''And I wonder: in how many infinite sets of worlds will I take one more step? And how many countless versions of me will turn around instead, and walk out of this room? Who exactly am I saving from shame, when I'll live and die in every possible way? Myself.''

Axiomatic
Axiomatic [ak-see-ə-MAD-ik] Part of speech: adjective Origin: Greek, late 18th century 1. Self-evident or unquestionable. 2. (Mathematics) Relating to or containing axioms. Examples of axiomatic in a sentence “You might think the solution is axiomatic, but I need more evidence.” “The suggestion to extend the deadline was axiomatic, and the vote was unanimous.”

I wonder if the whole Abyss and Forbidden Knowledge thing is a metaphor for Gödel's incompleteness theorems.
It's not that farfetched, the second theorem was popularized in non-academic circles (to the point where even mentioning it in academic discussions is now a faux pas unless it's among mathematicians) and was used to point at the core difference between human and AI thinking (until the current generation of AI models fell outside of what it describes).
And Genshin does have a lot of AI themes.
Bear with me for a second.
In layman terms, in a system like formal logic there are statements we can express using this system and ones we can prove or disprove.
And if the system is consistent (doesn't hold contradicting statements) these are different things! You can say things that will be true and will correctly describe the object you are trying to describe but there will be no way to logically derive them from the other statements you already have.
Also a consistent system can't prove that it's consistent.
(an inconsistent, contradictory system has no such problems.
you can also formally accept a non-provable statement into a consistent system as another axiom/"known truth" and it will create a new system with new properties)
These theorems were formulated as a way to talk about the limitations of mathematics compared to our thinking, but in popular reading they somehow turned into "for any formal system there's a statement that nukes it" (Gödel statement).
Some people wondered if a Gödel statement that fries a person's brain is possible.
What I currently see in Genshin painfully resembles those popular readings.
Celestially maintained Teyvat laws are a consistent system, forbidden knowledge is a statement that can be neither proven nor disproven in that system (and messes it up), Abyss is an inconsistent system (any statement can be proven true and it's pretty horrible but also hey, anything can be proven true so forbidden knowledge doesn't disrupt it further).
Perhaps gods and their ideas are something like logical statements and owning a gnosis symbolises incorporating their "truth" into the overarching formal system of Teyvat laws.
(perhaps different cycles are just variations of the same world with slightly different rules/axioms)
Also Irminsul cannot be allowed to think of things it can't understand and it cannot be allowed to think of its nature and consistency of the information it stores.

Title: Biological evolution as example of emergence in chaos theory - or: The serendipity of chaos
2022/11/22 [green, red, blue and black ballpoint pen on dotted A5 paper]

The equation depicts a feedback loop in fractals: [source unknown]
Tumblr media
A feedback loop can be imagined as a kind of "alteration in the rendered structure" - Each iteration alters the resulting structure slightly.
In my drawing I declared the letters of the equations as:
C as "process/interaction pattern/interaction rule"
Z_old as Z_n and "prior structure"
Z_new as Z_n+1 and "posterior structure" [the resulting structure after a new interaction/iteration]

tl;dr for that last post but almost nothing is actually self evident. If ppl disagree with it it isn't self evident and if you don't get that it means you're just real deep in your own ideology.

''Out of all those hundreds of billions, don't you think there'll be people who are just like you?' 'What are you talking about now? Reincarnation?' 'No. Statistics. There can be no 'reincarnation' - there are no souls to be reborn. But eventually - by pure chance - someone will come along who'll embody everything that defines you.''

I agree with your whole thing on the Ukraine situation by the way. Didn't reblog lest it breach containment. But yeah, this is why I've been quiet on the whole thing myself. I have no idea what's going on and it's not my own country. Frankly, I don't think the US should be involved in any capacity. But I have no idea how anyone could see Putin as anything other than the ruthless, bloodthirsty tyrant he's proven himself to be.
I kind of feel like it makes sense to help Ukraine at least some but I am a believer in liberalism and the liberal world order, for its astonishing flaws, which is making me an increasingly unusual person
I mean, aside from all the other ways I am an unusual person
So I get backing them against Russia, but I also get at least some of the counterarguments I've seen even though I disagree

Omg I finally found a definition of a locale (in here) that just gives you some axioms as opposed to building it up in one categorical sentence like oo it's an object of the opposite category of complete Heyting algebras.
A locale is a partially ordered set (τ,≤) such that all finite subsets have a greatest lower bound (i.e. A ∧ B exists for all A, B ∈ τ) and all subsets have a least upper bound (so ⋁(i ∈ I) A_i exists for all families (A_i)_(i ∈ I) ⊂ τ), and these satisfy the distributivity condition A ∧ ⋁(i ∈ I) B_i = ⋁(i ∈ I) (A ∧ B_i). The set of all open subsets of a topological space always forms a locale (where the bounds correspond to intersections and unions).
A map of locales from (τ,≤) to (σ,≤) is a function σ → τ (yes, it goes the other way) that preserves finite greatest lower bounds and arbitrary least upper bounds. If these locales are the locales of open sets of sober topological spaces, then the maps between them correspond precisely to the continuous functions between the topological spaces.

