another random thought. but i think the fact that the lans are canonically described as wearing “simple white robes” is criminally underrated bc. lots of fanart and even official art doesnt convey that very well. something about the lans, and for someone as high-ranking as hanguang-jun or zewu-jun wearing simple robes instead of extravagant and fancy robes is just something thats very overlooked in this fandom tbh! sure, fancy robes and fancy headpieces and even fancy forhead ribbons look nice in various adaptations and fanart, but the twin jades don’t need all of that to look ethereal anyways <3

(also a reason why the audio drama is just Up There in terms of adaptations bc, those covers by spoonkid portray them… really simply…

ALSO the interior eng. and rus. illustrations by baoshankaro… if you havent seen them yet check it out if you can because all the lans are dressed SOOOOO simply but theyre still absolutely gorgeous and ethereal…! and the fact that other characters are shown to dress extravagantly is just the cherry on top!!)
