Hi sorry for requesting again but I was wondering you had CG Headcannons for Mk 11 Johnny Cage ? He's a comfort character at the moment and I'm happy to see you do content for MK 10,11 and 1 :) sorry again for being awkward in my first ask I've been off tumblr for a while and recently came back ...
MK11 Johnny Cage!!! <3
And your fine, don't worry one bit!!
Tumblr media
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
CG Johnny Cage MK11 Hcs
💫 Depending on where we are on the timeline depends on how ‘good’ on a CG he is (all CGs are good, they're trying their best <3)
💫 Younger Johnny is more of a babysitter or older brother figure, but still a pretty good CG
💫 Older Johnny takes on a more stable CG role (we're gonna focus on him)
💫 You have so much Johnny Cage merch!!!!
💫 Any kind of doll or stuffie made of him, you've already got it!!
💫 You've even got some shirts with his old movie designs
💫 Mostly you have these because he gets a copy of almost anything ever made of him (and he likes to spoil you <3)
💫 Older Johnny has kinda left his old Hollywood life behind, joining the military and doing some movies here or there
💫 He's settled down, more to Earth than his other selves
💫 That will not stop him from buying anything you want, no matter the price
💫 You want a yummy treat? What kind? He's already got his wallet put
💫 He knows you have a thousand and one plushies . . . But a few more can't reeeeeeally hurt anyone
💫 You are his baby and nothing is allowed to harm a hair on your head
💫 You think your clingy? Psh, you haven't seen Cage Clingy
💫 Constantly wants to hold or coddle you, your just so cute!!
💫 But like, he guesses he can let you go run off, but he has to be nearby and you have to be in eye distant!!!
💫 Matching Johnny Cage inspired jammies (he happened to have them already)
💫 He has a habit of babying you even if you regress older
💫 If you like being treated like a princess/prince/royalty? Brilliant!! He's got you covered!!
💫 If you want more independence, he's decent with it, and will treat you more your age
💫 Finds middlespace regresses entertaining (mostly if your an emo regressor)
💫 Loves making bracelets and drama when your bigger
💫 Drama can be almost anything, including this dramatic thing that happened in your favorite TV show
💫 Babble encourager!!!
💫 Full blown conversations with babblers, he thinks they're adorable
💫 If you want to have him dress up and have a tea party, he's so for it
💫 Make him wear a tiara and tutu, he'll do it with pride
💫 Will also let you paint his nails any color you want
💫 While he loves and babies you, he also puts his foot down >:(
💫 If your a rule breaker, prepare for a bunch of timeout time, because there's almost not changing his mind (unless you regress really small)
💫 Won't punish you if it was an accident though, he's not terribly mean
💫 If you ever offer to spar or wrestle him while your tiny, he'll generally laugh
💫 Not at you!! Well, kinda
💫 It's just, your so cute!! Thinking you could beat him up, that's so adorable 🥺
💫 He'll let you fight him though (and probably let you win, but you don't reeeeally gotta know that)
💫 He'll treat you with ice cream when you ‘win’
💫 He's getting old, but he's got the energy he had when he was in his 20s (y'all he's like almost 60 in MK11 can you believe that??)
💫 If you regress as base, your either right by his side holding his hand, or your always in reach just in case
💫 There is a not touching rule on everything if your small on base, there's a lot of dangerous stuff and Johnny's not having you get hurt
💫 He'll do his little “Here's Johnny!!” while playing peek-a-boo
💫 Sometimes he'll egg you on to do naughty things he finds funny (like prank Sonya by putting a bit of salt in her coffee)
💫 Will also take the blow when Sonya starts getting pissy because someone (👀) ruined her coffee
💫 Your naptime? Nuh-uh. Our naptime 😎
💫 Man's old, he'd love to just laze around and cuddle
💫 But he's also got the spirit of a child, and would love to run around with you
💫 If your small while he's working out, he'll laugh as you try to pick up his weight
💫 He'll probably give you one of those workout balls or some super light weights so you can be just like Daddy :D
💫 . . . Dad jokes 😒
💫 And sometimes they're not even good!! Most times they're just to poke or annoy you!! >:(
💫 Most times they're actually really funny though
💫 Favorite CG nicknames are Daddy, Dada, Papa, Bubba, and literally anything you wanna call him
💫 Your go-to babysitters are Sonya and Cassie
💫 (Maybe also Jax and Kenshi)
💫 Cassie and Sonya both love you, you've got the whole Cage family behind your back
💫 Favorite little nicknames to call you are Princess, Baby Girl/Boy, Little One, Sweetiepie, Honey, Little Star
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I hope they're more MK11 Johnny and not MK1 Johnny, and I can always do more or something like that. <3

Wanna get into fighting games? Can't really afford 'em? No problem.
I've seen a recent increase in the genre's popularity on Tumblr thanks to Guilty Gear: Strive (namely Bridget's reveal), but I've seen folks show concern for the genre's cost. While Strive may be outside of folks price range, that doesn't mean there aren't free or cheap entry points to the genre. (Every game listed below is easy to run on low end PC's, so don't worry if you're playing on a potato. Just remember to use an ethernet cable for the best possible connection!)
Melty Blood: Actress Again Current Code (MBAACC) has a unique reputation for its underground scene and playerbase, as well as its dynamic roster of 31 characters (each with 3 distinct versions, producing an effective roster of 93 characters). It's fast paced and has a simple control scheme and plays fairly similarly to the latest entry in the series, Melty Blood: Type Lumina. The best part is that it's absolutely free with rollback netcode thanks to efforts of the fanbase in the making of community edition. It's also where Neco Arc was first made playable, so if you find posts about her amusing, you can play her for 15 minutes and then move onto a real character.
Tumblr media
If you're not as interested in something less "anime" and want to try old arcade classics, then I can't recommend Fightcade more. Arcade emulator that lets you play online with anyone in the world with a solid connection thanks to rollback netcode. Classics such as Street Fighter III: Third Strike, King of Fighters '98, Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (Darkstalkers 3, in the US), and many, many more are all available. Hell, you can even play non fighting games such as Metal Slug on it, too! Of course, it's just an emulator, so you'll have to acquire roms yourself somehow, but that's a legally gray area. Fightcade does not give you any roms, so it's legal. Sure would be convenient if there was some sort of extension that automatically grabbed game roms for you the instant you joined a fightcade lobby, though.
Tumblr media
If you're willing to drop a few bucks, then Steam isn't devoid of any good deals. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R (colloquially known as +R) is often on sale for just $3, and is a beloved entry in the Gear franchise. It's the game where Strive favorites Bridget, Testament, and Anji were last playable in, and maintain their original toolkits and playstyles. Not only that, but the game has some absolutely fantastic rollback netcode now! While it may be daunting at first, you'll find that most characters simplest bread and butter combos are easy and consistent. Low floor, high ceiling type of game.
Tumblr media
Another game often available for cheap on Steam with great netcode is The King of Fighters 2002 UM. KOF is a very popular series in Latin America and East Asia, but never really exploded in the US. Recent series entry KOFXV has made an impact, and it plays like many previous entries. '02 UM has a large roster of fantastic characters to build a team around. Pick 3 of your favorites and jump right in!
Tumblr media
A game you may already have (and not even know you do) Is Skullgirls. The game's often dirt cheap during sales, and has been included in more Humble Bundle's than any other game in the genre. Flexible, easy to learn systems, combined with a lovable roster of distinct characters gives you one of the best indie games ever made (and, personally, the best American made fighting game). Plus, after nearly a decade, the game is getting new characters again! There's never been a better time to start playing Skullgirls.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the best game to play to get into the genre is the game you want to play in the first place. If you want to get into Strive, there's no better game to play than Strive. Same with any Street Fighter, Skullgirls, Melty Blood, etc. Don't let the high level players scare you, there's always going to be fellow new bloods to play against. Check your game's wiki to find relative socials such as a community Discord, many of which have focused beginner tournaments and play nights to meet new people around your skill level. Don't be afraid to ask questions! You'll get answers and feedback from more experienced and friendly players.
Also, small note, use whatever controller you're most comfortable with. Keyboard and gamepad are perfectly fine. You don't need to buy a $200+ fightstick. While they can be fun, they're an investment often not worth making. Many of high level players such as SonicFox use a gamepad exclusively for every game they play. Go do you.

