Talkin mcd werewolves

I always had such a spot spot for the mcd werewolves. Specifically, I really liked how they didn’t go down the Twilight route, keeping traditional anthro and scary designs and not doing Alpha bs (cough cough mystreet).

That being said, the werewolves felt kind of poorly defined to me, the tribes were more like plot devices, appearing and vanishing without any real discussion of the impact. The fact that Bodolf’s tribe was hardly mentioned in season 2 I think shows that they ran out of ideas for the werewolves.

Luckily my brain is absolutely overflowing with ideas about them, so here’s my redesigns and thought process:

To anthro or not to anthro?

While I really liked the choice of anthro werewolf designs, I absolutely suck at drawing anthros. It also felt weird doing that for child characters, I know the series kept kids as normal wolves but does that mean werewolf puberty involves an awkward transition from animal to anthro? It just kind of Icked me out, so I’ve decided to keep all werewolves as full wolf transformations. Unlike twilight though, I’ll be largely referencing Wolfwalkers.

Tribes

I know the series had four tribes, but so far I’ve only needed three for the story. If I ever need more tribes, I’ll add more. I haven’t named them yet either, so I’ll denote them by color for now.

Red Wolves

Og wolf tribe, led by Bodolf and Khira. Wolves in this tribe are smaller than the other tribes, with shorter limbs, tails, and muzzles. They have light patches on their muzzles, above the eyes, and on their paws. Brown and Amber eyes are most common.

Brown Wolves

Yip’s destroyed tribe, and also the type Logan was turned into, hence Yip bonding with him so quickly. They are the largest and stockiest wolf tribe, with wide muzzles and short ears. They have lighter markings under their eyes, on their chests, and the underside of their tails. Green and hazel eyes are most common.

White wolves

Fenrir’s tribe. Medium-sized, but thin and lithe, almost more fox-like than wolf. Large ear tufts, neck ruffs, and tails make them look larger than they are. They have dark markings inspired by huskies. Blue and grey eyes are most common.

All tribes, despite size difference, are significantly larger than actual wolves, and most adults werewolves outweigh the average human.

Werewolf Creation

Werewolves can be born by having one or two werewolf parents. They can also be created by being bitten by a werewolf while in wolf form. The person will become the same tribe as the wolf that bit them. Children’s marking will usually follow basic genetics, but those bitten can develop markings independent of the appearance of the wolf that bit them.

Transformation

Transformations, like in Wolfwalkers, are astral projections. The person does not physically transform, rather their consciousness leaves their body and manifests as a wolf. This most often occurs during sleep, but anything that causes a “disconnect” between mind and body can also cause the transformation. So being knocked unconscious, meditation, or sufficient intense emotion will also do the trick.

Communication

Werewolves in wolf form can still understand spoken language, but they cannot be understood by humans. Werewolves in human form can still understand werewolves in wolf form.

Injury

While transformed, the two forms are still linked. Injuries sustained to either form will transfer to the other. In the same way, so long as one body is being sustained, the other does not have sustain itself. Since the body is technically resting, the wolf does not need sleep, and so long as the wolf hunts, the body does not need food. Hypothetically, werewolves can remain transformed indefinitely. However, there are risks associated with this.

Lost werewolves

In the past, Werewolves were occasionally used in blood sport and hard labor. A massive beast of human intelligence that never needed sleep? It was easy to see why fighting arenas and military generals were eager to capture werewolves and use them for their own gain. Sometimes, they would manage to escape, but they no longer knew where their bodies were. Being separated from their bodies for long periods of time would essentially cause them to go feral. These “lost werewolves” are essentially immortal, the strength and instinct of a wolf combined with a faded but still present human cunning, and no need for sleep. The stigma of werewolves as dangerous is mostly due to the few cases of attacks by lost werewolves. This is what happened to Logan, and also what destroyed Yip’s tribe.

Leaders

No alpha crap in my version, we’re following actual wolf behavior with a leading couple. I don’t necessarily think the tribe is a fully related family unit like wolf packs, bringing new people into the tribes is actually quite common, but most of the tribes definitely follow the idea of “they are our leaders because they take care of us” not for any strength/bloodline reasons.

Now onto the werewolf characters I have so far!

