Hi! Gonna start off and say that I love the work you're doing with the Welcome Home neocities website! It's perfectly stylized for the project/puppet show and I can see the work you're putting into it.

I'd love to learn how to make my own neocities website (for fun? For a personal project??), so I was wondering if you could provide some tips and/or pointers for a first-timer.

HAHA well first of all i'm flattered that someone would think i'm skilled enough to be giving pointers in the first place. i still consider myself a novice when it comes to web design (for example, if you're wondering why every page on welcome to welcome home has its own CSS, it's because CSS is Way harder for me to wrap my head around than HTML) so i can't give any Super advanced tips, but i can at least write about what's helped me so far:

GUIDES. neocities has its own tutorial and list of HTML/CSS resources, but user-made guides are your best friend when it comes to figuring out where to go from there. a.n. lucas and pauli kohberger both have really good guides for beginners, but for the more advanced stuff, i found myself referencing the resources on solaria's webspace and sadgrl.online the most. w3schools is also very helpful when it comes to answering more specific questions like "how do i use two different fonts on the same page?" (and probably more.) if all else fails, then usually just googling "how to (x) in HTML" or "how to (x) in CSS" will yield at least one useful result. for making your website more accessible, there's the accessible net directory and this masterpost by foxpunk on tumblr.

it sounds obvious, but it helps to have a solid idea of what kind of site you want to build before you actually dive in, and then snoop around on neocities to get an idea of how other users approach the same topic. for example, i got the idea to start a welcome home wiki on neocities after being reminded of the 8:11 wiki on the same site, and then i spent a couple days just looking up stuff like "wiki" or "fansite" on neocities and then clicking on any page that caught my attention to study it.

layouts! there's no shame in using a premade one, and you can even learn more about HTML/CSS in real time just by messing around with the base code before implementing any intentional changes. sadgrl.online's layout builder is a VERY popular choice, since you can already do a lot with the basic options it offers and it's easy to further customize once you have it set up on your page; it's what i used to make welcome to welcome home. sadgrl.online's webmaster links also feature a bunch of other options under the "layouts" tag, and if none of those work for you, then you can even find something just by looking up template/templates/layout/layouts/HTML/CSS on neocities itself.

side note: if you're reading this and you want to make a wiki then you can also use this wikitable code. it came out after i had already established the Look of welcome to welcome home, so i probably won't implement it any time soon, but i TOTALLY WOULD HAVE if it was around when i first set the site up.

you can scale images up or down using percentage, with 100% being the image's default size. i don't know how helpful or acceptable that is, but i use it a lot.

don't feel pressured to get everything done at once, even if you expect people to be visiting your site frequently. usually if you just slap on an "under construction" gif or even just write "hey this site is still under construction" then people will understand. i don't think i've ever seen anyone get super huffy about slow updates on neocities, anyway.

EDIT: OH. GRAPHICS. i mention all of these on welcome to welcome home's front page but i Also wanted to note them here: betty's graphics and websets by lynn both have HUGE collections of background tiles and other graphics that work especially well if you're going for that old web charm. i also like to use this mirror of patterncooler for backgrounds bc of the customization options. you can also make your own background tile and then use a seamless tile maker like this if all else fails.

EDIT 2: ALSO. obviously. do not be like me and use discord or any other chat client as a filehost, no matter how promising it looks, because one day you WILL get a very nasty surprise when the request signature on those urls expire and the images are no longer accessible on other sites. there are a myriad of other filehosts out there, but personally i recommend file garden (and also donating to file garden if you can, even if only for a couple months. i know i said that just yesterday, but if it gets more folks to subscribe then i'm gonna keep saying it.)

Ninjago headcanons. A couple years ago I posted a bunch of headcanons on Pinterest, so I decided to copy all the ones I could find over to Tumblr. So these are all mine, you may notice quite a few are about Zane, that's because I was a major Zane fan. I may reblog this with my more recent ones later. Hope you like them!

Lloyd is constantly finding stray cats and dogs and the little kid in him falls in love and he constantly brings them home and begs Wu to let him keep them. Wu always says no, but Lloyd secretly feeds them, and the Ninja find out and help him.

Jay and Zane have a lot of inside jokes. All the ninja have inside jokes with Zane bc Zane sees everything and makes everyone feel good about themselves so when Jay falls in the parking lot and Zane sees, it becomes a joke between the two of them and Zane will never tell anyone that Jay fell in the parking lot bc he is hecka loyal.

Zane is one of those people who are inzanely (did you see what I did there?) good at telling stories and reading books aloud, so he sometimes reads books to the ninja, and Lloyd loves it and it takes him back to when he was a kid and on nights when Lloyd can't sleep he'll go wake up Zane and Zane will tell him stories until he falls asleep. And some of the ninja complain about Zane reading to them bc they can't play video games while he does, but they all secretly love it.

Lloyd and Zane are super close.

Lloyd really doesn't like pictures of himself, so he avoided family pictures whenever he could, but he managed to get that one with just his dad and him, and he didn't really like it until his dad was banished and then he wished he had more pictures of the two of them.

Lloyd talks to himself when he's alone and once Zane was in the next room, and Cole overheard Lloyd talking to himself so Cole asked him about it and Zane covered for him saying that Lloyd was talking to him.

When Lloyd was still a kid, he would wake up in the middle of the night and wake Kai up and they’d go out onto the deck of the bounty and just talk, sometimes read a comic together. Then when Lloyd would fall asleep, Kai would put him back in bed.

Zane has perfected his cooking and can look at a picture of food or read the name of a dish and make it. If one of the other ninja follows the recipe and Zane doesn't, Zane's will still taste better.

Zane is always the butt of the jokes and the straight man bc he always falls for it.

Zane always covers for everyone. Jay breaks a vase while dancing? Zane will fix it/buy a new one/or say he broke it. Kai breaks the TV after losing a game? Zane will fix it or say he broke it. Sometimes people are sure he didn't do it, but he won't say who did.

Zane is the cool parent figure, Cole is the protective but responsible oldest sibling, and Kai, Jay, Nya, and Lloyd are the reckless younger siblings.

Lloyd will skateboard at 2am.