i loved your post about vash and reader’s stretch marks. i was wondering if you could write something where the reader is afraid of getting fat, so she skips meals or replaces them with water?
Missed Meals
Summary: Vash notices a change in his companion's behavior. Worried, he decides to confront her.
Authors Note: I'm glad you liked my other post! I hope you like this one as well (though I'm a little nervous because I got stuck writing this and I'm afraid it came out bad). Also, just want to add, I've struggled with eating disorders before (not from self-image but more like Vash's "I don't deserve to eat") so I understand. Everyone is beautiful in their own right and deserves to eat!!! Love all of you guys!!
Warnings: Self-hate, eating disorder.
Tumblr media
It started off small; giving her bread to Milly instead of finishing it off, ordering a lighter meal instead of the usual hardy one she adored, and sometimes she simply said, “I’m not that hungry”. But actions like hers always lead to a slippery slope, one that tends to wrap its dirt-crusted nails around its victim and drag them into an early grave. She had never been someone who ate enough to feed an entire village, but not even she could survive on sips of water and the guilty crumbs she rarely allowed herself to consume. After a while though, it became natural, second nature to head off to bed while the sun still hung in the sky, claiming that exhaustion outweighed her hunger—which, she supposed, wasn’t all a lie.
The best lie, she had been told once, is the one that includes the truth.
Now, she recalled that advice as she sat at a table in the back of this dingy town bar. What should she say? What could she say? Recently she had been using up all her excuses left and right, the hunger in her belly growing and the pain in her heart becoming ever more sharp. The group had decided to stop by a local bar before heading to the hotel for the night, nearly everyone complaining about the rough day that had been forced to suffer through. And, to them, a drink was something they were eager to welcome. She, if she hadn’t been too preoccupied with her stomach pains, probably would’ve ordered a whiskey to clear her head of every annoying little thought.
She opted for water though. The least she could do was drink water; she owed it to herself, and so she honored that obligation. Throat parched, mouth achy; the water tasted amazing.
The bar erupted in a shout as someone tripped, roaring laughter drowning out the domestic conversation of her table. Too loud. Vaguely she heard someone mention dinner—she cringed. She did promise herself that she’d finally eat a crumb or a bite tonight (after nearly passing out yesterday she became all too aware of her weakness). She wasn’t dumb, she knew she’d have to eat eventually, that she’d wither away—but one more night, one more meal skipped, it couldn’t do any more harm, right? Besides, from what she had seen on the menu, the foods were all greasy, full of fat and carbs, and wouldn’t help her figure at all.
I just want to look pretty, she reasoned, skipping a meal tonight will help that. God forbid she ate too much and all her progress disappeared: letting that baby fat back under her chin, the muffin-top around her waist, or even the extra flesh on her belly? She’d rather die than let her body look like that again, much less look worse. It terrified her to her core. She needed to look good, and that meant, to her at least, that she must be skinny, thin, and agreeable. Starvation is a small price to pay for beauty.
A waiter slowly started to make their way across the room, eyes set on her table.
I need to go.
She stood up, giving a small smile, “I’m gonna head back to the hotel.”
“You’re leaving already Miss?” Milly asked, “it’s still early enough for one drink! C’mon!” She raised her glass and grinned, “look! Mr. Wolfwood and Mr. Vash are already enjoying themselves!”
Drunken giggles erupted across the table.
“Oh Milly,” Meryl sighed, “let the girl get her rest. God knows we all need it.” She waved her hand with the flick of her wrist, “if it wasn’t for the trouble you’re all bound to cause, I would’ve already left myself.”
“Hey!” Wolfwood barked out, “we’ve never caused trouble a day in our lives. . . well, can’t say much for Needle-noggin’ here.”
“It’s not my fault!” Vash cried, “trouble finds me! I always run away from it!” He sobbed into the table, “can’t a man catch a break?!”
Wolfwood laughed and patted him on the back, “it’s all God’s plan, my friend.”
“Well he sure does have a stupid plan!”
With a smile and silent wave, she slipped out from the table and weaved through the bar, the happy expression quickly falling off her face. I’m tired, she thought to herself, ignoring the biting air of the night. A dull ache in the pit of her belly made her stop for a moment, really tired. . .
She barely remembers getting back to the hotel, much less how she managed to get dressed and settled in bed before that wretched knocking woke her up. With a skip of her heart and a rapid smack of her arms to get the blankets off her cold body, she jumped out of bed and reached for the gun she had tossed on the floor. One smooth movement and she delicately wrapped her fingers around the metal. She didn’t even think about the possibility of her friends needing help, or perhaps just room service making their rounds; the only thing on her mind was the fact that she wasn’t prepared to die that night.
“Who’s there?” she grumbled out, ducking to hide beside the door, back to the wall. She rubbed lazy circles into the metal, finger twitching every so slightly over the trigger. She had never been the greatest shot, nor the most eager to kill, but she would do what had to be done if it came down to it.
“Vash.”
She blinked, sleep-clogged mind getting dunked into a vat of mean, old reality. Her situation hit her upside the head and she resisted the urge to put her face between her knees and groan about how dumb she is. Instead of wallowing in her stupidity (which, if you really think about it, wasn’t the worst reaction she could’ve had), she sighed, “oh.” A spike of relief shot through her like a summer’s breeze on a warm day. Shoulders relaxing and muscles begging to be sent back to bed. . . only, she wasn’t tired anymore. I’m not sleeping tonight, am I? Her heart still beat like a drum, thumping in her chest like no tomorrow, and her body—taunt and tense, ready for a moment's attack; that’s how she’s survived this long, by being prepared for every situation no matter the outcome.
“Can uh. . . can I come in?” Squeaked out Vash.
She cursed and opened the door, wooden creaking echoing throughout the hotel hallway, letting her occupied hand hang by her side, “yeah, sorry. What’s the matter?”
Vash stood in his usual clothes—red coat, ridiculous pants, and bulky boots; his gloves though, she noticed, he wasn’t wearing gloves. He gave her a small smile, “sorry did I scare ya?”
The smile made her less mad about the ordeal, kind and small. He never smiled too widely or genuinely, just enough to show that he cared, that he knew what happiness looked like—though she knew that he thought he’d never be able to obtain happiness, a faraway dream is how he described it to be. Oh, how if given the chance, she would give him all the joy he would ever want.
She shoved that thought aside.
“A little,” she raised the gun and gestured with it for Vash to come inside. “Why are you up so late?”
He slid into the room silently, walking over to sit on the edge of her bed, “couldn’t sleep.” he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck.
That was a lie. She could tell. “Want to talk?” She locked the door and once again tossed her gun next to her bed, hoping it wouldn’t go off from the rough handling. “Or jus’ need someone here?”
“Just talking, if you don’t mind.”
She nodded, “a’right. How was your day?”
He smiled, “good. You?”
“Peachy.”
The conversation died off.
Neither of them really knew what to say—unspoken words disease the heart and kill the soul, making the tongue bloated and thick. She, not knowing how to comfort her friend as her mind wandered from her own problems to the world’s in general, and he wasn’t sure how to get his point across.
Silence.
Vash cleared his throat, finally collecting his words, “are you. . . okay?” The question hung in the air sourly, sucking any sense of comfort out and churning it into an uninhabitable room of misery. He flinched, as if the mood of the room was hurting him physically. “You’ve been acting a little different lately.”
She leaned against the door, hoping the action would give her the confidence to either run away or admit her inner-thoughts.“Hmm? Fine, you?” She turned her gaze away. Could she run? No, he’d catch her in less than three seconds and her trying to slip out of the room would be an admission of her guilt. But she really didn’t want to talk about herself. She’s doing okay, isn’t she? Just a little tired, anxious, and sad. . . but she’ll get over it. Besides, it’s not like she’s dead yet.
“I’m good.”
“Good.”
Oh how painfully awkward this all was.
The bed squeaked as he moved to get into a more comfortable position, “I have some leftovers in my room, from dinner, if you want any.” He tapped his leg with his fingers, head angled slightly to watch her expression.
He knows.
Those eyes, no matter how much of a kind smile or goofy aura he carefully crafted to show everyone, his eyes gave away every part of his secret-self. The part of him that was scarily intelligent, observant, and abnormally calculating—a man smart enough to play dumb and a man strong enough to be kind. That part of him is what interested her so, the gravity that pulled her attention to him everytime he entered a room.
He knows.
With a defeated sigh she rubbed her shoulder and walked over to the bed, shoving herself behind him to lay back down. If she had to bare her soul to him, the least he could allow her to do was to be vulnerable while being comfortable. He moved slightly to allow her more room, facing away from her as if her very gaze would burn him. “I’m not hungry,” she gave one last effort to cover her lie, to toss her truth out the window in the hopes that it would be buried in the sand.
“You said that yesterday too.” He stared across the room, back rigid.
The sands never work in your favor.
“Huh,” she faced the wall, “guess I did.” The blankets were scratchy, old, and ratty, but she pulled them up to her chin nonetheless. She was tired now. All her adrenaline had poured out of her mouth, dripping onto the creaky wooden floor, seeping into the ground beneath.
“And the day before.”
“Are you sure?”
“Very.”
She closed her eyes, knowing she had finally been caught in her web of little half-truths. “Haven’t had the stomach to eat anything lately.” Perhaps she could escape this somehow—even though she knew it was futile, part of her accepting the fact that he wouldn’t let this go—, make him run away and stop caring, God that caring! It annoyed her to ends she had never seen before, yet she loved it so. If only he didn’t care, she clenched her fist into the blanket, then this wouldn’t have happened. And it’s not like she’s dying! Nor is she killing herself or drawing blood, she’s only skipping a meal every once in a while.
“I don’t. . .,” Vash trailed off locking his fingers together, “I don’t mean to pry, but you’re starving yourself.” He sat the words quickly, sharply, and promptly, as if he was afraid of them and needed to throw them out of his mouth as soon as possible.
All lies come to an end.
“I know.”
But wouldn’t it be nice if they could live forever?
He bit his lip. “Why?”
“You’re prying,” she snapped.
“Sorry,” he whispered.
The conversation died off.
She didn’t mean to sound so rough and uncaring—the opposite of that gentleman—but a fear had struck her heart and she couldn’t stop it. The only way to feel okay, to be okay, was if Vash stopped caring, stopped worrying, and walked out of the room without a second glance (no matter how much that would hurt). Only he had the power to alleviate this anxious pain but she knew she would never allow her to wallow in misery alone.
What did Wolfwood say? She thought to herself, misery enjoys company?
The air turned from sour to stiff, oppressing; like a hand had come to clasp her throat, fingers digging into flesh and muscles spasming as they tried to escape the hold, only it was fruitless.
“Sometimes,” Vash’s voice cut through the air, peeling the layers of devilish emotions back. Slowly he shuffled down to lay next to her, on his back, hands laced over his chest. “I feel like I don’t deserve to eat. . . how can I allow myself to eat when I know how the people I failed, the people I let die, will never be able to enjoy things like that again? And, really, I think part of me hopes I’ll die from starvation, so I can take an easy way out.” He paused and let out a shuddering sigh.
She didn’t move.
“I don’t know why you’re doing this, and you don’t have to tell me, but I understand in part. And if you ever need anything, I’m here. Okay?”
Why did he have to be like this? Why did he have to care? And why did she want to accept it so damn bad? If he had never noticed, if he had never looked at her with those eyes, if he had never met her—then she’d be living in her little palace of warped perception like a Queen of nothing but barren hearts. A ruler of her own land, a lawmaker who bows to no one; only this man had come into her secluded little kingdom, raided the halls of the castle, and whisked her away to feel the sun. It hurt her. To know how delicious the outside tasted, yet know how her soul felt safer within her prison.
“Do you think,” the words died in her tongue, nervousness making her numb. To hell with it, he already figured it out. Might as well bite the bullet.“ That I look pretty?” she whispered.
Silence.
Oh, that was a mistake, wasn’t it? The silence hurt in her ways that she didn’t even know could hurt.
Vash choked on his own spit and coughed, “w-what?”
Suddenly she wished the silence was still there.
Of course he’d have a reaction like that! She’s ugly, big, and broken. Why did she think it’s run out any different? “Nevermind.” She buried her face into the blanket, biting back a rumble of sobs in her throat; eyes stinging gently.
“No! No! You—you just caught me off guard! I think you’re beautiful, really.” He turned over frantically, hand awkwardly hovering over her shoulder as he talked into her neck.
“You wouldn’t think the same way if I was bigger,” she curled into herself, “if I was fatter.” She aggressively wiped her tears away, “and skipping a couple meals isn’t too bad if it’s for a good reason, you know?” She wasn’t sure if she was believing herself at this point.
He was silent.
“No matter what,” he twiddled his thumbs, ears turning red, “I think you’d still be beautiful. If you were taller, shorter, thinner, bigger, only had one leg or, um, like lost both eyes or something—” he heard her lowly whisper an audible “what?”, “I’d still think you’d look amazing. And, if anyone says otherwise, they don’t deserve you.” He hesitantly set a hand on her shoulder, rubbing comforting circles, “no matter what, I still cherish you.”
Her voice cracked, “thank you Vash.” His words didn’t convince her entirely, but still, they were nice to hear.
He hummed. “I know my words aren’t going to fix everything, but we can start here, if you want?”
She let out a bubbling sigh, trying desperately to keep her tears away in order not to embarrass herself further. “I'm scared.”
“That’s okay, I get scared all the time. I’ll be right here for you, the whole way.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”