Bodolf and Khira

Leaders of the red wolves. Both have equal authority, though are quite different in their beliefs. Bodolf is more open to working with humans, whereas Khira is less trusting, and unless a human is joining their tribes wants very little to do with humans.

Logan

Turned after an attack by a lost werewolf. Initially struggles with accepting this new part of himself, but becomes more comfortable with support from Donna and Yip. Gains his leader mark after fully accepting his role as Yip’s guardian. His growing family kind of symbolizes the regrowth of a tribe that was almost wiped out.

Yip

Last surviving member of the original brown wolves. Was taken in by Donna and Logan while they searched for his tribe, and more importantly, his body. Eventually Logan and Yip find the ruins of Yip’s tribe, and after an epic showdown with the lost werewolf that turned Logan and attacked Yip’s tribe, are able to bring Yip’s body home.

Leona

Child of Kiki and Zane. Initially human, she was born very weak, and Zoey didn’t have much hope she would survive. Desperate, Kiki took her to the Red Wolves, hoping that turning Leona would give her the strength she needed to make it through. Bodolf was out, so Kiki had to plead to Khira, who has never been fond of her. Khira initially refused, as she had no idea what effects turning a child would have. She also insisted that if she did it, Leona would have to stay with the tribe. Kiki was able to convince her otherwise, and Khira begrudgingly agreed to turn Leona. The turn was successful, and Leona’s health improved, though she has some developmental delays and stunting.

Donna

Le gasp, a significant shift from canon! Not entirely sure if I want her to become a werewolf, but at the same time it would be incredibly cool and give her something else to do in season 2 besides generic mom. If she is turned, it was either an accident by Rollo/Lello, or she intentionally had Logan turn her. She gets her leader mark at this point.

Rollo and Lello

Identical twins, both in human and wolf form. It can be difficult to tell them apart while transformed, though their personality differences make it clear who’s who very quickly. Rollo is energetic and playful, while Lello is more reserved.

Fenrir

Prince of the White Wolves. Unlike the other tribes, during the timeskip his tribe has adopted many human practices. They live in a more traditional kingdom, and have more traditional power structures. For example, Fenrir’s mother has significantly less power than his father, and lacks the leader mark. Fenrir recognizes the problem with his tribe’s new practices, but doesn’t stand up to his father. He is kind, but also cowardly, and when push comes to shove his loyalty stays with his family. Takes the role of leader after his father is killed by Laurance.

Aphmau Diaries rewriter-ers/AU creators, what are y'all thoughts about Leona? I think we can agree that the whole baby amulet and Zane's motive for it (if any) is clearly just because Jess wanted another baby subplot in s1. However in my current time in my rewrite i'll have no reason to add Leona to the plot because It just wouldn't make sense in the narrative or for the way I'm writing Zane, so im just asking what are y'alls opinions on the conondrum? ToT

In MCD s1, we're told that werewolves are dangerous brutes who are aggressive, but then we're shown how level-headed Bodolf is, how the western wolf tribe actively helps Aphmau and how they're genuinely good people. We even have a sweet arc where Donna accepts Logan for being half-werewolf and they both adopt Yip (who's the only surviving werewolf member of a GENOCIDE). S1 actively subverts the expectation of werewolves being dangerous or stupid, they're equals to their human cast members. ... Then S2 Ep72 (0:30—2:05) happens where Aphmau and Zoey are being fucking racist to Yip where the following conversation ensues:

It's even worse with Mei'fwa with how in PDH, Aphmau was asking Kai if he could go 'Nya!' to him or if Mei'fwa called the bathroom 'the litterbox' because MCD had an arc in Nahakara Village where Aph was discriminated against being a Mei'fwa. Also Kaitlyn being a canonical racist against werewolves cus they beat up her brother?????? I know jack and shit about whatever the hell happened to MyStreet beyond S3, but hearing about Aph's mom having a race kink is ಠ▃ಠ Like, oh my fucking god these microaggressions are awful, and I HATE how they're being played off as jokes because its so discomforting as a POC. I wanna talk about titles and names for things in my MCD au/rewrite

This may be long, you’ve been warned

First and foremost Lord Lady and Sir:

In my universe, it was generally uncommon (though not unheard of) for a woman to be the head of a village until Aphmau. If a woman was the head of a village she would be called Lady (her name) and never Lord (her name). Aphmau was the first woman to call herself Lord, and since then it became customary.

