy smile, trying to regain your composure.
"Hm?" Cedric's honey brown eyes flicked up to meet yours.
"Well... actually, now that you mention it..." Cedric pauses, his eyes tearing away from yours to span across the well kept garden. You watch as his eyes scan the expansive area, a soft laugh leaving your lips at how his brows scrunch up- that's how you know he's focused on something. His eyes also take on a particular glitter- like a cat, searching for its prize.
Upon hearing your laugh, his attention snaps back to you again.
"Anyways-! I just saw you, sitting alone in the garden from my balcony... I thought you could use some company." Cedric shrugged with a coy smile, and you raise a brow teasingly.
"Right... Are you sure it was me who needed the company?" You cock your head to the side, sarcasm laced in your voice.
"W-Well..!" Cedric sputters, eyes widening at how easily you cut through his intentions. "If you'd prefer me to leave, then.." Cedric says with a pout on his lips, but you could see the corners of his mouth twitch as he fights off a smile.
The sorcerer steps away from you for emphasis, his back already halfway turned to leave.
"Hey-! I didn't say that!" You exclaimed in mock defense, grabbing onto Cedric's robe sleeve as you laugh. Cedric stops, giving you a sideways glance with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Come here." You commanded, pulling on his sleeve to motion Cedric to turn towards you. Thankfully, he complies, with a full grin plastered on his face that made your heart light up inside. Your eyes meet as Cedric steps close to you, his arms snaking around your back.
After a brief pause, you weren't sure who initiated the kiss- but you find your lips brushing together in the blink of an eye. You sigh lightly into the kiss, enjoying Cedric's affection and body heat as your skin tingles.
After a few more gentle kisses, you both part, with cedrics lips lingering on yours for a moment longer. His honey gaze bores into you, his fair skin taking on a faint rosy tint. His bangs hang into his eyes as he looks down at you, and you tenderly brush a loc of silver away.
"So.. is this what you meant by 'keeping me company?' Because it seems like you're just keeping me distracted, Cedric." You say in a slightly teasing voice, biting back a laugh as you hold Cedric's gaze.
A chuckle escapes Cedric's lips, his eyes crinkling as he laughs. His warm mahogany eyes drift over to the basket that you needed to fill, seeing the cogs in his mind begin to turn.
"Ah, forgive me, love. Shall I make up for it, then?" Cedric's eyes flick back to you, his hand already reaching for the wand that stashed away in his sleeve pocket.
Before you could reply that you were fine, after all it wasn't a hard task picking blueberries by any means- Cedric had already stepped forward, a spell halfway being cast. You watch with an amused smirk as Cedric's magic sends the remaining dark blue berries into your basket, neatly placed in a huge pile.
"Thank you, Ceddy." You nod towards the sorcerer, placing a hand on his back with gratitude.
Cedric turns towards you, dipping his head towards you in respect. You smile in response, your hand leaving Cedric's back to interlock with his own.
"Say.. why are you out here, anyways? You're usually with Sophia." Cedric eyes you curiously, waiting for your reply.
"Well, Sophia is why I'm out here in the first place." You shot back with a shrug, but you took note at how Cedric noticed the oddness of your task as well.
"The princess said she needed them for Clover.. and with the amount she requested, I almost believe her." You say with a snicker, rolling your eyes playfully.
"Almost?" Cedric parrots back with a raised brow.
"I think she's up to something... not sure what, though." You confess, reaching down to lift up your basket of berries.
"That girl is always up to something," Cedric retorts, muttering under his breath as he helps you lift the hefty basket.
You giggle at Cedric's unamused comment, finding his reaction endearing. Some days, you really do see Cedric as an extended father figure to Princess Sophia. They speak about each other all the time, and the level of care they both carry in their hearts for the other makes you only love Cedric and Sophia more.
"Well, it's not my job to question her whims.." You say with a weary sigh, shaking your head. Tipping the basket on your hip, you turn towards the castle to leave.
"I should get this back to her. Thank you for your help, Cedric!" You chirp happily, flashing the sorcerer a genuine smile.
"Anything for you, dear." Cedric says with an affectionate hum, watching as you walk towards the servant tunnels to report back to the princess with a slight sadness in his gaze.
-------
You dutifully carry the goods Sophia requested to the palace kitchen, huffing with exertion as you lift the basket onto the closest table you could reach. The basket landed with a heavy thud, shaking the utensils that were already on the wooden table. Swiping at the sweat along your brow, you rub your arms to soothe your aching muscles.
As you recover in the kitchen, the doors swing open suddenly. You flinch from the noise, your head snapping to the kitchen entrance to see princess Sophia strutting through.
Her puffy pink dress sways behind her as she marches up to you, an extra spring in her step- moreso than normal. The grin on Sophia's face reaches ear to ear, and you nervously smile back.
"S-sophia! Your timing couldn't be better, I just finished-"
"Yeah, it looks ah-mazing, (y/n)!" The young princess cuts you off quickly, her eyes not even sparing a passing glance to the overflowing basket of berries.
"Ah.. thank you, princess.." You say halfheartedly, your eyes narrowing at the increasingly odd behavior the princess was exhibiting.
"Would you like me to prepare Clover's plate for lunch?" You offer a small smile, your feet moving towards the cutlery.
"No-!" Sophia cries out, her tone a little desperate. You turn to her sharply, your confused and slightly suspicious stare on full display. Sophia's bright blue eyes dart away from your piercing gaze, clearing her throat awkwardly as she shifts from heel to heel.
"Ah, I mean, um.. no, thank you, (y/n)." The princess declined, shaking her head.
"I actually have another thing I need you to do, if that's alright?" Sophia asks sweetly, looking at you with a hopeful gaze.
Seeing the princess's sweet smile always has a way of disarming you, so you decide to set aside your questions about her behavior for now.
"Of course, princess Sofia- that's what I'm here for, after all. What can I do for you?"
"I need you to get Cedric, and bring him to the ball room. It's really important!" Sophia says with confidence, her bright blue eyes boring into yours.
A sigh of annoyance leaves your lips before you can mask it, making the princess slightly deflate.
"Well, I wish I knew that beforehand- I was just speaking to Cedric in the garden.." You mutter, trying to keep your voice level.
"No offense, Sophia- but why is it important that I ask Cedric?" You ask with a curious tone, your mind reeling at the bizarre conversation between you both.
"Well..." Sophia drags out, a mischievous spark in her eye that you didn't quite like.
