✩ nagi's the type to not really have a crush, so the fact that you caught his interest not only surprises reo but nagi himself.

✩ surprisingly super chill around you. he doesn't try to change his personality because he thinks it's too much work and he wants you to see his true self.

✩ reo would attempt to help him flirt, but in the worst ways possible.

✩ "okay, repeat after me, babe you just gave me asthma cause your beauty just took my breath away."

✩ "but reo i don't have asthma."

✩ "just say the damn line. 😐"

✩ eventually realizes he shouldn't rely on reos tactics and decides to make a move with his own choices. it first starts by sitting next to you during class, his desk right next to yours.

✩ unfortunately he would fail trying to talk to you because he would fall asleep, forcing you to wake him up gently.

✩ this becomes a daily routine for the two of you. nagi sits next to you, tries to make a move, ends up sleeping, and you wake him up. you slowly start to warm up to him and you're actually the first to strike a conversation with him.

✩ nagi is direct when it comes to confessing, but it's so straightforward that it ends up looking indirect.

"thanks again nagi, but you really don't have to do this for me."

it was the third time nagi has bought you your favorite drink from the vending machine this week. the drink felt cold to the touch, its metal casing gleaming against the light of the windows.

nagi once again had his head on his desk, his fingers fiddling with his own lemon tea. "ts really nothing. don't couples always do this anyway ?"

you short circuit. couple ? as in you and nagi ? there's no way. you blink and white haired boy does the same in response. "couple... ?" you ask. suddenly his hands reach for yours and you swear this whole situation is a dream.

"yeah ? i like you and you like me, so that means we're dating right ?"

✩ 100% all bark no bite. he acts so confident when it's just him and his friends but the moment you walk in, he's all red and dead silent.

✩ poor guy gets SO nervous around you 😭 he's scared he'll creep you out but he also has no idea what to say.

✩ luckily he'll get the hang of it and soon enough you guys actually get really close. he treats you amazing once he manages to situate himself.

✩ passive / friendly flirting is the first move he does when he's confident enough. secretive winks, cute compliments, he does it all.

✩ gives you the most romantic gifts but makes it seem so platonic that it gets you thinking.

✩ "hey y/n ! i just saw this and thought you would really like it. you know as your friend i always want the best for you !" hands you a bouquet of roses and expensive chocolate omg he sso romantcisjbw

✩ he's so smooth with it 🙏 all his actions are so polite that you can't help but swoon over him.

reo was just a friend.

this something you have told yourself for the past few days over and over again like a broken record player. you couldn't help but daydream about him and the way he would present himself to you. he was dreamy, but clearly just a friend.

"-ood morning y/n !"

your dozing was cut off by reos hand gently patting your head. you look up to see him, smile on and uniform neatly buttoned up.

you fight back the urge to stare and return his smile. he takes his seat right next to you. you're not sure how long you started to drift off because once again reo is calling out for you.

"y/n- are you okay ? you seem a bit more aloof today." he says with furrowed brows. "you sick ?" reo zeroes into your face, purple eyes blooming into yours.

"nothing ! i'm fine."

reo is observant. he smirks, quickly catching on to your mindful thoughts that were hiding in your brain. the desk isn't cool enough to bring down temperature of your nervous body.

he reaches to twirl a piece of your hair. "have you been dreaming about me lately ? sure looks like it."

hiori yo

✩ the cutest when it comes to crushes. he's so giddy and sappy its adorable :(

✩ i see hiori as the type to fall in love with his best friend, like he suits the friends to lovers troupe so well.

✩ the more he spends time with you, the more he starts to have feelings that are romantical. he knows most things about you so it's easier for him to talk to you even when he likes you. the issue is showing his feelings to you.

✩ he spends most of his time with you. going to cute cafes, playing games, walking together to anywhere.

✩ hiori is quick to accept that you probably don't feel the same towards him but he doesn't mind. he just wants to keep the close bond you two have even if it can't become anything more.

✩ he still acts the same but he's a bit more careful around you. he's willing to protect you in an instant or make your day better.

✩ constantly making sure you're doing okay. if not, he's quick to run over to your home with your favorite snacks and a cute plushie.

