Oh gosh, ahahaha! A pre-Facade and pre-Deciphering little comic I did last year :D Gee, I remember I was testing out what type of art-style I prefer for drawing gay lawyers. I’ve tried a really cringy soft brush one, a sweet yet not challenging cell-shading one, and then looked if I could paint a fanart with Photoshop watercolor brushes, would I feel comfortable with it. Aaaaaaaaaaaand right after that I’ve started writing Facade~!

I've been very normal about @arainmorn-art's narumitsu comic, Deciphering

(Seriously though, I've been screaming about it to my friends on discord for a few days now. It's so good)

Anyways, I decided to sketch some of my favorite panels from chapter 1 (and one from chapter 2) 👉👈

(You can click the images to read Feen's thoughts better. I was too lazy to draw backgrounds)

I'll be honest, I was planning on drawing my favorite panels from the entire comic so far, but it very quickly became a lot (because the whole thing is amazing). So if I do end up drawing all of them, I will probably take it a chapter at a time. For my own sanity.

Just some sillieness from the last year, when I just played Apollo Justice x) Also I was testing my Samsung Galaxy for drawing watercolor comic. Its watercolor sucked, but the lineart was worth to practice. I'd say it still took me several months to feel actually confident with it.

Mr Nix from Kit's AU is our Phoenix (oh my god, who could have guess!!!) disguised as superhero to help Edgeworth with the most dangerous crimes, but also shamelessly flirt with him, as, according to Superman's and Tuxedo Mask's precepts, a one accessory on the 1\4 of your face can hide your entire personality XD

Kit asked me to use my cartoony style for it and I was happy to deliver!

Deciphering is a detective surrealistic love story about our loveable walking disaster of an ex-attorney trying to confess to his best friend prosecutor. The story also touches sensitive topics as: alchoholism, suicidal ideation, psychological and physical abuse, depression and self-sabotage. And a murder, of course. It is a detective story too after all.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh the cringe is strong here x') This is my very first Wrightworth artwork from the beginning of 2022. Oh man, I can't x) My struggles with their anime hair are so visible here. And how I didn't know what painting style I want to use. And how to altogether merge my strange artstyle with Ace Attorney's. Aaaaaaah okay, that was a first step to Facade and Deciphering comics XD

It was drawn right after 2-4 case, because YES, "unnecessary feelings" were not enough for me to actually ship these two. I understood the feelings as, I guess, the writer intended: Edgey's fear of changing, so romantic way of seeing them was a bit of a reach for me. And altogether I thought Ace Attorney was a very silly game without any drama, I've took it seriously only after von Karma's case. In 1-5 I've started to really like Edgeworth. Him helping Wright was just... just... uwu :3. And his final speech in 2-4, when he told how he trusts Phoenix, became a moment when it all clicked. And mind you, since 2012 to 2022 Wrightworth is the first malexmale couple I am seriously shipping, as in that decade it was girlxgirl only. And, heh, these guys helped me to accept that I am not a lesbian, but bi, but that's another story with deeper reasons x)

P.S. In 2-4 the moment when Edgeworth pressed Adrian was so powerful for me. It showed how ruthless and tough Edgeworth is, how he is a lot more of an antihero, than a regular hero - and also how he is merciless not only towards others, but also himself. P.S.S. Edgeworth's stupid hair here is killing me.

Yeah, I'm nostalgic. Yes, I decided to show my old comics x) A little known fact about me is that I'm also a Morrowind fan. Not Oblivion, not Skyrim, not The Elder Scrolls as a whole, but Morrowind specifically. Who understood the Molag Bala reference, good for you x)

In late 2015, I participated in a canceled zine based on the TES comics. In a week, I drew this comic about Nerevar and Vivek's quiet evening (no script, no storyboard, because I was a rushing moron). When I was reading Vivek's 36 lessons, the phrase that he's a "magical hermaphrodite" inspired me to draw him as, well, an androgynous elf with boobs x) The subject of hermaphrodites and androgynity really inspired me at the time. Oh, and Nerevar being a guardian for a little Vivec, hnnnnnnnnn. It makes his final even more painful x') It also amazes me that I draw the same character types years after years. Gosh.

Though Miles is a changed man now, I believe, the burden of guilt will never leave him. While he still was a fierce Demon Prosecutor there were lots of people he brought to “guilty” verdict and he can’t be sure all of them weren’t falsely accused. And how many innocent people have died being brought to death convict because of him. Oh, and elevators. And more death. At least the thoughts about it.

I’ve told you on previous pages we’ll see the trauma. Yeah, it’s severe. And surreal. But I felt I want to draw it this way. Yes, it’s debatable whether Miles was suicidal or not, and for a long time I thought he wasn’t... until I’ve reconsidered everything happened to him. He might at least have such thoughts. “Miles Edgeworth chooses death” and disappearance for a year meant something, it was not a joke or being dramatic. He is too serious to be theatrical, but also too stoic to admit anything aloud (that’s why I’ve decided to show his thoughts and feelings only visually). But he also is a person with remarkably strong will. And he learned how to live with his guilt to help other people. And to not repeat his past mistakes. His blind belief in justice was such a clear projection of him seeking punishment for himself as Miles thought he was his father’s murderer, I don’t understand, why we don’t speak more about it. He was so brutal to others as he was brutal to himself. And who taught him to be kinder, ey? Kinder to others and kinder to himself? No, I have no clue :)

But it’s a long journey to treat yourself kindly enough. Miles is still ruthless to himself, as you’ll see later.

And yeah, I love the contrast between Edgeworth softly looking at Wright and the nightmarish hell he is surrounded with. Deciphering - a story about two friends solving a murder case and finding out a true nature of their relationship. Based on Ace Attorney.

“Facade” is an important and very dear little fancomic to me. Finishing it made me realize how happy I am doing what I initially dreamed to do - telling my own stories. Not working for big foreign studios, not chasing the same dream many artist have, working abroad, not trying to fit myself in the industry’s standards. I want to create. I want to tell touching heartwarming stories. To create my own art. I don’t need anyone else to feel fulfilled. I want to be myself. After “Facade” I’ve decided to finally become a comic artist and started another comic. It is also based on Ace Attorney, as I wanted to explore how this two, Miles and Phoenix, could end up together. It is called “Deciphering”.

Pages 5-9, 10-13 “Facade” was a first comic I’ve created this year between the beginning of April and end of May. I’ve played Ace Attorney trilogy a couple of month before that and wanted to draw something sad yet touching about one of my favourite characters from it - Miles Edgeworth. I was also deeply sad, numb and felt empty because of my surroundings, crashed illusions and dreams.