"Cedric can't say no to you, so I can count on him to actually show up if you ask." Sophia says with a giggle, eyeing you with a knowing look.
Your cheeks immediately start to burn like hot coals, embarrassment making you lose the words on your tongue. Sophia's giggle only increases in volume the more your face begins to flush, making you hang your head in defeat with a resigned sigh.
"..Alright, I'll go get him." You agree with a strained voice, not waiting for Sophia's reply as you carry yourself out from the kitchen doors.
_________
You walk beside Cedric, escorting him towards the ballroom as your nerves begin to feel shot. Cedric didn't look to be faring any better- but no words of comfort came to mind to soothe him.
Instead, your hand reached for the familiar gloved hand of your partner. You both interlock your fingers together, a silent act of solidarity as you both stand in front of the towering doors of the ballroom.
"It's quiet in there... too quiet." Cedric glares at the double doors in front of him, his lips forming a tight line.
"Whatever Sophia is planning... I know you can handle it." You glance over at the man, seeing his unconvinced look to your words.
You swallow, digging further into your brain for what you think Cedric needs to hear most right now. You squeeze Cedric's gloves hand tighter, feeling the soft worn leather on your fingertips.
"There's a reason you're called Cedric The Great, you know. You'll do... great!" You offer an encouraging smile to Cedric, your heart beating in anticipation for what lies in store for both of you beyond the door.
That seemed to slip past the wall of doubt around Cedric's mind, as his tightly knit shoulders loosened slightly.
"Let's hope you're right, love." Cedric says with an unreadable look, pushing the doors open. You both blink in surprise, finding the ballroom empty, with the windows barred with thick drapery to block out the sunlight.
You both turn to each other at the same time, exchanging an incredulous look. You step cautiously into the room first, calling out Sophia's name nervously. Your voice echoes in the empty hall, the only reply you get.
You glance back at Cedric, and as he opens his mouth to say something, the room explodes with a bright light. You both gasp, blinking harshly to adapt to the newfound lightsource.
"Surprise!" A choir of voices join from all sides of the ballroom, familiar faces popping up from behind the furniture adorning the hall. King Roland and Miranda, Sophia, Amber, James, Baileywick, along with a plethora of other servants and hand maidens you know or befriended, all gaze at you and Cedric with bright and cheery smiles.
You sputter in disbelief, your eyes searching for any explanation for what is going on right now. As you look upon the scene further, you notice the decorations that adorn the walls, bright ribbons and balloons in every nook and cranny of the walls. You and Cedric both stand in utter shock, your voices temporarily gone.
"Congratulations, you two! I always knew it would only be a matter of time..." King Roland's loud voice cuts through the room, his smug smile landing between the two of you.
"What-?!" You and Cedric both exclaim with equally confused expressions, your usual decorum for the royal family now gone at the moment.
"Oh, there's no need to play coy anymore! We all knew about it for weeks... Well, I was the first to figure it out, anyways." Princess Amber chimes in, hiding a cat-like grin behind one of her favorite hand-held fans.
"I thought Sophia mentioned the baby stuff first- didn't you, Soph?" Prince James gives his twin a raised brow of suspicion, before turning his head to Sophia.
You and Cedric both share a sharp glance at the mention of the word "baby", turning back to the royal children now beginning to bicker about the origins of the baby rumors.
You go to open your mouth to interject, but Cedric beats you to the punch first.
"Whatever this- "baby stuff" you're all referring to, I'm ecstatic to inform you all that (y/n) is not pregnant...!" Cedric announces loudly to the room, his voice confident until the last few words of his sentence. He feels his palms become slick as he partially turns to you, his eyes wide and his skin turning slightly pale.
"Y-you're... not, right?" Cedric stutters in fear, swallowing hard as his golden cognac irises swirl with dread.
"...No, I'm not." You reply flatly, crossing your arms defensively as your eyes linger across the room. Your eyes pierce through Sophia, feeling your anger rise as you fight it from breaking through the surface.
The young princess shyly dodges your icy glare, biting her lip nervously. You catch on to her tell, knowing that Sophia realized the enormity of her mistake.
"B-but... the baby clothes! I saw you make them!" Sophia cries, stepping towards you with huge eyes that begged for understanding.
You feel the entire room's eyes on you, crumbling your nerve. Your skin tingles in embarrassment, and you awkwardly clear your throat. Your mind feels blank, but each second you stand in silence, the more you feel as if you're being accused of something.
"Yes, I was making baby clothes-" you start, but you're cut off by Amber's bossy voice.
"So then you must be pregnant! Why else would you be making them?" Amber pipes up, grabbing Sophia's hand to come to her defense.
You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose in frustration. In any other scenario, you would respect Amber's loyalty to Sophia- but now, it's only becoming more of a nuisance.
"For my cousin, Amber. She is pregnant, not me." You shake your head, pausing as you laugh from the absurdity of the idea.
"God, no..." You mused to yourself, shaking your head.
"Oh..." Amber replies, her voice numb from shock. She turns to her sister, her brows raised.
"I-I'm so sorry, (y/n)!" Sophia sputters out, her cheeks red from shame. She approached you quickly, looking up at you with her sad puppy gaze. You let out a tired sigh, glancing over to Cedric to gauge his reaction.
His warm golden eyes had since hardened, looking at Sophia with a disgruntled expression. Cedric's brows were heavily knitted together, deep wrinkles of annoyance etched into his face. Feeling your eyes on him, his brown irises flickered to yours.
You both share a complicated look, and Cedric's shoulders twitch in a halfhearted shrug. Almost as if saying "this is your call, not mine."
You sigh again, looking down at princess Sophia.
"It's- it's alright. I know you were only trying to be kind, Sophia." You crouch down to Sophia's level, touching her shoulder reassuringly. You give her a smile, trying to cheer her up. Her expression softens a little, but she still looks at you with sad eyes.
"And hey- you cared enough to make this huge party for Cedric and I, right? That's what any good friend would do for one another." You say in earnest, your smile slowly cracking through as you spoke.
"Isn't that right, Cedric?" You tear your gaze away from the girl, shooting Cedric a foreboding look to ensure his compliance.
His eyebrows rise in a panic, momentarily erasing the sour look on his face for a fake saccharine smile.
"A-aah, yes, that's right..!" Cedric coos, his voice overtly sweet, practically oozing sarcasm if you listen hard enough.
Thankfully, Sophia doesn't pick up on Cedric's sarcasm, ever- so her eyes regain their shining luminosity in an instant.