Lloyd loves cooking and Zane loves helping him, so Lloyd's like, one hobby is cooking and is pretty good at it. edit: Lloyd is terrible at it. Loves cooking but can burn anything, might burn down the kitchen while he's at it. But he's really good with spices, and always knows the right combination and amount.

Zane drinks whatever. He'll be busy will something and ask one of the others to bring him a drink and they bring him whatever they want. Once, Kai wanted to see how Zane would react to alcohol so he brought Zane vodka (don't ask me why they had it) and Zane just drank a lot of it and moved on so they always test him with random things: soda with hot sauce in it, bourbon, fruit punch, whatever. They even take turns choosing what to give him.

Zane never gets mad at ANYONE. Not even Wu when they find out he was hiding something again. He is easy to talk to, so when one of the ninja messes up something of his, it's easy for them to apologize and he always talks them through whatever they're going through.

Lloyd watches Zane cook and so Zane offers to help him learn so now they cook together and for Lloyd's birthday Zane gets him a purple apron.

hi anon, welcome to lyonblr!! i've been on tumblr since 2014 but became a lyon and got into lyonblr in 2021; back then, lyonblr was rly rly tiny and thus super easy to navigate, ooo have gotten quite a bit more popular since then, but i'll be honest, lyonblr is still one of the smallest tumblr communities ive interacted with (i like to joke that me and my few lyon mutuals already make up like half of lyonblr), so i think you'll be able to get the hang of things quite soon!

if you're looking for ooo content, of course the #onlyoneof tag is a great place to look. @lyonet is a network blog i'm currently the admin of that reblogs visual content (e.g. gifs, edits, art), so that's also a place to find both content and lyon content creators. a few of my fave creators are @kyubins @hongseasons @sehnisweet @winxys! and of course a post abt lyonblr is not complete w/o fiona @iridescentspacewhale, my absolute bestie in lyonblr and beyond <33

one thing w lyonblr is bc it's small and not very active (except during comeback season), most lyons on here don't post solely abt ooo, so a lot of lyon blogs you'll find are 'multifandom' (as dated and silly as i find that term), so don't be surprised if you can't find many ooo only blogs, since v few of them exist to begin with

as a whole, we're pretty chill here, i feel like lyons in general are more chill than a lot of kpop fandoms, and lyons on tumblr are even more chill than on twt (in part bc there's so relatively few of us)

as for getting used to tumblr as a whole, i think it's definitely one of those things where the more you use it, the more you'll get the hang of it. but ofc there are a few pointers:

definitely dont be afraid to reblog things, you mightve seen posts abt it already but on tumblr, likes don't really do much, and there's no algorithm, so the only way people see posts is if they look in the tags or if someone they follow reblogs the post

a lot of times, when people want to comment about a post, they will write the comment in the tags such as to not clutter up the post and make a reblog chain that has like 15 comments in reblogs attached to the original post. when you reblog a post, what you write in the tags will essentially be only seen by those who follow you as well as op of the post, so they've become a good way to comment when you don't have a particularly important comment that u want Everyone To See

this goes for all social media, but dont be afraid to block people who are being assholes or annoying etc etc, curate your experience

if you use tumblr on desktop, definitely consider getting the x-kit rewritten extension, it has a bunch of tweaks that makes tumblr ui more user-friendly and useful

These are my hcs for the og teachers, if you want to see the ones I have for my human AU too let me know :)

general hc for all of them: all of them dislike kids, except for Steak, and some of them suck at interacting with them.

Paige/Sketchbook:

-Their voice sounds a bit uninterested and annoyed in the first episode and I think they genuinely were.

-Got scared when things got weird. They weren't expecting all of that to happen.

-They're friends with almost all of the other teachers. They get along the best with Tony. They're a bit scared of Steak tho.

-They actually don't know shit about art, they just pretend to know💫

-They love to annoy Tony, they find it funny when he gets mad at them.

-They draw on themselves.

-They don't like using their legs most of the time, but they can. As seen in episode 6 they're just little black sticks like their arms.

Shrignold:

-More of a general hc but he worships the Malcom statue as a representation of the actual Malcom. Malcom is actually something among the lines of a God so he can't be seen or touched in reality.

-He has internalized homophobia, but he's gay himself. He just wouldn't act on it, it's against his beliefs.

-He's actually really good with kids. Thats how he got Yellow's "Special One" to join his cult.

-Doesn't mean he likes them, but he's an amazing manipulator.

-He will preach to anyone and I mean ANYONE, I do think he genuinely convinced Paige and Tony to join him by just talking with them.

-He's not aware of some of the creepy members of his cult (furry boy I'm looking at you) but he doesn't care either.

Tony:

-I actually posted a doodle of this but he hangs himself on the wall and behaves like an actual inanimate clock when he's mad at someone 💫

-That someone is Paige 80% of the time bc theyre annoying

-ANGER ISSUES

-Autistic!!

-He has no patience, asking him a question is like asking your dad to teach you math. He will yell, slam his hands against the table, get frustrated a hundred times and then he will apologize only if he feels like it.

-Not a good teacher at all, but he's good at keeping normal conversations. Just don't ask him any deep questions.

-The others don't understand him. Everyone considers him hard to deal with because of his short temper. He gets along the best with Paige and Colin.

Colin:

-Also autistic bc how could he not be

-Actually knows the darkest parts of the "digital world"/internet but just like in a common computer you won't get easy access to those.

-He was Roy's computer! He's a fairly old computer, Roy stopped using him when he became glitchy and only brought him back for the show.

-Is super slow most of the time, using him as an actual computer is frustrating.

-Yellow can use him to play old computer games tho, and he will if given a chance.

-Gets mad at Red preferring Laptop because Laptop is not glitchy, it makes him feel replaced and frustrated.

-Scared of bugs, no joke intended

Steak/Lamp chop:

-Literal BBQ dad

-The other teachers find him intimidating bc bro is huge.

-Spinach Can and Bread Boy are like his kids! And Fridge is always by his side, nobody knows if they're in love or just buddies.

-He doesn't speak to any of the other teachers or the main trio most of the time, he's happy with the healthy gang and feels like he doesn't need more than them.

-Spinach really looks up to him, they never leave his side. Steak will carry them everywhere and tell them bad jokes.

