Sorry about the yuki fans ngl im really looking forward to how the yuki-daniel dynamic plays out? It's obviously not the ideal scenario because the environment has to be competitive given that i dont think either of them wants to stay at alphatauri (refusing to call them vcarb until i see a pretty livery), but also like as a duo i think yuki and daniel are hilarious and thats what i plan on focusing on as a fan of both

The way daniel is a younger sibling and yuki is an older sibling, but also daniel's f1 career started in 2011 while yuki was 11 years old and just starting to do karting professionally? That is comedic potential

Given that gap in experience i do believe that daniel is very likely to outperform yuki (i just don't think yuki can make up a gap of that much experience, like for perspective max and daniel were at rb together when yuki was starting f4 in 2016).

BUT no matter what i have faith that yuki will be incredibly respectful and kind about and to daniel. In scenarios where he was being beaten convincingly by a teammate (pierre) and performing well against an experienced teammate (nyck) he never failed to talk about how much he was able to learn and grow thanks to them. (He has earned my respect for being appreciative to liam, nyck, and daniel by crediting all of them with a lot of the success and growth he had last season and personally)

Ik most people are anticipating a lot of tension at alphatauri next season but honestly im looking forward to the daniel appreciation yuki will be serving in interviews (as well as him potentially picking up some aussi slang)

honestly Yuki and Daniel have been very complementary towards each other, each admitting how the other have helped them

honestly imo their goals are very different

yuki wants to stay in F1 (which I believe he will) and daniel wants to be promoted to rbr (which honestly does not consider Yuki as an option)

I genuinely do believe together the both of them will lift the team up this year. the dynamic between them and the team has a lot of potential, they work well together.

We’re Coming To Get You (1983)

This is the documentary the Glenn Shorrock song of the same name was written for, and for a while it looked like there were no copies of it online. But someone uploaded this one!

To my surprise, it’s not precisely a documentary about Australia II! It was created during the 1983 Challenger Selection Series and it covers all three Australian teams that were part of the competition that year— Australia II, Challenge 12, and Advance. And hey, who’s going to complain about getting to see THREE beautiful 12-Metres in action?

While filming wrapped before the America’s Cup itself, this documentary does have footage of the 12s practicing and competing in a special inter-team event in Australia, early-80s synth music, 18-Foot Skiff footage, delightful Aussie slang like “done a rocko”, the title song AND “Cool Change”, and a lot of people in shirtsleeves and ties.

Charlie just reposted a post on his IG story about a family doing quarantine olympics and its the cutest and coolest idea ever. So now I'm just imagining him and his gf doing that when she first meets his family or she already knows them so when theyre visiting for a bit, they play. Or I'm thinking the cast playing it when they have time off. Or Dad Charlie (and maybe Owen) playing. It just felt so cute and I could 1000% see Charlie buying everything and convincing everyone to play with him.

She’s very comfortable around him and likes getting cuddles from him when she can

If she can’t get to Ten after a night terror she tries to get Xiaojun without waking up Yangyang and they’ll sneak into her room and just talk until she or both of them fall asleep

She has this urge to out idiot him every time he does something dumb

Like stated before with Xiaojun they are touchy, these two are the clingiest though

These two are always touching, but not in a bad sense, like if these two are sat together, his head will be in her lap- vice versa or her legs over his legs etc

These two are also gym buddies, really because both are a little lazy but are also competitive but only around each other

Probably shipped together the most too because they always seem to be together and neither actually tease the other

YangYang

Oop it’s idiots time

These two don’t have a filter when left alone or with Ten - well to an extent

Remember that live where Yang said if he had a son he’d name the son Eleven

Yeah she was there and she was sitting in just utter confusion the entire time because she’d stopped listening until that point

Also that bit when he goes “anything can happen” imagine having Fei there sitting just behind them looking super confused as they turn and look at her- thanks you two you fueled rumours of her and Yang dating

Meeting the Family

Hello ☺ I was just curious,could you please do Jason with an Australian reader? And batfam meeting the snarky/sassy reader for the first time? Because of jet lag the readers accent and aussie slang is hard to understand but Jason can understand it since he’s around them more. If its to odd of a request i understand ☺ My accent gets thicker when I’m tired or just randomly when I’m not concentrating on it,my friends that aren’t Aussie sometimes can’t understand what I’m saying.😂

a/n: So much research went into this. If you don’t have siblings now you do. The part where the reader meets the batfam was changed because the slang confused me a ton while writing. Also if I don’t post the second part of ‘I hate you, I love you’ in the next two days be prepared for some angst.