"You guys really aren't mad...?" Sophia asks slowly, her bright blue eyes darting between you both.
"Well-" Cedric cuts in, but you leap to your feet in the blink of an eye, grabbing Cedric's hand tightly. He stutters in confusion, so you take your opportunity to lie.
"Nope, not at all." You say with as much conviction as possible, glancing once again at Cedric with a smile full of daggers.
Cedric's eye twitches to betray his true feelings, but he purses his lips and nods in agreement.
You practically see the weight lifted from Sophia's shoulders, as she exhales a heavy sigh of relief.
"Well, since you already have a party going, Sophia- why don't you uh... celebrate... I don't know, you can probably think of something- you seem to already have quite the... imagination." Cedric responds coyly, arching a brow as he throws a copious amount of shade at the young girl.
However, you can't help but let a snicker pass your lips at how subtle Cedric's comment was. Sophia looks over at you, and you quickly cover your tracks by clearing your throat.
"Hey, I'm always down to party!" James responds with a whoop, quickly grabbing a party popper from his coat pocket. He launches a rainbow of confetti and streamers into the air with a satisfying pop!, finally clearing the heavy tension that had accumulated in the ballroom.
The guests finally broke out into laughter, and quickly the sound of mingling voices gave you and Cedric the perfect chance to slip away from the party. With a shared glance, you both made a straight bee line to the doors, your footsteps echoing in the empty halls.
_______
It is an absurd idea, isn't it? Us, being parents- could you imagine it?"
Cedric snorted as he shook his head in disbelief, settling down into his work stool.
His caramel irises glanced over to meet your own in solidarity, but you nimbly dodged his gaze in order to hide the flicker of hurt that flashed across your (e/c) orbs.
You weren't even sure why you felt upset- after all, both of you agreed early on into your relationship that children weren't a priority for either one of you.
Up until now, you thought were sure of your feelings...
So, why now did hearing the sorcerer laugh off the notion of having children so casually feel like a sword was struck through your heart?
You lean against the wood of Cedric's work desk, fiddling with an empty bottle to try and still the ache in your chest.
"Well- I- I can't imagine it would be much different than what our jobs are already." You say with a weak chuckle, keeping your eyes glued to the small vial in your hands.
Cedric stops for a moment, his eyes resting on yours.
"What do you mean?" He asks, trying to sound as neutral as possible.
"Well, my main job is to look over a child- I know it's not the same as being a mother, but.." You trailed off, sighing.
"You certainly might as well be- I see Sophia more with you than I have her real mother." Cedric replies with a snort, sifting through the papers at his desk.
You scoff in amusement, but don't bother to deny Cedric's claim. Walking over to where Cedric sat, you wrap your arms around him from behind in a hug.
The sorcerer stops for a brief moment, before surrendering to your embrace with a low hum of contentment.
"You know, I could say the same of you, Cedric... Sophia talks more about you than she does her own father." You speak softly, resting your check against the curve of Cedric's neck.
"Really?" Cedric asks in a bewildered tone, his face turning towards you.
"Of course... She looks up to you." You affirm with a nod, moving your face to hold eye contact with Cedric.
You see the cogs turning behind his mahogany colored eyes, processing your words. He then abruptly turns his face away from you, brushing his finger over his lips as if he was conflicted by something.
"Well... even so- I'm not, good... with children." Cedric drags out his words as he cringes, shrinking into himself.
"Sophia is nice to me, because she's nice to everyone- but outside of her, I just... don't know what to do with them." Cedric admits with a weary sigh, running his hand through his hair in a nervous habit.
"I don't really think that's true, Ceddy." You reassure the man with a light chuckle, shaking your head.
Instead of answering right away, the sorcerer looks at you with an arched brow and a scathing side eye that would dissuade most from arguing further.
You though, brush off the look with another chuckle.
"I'm not just saying that, Cedric." You reiterate, your voice full of conviction.
Cedric hums noncommittally in response, clearly unconvinced but willing to see where you would take your argument.
Swallowing hard, you speak further.
"You.. really do have a way with kids, love." You pause for a moment, trying to find a solid point to base your claims on.
"I mean, come on- who's the first person the royal children run to when they need help, hm?" You stand up straight as you talk, crossing your arms.
Cedric waves you off, a snicker rolling off his lips.
"Yeah, sure- because those little devils think I can just snap my fingers to make their problems all disappear," Cedric mutters bitterly.
"Ceddy- that's a little harsh, even for you." You give Cedric a pointed look, and he shrinks a little bit under your gaze.
"They go to you so much because they trust you; because they can rely on you." You speak with a confident smile, your hand squeezing Cedric's shoulder.
"I don't think that you being a father would be that absurd.." Your confident voice dips into a more hushed tone, your cheeks heating up at every word.
Cedric looks down at the ground, feeling lost for words at your implications. It's not like the idea hadn't crossed his mind before- he just never had any reason to entertain it much.
Not until you, anyways.
And until tonight, neither of you had really talked about the possibility of becoming parents- only reaffirming your shared terror at the idea of it, in the beginning of your relationship in passing.
Cedric sighs again, feeling weighed down as the reality of the conversation started to finally hit him.
"I... I thought- we said..." Cedric starts, then stops as he doesn't want to sound crass when you look so vulnerable.
"Has your mind changed, about wanting children?" Cedric asks in a light voice, curiosity and a slight mix of dread filling his body.
"I... maybe? I- I don't know, it's just.." You rub your arm self consciously, feeling regret at even bringing the topic up at this point. You still weren't sure why it even irked you this much, so why were you trying to make it into a big deal?
"You can speak to me honestly, darling." Cedric coos in reassurance, his hand finding your own and taking it into his grasp. He gets up from his seat, his free hand giving your arm a soft squeeze as his eyes rest on you.
Feeling Cedric's touch and soft gaze eases your tense muscles slightly, halting your racing thoughts so you could think clearly again.
"I never really thought much of it, I suppose- then, well. Today, happened.." You glance up at Cedric with an amused smirk, and a small grin forms on his face in reply.
"Then, once you mentioned- ah.. the idea, of us being parents... being 'absurd-'," you pause for a moment, and Cedric bites his lip apologetically.
Taking in a breath, you continue.
"It made me feel.. upset, hearing that from you. My change in attitude is sudden, I know- I have no justification for it, really." You shrug halfheartedly, feeling emotion claw its way up your throat.
"It's fine, dear- you're allowed to change your feelings about what you want." Cedric stroked your hair as he spoke, warm caramel eyes softening as he gazes down at you.
