"Some 3DS friends" (2021)
Tumblr media
From December 2021. Tried to mimick the artstyle of a couple of 3DS characters I like. The 3DS was released a bit more than a decade ago and the nostalgia is getting bigger and bigger, evidenced by the fact that this is my most popular tweet lol
by the way, three dee ess dot hacks dot guide

Arle Nadja
Pit: Is this a lost little kid? What's the little blob things she's throwing around? Palutena: Those are Puyo, and that little kid is Arle! She's a talented little mage who's best friends are Carbuncle, Ringo, and Amitie. She can even commune with the Puyo and understand their innermost thoughts. Viridi: So... What in the world is a Puyo? Pit: They look kinda edible, like a gummy. Viridi: I wouldn't eat that. Palutena: Edibility of the Puyos aside, you should be focusing on Arle. Even though she's a talented mage, she can even more powerful with her Diacute spell! That boosts the power and range of her other spells, and even increases the amount of Puyos she can throw around! Pit: So she can make herself stronger mid-fight? Thanks for warning me! ...And what do the Puyos do? Palutena: I dunno. Viridi: HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW?!
Mr. AR
Pit: Woah! A cube! Palutena: That's Mr. AR. You might recognize him from when you were playing around with those little cards with your 3DS, Pit. Pit: Hm... Wait, I think I recognize him now! Hey, Mr. AR! It's been a while! Viridi: AR? Palutena: Augmented Reality. Imagine you hold up a camera to your bedroom, and you see something through the camera that isn't there in reality. Viridi: ...You are describing a ghost. Pit: Wait... Is Mr. AR... DEAD?! Palutena: He's not dead, Pit, but you'll want to watch out for when he turns purple. That's his Dark Flip move, and it'll change the properties of all his moves. He's a bit like two fighters packaged in one!

The day has shortened a lot since I came back to Canada so it’s about 3-4 days for my Groups of Pikmins to return home to me.😄
メキシコからカナダに戻ってきたら、ピクミン達の帰還が数ヶ月から結構日数が減った。😄

But accidentally I sent a group of Pikmin back to Mexico to retrieve a fruit so it will be a 2-3 month travel for them to march to there and back home.😓

I feel like I think way too hard about video games too much.
For example, in place of healthy sleep, I spent part of last night thinking about a potential Smash moveset for Mr. AR of all things.
Tumblr media
And healthy sleep this night screaming this post into the void.
#super smash bros#nintendo 3ds#ar games#okay so how this happened#a while back i was thinking about all those “adding a boss/stage/fighter/etc from each playable franchise” videos on youtube#and since things like ice climbers duck hunt and especially r.o.b. are so limited#i considered lumping the more isolated franchises into “legacy” and “console” representatives#legacy for characters that specifically rep old games#(ironically ice climbers are the only character you can't argue out of this one defeating the purpose of the exercise)#and console for characters representing specific consoles or periferals#wii fit for the balance board#duck hunt for the nes zapper#g&w for the g&w#r.o.b. for himself#that way there's more variety in what bosses or stages or whatever could be chosen#and i thought#“hey what if they added more console reps to make it a distinct class”#then i thought mr. ar for the 3ds in general#and now i'm here#if you're still reading this:#down special is fishing on a loop of various different fish with different effects a la peach's forward smash or sora's neutral special#aerials all involve summoning different face raiders in different patterns#neutral special comes from archery#up special is him *being fished up* via the fishing rod#up smash is summoning a character from an ar card as a statue before immediately fading away#down smash has him turn into a ball like one of the effects in the drawing mode and slam down with a shockwave#forward smash uses the bird from the clock#final smash summons the dragon boss that's in several ar games and acts kinda like bowser's in ultimate#forward special grabs throws and tilts are all a mystery to me#okay goodnight

The 3DS AR Games: Portable Pioneers
Augmented reality was one of the biggest touted features of the 3DS when it launched, and while the AR Games that were built into the system offered some nice timewasters and early memories, it didn't seem to be used a lot for other games. But does it mean it's just a forgotten bit of history...or an unsung early pioneer of the technology? This was an incredibly fun video to make, and I hope it gives you a newfound appreciation for this feature of the 3DS!