✩ SO CUTE :( talks abt it to his online friends and the whole time his heart is racing and he's blushing.

✩ once his feelings become to big to fight, he decides it's easier to just tell you as a way to get over the crush, but he isn't aware that you feel the same.

hiori plays with the drawstrings of his hoodie, your figure standing right next to him on the playground bench. he's glancing between you and the ground.

"so what's up yo ?" you yawn tiredly. "make it quick though... i was sleeping before you woke me up."

deep inside of him, hiori feels bad that he called you during the middle of the night just to confess his feelings to you. he isn't sure if he should do this anymore, but the way you still have a smile on your face makes him change his mind.

he takes a deep breath. "y/n, i just needed to tell you that i actually like you- like, more than friends. like the like that makes me nervous and sickly. i can't get over you and i hate it, so i just had to tell you. i'm sorr-"

his gloating is cut off by your lips against his, the cold feel of your hands touching his burning cheeks. the kiss is short but feels like an eternity to the both of you, making him want more. you smile once again.

"and i like you too. now shut up so i can kiss you again !" with a giggle, you bring him into your embrace. his lips quirk into a smile.

hiori would gladly go mute if that meant he could recieve your love.

suddenly having secret T*d L*sso fans take over my dash, expressing disappointment that the show created as a spin-off series from a comedy sketch character had a lame ass finale. and from what I can glean. they’re upset at the throughline of unnuanced forgiveness and the idea that real family is more important than found family.

and all I can think about is your post re: bill hader vs divorced man writing a show about a divorced man 🧍‍♂️ so thanks for that bit of context I guess

I’ve heard it’s QUITE bad. I’m really excited. I’ve seen INSANE posts about like the hegemony of nuclear family and capitalism and how no one is willing to interrogate the toxic intersection because it clashes with the values we’re taught by society. About. Him going. Actually maybe I’ll move back to the same country as my young son. I saw a screenshot where beard marries his crazy fucking girlfriend that everyone has been gently encouraging him to break up with for three seasons. I’m so sad that my sleazy streaming site hasn’t uploaded it yet

You know, I feel really bad for the SSO writers

Not even from a "constantly changing lore, unfinished story threads, and so many NPCs good luck remembering characterization" sort of way. I mean in a meta and game writing way.

I look at the events and wince because oof, these are tough decisions. I play through the latest story quests and think about how hard that job is.

Unless there has been a staff change since I did contract work (and given it's been a while now, that is possible), it's mostly two ladies trying to wrestle with a difficult challenge:

How do you create the illusion of choice and feel of an RPG when writing a linear story with no possible deviations?

A player gets dialogue options, they are given a choice! The choice they pick doesn't matter, it doesn't change the outcome of the quest because it can't change. The story is linear. The characters ask the player for ideas, but either have to shoot them all down or the player can actually only suggest one idea.

There is also the issues of the world of Jorvik changing and not matching what the text says. The dialogue says to hide in bushes to stay hidden, but no bushes are around where the characters have been positioned. Katja and Jessica ride off on ice made by Katja, but the quests are released during winter, so the ice effect isn't visible at all under the snow textures and the dialogue about not being able to follow across a river now look very silly. A character mentions Moorland Stables getting renovated, which doesn't make sense years after Moorland's update. And so on.

And then there are events! SSO comes out with these brand new shiny models: the Dark Riders! So obviously they want to use their newest and best looking characters in events to show them off to all players as soon as possible. This makes things no longer make sense. How does Sabine know a brand new player? Why would a player recognize Katja or Sabine, who they have never met in game? There is the tug of war between "this doesn't make sense to have these characters at these events" and "these are the best looking models in the game and therefore we want to show them off", so the writers have to find a way to write these characters in and just sorta accept that the events are non canonical for most (all) players. How else would all the soul riders the brand new player hasn't saved yet be there standing around?

It's tough, it's a tangled mess, it's a balancing act with lots of other departments and needs pushing on the scales. I don't envy them and I don't know a good solution. (Short of like, releasing a single player story game for the story quests. IDK about the events, have event-only npcs? having every event have an ongoing updating story every year means a lot of time and resources is going toward just events, I can see why they would want to stop that, especially with 4 major events a year.)