"I know, but- your feelings haven't changed, though."
You try to disguise the emotion in your voice, but the sentence still comes out wobbly. You look down at your feet, studying the groves between the stone floor so your thin facade won't break underneath the crushing weight of Cedric's eyes on you.
"It's- my feelings aren't as.. rigid, as I make them out to be, (y/n)." Cedric mumbled, feeling his skin prickle as he uttered the truth.
"Your feelings are always rigid, Cedric." You say with a tiny laugh, trying desperately to make a joke so you won't cry.
While Cedric could tell you were trying to lighten the mood, he didn't have it in himself to laugh.
"It's not that I dislike the idea, of having a child.." Cedric exhales in a long sigh, rubbing your arm to soothe both him and yourself as he speaks.
"...I'm afraid, (y/n). I- I would have no idea what I'm doing, being a father. I didn't exactly have the best example to go off of, growing up."
Cedric's voice tightens, causing you to lift your head in concern. You see the worry lines appear on the sorcerer's face again, and a brief flicker of the fear he hides behind those brown eyes you adore so much.
"I know..." You whisper gently, raising a hand to cup Cedric's cheek into your palm. Your gaze softens as you drink Cedric in, your heart aching at the memories Cedric carries in his own heart of his father.
"There's only one chance to get it right, with a child.. I can't imagine messing up something that important." Cedric nuzzles his face into the palm of your hand, exhaling slowly into your skin. His body is tense now, shoulders hunched with his skin a shade paler.
"You won't- well, wouldn't." You quickly correct yourself, a tinge of melancholy in your voice.
"Parents aren't meant to be perfect- we'd both make mistakes. But- you wouldn't be alone, and you wouldn't be like.. him, Cedric. You're too kind."
Your voice falls low as your thumb caresses the sorcerer's cheek, guiding your arm around his waist to pull him closer to you.
Cedric stands quietly, pressing his cheek to your palm even closer; almost as if feeling your words seep through his skin.
The silence is heavy between you both, but not in an uncomfortable way.
Instead, it feels like a blanket, enveloping you both in the words still left unspoken inside yourselves.
"I'm not saying we try now, by any means.." You whisper, your voice hesitant and light.
"I just..." Your words shrivel up on your tongue, as you're still unsure what this conversation means to you.
After a beat, you feel a warm hand reach up to where your own hand rested on Cedric's cheek. You jump, eyes flicking up to meet his once again. The color had returned to his skin now, and their lustrous golden hue now sparkled with the same adoration he always held for you.
"...Think we still have more to discuss, than we initially thought?" Cedric offered, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
You burst out laughing, shaking your head.
"It would seem so, Cedric."
Then, very sweetly, the silver banged man leans down to capture your lips into his own. The kiss is soft, endearing- full of promises and the hesitation of beginning something so strange and new.
You break apart, finding a new kind of sheen in each other's eyes- excitement, along with small flecks of hope.

I got into StF because of Cedric, who I've known about for a little over a week now (insert "but if anything happened to him" meme here). I saw an amazing, well-detailed video analysis on him, and I was hooked! It's so cool to know there are other fans of him like you and Moony, tho he still seems WAY underrated.
I KNOW RIGHT!! Watching Cedric analysis videos makes me so happy, and it's a good refresher on his character for writing purposes. Tbh, when I started this blog, I thought I was screaming into an empty void; after all, the show is 10-11 years old! I thought there was no fandom to be found here. But I found myself happily mistaken, and now I get the opportunity to meet other people here who adore our sorcerer and give him all the love!! It's so fun!! :DD

I would love to hear more about your story idea where Cedric gets a snake familiar! How he got her, their relationship, her personality, etc. You mentioned some things, and I've been thinking about it a lot tbh.
Cedric, The Sorcerer; Rose, The Snake
Tumblr media
Above GIF is what Rose looks like! She is a ball python!
Cedric was in his tower, doing royal sorcerer things, as he does
He hears from his balcony/window Sofia arguing with the guards and she sounded distressed
He sees her holding,,, something
Or rather, something is wrapped around her shoulders-
"OMG IS THAT A BLOODY FUCKIN SNAKE???" - Cedric, probably
He goes to investigate
Sofia says that Rose Got hurt because some kids were fucking with it for fun (because it's common that snakes are mistreated/killed just for being a snake)
He notices Rose has some skin missing and in general looks beat up
Rose is pretty much exactly like her name implies: sweet, beautiful, and full of love and affection
She's very encouraging of Cedric, very eager to help him fetch ingredients, and basically becomes his best friend! She's a great listener, sorta motherly in a sense, and also suffers from anxiety and depression like Cedric does (because of her trauma/isolation because people judge her for being a snake)
She also offers free pest control in Cedric's tower and pretty much the whole castle! Not one mouse or rat has been seen since Rose moved in....
Rose LOVES being on Cedric's shoulders and wrapping around his arm. She's a snake after all, and she needs warmth!
Cedric has since made sure his workshop gets PLENTY of sunlight since Rose was put under his care. The sunshine even helps Cedric feel good after getting used to it!
Cedric at first was hesitant to get close to rose. After wormys betrayal, he didn't think he could trust another familiar to get so close to him. If his lifelong former best friend could betray him, why not a snake? A figure that represents deceit and evil?
But rose proves Cedric wrong
She's eternally grateful for Cedric taking such good care of her. And she at first was terrified of him. Sofia had to sit with her while Cedric patched her up, she didn't want to be alone with him just yet :(( but she trusted Sofia, and if Sofia trusted Cedric, then rose would give him a chance
They both are distant to each other at first, but as rose recovers, she gets bored of just. Doing nothing. And she doesn't want to explore the castle and scare anyone, lest she get hurt again :((
So she watches Cedric work. Becomes familiar with a few things. And suddenly when Cedric needs an ingredient, rose is slithering to get it for him!
At first Cedric insisted she rest, but rose convinced him to let her help, "to return the kindness you gave me, Mr. Cedric"
Oh yeah Rose calls him "Mr. Cedric" for the few first days (despite Cedric's insistence she doesn't have to) because Sofia calls him that xD Rose is super polite!
Once Rose is rested up finally, she expressed fear of going back into the wild. Living in the castle was... Nice. And safe. And warm. And most importantly, she had friends 🥺
So Cedric brought up her becoming his familiar
At first, rose couldn't believe it! And she was hesitant because she wasn't sure how others would react to her being his familiar. She didn't want to cause Cedric any trouble by being associated with her :((
Cedric then replies "My dear, the last familiar I had was much more trouble than he was worth- but you? You're the friend and familiar I think I've always needed. If you want to humor me, that is?"