-Yellow wants to be picked up by him all the time, he doesn't find him scary, he just saw he's tall and now he wants up.

Larry/Lamp:

-Man was DRUNK while he was singing about dreams.

-Can't form coherent thoughts, ever.

-Shrignold loves to be around him bc he always listens. Truth is he's always kind of lost inside his own brain so that makes him a good listener.

-He's really strong physically but he's not aware of it, Yellow was really hurt when he grabbed him by the arm.

-He will fall asleep anywhere and anytime. He doesn't even care.

-He uses Colin as Google by asking him lots and lots of questions.

-No one can stand to be around him when he gets philosophical. And I mean no one. Not even Yellow. His philosophical questions don't even make any sense.

Bonus main trio hcs:

-Yellow is autistic and has ADHD :)

-He loves to be picked up!

-ofc he's a puppet but I hc him to be somewhere between 4 and 8 instead of being 48😃 bc... [SPOILER AHEAD] no way he went from being 38 to being 48 the same day on wakey wakey.

-Red is also autistic.

-He learned Yellow will stop crying if he carries him. So he does.

-Sometimes he'll sleep on his bed with him too if that means he can help him sleep better.

-Duck reads bedtime stories for Yellow.

-If he's talking too much Red will pick him up by the scruff of his neck as a kitten as a sweet and silent way of telling him to please please please shut up.

-He has a short temper, just like Tony.

Most prized possession: A special sample box with her favourite findings on journeys, which include random bones, mushrooms, lichens, bugs, candlesticks, glass jars, random rocks, or whatever other junk she thinks is neat

Deepest desire: To make friends who also think her collection is neat.

Guilty pleasure: Making nasty and weird poisons out of the stuff she finds

Best-kept secret: Rhuna is incapable of intentionally keeping a secret, so her best kept ones are just really badly kept. At this point that's probably her nefarious plot to prank Wyll by filling his tent with glow bugs because he seemed Sad (would he find this helpful? Who can say. Are some of the party very much going to notice her doing this? Certainly.)

Rhuna doesn't have many memories of life within the Duergar community, or with her biological family. She spent a large portion of her life with a group a druids who were mostly comprised of Deep Gnomes. They tended to travel between different warrens in the Underdark every seven years or so, and the journey was often perilous and could take months at a time. When they arrived at a new warren, they would begin to establish colonies of different flora, and then when it was well established, they would leave it to grow wild free of cultivation. It was also customary for their deceased to be used to start new fungal colonies.

As for folks to tag, I don't have the gumption right now (though I'd tag my sister so y'all could learn more about Zilvra if she were on tumblr.) However, if you want to jump in on this, please do! I love a good character read, and this one is fun!

this is a personal af question that you do not need to answer publicly or at all esp. bc its for fanficish writing purposes but anyway so like how DO you, personally at least, deal with episodes of psychosis? because google tells me that the go to needs to be antipsychotics but 1. the context is a character who does not have regular access to them anyway 2. every one i have looked at has GOD AWFUL PERMANENT SIDE EFFECTS that seem to be almost guaranteed to happen? and my doctor oc would not subject that to anybody. the usual psychosis symptoms i write in my current rps are post-ictal and postpartum psychosis specifically because getting information about that from people who actually HAVE THE CONDITIONS is easy, and there seem to be other methods of dealing with them without antipsychotics (plus, you know, magic dnd for one, and pokemon psychic bs for the other) but finding information on how people with other forms of psychosis (in this case, schizotypal ftr) deal with it from their own perspective is almost impossible? it's ALL ableist bullshit from doctors which is why i am hesitant to trust the idea of "antipsychotics are the only way" :/ even reddit is not helpful here lol and i want to get this right? i know it's just tumblr rp/ao3 fanfic/discord rp that nobody important will read but me and my friends are trying to NOT be ableist shitbags on purpose you know?

Boy I really just don't answer tough asks over the winter months, huh.

I started keeping a closer eye on how media that I otherwise recommend depicts psychosis since getting this ask, and I'm disappointed to announce that over the last two months only two (2) pieces of media have been Normal About Psychosis.

So, the first thing to remember when writing a Psycho is: WE ARE WHOLE ASS ADULTS WITH ADULT BRAINS OKAY, we're not small children lost in a fantasy. We're not violent monsters out for blood. We are people who sometimes see, hear, etc things that aren't really there.

Writing a psychotic character competently isn't about curing them, or even about reducing their symptoms. It's about showing how they cope with those symptoms while carrying on with their daily lives.

I'm currently on the lowest possible dose of antipsychotic right now, and I will say two things about that. 1) the meds make reality checks and other coping skills MUCH more effective. 2) Even at a low dose, abstract and creative thinking are hindered. I don't feel hindered; but I have a 24 year long writing portfolio that says I sure as shit am hindered.

Whether a character will benefit from going on meds is going to be a balancing act. But since you aren't actually looking for meds advice, lets talk about those Other Coping Skills.

Broadly, I would split my skills into three categories: stuff for hallucinations, stuff for delusions, and stuff for dissociation.

So, first off, reality checking is my #1 go to for hallucinations.

You pick this skill up pretty quickly as a kid; everyone does. The difference being that where a non-psychotic person eventually gets to stop relying on others to tell them what is real, we get to keep on asking forever.

It's actually super exhausting to be in a crowded space because most of the nonverbal cues you come to rely on (eg, no one else flinched so that noise probably wasn't real) become INSTANTLY useless. Every noise, movement etc may of may not be real, and your only option is to either gauge other people's lack of reaction, or ask someone you trust for a reality check.

Sounds like an easy way for an abusive shit to control your entire life with no effort? It is!!

THAT'S WHY PSYCHOTIC PEOPLE ARE WAY MORE LIKELY TO BE ABUSED THAN THE GENERAL POPULATION.

Once you know if something is real or not, you can decide to ignore it. Like ignoring anything obtrusive, this is easier if you are in a good mood, physically comfortable, etc. An absurd amount of "coping with psychosis" is just constantly monitoring yourself and others to make sure you are reacting to the right things at the right volume.

Ignoring something that your brain insists is real and a threat is very tiring, so there's also a lot of sleeping.