Hello! I've been thinking about binding some danmei novels in my native language, but I don't know where to start. I found your blog recently and find it very inspiring! I was wondering if maybe you could share with me what tools and materials would be good to get started with?
Sure!!!! So, I'm on mobile and don't have links at hand, but if you go back through my bookbinding tag, there are other replies I've got about the materials for making a book specifically. The renegade publishing blog also has resource documents that walk through the bookbinding process and include links to educational materials, etc. So for here, I'll focus on the danmei side of things!
So, a fun feature about these books is that they tend to run LONG. I've seen a number of people try to take up bookbinding in google docs, and honestly, it's doing things on hard mode. For many danmei, it's basically impossible. I think my EARLIEST earliest attempt at svsss began in gdocs, and that's not a super long novel, but gdocs was choking on it. A word processor on your desktop is going to be your best bet. Personally, i invested in a microsoft office license, because it was familiar and i could afford it. But the free parallel to that will be libre office, which does basically everything word can do, with just minor differences.
On the fancy end of bookbinding software, affinity, indesign, and microsoft publisher are also names you may hear tossed around. These can do fancier, more artistic layouts, but also come with a heavier price tag. And because i had webnovels on my radar from the start, i wanted something ROBUST. I wanted to be able to dump all of the husky and his white cat shizun into a single file and work from it. And i did eventually do that! Being able to typeset a single file rather than repeat each step across several is great, especially since i tend to tweak design choices as i go.
For danmei, you're also going to want a robust printer. I have a color laser that's been an absolute beast of a machine, but a black and white laser can get you a long ways, and monochrome designs can be very elegant. You don't want an HP brand printer, their toner subscription practices are downright predatory, but Brother and Canon are names I've seen recommended highly. You probably don't want an inkjet printer, because long books take a LOT of ink. The one exception would be if you can find an affordable ink tank printer.
And the last major thing i can think of is that if your main computer is a laptop, consider typesetting with an external mouse and keyboard! Danmei novels are split into lots of short chapters, frequently split across just as many web pages, with lots of footnotes to format, and laptops are convenient but not ergonomic. Doing too much on there is just asking for a repetitive strain injury. I've done it, but often paid for my sins in pain! And your laptop keyboard may start complaining too, I'm almost certain my first typeset of mdzs was the nail in the coffin for my last laptop's keyboard, haha
I hope that helps! Best of luck to you! Ive found binding cnovels to be EXTREMELY rewarding, even though my original reason was because these things would NEVER be licensed in english 😂 I'm delighted to see people experimenting with it for other translations in other languages, I really hope it goes well for you!!!!