And that's history! Everyone needed some adjustments to Rose- after all, a fear of snakes is a common phobia. But the royal family learns to love her, and Rose learns to trust other humans as they show her love and compassion. And seeing Sofia hold her and Rose be so sweet makes the twins start to hold her too! Even amber comes around! James thought Rose was cool from day one though xD
Rose is also 5.5 feet long!

Do you still take requests? If so, do you only do y/n with Cedric? I had something slightly angsty in mind where Sofia rescues Cedric from an enemy (NOT cedfia, no worries; and it would take place shortly after the series).
Hello shychick!! I take any requests! They all just happened to be x reader since my first few posts were x reader content, lmao 🤣 the one shots I'm cooking up in my brain are going to be with characters from the show, I just need the motivation to write them. So by all means, send in your asks! I'll be your fish 🐟

I don't know if you are doing requests currently (if not then just ignore this). Would you mind doing a Cedric from stf x reader, where the reader is under the control of one or maybe several of the villains ? The reader has the ability to switch between human and dragon forms and is skilled with fire magic. Maybe Cedric could be the one to free them somehow and once they regain control of themself he helps them adjust to living in enchancia? Hope that makes sense!
First off, thank you for the request anon!! Requests are ALWAYS open, it'll just take me a while to get them done since I just work very slow and have ADHD. So send any requests whenever you need Cedric content! I'll be your fish! 🐟
Also, while I do appreciate your ask, it has quite a lot of content (which is a good thing!) But I feel like in order to answer this fully, I'd have to make it into at least two parts, so keep an eye out for part 2!!
For simplicity sake, the first portion of your request will be told through bits and pieces of flashbacks- with the main focus being on the rehabilitation of the reader. I hope that's okay, and you understand where I'm coming from.
Thank u sm for the request! I do hope you like it!!
Show Me How To Live With You
(Part 1 of 11)
A Fic with gender neutral shape shifter reader X Cedric the Sorcerer!
Tumblr media
This fic is gonna be gender neutral, with gender neutral pronouns.
TW for loss of autonomy, loss of home/family that type of angst, imprisonment, wound descriptions, not graphic, but blood and burns mentioned)
Enjoy, anon! Hope this fic meets your expectations :3
Your eyelids flutter- once, twice; then slam open with a jolt, followed by a choked gasp. Your vision was blurred; that was the first thing you noticed. Then, it was the darkness of the room you occupied. You tried shifting your eyes to take in your surroundings fully; but any movement made you feel as if the world was tipping off its axis, and your body was helplessly slipping through the earth.
You manage to let out a pained groan, nausea immediately making your stomach seize. Clamping your mouth shut, you close your eyes as your fingers gripped anything to anchor yourself from the ceaseless dizziness.
You had expected hard stone, or packed earth- akin to your cell, the one that you rotted away in for months against your will.
Instead, your finger pads met the slippery fabric of silk sheets. The shock of it momentarily snaps you out of your dizzy spell- just long enough for you to sit up. You feel a dull stabbing in your abdomen, and your head protests against your sudden movement with another bout of vertigo.
"Where the fuck am I...?" You thought, trying to gulp deep breaths to steady yourself. The worst of the vertigo passes, but you quickly give up on trying to control it. Forcing yourself to turn your head, you finally take in the room you currently occupy.
You can only make out the vague shapes of furniture, which was already sparse to begin with. A tiny nightstand is tucked next to the bed you're propped up on, with a meager dresser of sorts fit against the wall opposite of you. From the texture of the walls, you figure it was made of stone.
Your eyes drift to the end of the bed, and your eyes rest on the silhouette of a chair at the foot of the bedframe. It was turned in a way that if anyone were to sit in it, the would be staring directly at you.
Your heart leaps into your throat, and you feel sick at the thought of someone watching you while unconscious. Your eyes scan the room again, frantically searching for an exit. The room however, was too dark to discern any door.
Cautiously, you extend your hand and mutter the ancient words that you've known since birth. A tiny ball of fire now dances on your palm, it's flames licking at your skin. You feel somewhat comforted by the small flame, and seeing it's light cut through the long shadows gives you the courage to move.
Inching your legs over the plush mattress proved more difficult than you initially thought, but you manage to stumble out of the bed. As your bare feet touch the cold stone floor, it sends shivers through your whole body.
After collecting yourself for a moment, you search the room again for the exit you seek. Extending your arm, you guide your flame along the walls, expecting to find a door.
What you didn't expect, however, was the drastic change in color and texture as a single satin curtain was draped along the stone. You inch forward, a viotile mix of dread and curiousity edging your body forward.
You now stand in front of the curtain, and you reach out to grab the fabric between your fingers. Inhaling a shaky breath, you silently push the satin aside.
It takes your mind a moment to register what you were seeing as you crane your neck to peek behind the curtain. As you're still processing the foreign room in front of you, the dark shape of a humanoid person drew the breath from your lungs in a sharp gasp.
The figure had their back to you, but the sound of your gasp alerted them. Your mind screamed at you to move, but it felt like your limbs were locked in place by an unseen force. As the figure turned to meet your eyes, it was like time was going in slow motion. Every nerve ending on your skin felt like it was set ablaze, and the only movement you could make was a full body shiver of terror.
The two of you locked in a stare, standing eerily still as a beat of silence passed. The room was only illuminated by weak moonlight, and while his form was shrouded in shadow, the reflection of moonlight through his silver bangs was just enough to betray an equal look of shock on his own face.
The tension in the room was suffocating, as neither of you dared to even take in a breath. You realized you were locked in a stalemate- and one of you inevitably had to break it first.
With that thought now at the forefront of your mind, your body reacts of its own accord. Your feet spring from your idle position, throwing the curtain behind yourself as the ancient dragon fire that resides in your veins bubbles up towards your skin.
Uttering your spell once again, flames burst through your skin, engulfing your arms and hands in a hot blaze that lights up the room. The man cries out in protest, shielding his face from the sudden explosion of flame.
"What in Merlin's name are you doing?" He shouts, his voice hoarse and garbled from panic. The man's reaction makes you hesitate instinctively, as you were expecting him to be more... hostile. You stare down at the man curiously, your eyes studying him with a cat-like gaze.
