I just saw y the HYBE x Ithaca Holdings video and it really hit me with some realisations. HYBE partnering with them is bound to change some things in a huge way. Collabs and economics notwithstanding, Ithaca is home to NUMEROUS big name artists. I want to focus on the fact that: (1) Beiber is a heavily tattooed dude, I wonder if this fact will give some leeway for Kook to be a bit more free with his existing tatts or allow him to continue getting more. (2) Demi is an openly queer woman. This, along with how open Ithaca’s artists are with their support for the LGBTQ+ community, makes me wonder how it will influence HYBE artists who might be queer themselves (looking at Jikook 👀). I fully know that culturally Korea is its own thing and HYBE its own entity, but I think this might open up some doors for our boys both musically speaking as well as regarding their own selves. Dearest Goldy of mine, what do you think?

That's an interesting question.

I do agree that this provides a huge economic opportunity for BTS as a group and as investors in Hybe and for frankly anyone within Hybe labels- there's a lot of talents who would kill to be part of this company now. I just know it.

But I think you are basically asking if this new acquisition will in effect impact the lifestyle of BTS, specifically Jikook as queer people in any way?

I'd say no- especially on the issue of tattoos. But I might be wrong. I just think it takes more than a business merger to undo a person's lifestlye and or socialization or even influence it.

Unless of course, this merger guarantees them certain universal rights and protections outside their culture and political system I don't see how it's to profit them as queer people in any major way.

Whatever impact I'd say is rather intangible.

I've said a few times now how BTS by virtue of their presence in the international community, in my opinion, are socialized and are expected to be socialized a tad differently from the average regular conservative or even liberal S. Korean person with no external influences whatsoever on their socializations.

Your socialization informs your lifestyle.

Justin, Troye, RM and other artists have undoubtedly had and perhaps continue to have an influence on Jk musically and lifestyle wise, to some extent, but he has his own unique values and beliefs and morals that has been acquired and instilled in him through the years independent of these influences.

He is his own person afterall.

Plus did you see the arm sleeve on the director of the MV for Home? He is surrounded at the work place with people that are tatted too. It can't be just Justin B.

He saw a girl with tattoos and said that was something he'd love to have one day when he got of age and he got it- in spite of Suga's objection. He's always expressed interests in tattoos and wanting to become a tattoo artist.

He got these tattoos in spite of the inconveniences they pose to his expressions of self within his career and society- as tattoos are still pretty much stigmatized in S.K and aren't legally allowed on certain broadcasts within S. Korea. And he continues to add on them, draw over them etc way before this merger came into existence.

If he decides that's what he wants he will get them but it wouldn't be because Justin Bieber is heavily tatted or because his company expanded.

I'm not sure what you mean by leeway, but in a recent Run episode (the one with the famous chef) we saw his full arm out and I think that was the first time we had seen his tats on full display on run.

Contrastingly, he had his whole arm bandaged in the Let's BTS interview on KBS.

He covers his tattoos most times because of broadcast rules that prohibits (regulates) not just tattoos but alcohol consumption, cussing, nudity etc on public television that require specific ratings.

Merger or not he will still have to adhere to the laws of South Korea, including entertainment and media broadcasting laws and hide his tattoos as and where.

On the topic of queerness, I think now more than ever BTS would have to become socially, racially and culturally conscious and aware the instant this deal is concluded in May.

Ithaca has one of the most diversified group of artists under its belt- from Quavo who is black to Demi who is queer like you pointed out.

Now more than ever they are at the center of the global conversations we are having in our generation- from racism, to LBGTQ plus marginalizations, to all oppressions of minorities and minority groups.

And with that proximity comes a need to keep themselves in check now more so than ever- which include a check on the cultural appropriation bit, the queer baiting, drawing on queer aesthetics in their 'fan service' culture and other problematic issues that is characteristic of KPop.

What they do now matters more than ever- socially speaking of course.

When Jin started eating a lollipop JM gave him provocatively, JM asked him not to do that on camera but to reserve things like that for the group off camera.

If 'gay' is not gay but their 'culture' I think they know better to keep it to themselves off camera and act 'right' on camera- especially now.

I'm not about to stan a group that capitalizes on the trauma and oppression of me and my people in the name of entertainment. That's just tacky.