Hey! I’ve been a fan of G/T content for quite a while, but I’ve mostly stuck to Deviantart&Wattpad. Pretty recently I decided to create a Tumblr account in an attempt to find more content, and I’ve been amazed by how interactive the community is here! However, I noticed something that I find pretty weird, and just wanted to get an opinion from someone who seems to be a pretty active member of the community, at least from what I’ve seen.
In all the posts I’ve seen, I’ve never seen VR mentioned even once. I might just not be looking in the right place, but I just found it weird. I’ve been an avid VRChat player for a while, and having spent a large amount of time there I noticed the potential it holds for genres like G/T. I was expecting to find at least a single mention of it somewhere here, but I never have. I see lots of posts from both sides of G/T that mention something like, “I really wish I could just hold/be held by someone, etc.” and, well, I’ve had experiences like that. I’ve fallen asleep and woken up in a friend’s hands before. I’ve had friends sitting/standing on my shoulder. They don’t even know this community exists, these interactions just happen naturally.
I just want to share some of the experiences I’ve had, and when I went looking, nobody here seemed to know it was even possible. So yeah, that’s what finally motivated me to interact directly with the community. To at least let someone know that it is possible, and far more accessible than most seem to realize.
I’ll also make a standard post, but considering the fact that I’m a very new account I don’t expect many to see it. Thus why I messaged directly. I know this was a bit of a ramble, I'm still a little nervous about finally interacting with something I've only passively watched for quite a long time. So thanks for taking the time to read through, and I’d love to hear your opinion on why it isn’t mentioned, or anything else you wanna say! Take care out there!
OH! This is quite the interesting ask!! I may not be the best person to answer as I am far from techie.
First off, that sounds incredibly fun! I've only ever tried VR with an escape room - which oddly enough had a silly sizey experience; There was an issue with the calibration or something on one of the headsets and a friend who's just a little over 5ft had their in game avatar show up ballpark around 7ft tall.
I love that g/t seems to happen naturally with your interactions too! I'd love to hear more!
Now for the meat of the question- why isn't this mentioned? Again, keep in mind, I'm no techie or avid gamer so this is really biased towards myself. In no particular order,
Age
Price point
Tech Difficulty
Privacy
Missing sensations
My first guest would be age. I myself am in my mid/late twenties, and just never really grew up with that kind of tech, so theres just a lack of knowledge and not more than a passing interest in it. I think with age there also comes issues with free time, though I'll speak on that more with privacy. I think in general there tends to be a perception that VR chat rooms have a lot of minors (whether this is true or not, I have no clue, but as an adult that is a concern).
My second guess would be price point. Now, again, I am not a tech wiz, so I really don't know too well what would be a good headset (if any ol' cheap one would work, or if the oculus is the way to go), but I know the well known headsets are not at all cheap, and do also require a something to run them on (from my understanding thats just a good enough gaming pc? I have no clue.) Basically, there is a monetary component at play.
Thirdly would be tech difficulty. Some people are just bad at technology, and don't want to learn a new form of it.
Now privacy is what I would think is a big factor- and not online privacy. Roommates, siblings, spouses, family- if someone lives with another person they may not be comfortable being seen interacting on VRchat (especially with how paranoid some of us get with g/t), and then finding alone time is just an absolute pain with work, school, clubs, responsibilities etc.
Lastly, I think some people are hesitant about the missing sensations. Essentially, "who cares if all I can do is see it, I want to feel it." I think for some people it may have the opposite effect, and the degree of realism mixed with the very obviously "not real" cues could be more upsetting- being so close to having something you fantasize about but being reminded its not actually real.
Those are just my thoughts- and I hope others will add some of their own! This is quite the interesting topic and I'd love to hear more about it! As I mentioned earlier, I have very limited experience with VR, but from what little experience I did have it was a ton of fun! I feel like VRchat could be something a lot of people in the community could enjoy if they knew more/had access to it.

Where would you recommend looking to purchase Touhou cosplay outfits? I've been looking through EZcosplay, But I'm really skeptical of the how the quality may be. Are there other sites that you think would be better? I know you make a lot of your outfits by hand, but I really just don't have the skills to do anything wonderful like that. Thanks! Love your work!!!
Hello! First off thank you so much! I do make some of my stuff but typically if I am buying cosplays I do so secondhand. Mostly because it saves me a bit of money! So sadly I do not have a lot of experiences purchasing new! However I'll try to help the best I can with what I know :D! If you are interested in buying secondhand please send me a message and I'll send you my big info pile on it. I have a lot more experience with it in comparison so I have a ton of links and information on it! Ok so for new! I think the best place currently in terms of price and quality is typically Taobao. A lot of stores like aliexpress and other online shops that sell touhou cosplays are often just reselling from Taobao. Buying off Taobao can be a little tricky but you will need a proxy. I know a few touhou cosplayer mutuals of mine have had a lot of success with bhiner cosplay It is basically a taobao proxy with a focus on cosplay and there is a whole touhou section here <--- I have only ordered here once and it was for a Yukari Parasol prop. It was a pretty good experience overall and the quality was nice. The only major issue recently is I've hear Bhiner has stopped accepting paypal for payment. I'd have to try to put an order in to confirm that but it might be something worth looking into another proxy for! At the very least its a great way to browse what is currently being sold and bhiner always links the actual taobao stores themselves, so you could easily go through another proxy! Another touhou cosplayer also made a handy guide on buying some of the more fancy premades as well I'll also link that here <------ A very helpful guide!! I bought a costume off a cosplayer that bought it from a shop called fm-anime . Can't speak for the ordering process but the quality pretty good! It was a Touhouvania Alice cosplay. It looks like they have limited stock these days with touhou but it might be worth a look! RoleCosplay seems to have a decent selection and even some less popular touhou characters. I've never ordered off here myself though so I'd maybe look into reviews a bit more! Maybe I should put in a test order and do a review one day LOL EzCosplay (as you stated) I have heard mixed things about! It used to be regarded as a pretty okay place to get Touhou cosplays from but more recently I've seen some people complain about sizing issues and quality in regards to their photos vs product etc! So I'd maybe avoid that one! Lastly there was this google doc made a little while ago with some shops listed. I do not know if this is up to date but I thought I'd share https://docs.google.com/document/d/12w82AVDHKmJ1dKRRZ3CAYiy1S5TbqOR_o91NCJVqgUQ/edit Also there is a touhou cosplay discord I could get you the invite to (just send me a message first) Its full of really nice and supportive people and theres a cosplay shopping talk channel and lots of people with experience there that can help out! There's also a secondhand cosplay sale channel as well if you wanted to buy directly off another cosplayer! Anyways I hope that helped. Again please feel free to message me anytime if you need specific help. I'm always happy to help people cosplay touhou in any way possible :D If you have a specific character you want to do I can try and get as many links for you put together that I can as well!!