Don't get me wrong, if I had a chance to do another writing or proofreading contract for them I'd do it in a heartbeat. But my god, tough job.

long post about ydris & circus worker / traveller / romani stereotypes (+ unrelated but related heterochromia)

(.... and sse's behaviour around one traveller-coded character and then of a masc-ish woman of colour while they dont do this with their plain white toast characters)

yasmin told me to write a post about this after i was telling her about it, so here it is.

first for canon: ydris is obvs pandorian, non-human, and his human form does not necessarily read as a specific ethnicity or cultural belonging (but i will get back to his looks later in the post!). he throws in french words but he is pandorian. why he speaks french (or uses it for flair?) is not clear from the lore afaik.

anyway. there are stereotypes about people who work in the travelling circus (or in any circus at all, depending). these stereotypes often go hand in hand with stereotypes about romani people and other travelling people. (im talking both about circus people of the past and present.)

here are some examples of harmful stereotypes about travelling people, circus people, and romani people (often these are founded in being an "outsider", people dont like to trust outsiders and consider them strange for not being exactly the same as themselves, aka xenophobia):

thief, criminal, dangerous

trickery, lying, cheating

seduction, enchanting (can come back to ^ trickery etc)

unreliable, untrustworthy

immoral, and/or follows other morals/laws than "the norm" in the places they travelled to [and this is seen in a negative way]

promiscuous, unfaithful

mysterious, intriguing

using magic / reading fortunes (these can be connected back to trickery, mystery, seduction...)

wild, untamed

"are they good or bad?"

speaks a foreign language or a secret language (and may use this to talk behind the backs of locals / to trick locals)

sexualised on behalf of above points (immoral, mysterious, seductive, enchanting, wild, untamed...)

objectified and/or dehumanised on behalf of above points (i think you get it by now.)

these stereotypes can affect people who are, for example, european or american white people who work in a travelling circus. however, romani people, on behalf of their ethnicity, can be affected by these stereotypes about nomadic people even if that romani person doesn't live a nomadic lifestyle, because these stereotypes about romani people persist as racist and cultural stereotypes even when you take the travelling out of the equation. (i think irish travellers also face the stereotypes regardless of if they live as settled or as nomads?)

now, i want to say some things about ydris looks before i move on with the topic of these stereotypes, but first its important to note that sso is a swedish game made by swedish people, and whats considered "white" or "white passing" in the US is not the same as what it is in scandinavia or northern europe (i cant speak for other parts of europe well enough so i wont). its also more like "what part of europe"-passing rather than just "white" passing.

in sweden, you're not going to meet hispanic americans or african americans, for example, but you will see romani people and kurdish people, for example, and ofc, polish people, estonian people, people from around the area.... the minority groups are different in europe vs the US (vs anywhere else ofc. i hope USamericans learn that nowhere else is the US and you need to stop projecting shit on other places). the idea of whats "swedish ethnicity" or "scandinavian ethnicity" or "european ethnicity" and so on are not equal to "white american ethnicity". remember that many white ppl here can trace back their history like a thousand years in the same country, while white ppl in america are generally like, "my great grandpa came from germany, my great grandma from poland, and my girlfriend's family came from ireland" and so on. theres a mash of different cultures and ethnicities, which isnt the average case for white people in europe. (please: obviously im not saying "everyone is this" just on average. plenty of ppl are mixed here, or have grandparents who moved here, etc.)

i am a swede with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes and i have experienced white ppl colorism (im still not sure if colorism is the right word, but i think so. however its mostly harmless idiocy, but frustrating to hear over and over). i dont mind it anymore, i just think its stupid, now, as an adult. and colorism(?) within white people is not at all as bad as racism that poc experience in the same country - just to be clear. the reason i bring it up isnt to say "boohoo me", but to try to explain what "white passing" or "swedish passing" is in sweden, from a person who literally is white but is not considered swedish enough due to having darker eyes and darker hair.