In the light of your fire, you now got a better look at him. You noticed he was all sharp edges and angles, with not much muscle mass you could discern underneath the dark purple robe he wore.
He's far too weak to overpower me physically, you thought, your eyes lingering over his frame. Even so, you already knew the consequences of letting your guard down before- and you'll be damned if you made a fool of yourself to anyone ever again.
"No questions from you until you answer mine." You growled, stepping forward as you will your flames to rise higher around yourself. Sparks fly from the crackling flames you emit, and you can see the waves of heat coming off you in droves.
"If you keep using your magic like that, there won't be anything left of me to answer your questions!" The man shoots back angrily, his teeth flashing against the amber glow of the fire.
"Explain." You commanded, taking half a step back- just enough to signal your acknowledgement. However, you refuse to lessen the barrier of fire that protects you from the stranger in front of you.
"Look around you-" the man sneered, his cowering position straightening to his full height. Your muscles tense, but slowly you scan around the room. It was messy, to say the least, but you noticed that every crevice held trinkets, books, various foreign equipment and glass bottles that caught in the dancing light of your flames.
"This workshop is full of potions and chemicals that react to heat. Any one of them could be set off this very second, and with the flames you're making-" the man stops, laughing humorlessly as he shakes his head.
"It would cause a chain reaction; until you, me, and this whole tower is completely obliterated into dust." He finished gravely, his eyes glowing like embers as they lock onto yours.
"Is that a threat?" You asked, but the question came out less intimidating than you had hoped.
"It's a warning- and I highly suggest you heed it." He responds stoically, his face blank- but you can see something in his eyes shift.
Almost as if he was pleading.
Reluctantly, you take in a deep breath, exhaling as you extinguished the fire around you. With the light and heat from your magic gone, the chill and darkness of the night rapidly took its place. Sickly pale moonlight scattered the workshop again, casting more shadow than anything.
The man visibly sighs in relief, his body sagging as the adrenaline wears down.
"Thank you, I-" he responds, but you quickly cut him off.
"Where am I, and why?" You pressed him, your voice creating a small echo as you spoke.
The lanky man looks at you in disbelief, with a raised brow and his mouth agape, and you can't tell if he's more shocked or somehow insulted by your question.
Regardless, it pissed you off.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" You snapped, your voice rising in anger. You ball up your hands in the fabric of your clothes, fighting the urge to call upon your flames once more.
The man wipes the emotion from his face, almost too quickly for your liking. He swallows thickly, fidgeting with his robe sleeve in a nervous manner. He stands in silence, lowering his head as his grow furrows in thought.
While his previous reaction pissed you off, this new reaction made you feel- scared.
"... What do you remember last?" He asks you slowly, his head rising up again to eye level.
"That's not an answer," you protested, but your voice came out shaky and weak. You bristled at yourself for losing your nerve so quickly- why was this happening?
"I'm only asking so I can answer your questions in an efficient manner." He replied calmly, waiting for your response.
"I..." You started, hovering where you stood as you tried to dig your brain for answers.
"I remember- being in an evil woman's control. Her name was Vor. She- she captured me, and-" you start, the memories flooding through you as you continued to speak.
"She saw my powers, and wanted to use them for-" you pause, your train of thought coming to a halt. You squeeze your eyes shut to concentrate, but the memories keep slipping through your grasp before you can speak on them.
"Well, whatever the hell she was planning." You muttered under your breath, glaring at the dark stone floor beneath you.
"Is that all you remember?" The man asks tentatively, as if the question would somehow shatter you.
You shake your head no, then continue speaking.
"I don't- I don't remember the things she made me do. Not much, anyways. Everything- everything felt like a blur, and it felt like I was... Not really, there. Like my body and mind were separated from one another." You feel your heart beating quicker as you hear yourself talk.
"I'd blink, and suddenly I would be in a cell, waiting for Vor. Then... I'd be in dragon form- flying somewhere, or-" you stop again, suddenly finding it harder to catch your breath. Your chest tightens, but you force yourself to keep talking before your thoughts escape your grasp.
"Or... there would be fire. My fire... everywhere on the mystic isles." You speak the last sentence in a hush, the shame and dread of the truth gnawing at your insides. The pain you felt earlier in your abdomen claws its way back to your senses, doubling down with the swirl of emotions settling in the pit of your stomach.
"Do you remember princess Sofia and I rescuing you?" The man asks finally, and through gritted teeth you shake your head no. Not because you didn't remember- but because it was getting too hard to even think. Your head was pounding again, in time with the shooting pains that swelled along your stomach.
Draping an arm around your midsection, you feel the feverish heat of an aggravated wound you didn't realize you had- until now. As you slide your hand towards the apex of the pain, the silver banged man spoke again, but you didn't process what was said.
All concentration at this point was on keeping a straight face as to not alert him. Taking a step back, you try to regulate your breathing to calm yourself. Swallowing thickly, you detect a sharp, metallic tang at the back of your throat.
Blood.
"Damn.." you muttered under your breath, glancing down at your stomach. Peeling your fingers away from your side, a dark slick streaked across your digits. Your bloodied hand twinkled in the moonlight, almost mesmerizing you.
Almost.
"...You don't look well; are you alright, (y/n)?" The man asks with worry, closing the gap between you with shockingly good speed.
"Stay away-!" You spat, clumsily moving your body backwards. However, your feet don't land on solid ground- instead, the heel of your shoe got caught up against the flimsy curtain you emerged from previously.
Instinctively, you fling your arms out to catch yourself on anything, but to no avail. Your body was already off the ground, with fabric the same shade of blood that flowed from you, now filling your senses. Your mouth was caught frozen in a silent scream, and all you could possibly do now was brace yourself for the impact of your fall.
You managed to twist your body to the opposite side of your wound before landing with a heavy smack on the cobbled floor. The wind was instantly knocked from your lungs, leaving you choked and wheezing for breath.
Your head that was already pounding before, now felt like it was being split open; and hell- maybe it was considering the fall you took.
The sorcerer was beside you instantly, already asking if you were alright. Your back was to him, and you made no effort to signal that you'd heard him. While you knew your state was dire, you'd rather lay here like a pathetic, wounded animal than expose how weak you truly are right now.
"(y/n)!" The man repeats, louder and more panicked this time. You clench your muscles tightly, trying to anchor yourself to the floor somehow. He repeats your name again, his voice cracking.
You almost want to believe he's.... concerned, for you.