What is with the anons recently😭
I don't think you can "sexualize" ftm people. You can definitely fetishize them! But that's like saying trans people don't have sex..? Imo anyways
Writing female anatomy =/= Writing ftm characters femininely
I've read so much of your work and I've never seen it as "oh this is just a woman with he/him pronouns slapped on"??? I've DEFINITELY felt that way about other writers, but never you. All the characters you've written as ftm, like Price, have felt like those characters and they just happened to have top surgery scars and pussies
Also... I cannot think of a single time I, as a trans man, have hopped on Tumblr after being suffering the consequences of being trans all day and thought "god I hope my favorite author wrote about how awful it is to be trans sometimes"??
Idk, that's a weird anon in my opinion,,
-🐧
Sugar i really appreciate this thank you so much for taking the time to write this for even sending an ask, especially clarifying that you don’t perceive i feminize trans male characters.
I think we are bound to experience pieces differently. For example anonie could very well mean that they’re uncomfortable with the fact that I write pregnant trans characters and that’s 100% cool. I for example would never ever read a pregnant trans reader piece, even though anon told me I should be writing trans reader instead. Each to their own!
If y’all want me to tag something I’ll happily do it, if something throws you off like using afab terms for genitals I can happily tag that or pregnancy fics or anything really.
I just want everyone to feel good or safe on my account.
Also in terms of writing the struggles with being trans and so on and so forth, totally cool if someone writes that! However like I said this is a smut writing account and it will stay that way. There are plenty of great fics on ao3 that depict the struggles of being trans but here you’ll only find porn.
Anyways giving you a big hug! Thank y’all for looking out for me and really if y’all see me doing something a little off court do tell me and I’ll try to reply and accommodate as best as I can🫶🏻

It's so refreshing to see creepypasta stuff again after, like, 12 years lol. It's nostalgic.
I've recently been super into Lost Silver again, got so into it that I wrote a whole character sheet for my version of gold, and found your Headcanons while looking through some stuff! I love them very much. I didn't think many other people had the HC that he's definitely ANGRY alongside sad. It's super believable to me. I love all of your HCs for him. They're super good.
Would you feel like blessing us with some more sometime?? I haven't seen HCs that aren't x reader, and yours are just great. I'd love to hear more about the boy!!
anon you have no idea how much this made my day!1 i’m so glad ppl agree with the whole angry gold HC, he 100% has anger issues.
now, here are some more Lost Silver headcannons.
Tumblr media
We’ve already gone over how angry Gold feels with himself and how stupid he feels for treating life so selfishly. Poor guy really needs therapy. (Is there such a thing as ghost therapy..?)
Gold has an unusual obsession with rainy weather. He’s a glitch! You’d expect him to hate water, but no! The sounds are therapeutic to him, also the pokémon like it as well. It’s one of the only times he allows his mind to rest.
He’s not threatening toward people. Gold has no intentions of hurting others, as he believes his demise was his fault and his fault alone. Why should others pay for his foolishness? Don’t get me wrong, Lost Silver is a powerful entity, but just because the boy died doesn’t mean he’s lost all of his morals. ..Maybe he’s lost a few, but come on. I’m trying to say Gold doesn’t kill like his other creepypasta “friends”. He’s capable of doing so, but doesn’t see the point in it.
His voice is more gravely and echo-y side. Not deep, but definitely not normal. It almost sounds like he’s talking in a big empty room on the rare occasion Gold actually talks. It’s a bit uncomfortable to listen to at first, with how unsettling it sounds, but you’ll get used to it.
Well, since we’re on the topic! On the rare events Gold would talk, it would be in one-to-two-word responses usually. I would say it’s not because he doesn’t want to talk to you but come on, we all know he absolutely despises talking to people he doesn’t know. Often he will scare others with how quiet he is. Gold could have been in the room for hours before you found out he was even there! Really, it’s terrifying. Even if you ask him: “How long have you been there?!”, he would give some unhelpful ass answer. “Long enough.” Like, what the fuck does that mean, man?!
It’s kinda funny, though.
On a sad note, Gold often “lets” his emotions get the best of him. There are times late at night when you can’t stop the angry torment in your mind. He can’t help but wail endlessly into the void until his throat gives out, unable to do anything else but scream out every bit of emotion left in his body. They always sound angry, his cries of regret and intense pain for the fate he thought he could escape. After all these years, he’s never going to accept that death indeed caught up to him. No matter how hard the boy tried, he could never escape the inevitable. Now he must pay the price.
After his death, Gold never really focused on wanting a partner. He’s aware he’s too emotionally unavailable for one. It wouldn’t be a healthy relationship with Gold, and he knows that. Maybe one day, if he ever gets his shit together, that is. But we all know it will be quite a while before that. Plus, he can barely make friends with his attitude! How in the world would he get a partner?
Game nights between Gold and Glitchy Red are incredibly chaotic. Seriously, never be in the same room as them on a game night. You’ll hear insults you never knew EXISTED, and god forbid they pull out Mario Kart or Smash Bros. One of the only times Gold has zero problems talking... *Shivers.*
Gold totally always wins in Smash bros, BTW. Red hates it.

Can I ask where you shop for clothes? your style is 🤩
oh thank you so much!!
so disclaimer, I am a small fat (actual term on the scale of 'fategories', helpful to look up!!), but still plus size, so it's hard to find things that fit my ass sometimes lol. Bc the fashion world is very not friendly for anyone, I do end up shopping at places that are considered fast fashion. It's unfortunate and i'm trying to get better about my capitalist consumption, but again, being plus size is hard. It's about balancing what you can afford, how often you buy clothes, and looking into smaller businesses (especially Queer, Black, or Indigenous business)
But for pants, I often default to fast fashion like ASOS and Nova Men. They just unfortunately have the jeans that fit me best. They're both good places to start, if you have a similar body type to me and need more affordable options
I thrift a lot! And I also vulture department stores for deals and sales. I like Macy's a lot actually LOLLL, and I personally think Nordstrom is overrated. I really like off-price department stores too, like Saks Off 5th, which sell overstock from their more expensive branches.
For small businesses, I really like Stuzo Clothing for their fun shirts and hats. Black lesbian owned!
There's also the pretty well-known queer owned WILDFANG, which recently increased their sizes by a lot! I haven't bought from them just yet (they're style isn't really me as much), but I have seen their quality in person and it's good!
I've been a little obsessed with getting my jewelry from Vitaly. Don't think they're queer or bipoc owned though
ANYWAY sorry to ramble, hope that's some fun info for you to get started! Thanks for liking my style!

COD Men Headcanons
they are all that is on my mind. every second of every day it is just them. not a single moment goes by where i am at rest because of these men. therefore, headcanons.
--soap has ADHD and stims by moving around a lot. he'll jump on the spot sometimes, pace around the room, sway from side to side, and sometimes he'll repeatedly try to crack his knuckles (i do this one).
--i've seen other people have this headcanon and i absolutely adore it. ghost has a glasgow smile, soap gently runs his fingers along it whenever they're alone and ghost has his mask off, admiring it.
--gaz can play the piano and sing really well, he once did a drunken performance of 'someone like you' by adele. everyone has videos of it saved as blackmail.
--alejandro used to have a tongue piercing that he got done with rodolfo when they were teens. neither of them have it anymore though.
--price denies it, but he is literally like a dad for TF 141. the amount of stupid drunk shenanigans that he has had to prevent the others from doing is unbelievable. he probably has a whiteboard where he adds a tally mark every time something dumb happens with one of them.
--rodolfo is allergic to cats. soap takes the piss out of him for it since he is a cat person. he says things like "imagine being allergic to the best animal ever" or simply just says "weak" whenever there's a cat around and he catches rudy starting to rub his eyes because they're watering.
--ghost doesn't listen to a lot of music, preferring things like podcasts and audiobooks. however, when he does listen to music, he listens to typical 'british dad' music.
--this is another one that i've seen someone mention, but soap likes to design tattoos for ghost in his journal. he never actually shows them to him though.
--gaz has some of the best one-liners ever. really random, but i can picture him being silent in a conversation with the rest of TF 141 and then all of a sudden dropping the most outlandish, jaw-dropping sentence ever and shocking everyone into silence for a good minute.
--alejandro is in denial over this, but he adores physical affection. both giving and receiving. he'll pat others on the back, sling an arm around their shoulders, hug them, lean against them, anything for some physical contact.
--price is a book lover just like ghost, and they often share books and hold conversations that are solely about their most recent read. they discuss their favourite characters, plot twists and anything else they found interesting or terrible. price is usually the one to recommend books to ghost.
--rodolfo is a very emotional drunk. he could sit in silence for a few seconds then just burst out crying. everyone has to keep reassuring him that they care for him to stop him from crying for the 3rd time of the night. he doesn't know this and no one tells him in the morning after drinking.