Recently I travelled with the tram and started to draw the letter sculptures depicted on the cover of the of the book "Gödel Escher Bach".
... close enough...
It was a fun lil exercise.

(sorry for the Greek; we have to be sorry for the nationalization of a metaphysical worldview on their national flag and constitution; we should write texts about the UK, Indian, Swedish, etc. flags also)
== in Greek ==
== in English ==
the non-self-evidence of the self-existence and cosmogonicity of personhood, and the domination of logic over personhood without exo-prodecural (extra-prodecural) free will
===index===
* cosmogonicity: the cosmogonic ability; the ability to create worlds
* axiomatic prerequisites for physical foundations: a field of study hypernymic to the quantum foundations; related to Max Tegmark's computational universe and David Deutsch and Chiara Marletto's cosmological constructor
===notes===
Personhood is the result of a personhood-yielding computer [true brain] which has memories and modalities (see: Brodmann areas or other categorization; also [digital] program-based Brodmann-like subroutines). True personhood (non-philosophical-zombieness) simply requires extra modalities for extra cohesion (for example some midbrain structures do that, but not only), internal experiencing (the default mode network help the organisation of the information via self-interaction, memory consolidation, etc.), activation modes (a true person gets activated even without external inputs [of course external inputs are necessary to shape a healthy personality]).
Personhood isn't a simple axiom but instead it is the result of intricate personhood-yielding computers, which has memory-storing regions and many different data-processing modalities. A healthy evolution of personality (specific characteristics) within groups like family, school and society are necessary for fully-fledged personhood to be properly shaped and emerge. Personhood is gradient. Any functional or environmental problem if serious enough can impair it.
The personhood-yielding computer works according to logic. Logic here can be allomathematical. Allomathematics is a mathematics with different axioms than the common mathematics, but it's transcribable to mathematics (1. there isn't only one axiomatic system; there is no universal axiomatic system of finite size, 2. mathematics isn't tautological to physics, some people work on the axiomatic prerequisites for physical foundations; the foundations of mathematics have logical gaps which cannot be resolved in a general manner; on the other hand allophysics permits the existence of infinite universes; actually infinite allomathematics are possible, but that's a taboo topic for non-experimentalists).
Every axiomatic systems' formula = logical statement, is usually transcribable to different axiomatic systems (if they have enough complexity). When two axiomatic systems are overall transcribable to their foundational basis, it means they are the same axiomatic system. Most axiomatic systems aren't overall transcribable, instead they can be in a problem-by-problem basis. There is no universal axiomaticity = universal axiomatic system, not only because it would have to be nontrivially infinite, but because many axiomatic systems are mutually exclusive (you have to see experimental axiomatic systems and studies on the axiomatic systems).
The calculability and the constructor theory approaches are equivalent and can create layered/ stratified axiomatics/ axiomatic system trees.
The foundations of physics and allophysics works better as an algorithmic axiomatic system and not as an axiomatic list. Also algorithmoids = algorithm-like procedures which can internally evolve are an option (true algorithms are internally stationary).
see: ontoaxiomatic workarounds (the problems of the axiomatic systems: incompleteness, inconsistency and axiomatic incalculability cannot be all avoided in tandem, but there are procedures to manage them = partial revelation of information, procedural axiom-building, self-interactions, etc.)
_________
The supernatural is an impossibility because it lacks foundational specifics and it's only described through antiscientific vague empiricism and not rigorous logic.
Logic (allomathematical; of any logical possible [allo]mathematics = transcribable to common mathematics) is the basis of any possible personhood-yielding computer (biobrain, digibrain, etc.).
see: complex cluster of ANNs, Flexible ANNs, general GPUs and program-biased nongeneral GPUs, all used together to create a personhood-yielding computer (true brain) by mimicking the principles of the human brain (rigorous neuroscientific knowledge is required; missing a function impairs the degree of personhood of the digibrain)
