One of two finished projects I completed for friends far away for Christmas this year. I was panicking for a few days as I didn't have the right frame size but managed to find one on Amazon in the nick of time!
Currently working on another ye' ol' pattern similar to this for myself!
so, there has been a little while since i last got to work on the braces, they are however now functional because i finished all the stitching!
first things first it turned out that when i ironed on the htv i also managed to iron shut the little pocket that holds the metal piece, yknow the thing kinda essential to the support of the braces....
now, on the right hand brace that was fine, the design sits on top of the hand and the metal support is on the inside of the wrist. on the left hand however, the design is Also on the inside of the wrist. so i had to make a new little pocket.

its very simple, just some scrap with the ends turned in and folded so i can get the support piece in without it sliding out when in use. to save myself on bulk (and work) i just zig-zagged the edges shut, and then i whip stitched the pocket into the brace.
next up was the decorative stitches keeping the little flap on the inside of each brace down, green and purple cross stitches on the right, gray backstiches with red whipped(?) details on the left.

my hand stitches are usually more even than this i swear, but the material + needing to make sure i catch the flap made it hard to be exact. plus; its punk, not perfect right?
as for the velcro parts i decided to sew them on by machine because i know ill need to replace them at some point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
thats it for this time, next is the final decorations (post linked here when its up, or just check the "operation make the braces not suck" tag on my blog) and then ill try to get some good pictures of the finished braces!
Mad Hatter Cat stitched by montypenny. Pattern designed by Julia Zolotova.
Finally finished all the backstich! I finished all the X’s in October, took me awhile to dedicate to finishing the backstitch, haha. The most backstitch I’ve done to date plus first time using blends! This was a very fun stitch.
I got the kit bc it looked interesting/pretty, noticed I didn't really know how to use it and had it laying around ever since. It was a pillow with a flower motif iirc.
Also stiched without a hoop. There was an attempt at backstich. I keep finding doghair on my projects and it's kind of annoying me at this point.
The pattern I used had leaves in orange, blue and green, very autumn-y. This specific shade of red was the perfect fall colour.
Back for reference, very neat since the tails are under the front stiches.
I remember creating the pattern for this picture back in 2020. This was supposed to be a practice pattern along with my first #portraitembroidery . I kind of misplaced the fabric after transferring the pattern. And recently I found it and managed to complete it. I am pretty happy with the result. How did this happen??? I’m packing for school, because my school is dumb and requires us to attend in person starting tomorrow (despite winter break being next week), and I’m like:
Okay pens? Check. Notebook? Not packed but eh I’ll Remember to bring it. Embroidery? Um . . . sure! Knitting? Don’t know when I’ll be able to work on it but check. Sewing kit is a must, never know when a friend is gonna lose a button to their flannel or rip a hole in their favorite band shirt gotta be prepared.
Periodic Table stitched by not_miriam. Pattern ($10.11) designed by HollysHobbiesUK.
“After 10 months I finished my first pattern. The Periodic table by HollysHobbiesUK.
Two Christmases in a row I told my grandma about this chemistry teacher who stiched a Periodic Table for 20 Years. I thought it was so cool I wanted to do it myself. I searched for pattens and ordered 14 count. The Aida came on the January 10th and I completed the backstich in October. It was my first crossstich, besides two of these pre-drawn tablecloth sets, and I'm pretty proud of it.
I know the frame isn't perfect yet. I wanted 2 wooden sticks as support but only had one at home, I need to buy s second one and maybe resew the seems. But I just wanted it to hang and I can redo the frame later.”
Hello everyone! Recently I posted a picture of a cat in a story. And here is the result. I really like ornaments in which the backstich prevails as the main line with a lot of small details. It looks like a black pen graphic. And this embroidery has become an experiment for me. I did it on the Janome embroidery machine. It turned out not bad, it seems to me, but hand embroidery in my opinion turns out better.
The new scheme with the cat is already on Etsy. The backstich lines in it can easily be embroidered on the canvas cells