Though there are other reasons someone may be called “Lady”. If they are the wife of a Lord, a high or head knight/guard, or if they are someone of great importance. For example, Lady Katelyn the Firefist and Lady Azura of Bright Port. While Katelyn is a member of the Jury, Lady Katelyn the Firefist is her official title, but when she is stripped of her rank, that title is taken as well and she became just Katelyn. Azura being head guard of Bright Port gives her the title of Lady Azura.

And finally, Sir. Similarly to Lady, Sir is the title given to male head guards. While Garroth is head guard of Phoenix Drop, he is known as Sir Garroth of Phoenix Drop. While Laurance is head guard he is Sir Laurance Zvahl of Meteli. Though when he left for Phoenix Drop he lost that title. He still sometimes introduces himself as Sir Laurance by accident.

Next, Werewolves:

There are a few different kinds of werewolves: pure blood, half blood, and turned. Werewolf is the umbrella term used for any Lycan kind.

A pure blooded werewolf is also known as a Wolfer. These wolves do not have a human form, though they do have a human-like form (think how we usually see Bodolf or Lowell). They also have a pure wolf form or natural form, where they appear like a normal wolf, though slightly larger.

A half blooded werewolf is also known as a halfling wolf or halfling wolfer. These are werewolfs that are born of both werewolf blood and the blood of something else, be it a human, meif’wa, elf etc. These wolves have a pure wolf form, a pure human form, and the ability to show their wolf ears and tail while in their human form. Examples of halfling wolfers would be Yip and Leona.

And finally a turned werewolf is exactly how it sounds. A werewolf who was not born but rather turned. Their traits depend on what the wolf that turned them’s traits were. In Logan’s case, he was turned by a Wolfer, therefore has the traits of a wolfer along with a human form.

I also want to mention a bit about werewolf hierarchy.

Most werewolf villages are small and refer to themselves as tribes or packs, depending on if they are made up mostly of halfling wolfers or full wolfers respectively. Their leader is referred to as The Alpha or just Alpha. Never by their name unless it is someone they are very close to.

Finally Magicks Users, Witches, Warlocks, etc.

The term used for any type of magickal person is Magi. They are also sometimes referred to as Mystics, though this term is fairly outdated.

A magicks user is any person born with the ability to use magicks. Pretty simple. This does not include witches.

Witches are born witches, much like an elf is born an elf. It is a species not ability. Witches are born with a higher connection to the earth and have the ability to learn witchcraft rather easily, though they don’t all choose to. Witches are often female, but it is possible for a male to be a witch.

A mage is a person who is not born with any magicks or witchcraft. They give themselves Rune Tattoos and often Scar Runes, and teach themselves magicks. This often takes a very long time, so in some cultures (like Zerimar) they do this at birth so the child will grow up with the ability. Mages are outlawed in many places throughout Ru’aun.

A Shaman is a mage who teaches themselves magicks for religious purposes, usually under the faith of Irene or another Divine Warrior. In Castor, the Chicken Shaman’s case, it was under the faith of the chicken gods… or something… no one really knows..

A Demon is a bit blurry. Not much is known about them other than that they come from another realm and are often evil.

A Shadow Knight is anyone brought back to life (or in Laurance’s case transformed against his will) by the Shadow Lord in the Nether. A Shadow Knight that has not claimed their immortality is often referred to as a “premature” Shadow Knight.

A Divine Being is anyone with borderline unnatural magickal abilities, or anyone able to master both a magicks and witchcraft. They are believed to be either divine beings or divinely chosen.

And FINALLY, a Warlock is anyone who falls under any of these categories (aside from the last three) and uses their abilities solely for evil, their own selfish gain, and/or to deceive others.