this evening you decided to follow your new friend to its job at the bar, because you had a day off and you were bored, and you forgot that there's a reason you don't usually go out, to clubs or whatever. you don't hate it and you're not overwhelmed yet but there's not all that much here for you. you asked the bartender for something slightly less alcoholic and she gave you this very colorful glass of, uhh, something, you didn't catch the name. very loud in here. the cocktail is nice enough, tastes like artificial fruit. you wouldn't be able to hear your friend if it wanted to talk, but it seems to just like having you nearby, and that does in fact make you feel all soft and warm inside.
the two of you just watch the crowd for a while, it's a normal enough night. then you catch someone making a beeline for your friend, someone with a slightly weird look to him. patchy facial hair and a bit of a jittery vibe. he comes up to the two of you and starts trying to say something to your friend, who after a moment of very focused frowning, shakes its head and gestures out a door, into the exit hallway. the two of them move and you follow.
[Hi, hello, my name is Alister, Stefan recommended you to me. Said you were his best. And- wait, who's this, then?]
the guy, alister, tries to stare you down. it's not terribly effective, you're quite a bit taller then him. then, in a move you weren't expecting, your friend reaches over and takes your hand in their good one. this catches you off guard, you have to take a second to sort of process it. they're warm, in a comfortable and ordinary way, and their hand is mildly calloused.
[Ah, alright, I see. Sure, I guess that's fine, partner in crime or whatever. But listen, I'm here to offer you a job. Do you have your own weapons?]
they shake their head.
[That's fine, I can sort that out for you. But I have a hit, who my connections have recently made me aware of. And there is a handsome reward on his head, which is why I only have one shot. Which is why I need the best. Which is why I'm looking for you.]
they think on it for a second, then nod, once. you are- uh, you have some questions about the situation. you decide to voice some of them.
[hang on. what, uhh- what sort of price are we talking about here?]
he leans in close to whisper [*A hundred and sixty thousand!* And that's after I've taken my cut! This is too good to pass up!]
[and how big is your cut?]
[Oh, well- moderately sized, I'm sure you'll understand...]
after a bit of heckling, you get your friend's cut of the profits up to 200k, which you are quite happy with. that's enough to get a house, or a nice car, or an overly fancy piece of new tech, or- you stopped listening. whoops. alister is handing your friend a small and inconspicuous usb drive.
[The details of the hit are on here, and if you are at the right place at the right time I will have arranged for there to be a good quality sniper rifle there for you. Leave it behind after you're done, try not to leave too many fingerprints on it, and try not to be seen as you go. Got that?]
it nods again, once, with a look of calm focus that, if you're being honest, freaks you out ever so slightly. nothing about this situation has caught it off guard. alister is gone now, the interaction is over, and you ask it [you have... experience in this department?]
it nods, while moving back to its spot by the rim of the dance floor. it carefully presses the usb into your palm, and you put it into one of your pockets, a small one so it won't fall out. you- this seems- hm. are you in over your head? maybe not. it seems as though the hardest parts of this job will be in the hands of others, with experience. and the pay will be really good, if you don't cock it up. good enough to get you on your feet. or to get your friend that prosthetic. that does actually take priority. yeah okay. you're going to do a good job the first time around, get a high quality aid and install it properly, to minimize lingering problems. that is actually your area of expertise, you're going to do a good job there. you know you will. you know you can.
-
you aren't going to plug this usb drive directly into your not-shitty computer, you have no idea what's on here. or, well, you have an idea of what is supposed to be on here, but you don't trust this guy that much. you spend a bit of time messing with an old, crunchy laptop you found in a skip, and eventually it turns on. oh damn, this thing actually isn't terrible. you could save it if you wanted. but you don't want, you need a test subject in case this drive has malware on it, so you plug the USB right into the poor little computer. and it doesn't die! nothing actively malicious on here, from what you can see. a couple documents, a couple maps, and a list of instructions. and an executable. oooooh.
you give your friend the laptop, and they take their time to read through everything. once you get the laptop back, that .exe has been opened. you're about to chastize them for their terrible digital safety skills when you see what the program is for. it's a security cam feed. holy shit?? okay, that's quite cool. the cams show two empty rooms, which the instructions doc says are the room for the 'agent', the person doing the job, and the room that the target will be in. you're curious about the software this uses, now. you'll try to take a look at it, once you have time. you're in no terrible rush, you're not late yet, but this isn't the sort of thing you want to be late for *at all*. so you leave shortly. you don't bring much, and you dress in a non-eye-catching way, no bright colours, face covered, and you take sandy's car, you asked her yesterday and she said sure. you didn't tell her what it would be for, but that's probably fine.
the drive there is uneventful, but by the time you arrive you are thoroughly anxious. there are so many ways this whole situation could explode and kill both of you. you have no idea what you're doing. oh god. you jump a bit when your friends rests it's hand on your shoulder. you look over to it, and it holds its hand out over its chest. in, and out. deep breaths. you laugh at that, kinda. how the hell is it not nervous? maybe it's just better at hiding it. that's probably it. whatever, deep breaths. you've got this. it's got this. it gets out of the car and slips through the back door of the designated building. the car is turned off, nice and quiet, and you open the test laptop and pull up the security cam feed. there it is, and there they are. the target is sat at the edge of that crowd, not as close to the window as you'd like, but his platinum blond haircut makes him easy to spot. and there's the sniper rifle, where it was promised to be. the agent only takes a moment to wrangle it into its good hand, and then it's in position.
a long moment goes by. several long moments. it almost feels peaceful.
and then it takes the shot.
your cams don't have audio, but the sound is loud enough that it jolts through your chest, even in the relative safety of your little car. your monitoring station. your agent needs to get back, now. and not be seen. it keeps low, and it moves smoothly out the door. and now you can't track it. the other cam is just showing the conference room, which has broken out into chaos. yeah, yeah. more importantly, no one seems to be trying to find the gunman yet. too busy panicking. goddd where is it. you need to get out of here. you were drumming your fingers against the steering wheel, but that was too loud, freaked you out more. so now you're drumming your fingers against your legs. it's a bit quieter. where the fuck- THERE IT IS thank god. okay. it steps into the car, and as soon as it's closed the door you are OUT OF THERE at a normal and calm speed. you are normal you are not on the run. you are normal. ohhh god. okay you are driving slightly too fast because you are panicking. oh no oh no. you ask it to keep an eye out for anyone on your tail. you don't see it's response, your eyes are on the road. you merge onto a main road, and you know no one will be able to follow you from here, because you can see two other cars of this same make and model already. very common and normal car. but you don't actually calm down until you're back at sandy's place, where you sit on the couch and put your head in your hands, and you try to count your breaths. deep and slow. calm down. holy fuck and shit. someone sits down next to you. it's your friend. the agent. it just did that. it just took a life. you helped it. because you're friends. and the money will be good. deep breaths. you ask if you can hold its hand, and it lets you. it's hand is warm and ordinary, and calloused from years of doing whatever. this, probably. and maybe normal work, whatever that would be for them. you are calming down now, you think. what the fuck. what the fuck. but at least the job is done.
-
you had to be very clever about it and you had to call in more then a few favors with people who know people who know people who you met at the weird bar, but you are in a good place now, in terms of stability. you don't have, like, a house, fuck no. you have a little truck, with a little operating table inside, and storage shelves crammed in every space available that isn't in the way of you, the operator. it's a fine little box of hardware, you're proud of it. you take the moment to reflect as you clean up your surgical tools. the operation was a success, you did a good job, you think. most of that money of yours went to getting this osseointegrated arm implant manufactured properly, so that it fits perfectly. and it does. the implant goes into the remaining forearm bone and the prosthetic connects to the implant, and excess tissue is carefully removed so that the area is smooth and generally as unobtrusive as possible, and you know that it'll heal up well. your friend won't wake up for a while yet, you take a moment to sit down next to it on the table. you can hear them breathing, slow and calm. their face is decorated with small patches of slightly discoloured skin, small scars, you're pretty sure they are. little scratches and things that healed most of the way fine enough. you wonder about this guy, and its past. its whole story. you wonder if it would want to tell you, to remember and recount like that. maybe you could get it a type-style [hehe] communicator thing. maybe you could make one. maybe you could learn sign together. does it know sign already? it might. that's something for you to learn. lots of somethings, actually. but you like learning, and you have time for it. you take a deep breath, and close your eyes. just at the edge of your hearing, you can hear the city, all those people going about their day. and right here, you can hear you and your friend, just breathing. existing together. it's nice.