anyway! ydris has black hair. from a swedish developer and swedish audience perspective, black hair is enough to make a character read as "foreign". (thats why we had this whole tangent ^ above.) but, we also dont need to rely on a vague hint of foreignness, because he throws in french words, and he's from pandoria. and a lot of people will associate the travelling circus and ydris' wagon with romani culture to some degree, whether or not that's accurate (again, circus culture and romani culture and other nomadic cultures can become mixed up). the black hair ties well into the image of a travelling circus person.

ydris is a sort of "chaotic neutral" in the story so far. he has different intentions than the "heroes" and "villains" both, and he is largely self-centered (focusing on his own desires - tho he seems to care about pandoria as well - and he likely experiences different feelings than the average jorvegian does, and his sense of morals and social rules are different). now, im sure you can see how that ties back into some of the stereotypes ive listed: he's a foreign outsider who cant be trusted, he is mysterious, is he good or bad?, he tricks people, he behaves chaotically (wild)...... etc

he also comes across as flirty towards the player, which im sure you can see, ties back in to things from the stereotype list like seduction, enchantment, and being promiscuous. if it helps, consider Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame, as an example of the harmful stereotype of seductive romani. (i loved disney hunchback when i was a kid, and i also want to point out that that movie handles the topic of how esmeralda has to do things just to scrape by, and she is demonised in the eyes of a rich white religious man in power, who is evil, while she herself is a good person and being oppressed and dehumanised. just leaving that here as food for thought, not to really defend or cancel anything, but to encourage ppl to view things in a nuanced way. the stereotypes are harmful and disney is an evil company, but there are also parts in that story that are criticising the right things. then theres other parts that are just ??? )

also, there is a significant population of romani in france, but ofc there are romani across many countries. yasmin pointed out when we talked that french is also seen as a "sexy language" - so it kind of both ties into the "foreign traveller from further down in europe" and "seductive romani" by having him use a language considered "sexy".

ydris also has heterochromia (one light blue eye and one dark blue) which isnt related to the idea of the traveller, but it *is* considered "mysterious", "strange", and potentially "untrustworthy". this is ofc really weird - heterochromia is a real life condition that completely normal people have. having heterochromia shouldnt be portrayed as anything weird or special - there is nothing mysterious or strange about it, or something "untrustworthy" (playing into things like being two-faced).

if you go back up to the list of harmful stereotypes, keeping the things ive said in mind, and how ydris behaves in the game..... im sure you can understand what im saying about the bigger picture. the combination of living in a circus wagon, being mysterious and flirtatious and living by his own rules, being untrustworthy, having black hair, throwing in french words, theres a lot of things that maybe seem okay out of context, but when you put them together, to me, it makes it clear that ydris is like.... romani coded, or something close to romani coded, despite, yes, technically being pandorian, i get it, thank you, its not relevant, he is not real, the staff at sse are real and their biases are real.

theres nothing wrong in itself with being flirty or promiscuous or seductive and whatnot - or with fictional villains, or chaotic, untrustworthy characters - the problem is the stereotype of a group of real people. especially when you're passing these stereotypes on to an audience of impressionable children. why is ydris the character being handled this way? why is sabine the character to be handled this way? why dont they handle plain white toast characters this way?

an important point is that i dont think neither ydris or sabine are really sexualised within the game itself - the more blatant stuff happens on sse's official social media. ydris is sexualised to some degree in the way that he flirts: again, it alludes to the seductive romani person, even if its very mild flirting (the stereotype is still perpetuated). sabine is mostly not sexualised in the game, just hyped up in general, but the social media team keeps milking the fact that ppl are thirsty for sabine. the post is not really about sexualisation as the focus. its about general questionable or outright harmful design choices, that sometimes also has to do with sexualisation and objectification.

this, as usual, isnt about cancelling sso or sse. its about being analytical and critical about the media you consume, and about biases both from creators and from audiences. its about learning how to be more understanding and respectful towards other people. and about raising your voice and holding ppl accountable when they perpetuate harmful things (esp if its people in power, like companies, celebrities, and politicians).