First of all this all sounds so cute and i will try to do as many as possible second of all thank you but be warned i didn't watch much of diaries but i did finish rebirth. so a lot of what i know about mcd characters is from wikis so some of what i write may not make sense. also i would love mystreet ones since that's what I'm most familiar with

me and Brian where sparring and i may or may or may not have gotten a bit rough....okay i got pretty nasty. Brian was lying on the ground bleeding from some cuts on his hand and head.

i went to get a med kit and came back brain was now conscious and sitting up.

i bent down to him and started cleaning his wounds he looked surprised when i did this sorta cute to. "um what are you doing" he said with a blush as i was cleaning his wounds. i rolled my eyes at this and "Fixing you DUH" after i said that there was a pause it was sorta unsettling "you don't have to help me i could fix myself up" he said breaking the silence. i took out some disinfectant and said "yes i do now shut up this is gonna hurt"

he winced as i pored it on him. after his wounds stopped fizzing i put the bandages on "there how do you feel?" i asked. he smiled at me and said "i feel much better, thank you zen" then he leaned forward and gave me a kiss on the cheek. after a few seconds Brian got up and ran away leaving me alone and confused

it was a beautiful day the sky was clear birds were singing people were happy everything was amazing except for the shadow knight who was hovering over my shoulder and poking me whenever i was trying to do something. i was talking to Brian and telling him where to patrol all the while laurence was poking and tugging at me after i finished talking to Brian i turned to laurence and said "do you mind?" he looked at while grinning wide and said "nope i got all day"

the day continued like this laurence poking and being a brat and me glaring at him.

the day was almost at an end when laurence grabbed my hand and started running towards the edge of the village "LAURENCE WHERE THE CREAMPUFFS ARE WE GOING?" i yelled. laurence did not answer instead running faster

once we reached a clearing laurence stopped. i looked around and saw a blanket on the ground surrounded with candles there was a little basket. laurence looked at me smiling and said "i thought maybe we could watch the sun set and look at the stars" i looked at him pausing for a moment before saying "that sounds wonderful".

we spent the rest off the day and night there cuddling and watching the stars

i was sitting in the okasis gardens with zane. we were outside because zane just got over his most recent sickness and after being confined to his room for 2 months he wanted some fresh air. zane was sitting on a bench reading a book.

i was sitting next to him until i saw something, something that made me smile.

i walked over to the bushes and starting picking the dandelions smiling. i made sure i only picked the prettiest ones. ones without petals missing ones without tears on the leaves. after a few minutes i had 12 PERFECT dandelions so i put them together and walked back over to MY prince and handed him the bouquet of dandelions he picked up the bouquet smelled them, then said in the softest voice ever....."disgusting"

even with his answer i could see his dimples poking out from behind his mask i could tell he was smiling.

and i started smiling

i love my prince.

sorry i didn't do all of them but since i did not know some of the other characters i didn't do them but i hope you like the ones i did do. thanks for the requests.

Yep, I can do that! I had to re-look at the list and reorganize it because all my organization for this thing looks like a literal nightmare to anyone who isn’t me. you’re all getting zane because he had the big first paragraph and no one gave any specificities!! also i’ll be putting a few ages at the start of paragraphs/by names {mostly for me to get a feel for time stuff since i hate character age garbage <3}

zane ro’meave, he/him, cis no romo/sexuality label, 36 at the end of season 1

he’s the youngest because i thought it was like that when i was watching as kid

the ro’meave children loved playing in the snow, zane was the best snowman decorator

when vylad {15} had come back after being pinned as dead a lot had happened. zane {12} can’t remember much of that day except that his mother was missing and that his father gave him a nasty scar along his right eye and impeded his vision

when zane {16} was in the practice grounds he saw long wavy auburn hair, and as soon as he rounded the pillar it was gone. zane would remember the small glimpse of the person he saw when he was an adult

his final test to prove to his father that he could rule o’khasis was to ‘deal’ with falcon claw. he did all as instructed, and felt no remorse when he heard screams of innocents from the fires as he rode away on his horse

he became a priest for two main reasons. 1. to get out of an arranged marriage, since priests couldn’t be married and 2. him and his spouse really didn’t like eachother

when he was at ‘priest training’ as him and his classmates called at, he found how easy it could be to use people to his advantage

he doesn’t like to be called ‘father zane’ and likes the more important sounding title that ‘high priest zane’ gives, as it also shows how high up he is on the ‘scale of religion’, again being his words

he doesn’t take worship seriously, and when he finds out there are reincarnations and that he is related to the reincarnations of esmund and kul’zak while not being one himself he feels furious.