“Who here knew that Jason Todd, the infamous Red Hood, has a girlfriend?” Tim said bursting into the cave with his phone opened on Snapchat.

“Oh, y/n, yeah we knew about her,” Dick said casually.

“Right aren’t they supposed to be in Gotham by now?” Steph added.

“I heard she’s from Australia,” Damian said while petting Batcow.

“And no one thought to tell me?”

“No,” they all said in unison. Tim sighed and walked to the computer to look you up. Not like he’s going to find anything incriminating.

Jason and you were on a taxi going up to Wayne Manor. You were nervous, it was your first time meeting your boyfriend’s family (besides Alfred and Bruce) and you didn’t want to mess this up.

“Doll,” Jason said taking your hands into his, “Calm down. They’ll love you.”

“How are you so sure?” you asked.

“If you could survive Alfred and Bruce you can survive a few hyperactive idiots,” he assured you.

“I hope so,” you sighed.

After a few minutes of sitting comfortably in silence, you arrived at Wayne Manor and your anxiety spiked up. Jason noticed this and hugged you. “Doll, if they do anything stupid I’ll stab them myself.”

“Don’t stab your brother’s Jason,” You said burying your face into his chest.

“Whatever you say.”

Jason broke the hug apart and took your hand and walked you up to the door. Before he could knock someone opened the door.

“Good morning Master Jason, Miss y/n,” Alfred greeted.

“Good morning Alfred,” you greeted as Jason sighed.

“I take it they all know?” Jason asked.

“Indeed, they are waiting in Master Bruce’s study.”

You and Jason walked in as Alfred directed you to Bruce’s study. You clung onto Jason’s arms afraid of him leaving you alone with his family. Right before you entered the room, Jason pulled you to side.

“Okay, I can tell you’re extremely nervous so how about we make a bet?”

“What?”

“Okay, so if you manage to get along with them and survive for a whole hour I’ll finally try the vegemite. If we leave early we do whatever I can come up with? Okay?”

You agreed not only because you wanted to see Jason’s expression after trying vegemite but because you two were extremely competitive.

Now to meet the family.

You had already met Bruce so that was fine

Damian was the first one to go greet you

I mean the kid asked you fifty thousand questions, all of them mostly involved kangaroos because you know stereotypes

He just really wanted a roo

Next up was Dick who was VERY excited to meet you

He asked you lots of personal questions and the only way Jason managed to stop him was by bringing in the topic of the ‘Drop bear’ which caught Damian’s interest.

Next was Tim, he had already searched you up so you two really didn’t talk at all

Cass, Steph, and Duke introduced themselves at the time it was cute

But apparently, you and Steph had alright met online which was funny

Duke asked you about the culture in Australia

During all of the conversations, Jason had to be a translator cause no one could understand you every time you used slang

Jet lag did wonders to your accent

It was funny

Cass was the only one (Besides Jason) who could understand you

After you guys left (three hours later) Steph, Duke, and Damian made it their goal in life to learn Australian slang

“I don’t want to do this,” Jason said pushing the dinner plate in your hands away.

“You lost now eat it.”

Jason hesitantly took the plate from you and studied the piece of toast. “Why on toast?”

“It’ll taste better trust me.” Jason looked at you then at the toast. You were trying to keep a straight face but honestly, you couldn’t. “Can we please not do this?”

“Jason!”

“Okay fine!”

He glared at the toast then quickly took a bite out of it.

“Well?”

“…………It’s not that bad. Why does everyone say it taste’s bad?”

“Cause everyone eats a freaking spoonful like its Nutella when you’re not supposed to.”

WHAT’S THE AUSTRALIAN WRITING AND PUBLISHING SCENE LIKE IN LESBIAN FICTION?

Australian publishing is small and tightly held and very, very competitive. For such a big country (think of the forty-eight contiguous US states with the corners rounded down), our entire population is a little bigger than Florida’s and a little smaller than Texas’s.  So as a market, we’re tiny. However, e-books have globalized publishing.  My stories have been published by small and large presses based in the US, Germany, Hong Kong, the UK, and Canada. Never by an Australian publisher.

I consider myself lucky that Ylva has a reasonably strong presence in the (e-book) Australian market, and also encourages writers to use their own version of English. So my Australian-based novels retain their Aussie spelling, grammar, and slang. That’s important to me.
