Tiqvah. 

The first time i heard of this word was when I saw this on my brothers whatsapp status. I thought to myself what a funny sounding word. Later on I discovered it means HOPE in Hebrew. 

We take hope lightly but eventually if this element of hope isn't wired in our systems and in our beliefs then there would ideally be no purpose to life. 

So what is it that I hope for? Every day there are things that i hope for and wish to see it happen. 

Today at our online church service (thanks to corona we couldn’t go to church physically!) the message was on having a living hope which is tangible. 

You know in the Bible, there is a hall of faith which I like to call the Faith Hall of fame of all the hero’s & heroine’s of the Bible. There are two women listed, one being Sarah and other Rahab! Got me thinking why she? She was a woman with a checkered past, She was an outcast and what she did to the Israeli spies was no doubt a noble thing but why so important that it had to earn her a spot in the hall of fame?

Coincidentally today in my devotional time I was doing the book of Joshua and today was Chapter 2! Exact same spot where Rahab is in the story! One thing she said stood out to me ‘The Lᴏʀᴅ your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath’ and I thought to myself -  See this!! This knowledge (statement of faith!) is what saved her and her family!

This shows her heart of faith when she knows there is a storm of war brewing in her homeland. See you are not limited by your past there is always a future oh what a glorious future, She turned out to be in the Holy lineage of Christ himself. She was the mom-in-law of Ruth! Father of Boaz. Oh what a story of redemption of brokenness to beauty! 

And just like the scarlet rope turned out to be her source of hope of living, we all have a scarlet rope dipped in the blood of Christ which we could hang on to in this time of crises. 

Not just with the Covid19 scenes but even in our lives personally I’m sure all of us are waiting so let me not just speak life into your lives but even to mine as I echo Davids words in Psalm 27:14, Wait for the Lord ! Be strong and let your heart take courage! Yes, wait for the Lord

 So it comes down to what is your statement of faith today? Cling onto what God is talking to you and speak the living-tiqvah into your circumstances.