Delusions are significantly harder to manage than hallucinations, IMO. Not just because, as a multiply marginalized person there are myriad ways that an ambiguous "them" is actually trying to ruin my life for real. Being on terror watchlists due to racism REALLY makes it IMPOSSIBLE to manage my paranoid delusions because some of the more insane shit is just real.

But there are other delusions that are easier to handle. Mostly, this comes down to self monitoring again. I can take an extra second to ask myself, "hang on, statistically speaking, how likely is it that this total stranger ACTUALLY wants to kill me?" The answer, of course, is "violent crime has been trending down for years, and everyone in this area thinks I'm white as long as I don't go outside during the summer, so I'm safe."

It's all about finding the information that helps keep you calm.

Because the absolute certainty that this is a murderer and you are walking into the slaughter will not go away. You just... take it on faith that this time will turn out as safely as the last 399 times.

It's just a shitload of observation, mimicry, and forcing myself to do things that feel dangerous by reminding myself that they aren't.

That shit sounds simple, but it's a CONSTANT fight; it never really gets easier, you just get used to it.

Which brings me back around to my meds again: I think I prefer it this way. My writing sucks, and I keep crying when I read it because it's wrong, it sounds like a field amputation. But god, I went to a cafe during the morning rush a few days ago, and the overload of noise and data only left me bedridden for ONE day. ONE!!! Not a WEEK!

Maybe losing my only art is okay in light of how much less bad things are.

Anyway, I can't remember the name of the 2014 short story about the One Person With Psychosis being wrongfully shunned by her colony because she doesn't feel affective empathy, in spite of her constant and perfectly reasoned moral code ensuring she is, if anything, the least dangerous person in town. I wish I could remember it!! It's a good example!!!

I haven't read it yet, but people I love and trust seem to generally agree that the psychosis in Harrow the Ninth is well written, too, so maybe check that out IDK

Ok, so I started here and only post here. I tried ao3 but am having a hard time getting everything over there, it's not as user friendly....to me anyway lol

I started off by making my masterlist, it has all the general info about what I write, who I write for, 18+ and all that and I make sure to keep that pinned to the top, so basically when you make the post there's an option to pin post, just hit that and it will keep it at the top of your blog.....makes it super easy for your readers to find 😁😁

Now let's say you write a one shot, you post it and then copy the link....then go to your mastelist post, put the title in and then highlight it and hit the chain link icon on the end, then paste the link and ta-daa!! Now with series or multichapters its the same basic steps, just a little different.

I make a mastelist for each series, so I use a pic/gif/moodboard as the photo along with the title, warnings/Summary and all that. Then I scroll down and put part one/part two etc depending on the amount of parts, and as you write each part paste the link to each one. And then I copy the link to the individual masterlist, go back to my main mastelist type the title and paste the link so that way when your readers tap on the title it goes directly to all parts of that story.

All he wanted to do right now is go to the botanical garden and-

Hm. He's got a little issue. Idia's little sprout brother stood between him and the botanical garden doors and, by the looks of it, Ortho wouldn't let him pass by so easily.

"Aha! There you are, Leona Kingscholar!" Ortho hovered over to him, displaying a rather cheerful expression, "Niisan has given me a request to go find you, so here I am! Will you spare us a moment of your time? I promise it'll be worth your while!"

Leona didn't want to go and see what Idia was up to, but if it was for that yule thing he probably had to, "Why does he want to see me?"

"He wants to show you a super cool mount he made to make Yuletide a little easier for you two to navigate."

"Alright, fine." Leona stepped aside for the little guy to show the way, "Lead us there."

"Roger!"

Leona followed Ortho for a long while, leaving the botanical garden and his morning plans far behind him. They walked past the school and several dozen trees, finally arriving at some discreet clearing far away from campus. A rather large sleigh sat in the middle of the clearing, filled to the brim with a generous amount of gifts and a single radish sprout.

"Oi, radish sprout." Shouted Leona as he walked closer, the sleigh seemed surprisingly new, "What's all this about?"

"O-Oh Leona..!" Idia fumbled with his tablet for a brief moment before holding it in front of him, letting the device do all the talking, "Fuhihihi! Welcome, my trusty reindeer, to the most exciting event of your week! Do you like my sleigh?"

"It's… nice. I don't have to pull it around, do I?"

"Sevens, no! We're not going to do something so cringe! We're in the future, Leona, we have no need to use such a slow method of transport. Instead, I got us a mount that…" Idia pointed dramatically into the air, "Can fly!"

"Fly? Really?" Leona leaned against the sleigh, "You made a sleigh that could fly in two days?"

"It's easy to do, I just didn't sleep. Ezpz." Idia seemed pretty smug about his terrible sleep schedule, "Anyway, do you know how to properly drive a flying car? It's easy if you don't know, I can teach you the basics in under an hour."

Unexpectedly, driving around in a flying car with Idia and Ortho is… fun. Well, fun enough. Leona got free rein, so he could fly anywhere on campus that he wanted, but he had to listen to Idia talk about fifty different video games. The only thing they've done together game-wise is chess! Not videogames, chess! It's rare to see Idia so animated, though, so… whatever. He could listen to more nerd facts as he drove around if it meant that Idia wouldn't freeze in fear at every little thing.

"- and so, that's how you can get a total of ten cupcakes during your ACNH birthday party." Explained Idia as he shuffled through his bag, gripping his tablet in one hand and pulling out a bundle of crumpled paper with the other, "Anyway, you drive fine now, so we can get on to the main event."

"The main event wasn't me doing a couple loops with this car?" Questioned Leona as they passed by the top bit of NRC for the sixth time that afternoon, "I thought that was thrilling."

"We almost lost a couple presents!" Exclaimed Idia, smacking Leona lightly with his tablet, "And that stunt wasn't it! We need to test this sleigh and deliver a few gifts."

"Why?"

"I want to see if we can go no contact and just drop gifts on people, that's why I have Ortho in the back." Idia flipped through a couple of the pages in his hand, "You probably shouldn't run over anyone, but I encourage scaring people to death by nearly running them over. Particularly Azul, he beat me in Monopoly last week through dirty tactics-"

Yep. Nothing like walking through the snow miserably. Against all odds, Ruggie found himself running late. Not that late, but still, pretty late. His class went on past the bell, the line at Sam's store took forever, and now the hyena found himself crunching through the snow with Jack. He met up with the guy on his way out of the store but… still. It feels a little awkward that he's making Jack lug around all the laundry stuff he bought earlier. Jack was super willing and everything, but still. The help is appreciated at least.