On the plus, I think it's great that they be surrounded by other queer folks in the business and be part of a community that welcomes and support queerness so they don't feel like they are the only ones.

That's not to say they aren't surrounded by queer people in their dialy lives.

I mean they have a large staff and I know damn well some of those staffers are queer as well- why wouldn't they be. Lol.

They've always had that 'supportive' environment to foster their relationship- well except for that one time a manager tried to bitch slap JK. Lol. Sorry.

It's not funny at all. Serious face.

They've always been free and loose in places outside Korea- Japan for one, to be themselves in certain 'controlled" areas of their lives.

I think if anything there's gonna be a focus on creating conducive and inclusive work environments and ethics for everyone not just queer people within the company at large.

I think Jikook can relate more, have certain essential conversations in the group, be exposed to and be part of the 'community' in a way that just felt so distant to them prior to the acquisition- in my opinion.

There is strength in numbers after all. Other than that those two companies might operate like night and day with a few eclipses in between.

The bigger question for me is how SK is going to react to Hybe as an international company from now on. No elite Korean company has openly admitted queer artists within their label. Such revelations presumably is bound to impact their social and economic standing...

Seems in acquiring Ithaca though Hybe have circumvented the conservative problem within Kpop and their culture as they have acquired openly queer artists.

Not that they care about an artist's sexuality. Bang have made it perfectly clear he prioritizes a person's talent over their sexual preference and thus hire artists based on their skills regardless of their sexuality.

But that is also not to say that the company wouldn't be met with harsh criticisms and suffer economic loss should they openly admit the sexuality of certain artists they work with.

I mean he did advise Jo Kwan on the risks he would be taking in going in the direction he wanted to go in with his heels schtick. So he is aware of the risks involved in going public with an artist's sexual orientation.

He talked about Korean companies playing it safe and not taking certain risks especially when it comes to deeds that are deemed 'rebellious' against the Korean conservative way.

-Watch and learn people, if you can't hire openly gay talents acquire their company. Problem solved. Lol.

From May, Hybe will technically officially become the first elite Korean company with openly queer artists under its labels that openly touches on and advocates for LGBTQ plus rights.

I'm waiting for Pride month with a cup of tea. Mu haha ha.

BTS has performed with queer artists in the past, dabbled in LGBTQ plus conversations which was mostly met with mixed reactions from the general public- some oblivious to who these artists were much less that they were queer. (Sis laugh with me. Hehe. If you know you know)

BigHit is gradually evolving the status quo.

It's an interesting development I must say, one I'm very much invested in at this point.

BigHit has always aimed beyond the borders of Korean commercial verse often straddling the line of conservatism, literally just became an international company within South Korea governed by both Korean and American laws that in all essence conflict with eachother morally and constitutionally.

Bang has some heavy balls I'll give him that.

Also, since this is an acquisition and not a merger I doubt if much will change in the structures of either company- the family photoshoots would be interesting to watch.

Imagine trying to get Arianna, Justin, BTS, TXT in one large studio for a photoshoot. I'm literally cackling. Lmho.

Scooter Braun will become part of the board of Hybe to manage the company and he is part owner of Hybe along with Justin, Ariana and BTS who also have shares in the company- until they decide to sell their shares that is.

That's about it.

I'm not sure how these Asian haters are gonna respond to an Asian company taking over 'America.' That's something to watch out for.

Then there's this whole issue of 'scandals' and both campanies view on it.

Western companies feed off chaos and drama and scandals, Kpop is the exact opposite.

Most of these Artists under Ithaca have had some pretty bad records and are prone to scandals and stuff like that. In case of an inevitable future scandal, the news would read 'BTS's so so and so.'

They are gonna make it all about BTS.

I mean when BigHit went public with their IPO and it went south it was all about BTS' 'failed IPO' in the news rather than the company it's self.

I have mixed feelings about this acquisition.

It's obvious BigHit is saving Justin Bieber's label. You don't sell unless you are in some huge financial decline blah blah.

Hybe is keeping them in business while building their own portfolio in the industry. BTS may not have a Grammy but Hybe has several artists with Grammys under it's belt now. Smirk.