personally, i dont think you arent allowed to think ydris or sabine are hot. its okay if they are your type or if you relate to them or whatever, because like, ultimately we're surrounded by all these characters and real people everywhere in media that are affected by biases. but i DO think you need to actually think about this shit if you are thirsting for sabine or thirsting for ydris. i dont think its great to just be like, omg, typical ydris, he tricked me again and then he seduced me, typical circus people. or to be like, wow, sabine is so hot and should step on me, beefy women of colour are scarier than beefy white women, thats so hot. do you get it? you can be attracted to these charas without being racist or xenophobic or misogynist or whatever, they just happen to be your type, and thats nice, but you do need to think about how you view them and why, and how you talk about them and why, bc a lot of people have biases they arent even aware to, and might not understand what kind of biases you perpetuate. example: how apparently most ppl didnt think about the romani / traveller stereotype implications of ydris so i had to write this post. stay woke and pay attention to potential harmful stereotypes in media, so i dont have to write this shit anymore

ooooobliiiiigaaatory sso post because new dark rider design dropped! erissa (not sure why they didnt just keep elise or change it to eris? but that's ok!), the remake of chiyo, just dropped, and... she's white! interesting. there were a lot of ways sso could've saved the dark riders fumbles. there were a LOT of those fumbles, but the one i hammered on the hardest was chiyo, because i myself am japanese, and immediately know a bad design when i see one. likewise, i'm pretty spot on with calling how that character will most likely be written, and can make a few good solid guesses. i will say, i feel lots more in common with sabine, and am against the way they designed someone i could relate to and then painted them staunchly as a villain; likewise with all the dark riders, this may be sso's most diverse group yet, and they are villains. HOWEVER. at that point, they had already put them in-game, and now all i can hope for is some good old fashioned childhood "everything ends up fine" writing that shows these characters some love and perhaps sways them from their homocidal ways.

back to erissa.

why was chiyo's design racist? well, it wasn't just her. most of the dark riders were handled poorly. to be honest, i've talked SO much on this blog about why chiyo was such a bad design that i simply don't want to rehash it. was it the worst i'd ever seen? no. but putting in those stereotypes to a game children -- WHITE children -- play is like teaching children to hit bees nests for fun. it's pointless and hurtful to everyone.

SO: what do i think of erissa? she's cute! i like this design way better than the last.

that's it. whole idea. i think the colors are more comprehensive, i like the crochet details, i think the hobby horse looks a little silly but i kinda like it. overall, i am happy.

now you're probably wondering, "what, so sso can't make non white villains!?" and the answer to that is 1. don't be stupid and 2. of course they can. but they better put just as much effort into the rest of sso. they don't, though. our only buff woman is alex, who barely counts because she's kinda small as fuck in game. that leaves Sabine, who's more buff. her character is nonwhite, visibly has arm hair, and until proven otherwise, is nonhuman. not only that, she's evil. that sends some pretty strong messages, and, side tangent, but to anyone too goofy or too stubborn to see how that's a problem, i'm excited to see how the children in YOUR family turn out, be it yours or other family member's. will YOU teach them what racism is and why it exists and the complexities of it that people scoff at that allow it to continue to exist day in and day out, or will you let them play all the other games that DONT revise their writing, where the good characters are straight and white and every other type of "normal" and the enemies are gay or nonwhite or both? anyway. i hope you see my point.

"children will experience this stuff ANYWAY!" sure. why add to it?

"oh, so you're pulling a save the children thing? so what, you want everyone to be th3 same?" no. i want them to take chiyo's design, make her clothes look better, make her default state not like a mouse, and put her in the game as sso's like. only japanese character. i'd fucking love that! do you know how little representation there is for weird japanese girls? we dont got dick or shit. it'd be so fun to have a slightly redesigned chiyo as an npc, i'd totally fucking adore that! different clothes bc i think her past design was a little. ourgh. it'd be fun and cool if they made her like, a budding emo? omg that'd resonate with so many people i'm sure, and the purple hair is already suited to it. black hair would also be cool, though. do you see what im saying here, though? context is everything. im sad sabine is a bad guy. im sad every white girl who plays this game gets someone to relate to. i guess i too really relate to and like anne, but that's where the similarities end. it's easy to say "why does race matter?" in a sea of white people if you're white, but it can get lonely playing any video game if you're not white. sso is one of the best games ive found in terms of trying to really add diversity (although im still waiting for updated fat npcs), and that's why i weighed in so heavily. it matters to me. i love this game. i think they've done so much good with it recently, i'm really just beyond impressed and in love.

i think erissa is a good design.