"So…" Starts Jack, perhaps uncomfortable with the silence between them, "Have you heard what has been happening today?"

"Are you talking about the murder sleigh?" Questioned Ruggie, "Yeah, it would be pretty hard to miss the gossip floating around the halls about the mysterious flying vehicle that nearly mowed down a couple students today."

"Yeah, that sleigh." Jack keeps on trudging ok through the snow, "It didn't kill anyone yet, but it tended to target students who were alone in open spaces."

"... Yeah?"

"And we're alone… in an open space. We won't get run over next, will we?"

"Huh." Ruggie hadn't thought about that before, but they sure are walking in an open space with nobody else around, "Probably not. What's the chances that the crazy murder sleigh would want to-"

"Wait." Jack paused with a small twitch of his ears, "Do you hear something?"

Ruggie stopped in his own tracks, trying to catch on to the mysterious sound Jack was referring to. He could certainly hear something… it's faint, like the jingle of bells and the clunking of several… boxes? He wasn't sure. It was nearly impossible to hear the bells over the crunching of snow and their idle chatter, he's surprised Jack hear the noise at all. Still, why does it sound like that bell jingle is getting louder by the second?

"Where is that sound coming-?" Ruggie turned to look behind him, coming face to face with a sleigh in the sky that's coming straight at them, "Jack! The sleigh! It's coming for us!"

"What?!" Jack hauled the bags he held over his shoulder as he started running for it, "We have to go, Ruggie! Run-!"

"Don't run!" Yelled something from the sleigh that's hurling itself towards them, "Duck! Get down!"

Jack and Ruggie were on the ground in seconds, holding their breath as the sleigh sped on by over their heads. Part of him swore that he saw the vehicle graze the top fluff off of Jack's ears, it went way too close to them!

"Great seven…" Ruggie cursed as he slowly lifted himself up from the snow, "Are you good, dude?"

"I- Yeah." Jack's gaze seemed to follow the retreating sleigh that flew off into the evening sky, "Are you good?"

"Well, I'm certainly not roadkill." Ruggie spun around briefly, looking at their surroundings, "The stuff I bought isn't crushed or anything but- hey!" Ruggie pointed towards two neatly placed present boxes that had somehow appeared behind them, "Look! Did the sleigh drop these?"

"Maybe?" Jack carefully approached the gifts, grabbing one and flipping it around, "There's a tag here, this one says 'For Jack, from the green one and his reindeer'. Wait, it's for me?!"

"Does that mean the other one is for me?!" Ruggie quickly picked up the other box and grabbed the tag, it had his name on it, "Dude! It is for me!"

"Should we open them..?"

"Why not? It's not like the sleigh is coming back for them."

Jack merely nodded in agreement before tearing open his present, "No way! Succulent crochet for beginners, I was looking up this book last night!"

Oh boy, Ruggie was looking up different types of laundry detergent last night. He really, really hoped he wasn't about to get laundry detergent. Maybe he should save this thing to open later-

"What did you get?" Questioned Jack, eyes brimming with curiosity.

Well, no avoiding it now. Ruggie carefully undid the neat ribbon before tearing apart the wrapping paper, revealing… four dozen doughnuts? Oh yeah, the other thing he was looking up last night, how to easily make four dozen doughnuts while hungry. He never managed to accomplish that, mainly because the BOOgle results sucked, but now he got what he wanted with zero effort. Ruggie popped open one of the doughnuts, expecting to get some plain ones, but what greeted him instead were twelve doughnuts that seemed to be individually decorated to look like spotted hyenas. That's… really cute, actually.

Jack leaned over his shoulder to look at his newly acquired doughnut haul, pointing at one of the various hyena doughnuts, "Hey, Ruggie, that one looks like you!"

"Did you see their faces?!" Idia seemed close to tears besides him, face adorned with a huge grin, "Gold! They're expressions are almost as good as Azul's look of pure panic!"

"I got a pretty good shot of their faces!" Exclaims Ortho with his camera, "We can print you a copy if you want, Leona."

"Sure, why not." Leona couldn't help but smile as he saw the Shroud brothers do a fist bump, "Who are we scaring to death next?"

"They were the last people we had on our test run list, actually." Idia leaned back in his seat, "Can you land us near the botanical garden? You'll be free of your reindeer duties for the day afterwards."

"Oh. Yeah, sure." Part of Leona had hoped that this would last longer, for he's having a better time than expected with the Shroud brothers, but he shouldn't be selfish, "You don't want to land where we started?"

"Nah, too far, the botanical garden is closer." Idia grabbed his discarded tablet and held it up to his face, letting the device do the rest of the talking, "We can take the long scenic route to the field if you want to spend more time with me!"

"Hah, you wish."

Idia huffed behind his tablet as it continued to rattle out words, "You'd definitely fail if you were in an otome."

"Good thing I'm not in one then, yeah?" Leona landed the sleigh with ease outside of the botanical garden, "Here we are, radish sprout. Anything else you two need before I get goin'?"

Idia lowered his tablet to speak with his own mouth once more, "Yeah, I've got one more thing." Idia motioned towards Ortho with his hand, "You still got it?"

"Yep!" Ortho produced a present, dropping it onto Leona's lap, "Happy Yuletide, Leona!"

"Happy Yuletide, Leona. I had to get my trusty reindeer a little something so… tada. Take it with you as you get off, ok? No throwing it away!"

"Alright, alright." Leona carefully held the gift as he got off of the sleigh, "Are we still goin' to have our chess rematch this weekend?"

"Oh defs. " Idia did a little finger gun as he slid on over to the seat Leona once occupied, "This Yuletide job of ours won't stop me from kicking your ass." He quickly left after saying those words, guiding the sleigh off into the sky.