The success of Justin, Ariana and all these artists are the success of Hybe which together with the powerhouse that is BTS gives Hybe more prestige- it's like watching the game of thrones but this time it's a bunch of nerds with chapsticks and Prada. Lmho.

At least now people will think twice before they peddle the 'they are not gay, it's their culture' nonsense.

You know how poison is one of the easiest way to get to royalty and they had testers for that specific threat?

Imagine if Kim one day gets roofied by some low level human traffickers who don't know the youngest Theerapanyakul brother by sight , while Kim was in his Wik-out-and-about socialising zone , completely unrelated to his usual mafia shenanigans?

Kim has a chipped tooth , but the chipping is inside , and very very small. It can't be seen and he won't get it fixed.

It's a souvenir from the very first time he defeated Chan on hand to hand combat. Even Chan doesn't know that, THAT hit, did so much damage.

Chay on the other hand , knows.

After their first kiss on his shaggy old couch , and the many more that followed that night , he could wax poetry about all the edges and softness of every single crevice on Kim's mouth. He had whimpered when it accidentally grazed his lips , and had grabbed onto Kim's shoulders at the time.

But after that one night Chay never got to kiss Kim again. He never saw the warmth in his eyes that melted and re-moulded his entire world. Not even when he begged in front of Kim to tell him some part of whatever they had , was true.

Afterwards when he tried to move on , when he tried to fall into the arms of strangers who creeped all over him lustfully , the kisses never made him * feel*.

They were just a way to distract the minds of these poor replacements , so they wouldn't notice how empty Chay's ministrations were. They always closed their eyes when they kissed , and so Chay's unsatisfied frown went by unnoticed. His anger at the reminder , the lack of friction when they tried to dominate him, only made him pull back to lead their attention elsewhere, which they mistook for throes of passion. Hopefully.

When Chay finally was picked up by Kim at Yok's bar one night , Kim was shocked seeing how very much Chay had to drink , and how lax the security around him had been , especially considering their ward had been inebriated. Chay could barely recognise it was Kim half-carrying him out of the bar. Porsche had mentioned to "Make sure Porchay is being safe , Yok called and said he's drinking now. I know , shocking!" , Kim hadn't expected to end up with whole armful of drunk lanky Chay with flushed face and pouty lips.

Kim decided then and there to take him to his penthouse to sleep it off, so he could lie to Porsche about how drunk he had been and maybe so noone else could see his Chay like that.

Once a slightly sobered up Chay took in the piano that stood against the backdrop of a starlit Bangkok skyline , he tearfully broke down and tried to push Kim's aid away.

Only for them both to end up on the rug overlooking the balcony , holding each other , Kim trying to bask in the aroma that was simply his Porchay , and Chay trying to claw his way into Kim's leather jacket.

Finally , finally; Chay got to taste him again , and his whimpers got louder each time Kim grazed his plump lips with that one chipped tooth.

Some vague part of Chay's consciousness revelled that it couldn't get better than this , for Kim to choose that moment bite his lips with full force and draw blood. Chay started to shake like a scared fawn when Kim's fingers climbed underneath his shirt and headed to his chest.

After they reunite , Kim begins to worship Chay like a madman. Chay had to beg , many times, to be gentler , go slower . That phi was his first.

Which made Kim all the more feral.

Afterwards Chay wakes up in his apartment with a massive headache .But it's the tense bliss deep , deep in his bones , which he brings to the forefront by taking an advil.

He tries to remember what had happened last night , but only gets till his brief excuses to the interested seniors who were eyeing openly, so he could get more of the free cocktails and jump around with his friends .

The stains on the sheets and the satisfied hum of his lower muscles give evidence to his lost virginity. It was a guy. He fucked sone guy he met at a party and had no idea who it was. What if it was his classmate? Or worse yet ......

What in hell would he do if it was a senior???

Problems for another day , he was already late to his morning lecture. Pulling out the sheets that were stained red at some places , he wondered if he should get new ones in the meantime.

Fresher's day and beach activities brought out more of Chay's talents. P'Roni was eyeing him up and down when he picked dare again and again - danced , carried one of his buddies bridal style , did handstand for 2 minutes and acted out as the possessive lead of a new drama.

Chay still didn't know . Was it P'Roni who spent the night with him? Did he remember it and was that why he felt his eyes on him all the time?

