jelly bean (formerly known as mother goose) and her daughter little bo peep!!!!!

jelly bean was brought into the shelter i got her from at around 1 year old with kittens. today i visited that shelter (they like having visitors socialize with the cats) and one of the shelter staff told me they still have one of her daughters as a permanent resident! miss bo peep is TEN YEARS OLD and i can definitely see a resemblance.

I feel like recently, ADHD has kind of become shorthand for “a person who is annoying online and has no real problems,” and I don’t really think that’s awesome news, given the context that ADHD has a long history of being disregarded as a made up disorder that’s just an excuse for poor/obnoxious behavior, no matter how much scientific research proves otherwise. ADHD is not by any means the only disorder that has people making a thousand misleading tiktoks about it, so perhaps do some critical thinking about why specifically ADHD has become the poster child for that behavior. There are certainly valid criticisms to be made of the way we discuss mental health online, but maybe use your brain and determine why this disorder in particular is the one that’s easiest to point at for being “annoying” and “not that big of a deal.”

#idk maybe if u actually watched a couple of the tiktoks u might learn that the lack of focus thing is reall not the main issue #its just what the people around us are most likely to notice and be bothered by #not saying it doesnt get obnoxious seeing people say the same thing over and over #and yes some people are like purposely vague and disingenuous about the symptoms to get views from people thinking they have it now #but i see that with everything. like autism PTSD depression OCD anxiety #im always getting tiktoks saying that im a lesbian or i have repressed memories or “x normal thing is a symptom of y disorder!!” #and yes its annoying but its probably somewhat helpful to people who actually are dealing w those things #and also like. if u simply stop treating ur for you page like a crystal ball that sees into your soul and reflects it back #and realize its just an algorithm designed to make u interact whether thats bc u like what u saw or fucking hated it #then u will not be as bothered ! #but yes our generation seems to have a habit of constantly trying to find the right box to out ourselves in so we can be like. “marketable” #like people seem to want to design their personality like an movie character or something #but its so shitty that we’re dog piling all that on ADHD as if our specific disorder has anything to do with it #also personally i think its kind of normal to be really focused on a particular aspect of your identity when u just discovered it #and it usually evens out and just becomes part of the background of your identity #but yes there’s often a problem with pathologizing normal things #but i think its important to recognize that lots of things that are normal occasionally are pathological in excess. like thats how it works #like we’ve all been through how being sad sometimes is not the same as depression #why cant we grasp that occasionally going into a room and forgetting why you’re there isnt the same as ADHD #my posts

helped my friend move carried a bunch of boxes up the stairs was 1/2 of the Get The Sofa Upstairs team. killed it today on expressing love to my bestie (my love language is Lift Heavy Box Do DIY). offered to make their bed but we couldn't find the screws so I'm going back tomorrow bc they're a widdle baby twink who is not DIY confident 😘

then we had a lovely dyke time with the whole volunteer moving team on the beach with some beers and pizza ☺️

good time had by all. also I flirted a tiny bit with someone I met at the moving party 👀 We're Developing As A Person

#random personal stuff #the stupid p o l i t i c a l picture got unburied and is back in full sight in my coworker's box where I will have to look at it constantly #everytime I look left or get up from my desk or come back to my desk there it will be #I know it's just a dumb picture but it has come to represent a lot of simmering rage with this man's priorities & I am struggling with this #I found out yesterday that my predecessor in this job had issues with this guy over purchase selections #and so did a former distance librarian #who reportedly was told by this man that he believes he's 'doing the Lord's work' in selecting these books #is it the Lord's work to push a certain p o l i t i c a l agenda? these are not religious books #is it the Lord's work to push an opinion of something that is not directly tied to religious teachings? #is it the Lord's work to lie and call a book order a replacement so you can get a book you want without revealing you chose it? #it was suggested recently that I talk with the VP of Academic Affairs about this issue #as something that will need to be kept in mind when hiring the next library director #and I would have to be very careful about how I did it #but I really think I will #I am so tired of this. so tired. #we are supposed to be so much better than this #is it the Lord's work to mock public figures with whom you disagree? #especially about an issue that's not really an issue anymore? #2020 and so forth happened can we please move on now?

Too Many Critters!

First, it was the slug in the kitchen leaving slime-trails over Sparkfoot's ingredients.

Then it was the sackbag in George's bed, followed by...

...the tiny croc in the showers which had Kata running, dripping and screaming.

Next was the ore nibbler causing Freya to waste a whole day fixing the atomic furnace. (But the narfish in the hologram didn't bother anyone).

The final nail was drilled by the steam spider in Fife's infirmary.

"The Captain can't keep leaving critters running around the ship!" cried Sparkfoot. "It's unsanitary!" "It's alarming!" cried Kata, and George nodded along. "It's dangerous!" cried Freya. "Something," Fife said, "must be done!"

"Boss," said Kata to Yuudai, "please will you speak to the Captain about this?" "Imploring. She listens to you," said Sparkfoot to Xictli. "Alright," Xictli and Yuudai said. "We'll see what can be done."

"Come," said Captain Mio when Xictli knocked on the bridge door. "Captain," said Yuudai. "The crew are concerned with the number of critters you keep abandoning on the ship." "They are becoming a nuisance and a danger," said Xictli. "Oh?" Mio asked. "The ore nibbler ate through the atomic furnace." "The slug spoiled food and the steam spider left rust in the infirmary." "And the crew don't like being surprised in their quarters." "Oh dear," said Captain Mio. "I'll see what I can do."

The first thing to do, thought Captain Mio, was to collect all the critters together. So she went around zapping up all the critters with the relocator tool. All the siders and the scarabs and the blobs and all the other critters.

Then she though 'well now I have them all, where shall I take them?' She couldn't just dump them on any only planet - they were too use to being fed. So the Captain thought long and hard. "I know!" she exclaimed to herself. "I can take them to the Zoo on Altais! The keepers there will be able to take them and look after them for me. And I can visit them any time I like."

So off she went and talked to the zoo keepers. "Of course we can look after your critters!" the zoo keeper said. "We'll be happy to have them." Mio put the critters in a special box for the zoo keeper and petted them all. "Visit any time," the zoo keeper said, smiling. "Of course. I'll see you soon!" Mio said, happy that the critters and her crew would all be happy again.

Is there a way to get help for the people witnessing a bunch of terrified children on screen getting medically tortured and thinking that this is the show making said character cool and special and not just an abuse victim? bc this is not only old, it’s bordering on worrying.

Suffering is just suffering. It sure does make you things, but special isn’t one of them.

Child is kidnapped, abused, forced to be complicit in whatever a secret malevolent society forces them to do, has to run away and hide Not Even As Themselves to get away and it barely works for long. Their friend gets murdered. Then, when the society is fed up with them, they erased their memories and past, remove what was done to them from popular history so nobody else will know they existed, and dump them alone and without family back on the planet they were tortured to build. There is a child crying in a barn involved. Then they go on to do various other horrible things to them, the only plus side is they get better at running away now, but not always. Because they get pulled back in and messed with all the time because gallifrey hates them but also still wishes to use and abuse them for their own gain.

I wonder if the doctor sleeps better after the master went nuclear on them.

Regardless, the chosen one trope this is not. Nobody was chosen. There was a kidnapping. This is mother gothel territory.