Right. What did Idia get him anyway? Leona tore open the wrapping paper, revealing a rather soft pillow with a nice silk pillowcase folded to the side. This is nice, it could probably replace his usual nap pillow as well…

Hal might not be as emotionally complex as a villain like Frollo but his characterization is still VERY accurate to how a lot of people grow up to be like in modern days, especially online where they can hide their face. I always find these ficto representations to irl behaviors very interesting (other examples that catch my interest being: Ming Lee from Turning Red; The Riddler from the most recent Batman movie; Goldilocks from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish...)

(( Of course, it's always nice to receive asks about my muses, especially ones regarding their character, etc.! As for the scenario, I find the premise interesting and would like/wouldn't mind RPing that! He's 28, though (cause that's what they said in movie), so I'm not sure how easy mindsets would change at his age, especially for a seemingly stubborn and immature-esque character like him. It wouldn't be like Frollo's case where he's been close-minded for so long, but I feel that it would take a lot of time and effort on his part to change... and if he wants to :0 (also I agree with you, his actions to Roxanne & behavior in general is inexcusable; i just feel like you do that you can have a 'what-if' to characters and write/see them more than canon can provide...)

Fun fact: I actually have a verse (sort of) that when Hal gets his super powers and becomes Titan/Tighten, he tries to woo over Roxanne (like in the movie) but finds that it didn't work so he just kind of... moves on/tries to better himself after seeing "Benard" and Roxanne together and ends up being a good guy/hero! (It's still a work in progress and I'm trying to figure out how it'd align w/his character but still!) Basic premise is that he turns good/is a superhero rather than turning into a supervillain...

I also enjoy seeing real-life scenarios in characters and seeing them be really well-written... It really does make you think of them as real people (or relating anyway) and you give some wonderful examples!

hello! i want to start making gifs, but i don't really know where to start. what are some programs you use and any tips?

hello hello ! ah amazing we can always use more content creators <3 i'll try to point you in the right direction to get started ! under the cut bc it's long:

⏤ my first app recommendation is 4k video downloader which will let you download videos in their highest quality from youtube. i recommend starting with content like music videos as they are usually available in 1080p (the minimum high quality you want - anything less and it can be really tough to get your gifs looking smooth) and up to 4k (pretty much the best quality you'll get), and it's easy to pick out shots you like to start messing around.

⏤ when i was first learning to gif, the only other app i used was photoshop. i started with a free trial to see if i would get the hang of it and now i pay for a monthly adobe subscription, but there are definitely cracked versions out there for download - you just have to find them (check the links at the bottom of this post) 👀 i honestly don't remember what tutorial specifically i followed to get the steps down, but here is one and here is another i found with a quick search that i think are good for a beginner. if those don't work for you, you can google "how to make gifs in photoshop" and you'll be able to find a ton and choose one that suits your learning style (i prefer written step-by-step, but if videos are easier for you, there are a lot of choices out there).

⏤ as far as coloring goes, it'll take time to figure out using adjustment layers and your own style. i really like this tutorial on how selective color works and remember using it when i was first starting. that same blog has a lot of other giffing resources you can look through, too: all ps tutorials

⏤ once i had the hang of just using ps, i learned how to use vapoursynth which is a python script program that will help you resize your gifs and keep them looping smoothly. it also can denoise and sharpen your gifs if you want. the reason i don't recommend starting with it is because i think it looks overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's simple to use and makes a big difference especially when it comes to cropping. ultimately it's totally up to you if you want to try and learn it all up front or not. this guide has all the information you'll need to install it depending on operating system, and also has guides for how to use it. it is MUCH harder to set up on a mac than windows, especially new macs, just fyi. if you are planning to gif ts files (for stage performance sets) you will need vapoursynth imo, but otherwise it's not at all a necessity, just a recommendation. i also used this tutorial to help me learn to use it.

general tumblr tips i wish i knew starting out:

⏤ the appropriate sizing for gifs on tumblr is as follows: your width should be 540px for one gif in a row, 268-268px for 2 gifs in a row, and 177-178-177px for a row of 3 (middle has to be 178 or it'll be blurry. i have no idea why. this site is insane). your length can be whatever you want but certain things just look better & if you aren't resizing in VS, then you're at the mercy of your videos dimensions when it comes to cropping them down.

⏤ the mb limit for gifs is 10 but if you're using beta post editor it's actually 9.5, and tumblr will compress the heck out of your gifs that are larger than 5mb, so just keep that in mind, i recommend only make bigger gifs with SUPER high quality videos.

i'm having a rlly hard time in my life. i just graduated uni and i'm starting a new job that i dont love and pays terrible and i'm flat broke and can't pay rent, but i have my eras tour date coming up soon, and it was one of the few things i was really looking forward to bc taylor has always been there for me thru the hardest parts of my life, but my enthusiasm is somewhat dampened by what's going on with YB and musty and all that, and it's making me really sad. i just want her to leave him!! also why didnt joe just f---ing propose!!! coward!!!! yeah... do you have any advice madie :( sorry for the heavy ask

hi anon ❤️ first of all, please don't apologize for sending me this ask because it means a lot to me that you feel comfortable sharing these feelings and emotions with me (and i want you to! because i want to be here for you!)

second of all, graduating is such a tumultuous time in any person's life and you're so valid in feeling this way. i think it's really important to recognize that any change in a person's life is never going to be easy, but it's about how we're able to react to those changes that makes it meaningful. i don't have any great big pieces of advice for how to deal with those changes besides knowing that you're going through so much change and your emotions about these changes are so valid and i'm always here to listen if you need to talk to someone. do you think it would be helpful if you tried to find a new job? like obviously start your current job and then while you're at that job, maybe look into better-paying jobs if possible!!

third thing about eras tour, again it's completely valid to feel this way and i completely empathize with you on feeling like your enthusiasm is dampened because of what's happening. for this, i've been actually pulling away and listening to a lot of less of her music. when i got to the concert, i found myself being more excited about the whole experience like sharing friendship bracelets and meeting people from tumblr or just straight up dancing to good music vs. seeing her specifically if that makes sense? like finding good and important things that bring you joy during eras tour that don't directly involve her specifically.