ARC REVIEW: Everyone I Kissed Since You Got Famous by Mae Marvel
Tumblr media
3.75/5. Releases 6/11/24.
Vibes: second chance (or first chance after you never took the second), figuring out what love actually is, the cult of celebrity
Heat Index: 6.5/10
Wil Greene and Katie Price grew up together--their moms were best friends, after all. Then, in their senior year of high school, they became best friends... and almost more. But Katie went off and become a super successful, internationally famous actress; and more recently, Wil has become known for a viral TikTok account where she kisses new people every week and posts the videos. Katie's seen plenty of them. And now that she's back in Wisconsin for a month, she may be ready to finish what she and Wil almost started all those years ago.
This is an overall lovely (though imperfect) heartfelt, funny, and sexy romance that sort of mashes second chance with friends to lovers, though like--were they ever friends? Or were they finally allowing themselves to be close to each other despite the burgeoning tension? It's hard to say.
Don't worry about the celebrity angle--it's not that sexuality doesn't matter here, but you don't have a lot of "but what will the public think?" angst. Not that that's inherently wrong for queer celebrity romances. But this book is focused on something else, and though I think it sometimes got wrapped up in the characters' heads, it still leaves me wanting to read more from the Mae Marvel team (yes, that's a pen name for two writers!).
Quick Takes:
--Okay, so I want to get something out of the way here, as the back copy mentions 'Tis the Damn Season: how Taylor Swiftian is this? I would say, overall... enough to where, even if you notice a thing here or there, you can overall ignore it. The biggest thing for me was Katie's cats, which she's quite well known for having. And really? That probably wouldn't have come off as Swiftian to me if not for the TtDS comp. So... while I get it, I do wonder if that comp will turn some people off. I hope it doesn't.
--There's actually a really interesting connection between Wil's TikTok videos and Katie. Like, I was initially hesitant about the TikTok aspect, but the way it loops back to this connection between the two of them (beyond Katie being turned on by them... which she is) is clever. I appreciate that degree of thought going into it, the subtle character work.
--What's not subtle is the way that Wil and Katie talk to each other! I was of two minds on this. On the one hand, I kind of like that right out the gate these two are upfront about being into each other. It dodges a lot of the issues I find with friends to lovers stories, because again... are they friends? When they admit that they at minimum want to fuck from the beginning?
On the other, I did feel like these two communicated a little too well. I've seen a lot of reviews celebrating this, and I get it! But there's good communication that feels real, and good communication that's a little too good to be true. This was the latter, though it isn't too big of an issue. It's just that--at some point, I was like "okay we know where we stand, let's get this tied up". It's not because I wanted the story to end... But a huge part of any potential central conflict never happened, because Wil and Katie were on the same wavelength from the jump. Again, for a lot of people that's going to be great. For me, it did slow the book down a bit.
--In the same sense, these two just like each other so much. They're so besotted. And you get that over and over in the narrative. How amazing Wil thinks Katie is, how remarkable Katie thinks Wil is. And I would say that most of the time, that's really cute and genuine and sweet and soft. But it did go a little overboard.
--There's a really compelling backstory on both sides, and both are so real (in often sad ways). And in general, this was something I liked about these characters. Even when the sequence of events isn't that realistic--Katie has done a LOT in her young years, even by super famous actress standards--the leads still feel real. It adds to their love story and the intimacy between them.
The Sex:
The sex in this novel isn't that explicit, though I appreciate the diversity of sex acts and the way in which it was all seen as sex. You get about four-ish scenes. But beyond that, there is SO much sexual tension in this book, and it's hot. I mean, a lot of this novel is about kissing, and the moments before kissing, and knowing you want to kiss someone... It's delicious.
Was this a flawless book? No. I think there are still some things that need to be smoothed out, more of an emphasis put on the things that really leans into the raw and honest moments Marvel writes. But it's a fun read, and if you want to read about two ultimately good women falling in love--this is it.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Anime Ocean City
So, yes my best bro and I went to Anime Ocean city for the first time last weekend. A convention that I had no idea is only 2 years old now.
The convention was only 2 days in comparison to the three day conventions we typically attend and since the badges were so affordable we did actually buy the VIP tickets (a luxury reserved for the rich at most cons I've been to). That allowed us to skip the normal line which was already wrapped around the hallway. We only had two people in front of us.
Anyway, overall it was a small convention. They only took up the 2nd floor of the convention center while the first floor had what I now know was some kind of wild-foul carving competition (carving and painting things like decoy ducks). There were only about 4 panels and they were all held in the auditorium. We went to the guest Q and As, the first one was with Catherine Sutherland and Steve Cardenas who were the third pink power ranger and second red ranger. It was interesting to hear about how they ended up auditioning and getting their parts, some stories about how things were on the set, etc. but for me personally I stopped watching Power Rangers halfway through season 2 so I only kinda knew Rocky (Red Ranger) and barely knew Cat so I didn't have many questions but Conner had seen season 3 as his last one so I think he was excited to see both of them.
The second Q+ A was with Wayne Grayson (known for characters like Michalangelo (TMNT...don't know which iteration) and Joey from Yuugioh among others) and Erica Shroeder (Luffy, the 2nd voice of Mai Valentine, Nurse Joy, various Pokemon etc.) It was interesting to hear their stories too overall.
I was kinda disappointed in the Dealer's room because they basically mixed the vendors and artist alley together and there was no clear distinction between the two. There also weren't any vendors selling DVDs or Blurays and no one selling English-language games with only a small amount of Japanese games. I don't mind having the option to get Japanese games of course but for our channel I'm always on the lookout for deals on games we could play on our channel (that and it infuriates me how hypocritical it is to overprice US Pokemon games but keep the Japanese ones affordable!)
There were plenty of places to buy manga but the recent rise in prices for manga has sadly turned me off of buying and tbh even reading manga. I love manga a lot but I feel like it might have to wait till I'm more fluent in Japanese and can comprehend Japanese volumes. Anyway, the local artists there were talented. It was good to see some love for athletic and curvy women from one of the artists there. There were plenty of Pokemon artists, I bought some Eeevlution pins to make up for the fact that all Pokemon plushies were overpriced and I just can't justify buying them because how dare you make me choose one!
Sunday was the day we shopped because there were no panels that day and the hours were short for both days so we honestly spent a lot of time out of the convention just enjoying ourselves nearby. We played some mini-golf at a place near our hotel and of course ate some delicious seafood on the shore.
That's about it, it was a modest convention but it was good overall. I do hope as they get more experience they'll get more events and improve some quality of life things like actually printing a schedule or having a printed out map, these are things that I guess I took for granted until going to a con that didn't have them. I'm happy OC has this now though since as far as I can tell they didn't have a dedicated Anime Convention in the area so I'm glad for that.