im gonna go in paragraph-ish order now this is a lot more difficult to make nice than i thought it was gonna be lol, and this is it trying to be even ‘nicer’

also you might see my brain devolve throughout this, thats just me being tired since im writing all this late at night lol

so. kiki, emmalyn, and aphmau. what do they have in common that relates to zane? they show intense emotions iguessBUT! emmalyn is very standoffish as she had heard about him through her connections through her fellow scholars, kiki basically thinks of him as an animal that needs love and care, and aphmau knows that he is up to basically nothing good {he determines how he interacts with someone based on their reactions to his introductory teasing which is partially how him and janus got close}

he thinks kiki is the best option for the pendant experiment. the way it works here is that it needs a beings blood on it and it mixes all of the dna together and makes a child. zane didn’t know this when he was burning down the eastern wolf tribe and stomped on bodolf’s paw as he reached for it; eventually when janus reported back on his ‘child’ they noted the child had werewolf ears and a tail as zane understood what he did wrong immediately, although he had no way to correct this when he learned about it

{34} on the topic of child experiments {lol what a combo of words} alexis was another one. he read up on shadow knights and how if they were turned soon after they were born something would happen. since this something was undefined he had to find out for himself, so when he heard about the newborns in phoenix drop he had an idea

all priests have the symbol of irena somewhere on their body to show their dedication, zane chose the back of his neck so he wouldn’t see it all of the time

he sits as the obsidian father in the jury of nine, because everyone is under his ‘care’. he looks over all of the paperwork and looks over candidates, he is known amongst the jury to bump up those who is seem promising, such as iverline. he is also the speaker for the group and is stuck on a rotation of meeting hells for a lot of the time which impedes his traveling, so he uses the jury for whatever he needs

he also had to break them to a certain point to get them to work under him without making them resent him. janus was easy as the two are naturally close, jeoffery was about an intermediate difficulty and katelyn fought but fell into line soon after meeting jeo, lillian was more mental manipulation focused, kim and ken are indebted to zane, june was excelling in the most famous guard training camp in ru’aun and was ecstatic to join from the reputation of the jury, and ein was just basically stocked to be himself i guess

also, fun fact, continuing on the ‘getting people to do what he wants’ and stuff, he gets touchy/in personal space/flirty to throw them off guard and has never followed through with this. he is a priest after all, to think he would do such a thing is blasphemous!

he uses his connection to the patron irena and their friends above religious locals and people

when zianna tried to ‘save’ him {17} from garte, he dismissed her and reported to his father. he rarely saw her after this and was one of his last regrets before losing himself

jeoffery was instructed to talk with the phoenix drop kid at the academy, because young minds are easily malleable, he {zane, 34} thought it would be helpful to try and get him on the jury’s side. brian, who was called velius at the meetings and between jurors and told them to treat velius like the little brother of the group. he gave false promises to the kid, and the night he was going to leave for home zane called him in and handed velius a communication amulet between him and the jury; the kid was ecstatic and, eventually, when he let it slip he was sent to the royal o’khasian jail

once he was out of irena’s dwelling {irene dimension} he called back the jury, some came running back after missing him for so long and others, like iverline, were summoned since they were at the top of the waiting list

when aphmau finds out she is the direct reincarnation of irena she holds it above his head, and he despises it with his very being. it gets even worse when he finds out the group are more reincarnations, he is practically livid.

when it came to kiki he was very good at playing the pitiful-boy card, for emmalyn he played the demanding-overlord-with-a-soft-heart and would hang around the library, and with aphmau he would always stand a little too close and get too touchy with them as he would push him off

the baby shower present he gave alexis, a maroon teardrop necklace, he knew it had something to do with shadow knights from janus and lillian, his eyes and ears of information. the only similarities between the reports were shadow knight energy, netherrack, youth, and proximity to obsidian. when he saw that alexis had turned into a fully-grown shadow knight he thought she would be under his control and mentally developed, as he was about to hit her for not listening to him and being sluggish aphmau got him in his bad eye and started cussing in olden tongue {more on that in another post} and alexis snapped out of it as he stumbled backward; least to say he was not pleased and marked her on his list. after this molly came down and helped with the situation as best she could

Quick question, Aphmau has a GREAT relationship with werewolves and many of them (specially Lowell and Kiva) love her unconditionally, in your rewrite, how would the others feel about them? I know Garroth is afraid of them, but it’s never mentioned how the others felt.