1. where did you get your idea for them?

i got the idea for Jude during my Marvel hyper-fixation summer. that was also around the same time i read A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi, i believe? and i just got very frustrated with how bad representation is for muslim women. and i was like...you know what? i'm gonna make my own representation. and it was particularly easy for be inspired for Jude at the time bc it was Ramadan and i was drowning in the muslim vibes, fasting and praying more than usual and all that. i remember it took me a long time to figure out what my muslim superhero's power would be. i don't know how i landed on Alien Blob Friend Who Gives You Super-strength and Endurance. but what i do remember is coming up with Jude's family. she needed to have some sort of family drama (bc which of my muses don't?), but i didn't want to play into the conservative/misogynistic/abusive muslim dad trope. i honestly would have rather DIED than gone with that, so i decided to do the opposite: toxic mom. and i started building from there.

Adonis, like Zoran, was a product of his time. i believe it was 15yo me who started RPing Althea on tumblr and then decided to make a "genderbent" verse for her, and the result was Adonis. @iincantatorum helped me massively with his creation proccess, actually!!! and just like with Zoran, Adonis became his own person. i was in the proccess of doing my SATs and deciding what college i wanted to go to and all that stuff, so my arab dad's expectations (he wanted me to study medicine) bled right into Adonis' character, making him who he is today.

11. what’s something that you don’t get to express with your oc often?

with Jude, I don't really get to express her religious side often. i guess some people may feel that her religious side is expressed well enough bc she's a hijabi, but...that's not really an all-encompassing aspect of religion? i don't get to write Jude much, and when i do, it's usually her superhero side. i don't get to express everyday Jude, trying to find somewhere quiet to pray in uni, trying to tie her hair in several directions at home bc the roots have been locked in one way under her scarf all day. i don't get to write the Jude that talks about her mom or sings arabic songs under her breath while doing the dishes. i don't get to write the Jude that helps her father read an english children's book and playfully insults her brother in passing. i guess i just really want to write domestic Jude.

as for Adonis, i feel like i don't get to express his reliable side much. sure, he's fragile as glass and very emotional and lets people use him as a doormat, but he's actually... like, dude, he's a grown adult man. he's great with his patients at the hospital, he's a lovely and reliable coworker, he can cook and take care of other people. that's the side Pearl brings out in him in verse 2. when he's alone, he doesn't really bother to take care of himself. but when his daughter is there, he has to cook every day and spend time relaxing with her and playing some games and just-- doing things that are good for the soul and taking care of a whole human child. in most threads, Adonis is this helpless man-child that everybody loves bc he's nice and soft and horny, but he's so much more than that

about the delusion thing/song idea -- i only have mild delusions (stuff like thinking i know the date of my own death, something's following me, or there's something growing under my skin, classic stuff like that that's usually reoccuring and manageable to talk myself through logically, even if the feeling of belief doesn't go away), so keep in mind that i can't speak on for everyone, especially people who deal with worse/significantly different delusions than me.

but i don't think the concept of a song about resisting gaslighting on the premise that you know your own reality is inherently bad to people with delusions. abusers and gaslighters do try to incorrectly convince people that they have mental disorders like delusions. i think you'd just have to be careful how you wrote -- that having delusions/being delusional isn't inherently a bad thing -- but having someone in your life project that onto and try to force it to fit is.

i know not everyone feels the same way, but i still feel a sense of agency with delusions -- not in having them or what they are -- but in having learned/figured out ones that are common for me and ways to sort of, reground my reality based on observable facts even when they don't match what i believe. it's a hard line to walk, like the, do i trust my own mind thing when your mind sometimes lies, and i really appreciate that you want to take that into account/be aware of. maybe read a little about experiences and write your song and see if you can run it by some people, because i do think it's a good and important message. people who get to or find ways to dictate our realities to us have a lot of power and that can be really dangerous

Yeah this is mostly the bit I’m worried about, I don’t want the hook being “I’m not delusional” to make it sound like I’m saying “I’m not one of THOSE people” or whatever. I chose the strength of the word (“delusional” as opposed to like, “incorrect”) bc of the degree to which I’ve felt undermined in my life, as if everything I believe in & stand for is impossible. Not silly or stupid (which would imply the “inherently bad” connotation) but fully false and impossible.

Tbh that does give me some ideas about where to go with the rest of the lyrics, in a way that makes it more clear that what I’m saying isn’t just flippantly using a buzzword. I think that’s what’ll make the difference

Thank you for telling me about your experiences, I will def keep that in mind as well as look into other resources about it. That’s one good thing about tumblr is it’s easy to find people whose lived experiences are these things, as opposed to just random articles on google written by “experts” who’ve only ever seen it from the outside

(also im ASSUMING u mean like. a modern day au. like they live in our world. sorry if that's not the case)

aderyn: fashion vlogger. he'd be so annoying too bc the thing is his goal is to show ppl how to dress for their body type but also their level of comfort w/exposure, the weather, the occasion; like he wants ppl to rly think about what they're putting into a fit instead of just following trends. also he's constantly following keldan around like "let me give you a makeover next time ur in town" and keldan refuses. obviously. they have ongoing twitter beef about it so there's actually a surprising amount of fandom crossover

keldan: travel vlogger. like he lives out of a van/rv so he'd do periodic van tours, show off where he's staying, what he saw, etc. he always posted the videos like two weeks after he was actually there so no one could predict where he was going next. sometimes he does campsite reviews but they're all super vague like "the views were great! bathrooms were kinda gross if ur not a fan of bugs" and everyone's like "what does that mean. how many bugs were there". his viewership is all ppl who romanticize vanlife but would never actually do it.

melati: cafe reviews. luckily she lives in like... nyc or some other large city so there is no shortage of cafes to visit. she'll do repeat visits to cafes if she likes them or if they're the type to do seasonal specials or change their menu a lot. she's also active on tiktok where she does "what to order at starbucks" and it's those insane drink modifications that no reasonable human being would ever actually order. (except if you did for some ungodly reason actually order them, they'd be pretty fuckin good.)

seia: not actually on youtube. he shows up one day on keldan's channel and it's like... kind of extremely obvious that the two of them are traveling together but it's not like he shows up in every single place they visit (is keldan just not filming him? is he really not there? no one knows) and also the two of them never clarify their relationship (also true to canon) so comments are like "theyre dating for sure" "uh you can't just assume that" "theyre sleeping in the same bed tho?" "maybe seia has his own van" "it's homophobic to imply that they're just friends" "can't we just have rep for non-toxic male friendships?" etc etc. seia screenshots the best ones and sends them to the sky sea gang's discord server.