But even still, you wouldn't take the bait. A long beat of silence passes, then you feel a hand grazing your wound. Your body reacts autonomously, body twisting as adrenaline and magic flows through your veins to provide you a defense. Shooting your arm out, a ball of crackling fire erupts from your palm.
You expected the man to react the same way he did before, caught off guard and cowering. It would at least buy you enough time to get on your feet, maybe giving you the chance to run once the adrenaline starts pumping.
However, you could only watch in shock as the silver banged man swiftly pulls a wand from his robe sleeve, his voice strong and clear as a spell leaves his lips that evaporated your ball of flame into a pitiful wisp of smoke.
You stare, slack jawed with your heart skipping multiple beats. The man now stands before you again, his wand now aimed at you.
"If you keep trying to set me on fire, I'm going to lose my patience with you!" He yelled, agitation seeping from his voice. His face was scrunched up in a menacing glare, his brows knitted tightly together and his lips forming a thin line.
You stared at him in silence, until the realization finally hit you.
"You can use dragon fire..." you whispered, almost accusingly at the man before you.
"Of course I can, I'm the royal sorcerer for Merlin's sake." The man snapped back, his eyes boring into yours like hot coals. "But unlike you, I don't go around galavanting with dragonic magic to threaten people on a whim!" The man says, flicking his wand in your direction for emphasis.
The comment made you visibly flinch, hitting a crack that was buried deep in your heart. Images of your dragon fire spreading in hot, unforgiving waves across the bountiful fields of the mystic isles flashed across your mind.
Remembering the smell of smoke and charred houses caused by your destruction makes your eyes water, and you dip your head in shame as your tears drip onto the stone floor beneath you.
Regardless of whether you did it under someone else's control, you knew the people and magical creatures that inhabit your home would never be the same after such devastating attacks. Dragon flame is one of the most powerful forces in the known realms, and while normal fire is capable of bringing forth new life from its ashes, dragon flame will consume everything until there's nothing left but dust.
"...I'm so sorry." You replied in a broken voice, your shoulders sagging from the weight of shame, guilt and grief of your actions leading up to this moment. You weren't sure if your apology was directly for the sorcerer, or for every person who's been affected by your fiery devastation.
Either way, you can't deny the way every cell in your body screams for repentance against the wrongs you've committed.
"I'm so sorry," you mumbled again, quieter this time. Those same three words were now looping endlessly in your brain, blocking out any other forms of vocabulary. You keep your head down, studying the grooves between the stones so you wouldn't have to look your rescuer in the eye.
The man shuffled awkwardly, his feet scuffing against the floor. Your eyes dart quickly to him, and you see his hands fidgeting with the sleeve of his robe. It seems like he wasn't sure what to say, and to be honest, neither did you. You both stay in a heavy, awkward silence, that was almost as painful as your bleeding wound.
He suddenly sighs deeply, breaking the self-loathing trance you put yourself in.
"Now, now- enough of that. You already apologized once." He mutters nervously, dismissing you with a wave.
"Let's take a look at the damage you did to my handiwork instead, shall we?" He asks in a half joking manner, trying to awkwardly lighten the mood if you could guess- but you don't have the energy to laugh. Instead, you give him a weary glance, followed by a tiny nod of approval.
The slender man dips low to your level, conjuring a mysterious case of what you assume to be medical supplies. He knelt down beside you, and in turn you weakly lift your hand away from your bleeding side.
The man reaches into the bag, and you hear the chilling clink of metal taunting you as he digs through it. You swallow your nerves, trying to ease the fear that was settling in your stomach.
Then, he suddenly stops. You wait for a moment, then wordlessly turn to him with a questioning look.
"Ah- um... I ju-just realized this. I need to-" the man trips over his own words anxiously, his eyes like saucers. From the corner of your eye, you see him trying to gesture at your clothing in a pathetic attempt to tiptoe around the obvious.
You roll your eyes, letting out a giant huff of frustration. Cursing under your breath, you dip into your energy reserves to evoke your powers; elongating your nails into sharp talons. With a few expert swipes, you cut away the weak cloth around your wound. Your body shivers at your skin being exposed to the cold, but you motion him forward to continue.
"Thank you..." the sorcerer mumbles, avoiding your glare of annoyance.
"Just get it done already," you snarled, digging your claws into your palm. You felt beads of sweat trickling down your forehead, and your entire body felt hot and cold at the same time, making you shiver and sweat moreso.
The sorcerer snaps his fingers, and you wince as the darkness of the room evaporates into light. Squeezing your eyes shut tightly, you try to focus on the sorcerer's light touch as he tends to you.
"Good news, your stitches aren't completely ripped! I only need to replace a few, then you'll be as right as rain." His accented voice cuts through the silence, with an oddly excited tone.
"A few... loose stitches caused this?" You raised your voice in anger, mind reeling at how weak your body has become.
"On the surface, maybe- but you... you were in rough condition." The man speaks lowly, as if he was afraid of jinxing you.
"I've lived through much worse than this," you laughed dryly, shaking your head in disbelief.
"I don't doubt it." The sorcerer replies calmly, his demeanor turning somber for a moment.
Feeling his eyes on you, you turn to catch his gaze. You both stare at each other with a complicated look, neither of you knowing how to breach the subject of your circumstances.
Before you open your mouth to change the subject, the man breaks eye contact to grab the suture needle.
You watch tiredly as the man works, silently observing his handiwork. You felt somewhat impressed at the deft hand that made light work of your bleeding gash.
"So... sorcerer and surgeon, huh?" You hummed, trying to talk to distract yourself from the pain.
The man hesitates for a moment, his hand stopping momentarily.
"The latter is a little... generous," he man snickered, his eyes never leaving your wound.
You stare at him silently, waiting for any elaboration. As if on cue, he begins to speak as he continues working.
"My mum taught me to sew because my sister, Cordy, was dreadfully bad at it- she'd sew her hand to her dress before learning a proper running stitch." He says with a sniff, his brows wrinkling in a light frown.
That got you to laugh, but you quickly regret it as you wince in pain. Even still, a small smile twitched on your lips. The sorcerer flashes you an apologetic smile, his eyes quickly scanning you to make sure you were fine.
"Sorry, darling; I'm almost done, I promise." His voice audibly softens, smooth like velvet in your ears. Your heart rate picked up at the sudden pet name, and you feel your cheeks heat up before you can stop it. Something in the way those words were spoken felt like deja vu- like you heard him speak those same exact words before.