How Does Virtual Reality(VR) Enhance Immersive Storytelling in Movies, Documentaries, and Virtual Tours ?
Tumblr media
Understanding Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality (VR) has ushered in a new era of immersive fabrication, allowing individuals to step into narratives and providing a level of engagement and interactivity that was previously unimaginable. This comprehensive exploration delves into how VR enhances immersive fabrication in film, education, and virtual tours, reshaping the art of storytelling.
Understanding Virtual Reality
Before delving into the transformative power of Virtual Reality in fabrication, let's begin with an introductory understanding of what VR entails. Virtual Reality is a technology that creates computer-generated surroundings, simulating physical presence in either real or fictional worlds. It generally involves headsets or goggles to immerse users in the digital realm, enabling them to interact with their surroundings.
Key Components of VR
Head-Mounted Display (HMD): The device worn on the head to display the virtual terrain, usually including lenses for each eye and sensors for tracking head movements.
Immersive Audio: 3D audio systems that produce spatial sound, enhancing the sense of presence in the virtual world.
Stir Tracking: Sensors and cameras that track the user's movements, allowing them to interact with and navigate the virtual space.
Interactive Controllers: Handheld devices that enable users to manipulate objects in the virtual world.
VR opens up a world of possibilities by immersing users in entirely new realms, making it a potent tool for immersive fabrication.
VR in Immersive Fabrication
Virtual Reality has introduced a revolutionary shift in the art of fabrication, enabling creators to immerse audiences in narratives in previously unattainable ways. This section explores how Virtual Reality enhances immersive fabrication in filmmaking, education, and virtual tours.
Immersive Cinematic Exploits
VR filmmaking takes traditional moviemaking to an entirely new level by providing a fully immersive cinematic experience. Users are no longer passive observers; they are transported inside the narrative, able to look around and interact with their surroundings.
360-Degree Fabrication
VR filmmaking often uses 360-degree cameras to capture the entire scene, allowing spectators to explore scenes as if they were physically present. This technology eliminates the need for traditional film editing and empowers spectators to decide where to focus their attention, creating a personalized experience.
Interactive Plotlines
Some VR films incorporate interactive elements, allowing users to make decisions that affect the story's progression. This interactive narrative approach adds a sense of agency and engagement, making the fabrication experience more personal.
First-Person Perspective
Virtual Reality films provide a unique opportunity for spectators to witness real-world events from a first-person perspective. This immersive approach is particularly impactful for films that cover humanitarian issues, environmental initiatives, or nonfictional events.
Deep Immersion
VR films often use 3D audio and spatial sound to plunge spectators deep into the story. This creates a strong emotional connection between the audience and the subject matter, making the experience more poignant.
Education and Empathy
VR films serve as valuable tools for education and empathy-building. For example, a VR documentary on the Syrian refugee crisis can teleport spectators to a refugee camp, offering a deeper understanding of the human impact of the crisis.
Virtual Tours
Realistic Exploration
VR virtual tours enable users to explore real-world or fictional locales with a high degree of representationalism. This is particularly valuable for tourism, real estate, and architectural visualization.
Time Travel and Historical Recreation
Virtual tours can transport users to historical periods or ancient societies, allowing them to witness history firsthand. This is a valuable tool for education and cultural preservation.
Interactive Learning
Virtual tours can include educational elements such as guided commentary, historical data, and interactive quizzes, enhancing the learning experience.
Challenges and Considerations
While Virtual Reality offers provocative possibilities for immersive fabrication, it also presents a set of challenges and considerations:
Cost: Producing high-quality VR content can be expensive, requiring specialized equipment and expertise.
Stir Sickness: Some users may experience stir sickness while using VR, limiting the audience's reach.
Specialized Conditions: VR experiences often require significant hardware, such as high-end PCs or gaming consoles, which may not be accessible to all users.
Content Length: Creating engaging VR content that maintains user attention for extended periods can be challenging. Prolonged VR use can be fatiguing.
Accessibility: Ensuring that VR content is accessible to people with disabilities is essential for inclusive fabrication.
VR Technology Advancements
As VR technology continues to evolve, we can anticipate several advancements that will further enhance immersive fabrication in filmmaking, education, and virtual tours.
Advanced Accessibility
Ongoing developments in VR hardware will result in more accessible, user-friendly, and affordable devices, making VR more attainable for a broader audience.
Advanced Resolution
Enhanced display technology will provide sharper and more realistic visuals, enhancing the overall VR experience.
Reduced Stir Sickness
Innovations in stir shadowing and refresh rates aim to reduce stir sickness, making VR more comfortable for users.
Content Creation Tools
The availability of user-friendly tools for VR content creation will enable a broader range of storytellers to craft immersive experiences, fostering creativity and diversity in fabrication.
Wireless VR
The shift towards wireless VR will provide users with greater freedom of movement, making VR fabrication even more immersive.
Case Studies
To illustrate the transformative power of Virtual Reality in immersive fabrication, let's explore some compelling case studies in each sphere.
Film: "Gnomes & Goblins"
"Gnomes & Goblins" is a VR movie directed by Jon Favreau, known for his work on "The Jungle Book" and "Iron Man." The movie invites users into a magical forest inhabited by fairies and goblins, allowing them to interact with the creatures and explore the enchanted world. The experience combines elements of fantasy, adventure, and immersion, redefining the cinematic experience.
Documentary: "The Displaced"
"The Displaced" is a New York Times VR documentary that takes spectators into the lives of three children who have been displaced by war and conflict. By providing a first-person perspective on the refugee experience, the documentary aims to evoke empathy and raise awareness about the global refugee crisis.
Virtual Tours: Matterport
Matterport is a company that specializes in creating 3D and VR virtual tours of real estate properties. Their technology allows users to explore homes, apartments, and commercial spaces as if they were physically present. This technology has transformed the real estate industry by providing a realistic and immersive way to view properties.