All of these thoughts came to a standstill when Kim walked into the glow of the campfire light.

As midnight approached and drinks flowed freely , music swelled and tensions mounted , Chay could feel , inspite of the haziness of the alcohol coursing through his body , how Kim was watching him.

Did he expect him to run and hide? To fade away to some corner or cry pathetically to cope? Fuck that. Kim wasn't going to drive him away from his own fresher's party. He would be treated as just any other senior . Nothing less , definitely nothing more.

Chay kept singing out loud with his friends , laughing and having fun , as one should , leaving Kim withdrawn and hunched by the fire , staring longingly , the bitemarks from days before tingling , making him shiver even in the warm breeze. The famous P'Wik had appearances to keep , helped only by the fragile smile plastered on his face , while his mind looped around thoughts of how a particular pair of eyes had looked at him that night . How those fingers strumming the guitar now , had made him moan uncontrollably when they pinched , rolled and rubbed out rolls of pleasure off of his chest , how those legs were working overtime to press and grind onto the place deep within him where he needed it the most. Or how those full lips and pearly teeth had painted his entire thighs purple and blue , that he had to pick full trousers instead of his favoured beach shorts.

Why did Chay seem so unaffected? Didn't he remember?

Was it only him who was reminded of it everytime he moved , every time he looked at himself in the mirror , or had to button up his shirt fully to the neck ???

What if Chay moves on from Kim and starts bringing over people from clubs and college parties to the minor family house ? He picks them carefully , he now knows how to , they're usually vaguely aware of who he is. They also know enough to not question the security surrounding him and his "house". He's learnt to protect himself from people who get close only with their selfish ulterior motives.

He's only young and in college once. He's gonna enjoy it goddamnit.

Except once when Kim comes over to the minor fam house at Kinn's request for "personally verifying the money leaks Porsche found out and see if he could update the security in any way possible while he's at it " , and he runs a *bit* late . Kim gracefully accepts Porsche's invitation to "crash opposite to Chay's room , that's where his friends stay over sometimes . Chay's my brother by the way, have you guys met?😄".

And Kim has to listen to Porchay and some ba**ard loudly make their way to Porchay's suite in what was so late at night that it was early in the morning , even by Kim's standards.

Pants , purrs . *Moans.* F#cking moans.

And thuds of flesh on the wall when they got too excited and tripped on the carpet. Laughs and giggles. Not a care as to who might hear.

Kim thought it would end once they got in the suite . Well he was wrong. He had to listen to every single whimper, shout and cry ; and finally understood why the maid explained how Khun Porchay prefers the entire floor to himself for his music usually .

He couldn't sleep even after it got fully quiet . He couldn't sleep for a long time after .

What if Chay moves on healthily because no matter the reason , Kim's actions were shitty? Ok how about if Chay goes to therapy to deal with the "murder cat leaving bodies in the bar" incident , and talks and figures out his shit with a mafia approved therapist (I'm looking right at you , the person who wrote the ff) , and she is adamant about boundaries and respect , trust and basic needs in a relationship ??

And Chay , being the good boy that he is , listens. And understands. And actively works towards bettering his mind . He understands what Kim did is wrong on many levels and also that he should never settle for less , that he should never throw himself away , or be sad over other people and their horrible behaviour.

And he rediscovers his passion for music , goes to the very same college , and focuses on his life.

Gets an internship, moves to the US , where they specifically ask him to stay because they'd love to have him full term. And he builds his own life there , Vegas and Arm keep him off the radar , and he lives his life almost normal. No involvement with the mafia on a surface level.

Porsche though , still cursing himself for undermining Chay's safety during the coup , makes him take self defence lessons. Which quickly progress to advanced defensive tatics, much to Porsche's shocked surprise. Porchay has particular penchant for throwing knives . He's been trying with axes these days , more damage and incapacitating, Chay says on facetime to a proud but worried Porsche .

Kim doesn't know about any of these. Any information he craves about Porchay would have to come from Tankhun , Kinn or Porsche , and it's not like he's on speaking terms with any of them . He could visit Tankhun and fish for gossip , but even he seemed very tight lipped about Chay and his US college life .