Following that feeling of deja vu, you bore into your shoddy memories again to see if you can grasp anything. Suddenly, a word manifests itself on your tongue- like a long forgotten magic spell that popped in your head. In fear you might forget it again, you hurriedly speak aloud.
"Cedric...?" Your voice wavered with uncertainty, small and questioning.
The man's head instantaneously snaps up to meet your eyes, his own caramel brown eyes flickering with recognition and surprise.
"Yes?" Cedric answers automatically, a strain in his voice as he processes what you said.
Your eyes grow wide, and you don't fight the wide smile that blooms on your face in triumph. You can't help but let out a chuckle, your cheeks hurting as your smile grows.
"I remembered... your name is Cedric-!" You said with a giddy hum, eyes shining as you finally felt clear headed for the first time in ages.
Your smile proved to be infectious, as Cedric's face wore an amused smirk of his own. He quickly nodded in affirmation of your decree, his smirk now widening into a full fledged grin.
"It seems you catch on quick- that's good. You'll be back to your full strength in no time."
You stare at the sorcerer as he finishes up the sutures, which he was already tying off with practiced hands.
"Alright- just about done." Cedric nods in satisfaction, rising to his feet. You move to do the same, but your sore muscles protest against it. Your body sways as you try to stand on your feet, and for a second you're afraid you'll fall again.
However, Cedric was ready this time- his hands automatically grasping for your arm to provide himself as an anchor. He feels your body flinch at the sudden contact, and for a moment his breath catches in fear as he stares you down for a reaction.
Likewise, you found yourself drowning in Cedric's wide stare, his honey colored irises full of trepidation. You find yourself unable to look away, even though Cedric's fearful expression was just another reminder of the guilt you carried for your behavior.
"...Thank you." You spoke slowly, clearing your throat as you break away from Cedric's grasp. Draping an arm across your newly stitched side, you finally tear your eyes away from Cedric and back to the bed you woke up in.
"You're.. welcome?" Cedric replies, his brow raised in surprise at the sudden change in your composure. Cedric studies you with a tilt of his head, confused but somewhat relieved that you have seemed to calm down.
"If you'd like, I have more medicine to help with the pain. I'm sure what I gave you before has since worn off." Cedric offers, holding his breath as he waits for your answer.
Your gut instinct is to decline- help is usually never freely given in your case, and this whole situation is an anomaly to you. But yet, you find yourself unsure about an answer- something in the way the sorcerer looked at you as he asked made you pause; like Cedric was silently pleading with you to accept his offer.
"Okay." You nodded towards Cedric in response, and with a flick of his wrist a bottle appeared in his gloved hand.
"Take no more than three drops on your tongue- the effect should kick in within five minutes." Cedric instructs clinically, and you hum in acknowledgement.
"I will warn you- part of what makes this potion so potent is that it's partly a sedative." Cedric goes on, locking eyes with you as he passes the bottle from his palm into your hands.
"You could sleep for a few days straight at the maximum dose- I just wanted you to be aware so it doesn't shock you." Cedric finished gently, taking a step back to glance over you once more.
You nod towards Cedric in thanks, eyeing the bottle carefully in your palm.
"I'll leave the rest to you, then." Cedric mutters in dismissal, bowing his head towards you in parting. Tearing your gaze away from the potion, you silently watch Cedric's back as he exits the room.
You carefully listen to Cedric's fading footsteps, waiting until you are surrounded by silence again to finally let go of the breath you've been holding.
Your eyes settle again on the small bottle the sorcerer gave you. The murky contents of the bottle made you feel uneasy, as did the side effects Cedric warned you about.
Your mind replays everything you had just experienced thus far after waking up- mentally weighing the risks of letting yourself go unconscious again in an unfamiliar land with a strange man you barely remember.
Your eyes shift nervously across the room again, and once again you find yourself fixated on the chair that was angled towards the bed. You suddenly feel a little embarrassed looking at it now, recalling the feeling of dread and paranoia you felt at the idea of someone watching over you.
Now, for some reason, the idea didn't sound so bad anymore. At least, not if that someone was Cedric.
You hand grazes against the fresh stitches Cedric sutured for you, and your heart flutters for a split second. Heat rises to your skin, and you feel your cheeks start to burn. Immediately your hand leaves your side to swipe at your cheeks, as if you could scrub the blush off your skin somehow.
"Ugh, grow up. I have no time for this," You muttered angrily to yourself, propelling your body forwards and into the bed you woke up in. Your side burned wickedly in retaliation at your sudden movement, but you didn't care- you needed to get rid of this weird, restless energy you felt towards the sorcerer.
Popping the seal on the bottle you possessed, you open your mouth and let the dark liquid drip, drip, drip on your tongue.
Three drops, just like Cedric had said.
You entend your arm to place the potion on the nightstand next to the mattress, your body already feeling weighed down by an invisible force. The softness of the silk sheets and the warmth of the blankets felt like anchors keeping your body in place, and you feel your head sink deep into the pillows.
Your eyelids flutter as you fight to keep them open a moment longer- it seems Cedric wasn't exaggerating about the potency of the potion.
Despite your vain efforts, you feel your consciousness slipping through your hands like fine grains of sand. As you blink up at the ceiling one final time, the last thought that flashes through your mind is of silver bangs, a plum colored robe, and tender hands that managed to piece you back together.

Hcs for Cedric with a partner who age regresses?
Cedric and Age-Regressing Partner!
Hi op, I don't know much about this topic personally, so it's gonna be a shorter, general list. Sorry! I did my best to research the topic the best I could, though!
Cedric would probably see the signs of age regression happen if it's involuntary- he's an observant person
After that, it would be him being very patient, and kind, checking in on you and trying to discern how you feel
Giving you snacks and water, asking you to do simple, direct tasks, anything to make sure you feel safe and calm
He knows that age regression can be disorienting, and make you feel more sensitive than usual- always asking what you need, what helps you through it, just trying to be a good, supportive partner!
Would learn whatever triggers your age regression and make careful steps to avoid such things happening as much as possible
COMMUNICATION CARDS FOR WHEN COMMUNICATION GETS TOO HARD ‼️‼️‼️
Having a stuffy animal spell on hand when you need to lay down after being upset and cuddle with
Speaking of- Holding your hand, giving you hugs, forehead kisses! Just soft, gentle affection
Giving you his robe to regulate yourself
Participating in playing games, coloring/drawing with you, listening to you talk about anything "childish"- just really appreciating your company no matter what
That's about all I can think of! I hope you like it!!!