Hi so this is based of a pov i just watched. But could you do Lady Lesso x reader platonic. Where r is hearing voices it could be over thinking or an unknown ability but she cracked and lesso found her about to junp of something like a bridge or tower. And she says ‘i’m hearing voices all the time and their not mine, i’m hearing voices and there haunting my mind’.

The first time it happened you honestly thought you'd misheard someone's conversation but the thought wouldn't leave, you couldn't make it stop, which in turn made you so anxious you had a panic attack. You felt like your whole lungs were completely collapsed. No air could enter or leave the vital organ which in turn made you panic more. But once you'd somehow managed to calm yourself back down you realised one massive thing. You were alone. But you had hope that it was just a bad day.

It wasn't a bad day though. These thoughts began to come and go more often, you found yourself thinking and saying the most horrid things, sometimes about you, sometimes about others and it always made you feel so terribly guilty. Truly, you didn't want to hurt yourself or anyone else but you can't control them. They were loud and overwhelming and so realistic, all you could do was surrender to them until they passed.

Exhaustion seemed to be a permanent fixture of your life these days and the headaches didn't help what so ever. You noticed how withdrawn you were and how irritable people were finding you to be. One by one you watched people give up on you now. It was like you were too much to deal with and not worth the air you're breathing. Immediately you knew what you needed to do to fix the problem. To fix you. You were numb as you made your way to the top of the tower, you didn't care you were skipping class, or what you were going to do. You didn't feel sad or scared, the voices loudly guiding you through your journey. They were right, you couldn't fight them any longer than you have.

Standing on the edge of the tower the first thing you noticed was the beautiful sunset glowing over the trees in the horizon. It was truly something magical and a fitting send of for you. Yet you didn't want to miss a single thing of the sun setting. As the sun set you said goodbye to all you knew and attempted to calm your mind by imagining what your after life would be like. You didn't want to give too much thought on who would find you, or if you'd even be worth a funeral, you already knew you weren't. Your thoughts agreeing with you and encouraging you to jump. The thoughts were horrid and they promised the only way they'd stop is if you'd just step over the edge. Blindly you stepped out expecting to fall only to be grabbed by the last moment and tugged backwards to safety.

"Let me go" you whined trying to get back to the edge, "let me go! I want them to go away" your temper was flaring as the voices got louder. "Y/n, stop" lesso boomed in her regal dean voice and you immediately halted. "L-ady Le-sso?" You stuttered in your evident shock. "Now little dove, why don't you step back into my arms and we can talk about this?" You could tell she let a kind edge seep into her voice but there was still no room left for arguments so you allowed the red headed dean to pull you into a hug.

One thing you forgot in the whole process is Leonora loves you more than life itself. She views you as her own. She didn't know you would hear voices and you'd pulled away from her, she wanted to give you space but hearing you skipped you lesson and knowing how lost and alone you'd seemed recently she had to follow you. Just to make sure you were okay, thankfully she found you just in time. And for that she'd always be grateful to anyone out there who helped her save her dove.

"I'm hearing voices all the time, I'm hearing voices that aren't mine" you mumbled into the woman's neck, red hot tears burning her skin. "Oh my darling, you could've come to me darling, they aren't real dove I promise you that" she tried to reassure but the voices grew louder in an attempt to block her out. "Stop please fucking stop. I don't want to do this anymore. Shut up, shut up. Shut the fuck up" you ranted through ragged breaths, Leonora knew you well enough to know this was a panic attack now and you weren't really seeing hearing or feeling the real world.

"Shhh dove, can you follow my voice? I know there's lots of loud ones in your head but you know which one is your Nora's?" She murmured a hand gently rubbing circles in your back. "Nora" you whimpered clutching at your chest, "can't breathe, help me." If you could've seen her heart you would've saw it break at that but luckily you couldn't and now she could remain strong on the outside even if her heart ached for you. "Shh dove I'm here, I'm here and you're safe love, come let's go inside yes? Your much to cold my little bird. Let nora mend that broken wing of yours, so then you can go fly again." Leonora always had a way with words, it's one of the many reasons you love her, and it's one of the skills she's thankful for as she managed to coax you into your bed. You hadn't t noticed the sunset had faded into an onyx sky, but you did notice being in your chosen mothers arms and hearing her heart beating quietened the voices.