Had Chay asked them all to keep it quiet? Kim did try to track the transactions and Chay's daily bodyguard tail info. Even that was so heavily underground that the only thing he could be sure about was that Chay was alive . Was Chay ordering it be this way??

Till one day , Kim realises that the ever present tightness in his chest , the heartache when he hears Chay's old studio recordings , videos they filmed together and even the major family cctv footage from before he left , is all Kim has left of his love. Because yes , Kim did love Chay , and he was too much of a coward to say it openly ,to even admit to himself and now he wants to say it out loud to the entire world , but there's no one to hear it.

Meanwhile Chay only ever thinks about Kim in anger and hate over what he did , and pity for Kim's supposed reasons , but also derision at the fear those reasons were trying to hide. Only ever thinks about him when his music is on his mind , but that music no longer making the bridge towards love .

And after two years when he returns , Chay is Porchay Pichaya Kittisawad , a man who has lived content with his friends and lovers , grown into his role as the minor family heir : with eyes that could melt hearts and hands that could stop them.

Kim doesn't even get notified when Chay returns , and the news is unceremoniously dumped on him five minutes before Porchay is walking into the ballroom clad in his pristine navy suit, fluid even in his stillness , joking with Porsche and Kinn , looking every part the heir , that Kim suddenly fell short. He used to be the mysterious heir , who everyone gravitated towards. Noone was looking at him anymore. While the years made him grumpy and unapproachable , the same seemed to have bettered Chay , like the finest of wine.

He even looked different. No more the stumbling shy blushing kid , he stood tall , taller than Porsche , and was making smalltalk with the snakes who Kim had threatened for trying to monopolise the profits last month , with the air of a prince meeting his long lost distant relatives.

The more Kim watched him , the more his confidence shrunk. Maybe he could make himself known after a few guests leave.

Porchay caught his eye at that exact moment , stopped and stared , then smiled at him and raised his glass.

Kim bowed his head slightly and turned away. He had lost track of whatever conversation he was pretending to be a part of.

He had to excuse himself to the bathroom to get his bearings and there , the gilded mirror pointed out the unwelcome red dusting his cheeks. His eyes looked overly bright and he looked like he'd run a mile.

Had Porchay forgotten everything?? The silent touches , the night spend cuddling , the days spent making music together , did they mean nothing to him anymore?? Maybe he doesn't want his brothers to notice anything. Of course he definitely hasn't told anyone anything because Kim would've known from Porsche , for sure, if he had.

Maybe Porchay wanted to keep things on the down low. Maybe they'll talk after the guests leave and he'd slip back into the old comfortable familiarity. Right now ,he was anything but familiar. And it didn't feel comfortable when Porchay looked at him so casually.

There was no longer that twinkle in his eyes for Kim , that used to be only reserved for him.

Porchay was lounging on the couch by the kitchen , drinking juice straight out of the carton , Porsche sitting with his feet on his lap and torso supported on Kinn's when Kim entered. Tankhun was taking the other couch all to himself while paying strict attention to whatever Porsche was saying. They looked every bit the picture of family , that Kim suddenly felt like *he* was the outsider.

That he was the one who was introduced into this less than 3 years ago , and he was the one who had went away for two of them .

When his entry caught everyone's attention , tankhun patted the seat next to him and offered him a smile , which Kim returned while he lowered himself by his brother's side. He could easily fall into the conversation that resumed, about music , business , gossip they'd missed , bodyguards who joined , vegas, pete and macau and even little Venice.

After they all left tired to their rooms , Kim wondered if Chay would pay him a visit that night. He couldn't sleep till sunrise , but Chay still didn't show up.

Chay goes to Wik's fanmeet and sees Kim in cat ears and a black leather choker .

Later when he performed on stage he wore his crop top and suit ensemble, along with the God awful choker.

He had never in his life had to hide an awkward boner with so many people around , but luckily noone was looking at him.

After the session ended , he found Kim in the vanity while he was just about to take off the choker after removing his rings.

Chay took Kim's hand in his own , turning him around in his chair to kiss the blood red glossy lip that Kim had yet to remove. "Can you keep it on till we reach the compound?" Chay asks , Kim turns around and looks at Chay's flushed cheeks and bright eyes in the mirror , and Chay leans down to kiss Kim's neck.