delwyn: daily vlogger, but it's clickbait-y shit like "i almost died doing parkour today" and then u watch it and he actually DID almost die and ur like. how did yt allow this to be uploaded. luckily he doesn't do any of the cringy prank stuff but he doesn't need to bc he's cringy enough on his own. the secondhand embarrassment is so real but he has a ton of followers anyway bc ppl are like "no way how is this guy still alive". it's like watching a train wreck or seeing a car crash. you just HAVE to find out more

chan: chan would have a cooking channel. he'd post recipes and tutorials and stuff and would have a long-running series where he invites other big-name youtubers and tries to teach them how to cook, except theyre always atrociously bad at it and it's funny. 90% of the ppl subbed to him don't cook, don't know how to cook, have never and will never try any of his recipes (even tho he'd make it SOOO easy for beginners) they literally just think he's funny and like to listen to his jokes. there's a small minority of ppl who do try his recipes and post rave reviews on their tumblr blogs about him. he never sees them bc he doesn't use tumblr

junhee: junhee would inexplicably have one of those asmr craft channels. i like to think he's really dedicated to those paper theaters (exhibit a, exhibit b) so most of his content is making those (he does a lot from scratch, zero pattern/template etc, but he also does requests for pokemon cards and stuff like that as well as theme requests. if someone requests like a ghibli movie or maybe a minecraft inspired one he'll take that into account. he's got a whole list he's working through). but he also sometimes does mini diorama stuff (exhibit a, exhibit b). those are extremely rare uploads bc theyre so time and resource intensive but ppl go crazy for them. he's got almost a million subs even tho ppl have never seen his face or heard his voice. he rarely even replies to comments. it's literally like he just logs in to upload a video and leaves again. no one's gonna say he's their fave youtuber or anything but no one hates him that's for sure

sasha: sasha would be a daily vlogger. just like here's my life etc. except they still work in a hospital/medical care so the vlogs are supremely censored bc of hipaa and other privacy policies and also bc some of the stuff they do on the daily is actually gross and would get taken off youtube. they have like max 6k subs but those 6k subs are dedicated. they love sasha's content and are like genuinely invested even tho sasha's extremely vague all the time

hana: hana would literally be one of those tech review vloggers. she gets free stuff and sponsorships etc from cutting edge companies and startups. microsoft sends her care packages. she has like a billion subs. it's like 63% male viewership so she says it's only bc they think she's mildly attractive but all the comments sections are ppl genuinely interested in her reviews and opinions. healthiest yt comment section on the planet no joke

kei: SUPER into astrology. she posts videos like "how to interpret your daily horoscope" and "what mercury in retrograde means for YOU". but she's actually more into tiktok where she does vids like "zodiac signs as vines" and "zodiac songs as hit 1999 singles" etc etc. has a cult following that takes everything she says super seriously even tho she herself is like "guys it's not that serious"

other fun trivia:

junhee has a tumblr that's totally untraceable to his yt account. the last time he reblogged a post was in 2016 and he only uses it to find the recipe reviews ppl post about chan's channel.

the tsh main trio have a weird poly thing going on. they're not out about it but junhee's guested on chan's channel ("this is my bf junhee", zero mention of said bf having a yt channel bc that's how junhee prefers it) and there are brief glimpses of delwyn's filming through the apartment where ppl see the kitchen and are like "isn't that....?" somehow delwyn always sees those comments and replies "idk who this chan guy is :/" and no one can tell if he's being serious

in this universe sasha and hana are madly in love because there's no "you literally killed my brother" "well he came back didn't he?" conflict to tear them apart. they're so gross and mushy about it. sasha catches hana in their vlogs, they do unboxing videos together, and every time they kiss or are generally in love on camera ppl post fan edits on twitter like "omg they're so in love" "get you someone who looks at you like hana looks at sasha" etc.

no one knows hana and kei are friends until they both show up in one of sasha's vlogs. the entire internet explodes bc the whole jokey rivalry their fandoms have built up ("theyre so different they wouldn't get along if they knew each other irl") just crumbles.

if seia DID have a youtube channel it would be asmr bullet journal/calligraphy stuff. also stationery-from-aliexpress unboxing videos. but his current lifestyle (driving across the country in a van with his not-boyfriend) doesn't really suit the stationery hoarding thing. so.

keldan finally agrees to let aderyn give him a makeover and then they DON'T FILM IT. keldan films exactly one video with the Look that aderyn puts together for him and then never does it again. everyone is freaking out about it

3) Yes okay thanks for pointing out the crossed out demon on Yu’s intro sheet!! Both of his parents are demons, (mother((Emiriko)) is a water demon, basically demons specifically adapted to living both on water and on land. father((Luka)) is a fire demon, adapted to living in lava and extremely hot places.) so it doesn’t really make sense for him not to be one. Instead, he uses potions (specifically made to not leave a magic scent/residue on the user) To hide his demon appearance, mainly his horns and tail, since its harder to hide those, however said potions do hide the rest of his demon features really well! (fangs, ears((which are normally like small elf ears and tipped in dark gray and black.)), etc.) i could talk all day about my boy, but for now im just gonna leave you with this.

1 - I'M GLAD YOU ENJOYED THE LEONA FIC !! it was also such a blast for me to write >:DD and that's...that's actually really touching :')) i'm kinda surprised that you fell for leona because of my fics and ahh saying that makes it sound unreal again-

but i can understand why some ppl choose to portray leona as someone who's just plain mean and lazy. bc that's exactly how he comes off. even after his overblot, he doesn't quite get the same wake up call that the others got. he didn't get the scolding like riddle, he didn't get the fact that his friends would always be there like azul did, and he most certainly didn't get the same emotional release that jamil. chapter 2's writing isn't the best twst writing out there, so it's easy to dismiss his character as just what he appears as. his flashback does give us some background on why he puts up such a mean and lazy front despite having potential, but well...some creators might prefer for him just to be that. i'm not here to critique them on how they portray him but it does make me kinda :') when i see that ppl don't like leona as much bc of stuff they've read around the fandom or bc they judge him too quick. n e ways enough abt leona we alr know how whipped i am for him-