Consider if someone hasn't said so already: Ranboo begrudgingly going to fetch Tubbo's projects to him after he's far along enough in the pregnancy that he shouldn't be getting up and leaning over his work so often. Ran thinks maybe he should like, sit down and chill but Tubbo cannot FATHOM sitting and not doing something for long enough.

Consider as well, Ranboo massaging his ankles and polishing his hooves to relieve aches and swelling, Tubbo getting super uncharacteristically sappy and emotional in the last trimester talking about how Ranboo's gonna be the best parent ever before staring at the ceiling trying not to cry

SSO Analysation – The Vala’s Morality

Black and White Morality as a Story Theme is the idea of Good and Evil. There being a side of Good and Light and the right decisions and the side of Evil and Dark and wrong decisions. It is most commonly incorporated into the overarching conflict of your story world (like the conflict of the jedi and sith). -> Represented as the side of Aideen and the side of Garnok.

Greyishness comes in later, focusing on characters in the most popular Tolkien-ish interpretation. Meaning there is a little good in the worst of us and a little bad in the best of us, BUT there is no good is Evil and no evil in Good. People have the choice to fall and the choice to rise again. -> Represented in the characters of Justin, Mr Sands, Pi, Ydris, Anne.

Orange and Blue Morality means the opposing sides are not good and bad. They are most commonly Order and Chaos as we can see in the case of the Vala and Sive. -> Their goal is Chaos. They are not with the Light side and not with the Dark side, they are witches from Earth, but using the magic and energies of Pandoria. They are sitting right in the middle of the compass. -> This point is wonderfully paradoxical, since they are pursuing Chaos by preserving Balance. In their eyes the light and dark sides are of Order, since in the case of the victory of either, we are painting the whole island white or black. No more Grey. If we sever the connection between Earth and Pandoria, the Vala will no longer have access to their magic. Their power comes from Chaos which is the midway point between good and bad and reality and unreality. -> This is why they help both our and our enemies’ side. Their priority is that the conflict over Jorvik goes on for as long as possible. They want Light and Dark and the reality of Earth and unreality of Pandoria to clash and create power for them. The Vala are preserving Balance to create Chaos.

And this is a really clever take on incorporating Black and White and Orange and Blue Moralities into the same story, using your established magic system. A+

The more I think about it the more I'm just. obsessed with aroace Yuno!!!!

Like c'mon... 'The wanted wanting the wanter /isn't that just too perfect?' She's not doing this compensated dating because she needs the money or has any huge past trauma, there's something else attracting her: it's that normal relationships feel so fake and dishonest (meanwhile even if her clients get feelings for her, it's not her fault because she was upfront that this is a transactional thing) and with these types she can have full control of what goes on and when and where and why!!!

Which is Also making me think of. Complicated slightly fucked up Yuno+Kazui friendship.

And FIRST OF ALL I'm. very new to this fandom and haven't read Most of the drama CDs hahahaha so this is just my first impression BUT

so she approaches him early (i have no idea if any of this is canon im sso sorry this is just what I want. right now.) because guys like him are common clients (either bc they're divorced and lonely or want to feel young again or whatever) but he's just easygoing abt it but Firm No. ('I'm old enough to be your father.' 'Haha, yeah? Isn't that the point?') And genuinely doesn't seem interested which is kinda annoying but whatever.

So she kinda tries or or two approaches with him, like playing the more sexy role of her second MV, but still he's not giving Anything back At All, and honestly it's weird that she's even trying this hard? Normally it's the other way around??? Like it's not like he can even pay her in here so.

She stews a bit and wonders if she does genuinely have feelings for him finally which'd be both annoying and a relief, and honestly it just Fits that that'd be how these things go lmao that she finally has real legit feelings for a guy with no interest in her. (And Mahiru is probably super excited about it bc this is early when she's still perky and happy and wanting to push them together.)