Porchay wakes up from the cloudy mattress to the sounds of Kim rummaging around in their bathroom stall. He didn't know when he had fallen asleep. He dug around for the cell phone that he'd fallen asleep holding in his hand. 3:44 am. Well only an hour then.

He slowly climbed out and made his way to the bathroom , to find a half undressed Kim carefully going over his bruised knuckles with a cotton ball dipped in antiseptic solution. His lower arms were blackened here and there and the hand he held the cotton was covered in soot and grime.

Porchay sauntered over in his bunny slippers , and embraced Kim from behind . Finally. He felt the weight lift from his stomach. Kim was home.

Kim turned around and stared for a long second at Porchay's sleep filled chocolate eyes , looking like he'd drown in them , shower be damned and then took his full lips in a kiss. Porchay's nose puckered.

"I smell fire." Porchay whispered while laying his heavy head on Kim's shoulder. It was getting more difficult to tuck himself under Phi's chin now. Well , too bad he'd keep trying .

A smile started blooming on Kim's face when he felt Porchay sagging lightly onto him . His bambi is of course tired. He'd been merciless last night. Well , last week since he returned from tour to be fair. He needs rest .

Next morning (or well,later that day)Chay found himself tucked into Kim's side when the morning alarms rang. He stared up at Kim , only to find him already awake and watching him. "Ugh , don't you sleep?"

He then rushed to the bathroom to brush his teeth leaving a giggling Kim staring with mischief in his eyes at Porchay's aversion to kisses with morning breaths.

Once Chay joins college , he's an impeccable student. He brimmed with all the youthful beauty that would put Michelangelo's David to shame , but that wasn't the reason why he rose to fame within the campus.

Always sunny , kind and helpful , respectful towards his seniors and bettering his music every day , practicing late and being a perfect little gentleman to the ladies ,there were only the spoilt jealous few who despised him. Although they teased him , tried some light catcalling , they never had the nerve to go further somehow.

Maybe it was the air of money that hung around Chay - the expensive watch(es) , the charcoal black masserati that looked suspiciously customised which came to pick him up twice, the number of limited edition guitars he seemed to "borrow from a rich cousin" , and something that looked like a crest on his dailywear ring that looked like it was made from 'old money' gold.

Till one day the bully numero uno of the campus spots Chay heading to the men's bathroom alone while classes were still in full swing , looking all jittery. Come to think of it , the perfect new junior with his perfectly gelled hair and perfectly buttoned up shirt and black tie that he wore every. single. day. -looked sweat soaked. Even from this distance.

Smelling the secret in the air , bully#1 decides to follow him after excusing himself from class , and reaches in time to witness a very distracted Porchay pulling at his collar to loosen his tie , while simultaneously trying to wet his face from the steady stream of water from the faucet. He seemed so out of it that , the one who came to sneak up on him doubted if he needed to inform the med wing about a possible addict??

Till he witnessed the model of perfection and the best student Anantrameka had to offer in it's current academic year , pull off his uniform necktie , and pop the few top buttons of his white shirt loose to breathe heavily. In his haste to get water all over his face , Porchay accidentally dropped his necktie to the floor , but when he leaned to pick it up later on , he staggered on his feet...

Only for the senior to catch him.

Phawan looked a bit more closely at Porchay , and now that he thought about it , he did seem pale.But what sent the alarm bells blaring was how his alabaster neck was covered with finger shaped bruises , with something that looked very similar to bite marks breaking skin in between. And yep , he was buring up with fever.

He looked like he was mauled by a bear. Seriously , was this kid being abused at home???

That was only about as far as ge got with his thought process because two long haired men blasted through the doors to the bathrooms -

One with the ponytail , wearing a well fitted black suit that he could've sworn he's seen somewhere , pulled him back towards the stalls while simultaneously, the other one pulled a barely conscious Porchay onto his lap.

His eyes shifted from Porchay's half exposed chest to the man who was now kneeling on the dirty bathroom floor checking for a pulse on the purple tinted neck. He wasn't looking at him , but the man , clad head to toe in black- black sleeveless tank , black jeans ,black boots and black as midnight hair - was prodding and poking at Porchay , the curtain of his long hair hiding his face from phawan's view.

Before he realised , he was forcefully guided out of the bathroom , and could no longer hear the drip of water from the faucet.
