it's 2024 and people still don't realize that Kars was bluffing when he called Santana a poorly trained guard dog... he is visibly upset when Esidisi and Wamuu die. he also says it's Wamuu's own fault he's dead for being so proud and chivalrous about it. he laughs in Caesar's face for daring to be upset over the death of his friend. and he's still visibly upset when Wamuu and Esidisi die. he is bluffing he was bluffing the whole time. and maybe he's lying to himself also but that doesn't make it the truth. of course he's better than those sentimental humans — did he not slay his own parents? what kind of sentimental human freak could do that? Kars is better, and stronger than humans in every way (and if he isn't, what is he alive for?) and this is the standard he holds himself to. in order to be stronger than humans he must also be emotionally stronger than them. he must, or he's not really stronger.

of course he'd never really miss Santana, dying is failure. of course he doesn't feel a pang of grief thinking about the man he raised from a baby. he didn't give birth to him, right? what does he have to be sad for? that baby failed him. of course. the baby that he taught to fight, to hunt, to eat, to stalk, to walk, to speak... of course he doesn't miss him. of course he'd never grieve that baby. because that would make him sentimental, and Lord Kars isn't sentimental like those lowly humans ...