Maybe at some point Kazui does admit that he feels lonely without someone physically there with him to touch and be close to. So Yuno finally gets him to lie in her lap or vice versa or whatever. But it feels sorta weird. And he gets a bit somber. And wonders aloud if this is what it would've been like to have a daughter.

And she just. Gets up and leaves.

She's had guys say stuff like that before. Sometimes cause they pitied her and wanted to 'save her', which was frustrating, and she'd cut them off immediately. Usually because it was some kinda fucked-up incest roleplay, which she enjoyed; more than most roleplays, actually. The sweet lovey-dovey rps are okay but kinda false and make her feel weirdly guilty; the more messed up ones, she can relax in. Fucked up familial relationships, fucked up romantic relationships: what's the difference?

But Kazui actually meant it. No ulterior sexual or compassionate motives.

She apologises later saying that it's because they never hashed out their red flags or what the scene would be about, but she's the professional here and she didn't make sure that happened so it's her bad. And he just seems to accept that, and says he doesn't want to overstep her boundaries. And seems to mean it.

There's some commonality between them. A willingness to hold themselves back. To not talk about things that people don't want to talk about. This dance of fake affection, until it's impossible to tell what one's true feelings are anymore.

She likes having her relationships set out in clear words, without the actual emotional honesty of having to delve into her own psyche. But now she sort of wants to share things with him, and she has no idea what to do with that. And on his side, he senses some similar circumstances between them, but he still isn't yet able to be honest about what he knows about himself deep down. But maybe if he was, he could talk to her.

There's some talk abt sex among the prisoners. These two are expected to have the most experience, but she's kinda like 'sex is okay. It feels good and it's a means to an end.' And he's weirdly mysterious about it all but claims that his perspective is closest to hers, which confuses everyone else.

And............somehow from that they end up being able to have a conversation about Not Wanting What Society Wants You To Want and the weird relationships you have with all that and the ways you do or don't get what you Actually want, an d it's all very good and meaningful but idk I haven't thought that far yet hahahaha that's as far as I got before I had to type it all up :')))

So I woke up and chose violence today ( SSO spoilers)

Disclaimer: if you didn't read the title, there'll be spoilers. You're warned.

So today I was for one time rather happy to log on bugs land. Melon Lord & Cornelia were ready to spread some fire on Jorvik and enjoy some Jorvegian screams of terror with our new bestie.

Except we can't.

Hear me Sabine fans, or simply people tired of the goody two shoes they keep imposing us: it started well, and it ended badly.I should predict it, in fact I sorta understood it would end like this during the pigs quest of this year, when they didn't give you better/ less embarrassed lines to reply, it was written by advance that you'd have to look like a kid caught in the moment.

Then the GED thing... Uh guys, I work for your own boss, you know the angry blondie scared by kittens? The one who send me sometimes with a letter for you. Why the fuck would GED workers not bow in front of me, or at least leave me alone? Or even weirder, why can't Sabine take it herself? Garnok people and GED work together for f... sake!

Anyways, I bring back the box ( little advice people, take the sea side road, less people, less crowded) and, how convenient!, Sabine's not here! You know, the Sabine who was so impatient to get her box? Well she's gone! And you? Instead of just waiting for her you chose to open and see what's inside... Without even making sure nobody was near you. Great job MC, great job. Of course, she starts to became the stereotypical villain angry threatening girl, the one she wasn't in the first year lol, and what do we do?

We ran away. From the girl and her horse who beat us in the same race everyday because it's a magical horse. WHAT A BRILLIANT IDEA -- RP/lore speaking it's freaking stupid. We'd have more chance to reach the same point by another shorter road or to defeat her with a good spell. But no, the chosen one has to turn like a maniac and hiding near the two soul riders. At this point we're back to the bad SSO lines, Alex play tough, Linda is... Uh... Useless as usual.

The ending?

No fireworks. No pranks with Sabine. The SR gently scolding us for falling into the tricks of the evil one.

Back to the gentle slave state, 'cause now I guess that our chance to get out of this hell won't want to speak to us again.
