🎀 Beginner Ballet dancer update 🎀
Next week I start with two ballet classes a week. I am really excited. I feel out of shape after vacation. Hopefully these classes will help my body recover from traveling and too much holiday food.
This term I want to challenge myself.
• Remember the choreography. Don’t depend on the teacher or other students all the time
• Middle split straddle
• Get comfortable in split with both legs
• See improvement in strength and technique
I wish you much luck on your journey. I send angels to you. Accept any improvement with love.
If I suck during class it is okay. The time will pass anyways. At least I tried and will keep trying.

Starting ballet in my teens diary💌
Why am I starting ballet as a teen?
Why ballet makes sense to me:
I think the guidelines for clothes provides a sense of structure for me. In Sweden we don’t have a dress code or a school uniform, and I also don’t do any sports that require a specific set of clothes . I think that the ballet clothes are cute. I like it. There is some balletcore stuff sprinkled in my pinterest, What can I say?
I’ve always thought ballet looked so beautiful. So beautiful. And for a long time I haven’t allowed myself to do beautiful things because I didn’t think of myself as beautiful. Once I allowed myself to let go of that judgement against myself I feel free and ready to do whatever. Feel beautiful.
The art of ballet is beautiful. Just the opportunity to express myself in a way I haven’t before seems so intriguing. I simply have to try ballet.
I don’t know shit about the actual things you do at ballet classes but I would guess that you develop at least three things.
Flexibility
Strength
Technique
I am actually pretty flexible for a beginner. I can do the split with my left leg forward, not my right leg, but we are all a work in progress. I really don’t mind stretching. And i’m great at self validating myself when I get more flexible.
I would love to get stronger without having to go the gym girl aesthetic road. Some of my class mates do that and I don’t find it pretty. Not to say that they can’t find it pretty. Or that it can’t be, or isn’t regarded pretty by most. I simply find it easier to romanticize a pilè than a squat.
Something I am always unsure about and would like to get more comfortable at is perfecting or trying to perfect my technique in whatever I am doing. I would like to learn as much as I can.
I hope maybe something made sense.
XOXO