Laurence pre-SK is slightly spooked by them. He’s uneasy but he will talk to a werewolf if they speak to him first. He can be civil with them. SK Laurence has pretty neutral feelings towards them. He has no reason to fear them, aside from Bodolf, but as Bodolf is a friend of Aphmau’s he knows that there’s low chance that he’ll ever have to fight him. Werewolves are uneasy around him, however, due to him being a Shadow Knight. But this unease wears off soon enough when they realise he’s chill.

Oh and then he slaughtered a bunch of Werewolves at a wedding and whilst it was justified (mostly) other werewolves just avoid him now.

Aaron just thinks of them the way he thinks of people. As he is a werewolf, it would be weird of him to think of them any differently. Werewolves have a tendency to dislike him, however, because he has a coat that is lined with werewolf fur. Which he made himself whilst living in the mountains because he didn’t really want to freeze to death. When he’s not wearing it, werewolves seem fine around him.

Travis is sort of spooked by them, but they’re spooked by him too, so it’s a very equal relationship.

Katelyn doesn’t like them all that much, because she grew up in a very werewolf-hating city (O’khasis) but she’s trying to work past that. Werewolves tend to have a bit of an edge around her because she’s a Juror and, well, jurors are mean to werewolves 90% of the time.

Lucinda is a bit annoyed at a specific village of werewolves, the one near Pikoro, since they used to be a huge nuisance (before they were slaughtered) but aside from them she has a pretty okay relationship with werewolves. Sometimes she’ll ask for a sample of fur for a spell, or a claw or something, and in return she paints their houses with protection runes and overall keeps them safe.

Dante has a bit of a similar situation with Lucinda, minus the witchy parts. He doesn’t mind most werewolves, they’re alright, some of them are really nice and stuff. So he’ll help them out whenever they ask him to, and they do the same.

Zane kind of hates everyone equally. And the werewolves hate him back.

Vylad is pretty chill with werewolves. He’s nice to them, entertains the pups and stuff. In return, they dont kill him for being a shadow knight. Because werewolves don’t like shadow knights, especially not ones that affiliate themselves with Shad’s favourites.

i clicked a video, “New World | Minecraft Diaries [S1: Ep. 1] Roleplay Adventure!”

and from then on, my life changed. i know it sounds stupid, but minecraft diaries and aphmau in general changed me.

i know i yell at aphmau a lot, lest it be for plot holes, unexplored characters, awful character development, or even just taking out laurance, she was and always will be my favorite youtuber.

so in this moment, I just wanted to say, thank you so much Jess, for everything you made me into today.

it’s hard to believe it’s been six years since i first clicked on an aphmau video and i’m glad i never once abandoned it.

that story will forever be one of my favorites,

i've actually considered putting some aph/kiki into my rewrite, and i... well i still haven't decided against it 🤔 i really like kiki and my own interpretation of her character, but i don't think romance is necessary to explore most of her potential (except for bodolf... the childhood love torn apart by circumstance... i am an enjoyer)

adding zoey to the mix is a neat idea! three characters to whom motherhood is such an important theme in such different ways could definitely have an interesting relationship. i might have to think on this one some more

my first answer would have to be...

a lot of the het ships 😭

i can think of maybe one whole character i think of as het (jeffory.) but unfortunately there are still a lot of m/f ships that i like a lot and give a lot of attention to in my rewrite (which i write in like, once a month, lol) like kiki & bodolf, genemau, etc. even gar- and laurmau, but at least those are very big parts of the original story.

it mostly comes from a lack of female characters (in the beginning, at least) and since aphmau is the main character, most ships are going to include her, but 😭 like why am i invested in straight people romance.... sad!

#HOWEVER. kikimau has me intrigued & i will get to that when i can #sorry for being a genemau fan. i thought he was cute in rebirth ❤️ #mcd #z.txt #ty for the ask :]