SO-12: The Spirit of Harpo Marx
If there's a lot of engagement on this, this post is liable to get real long, beware before you expand.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Engagement Lounge, for Alight at the Window (SO-12) an instalment! Short comments can go in the replies, but there's a 475 character limit. Longer ones will need a reblog. Remember to @asksoldieron if you're reblogging someone else's reblog, so I can see it too!
Awwwwww, ya know? Awwwwww ❤️!
Poor Erik is in ⚡🔋no shape🔋⚡ to communicate, but he's doing his best. Maggie has no idea whether he's messing with her on purpose, or what's wrong with him, but she won't let him go. They'll get to him eventually. (I've just finished that part, actually. They've got him! Uh. Sorta. At least he's... safe now? 😅Oh, I can't say that with a straight face.)
This is the last of my queued posts/instalments, and I have no idea where my reading and drawing ability will be when it goes live. If I can't update you on my condition (and the condition of the next six instalments) I'll hafta have the spouse type a note for me. I want to do six more right away, or I might take a two week break, or - if I'm really struggling - it'll be a break of indeterminate length. I hope I'll be okay to just keep going, my Patrons have been so patient this year. Thanks, y'all.
But, either way, there will be a break at some point, because I'll have a while where I can't write or draw and that's going to eat up my backlog. Also, recent updates have done more stupid things to my theme and I think the site needs a redesign - maybe including some radical simplification. I'm just not mobile friendly and I can't make the current format behave. People with better eyesight than me do a lot of reading on their phones.
I have no idea how to build a community and I'm flailing, really, but maybe if I can get the interface more convenient, more people will like me? (I have no idea. Probably they won't.)
Look, though! You've got some extra art to tide you over! And a song!

I'm not in love with how Erik's design looks right now - he looks like a train wreck, but he should look like a train wreck. Nobody is going to fix his hair. I still feel self-conscious about it. He used to be cute. I've got to do a full-body rendering of how he'll clean up, but I don't have time for it now.
However, I did do a page of something trying to get comfortable with his ability to emote in train reck form. I don't have time to finish it, but I think it looks cool so I'm sharing.

This is potentially a way for me to serve you the music without lyric backgrounds that you can't read! It's very labour-intensive, but I was figuring out how to do it and it might get a little easier with practice. Also, my current tablet is struggling with the resolution and I plan to update it by the end of the year - depending on sale prices.
After I saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch, I found out the original Off-Broadway incarnation had filked music with lyrics by John Cameron Mitchell. 🥹😊I'm calling it! This is something other people sharing my identity do to tell their stories! Filk musicals are an enby thing! We do not give a shit about the music industry's copyrights! I'm performing nonbinary correctly!
So here's the lyrics again, and maybe I'll give you the rest in comic form as my vision and my tools improve.
You Are Found! (based on "We Are Young" by fun.) I need a minute, I… I don’t know if I’m ready yet I’m tryin’ to get my shit together, Maggie, please don’t be upset My family must be looking for me somewhere very near Guess I knew you must be coming but I can’t believe you’re here, and… It’s been forever since I’ve seen your face I know you want to take me home But although it hurts to do this work they need my help for what it’s worth —  Oh, gods I’m not sure if I wanna go So maybe if, next time you see me, You can take me by the hand, You’ll steal me away At last I am found So I guess the party’s over Time to get sober, and come down At last I am found So I guess the party’s over Time to get sober, and come down No, I wanna go home I’m just not done I guess that I, I just hoped We could visit and I’d get right back to work But I can’t go yet So I must forget 'Cause I think you’ll hafta steal me away At last I am found So I guess the party’s over Time to get sober, and come down At last I am found So I guess the party’s over Time to get sober, and come down Steal me away at last (na na na na na na) Come steal me away at last (na na na na na na) Steal me away at last (na na na na na na) Come steal me away at last (na na na na na na) The gods have their own plan (na na na na na na) But I’m just one weary man (na na na na na na) So you're gonna hafta steal me away at last (na na na na na na) I have so much to do (na na na na na na) How can I go with you? (na na na na na na) So you're gonna hafta steal me away (na na na na na na) At last I am found So I guess the party’s over Time to get sober, and come down At last I am found So I guess the party’s over Time to get sober, and come down So maybe if, next time you see me, You can take me by the hand You’ll steal me away at last
See you soon! Ha, I hope!
Late edit: Two week break, folks. No drawing ability yet, so we're stuck with it. I still hope to get you the next six by the end of the year. I'll keep you posted!

you may have answered this before, and if so sorry for bothering you, but where would you recommend going to get sewing supplies (various fabrics, thread, fluffy filling, weighted filling, etc)?
Hi! I can't remember if I've answered this before or not, but either way it's not a bother. All my answers will be pretty US-based, because that's where I live and where I get all my supplies from. Answers below the read more, because this will get a little long
So, first thing: Joanns Fabric. It's a chain store, with decent quality, good selection, and decent prices (that regularly go on sale and regularly have good coupons). I love Joanns, and I get all my fluffy filling and most of my quilt batting from them (but wait for a sale! It's not worth paying full price, it'll go on sale for 40-50% off pretty regularly). I also get most of my thread from Joanns (well, truthfully most of my thread is from various people destashing, but my new thread is from Joanns mostly). Thread goes on sale pretty regularly too. Joanns has a decent but not great minky selection that's on the mid-to-high end of the minky price spectrum, and my local Joanns has an *excellent* faux fur selection that's extremely expensive when not on sale (but also goes on sale for 50% off regularly). Your Joanns' selection may vary, though; my old Joanns back in California had a much better minky selection but a much worse faux fur selection. Quilting fabrics you *can* get at Joanns, but I'd recommend local quilt shops. The quality of the fabric tends to be better, you support a local small business, and you get to get advice from the inevitable Quilt Shop Grandma who, at least in my experience, will immediately want to help you as soon as you set foot in the shop. Also, sometimes a Quilt Shop Grandma will befriend you and gift you fabrics they are destashing. If you can't afford the higher price point of local quilt shops, Joanns' quilting fabric works just fine for quilting, and the remnants bin at Joanns is my absolute favorite (at least 50% off whatever the current price of the fabric is, and the fabrics are frequently discounted anyway, and sometimes it's 75% off, and you can get a yard of fleece for like a dollar. It's the best!!) These days, I get almost all of my minky and some of my quilting fabric online. My favorite online quilt shop is CaliQuiltCo Etsy (on the higher end of the pricing scale, but excellent minky selection and they are one of the only online quilt shops I've seen that will let you order minky 1/4 yard at a time instead of 1 or 2 yards at a time), and recently I've gotten some excellent deals from Green Fairy Quilts (a warning: the website is not set up super well, and the receipts look a little weird, but the prices are really good and the fabric is some of the major quilting fabric brands). Side note: Shannon minky is the brand of minky I prefer. There are competitors, but Shannon minky is my favorite - consistently good quality, good colors, and it doesn't like dissolve around the edges when you cut it. I get my weighted filling (polypellets) from Walmart. I haven't really found them anywhere else? If you have any more specific questions about a particular kind of fabric/stuffing/supplies, please feel free to ask! I love talking about crafting and I'm happy to share the resources I've found
