Since you're always up for asks and I'm too Covid-ridden to go anywhere lol - tell us why you love Barchie more than you like Bughead and Varchie! I bailed on the show in season two so can't contribute anything to this discussion but am always so interested in why all of us do or don't ship certain pairings!

With Varchie, I was never a huge fan. Felt more like friends to me and I preferred Valarchie (you can imagine my shock when my cousin told me Varchie would get together lol). But I don’t mind them being endgame simply because my ship was.

Bughead, I thought was cute at first but looking at metas and idk…it’s meh. I wish Falice was endgame (they’re my Rufly lol.)

As for Barchie, there are so many reasons why I love them. For starters, their chemistry was AMAZING. KJ and Lili were AWESOME at their roles. Plug the next door neighbor element along with childhood friends to lovers is the CUTEST thing. I love how much Archie cherishes Betty. And I love how strong Betty’s love and belief in him was there. She didn’t seem to make jokes about Grundy taking advantage of him (I love V, but those were not her finest moments, but she was young too so I can maybe give her pass. Idk it’s just fucked up to me lol.)

I really want to watch the later seasons for these cuties, but I’ll have to skip the ch*ni parts lmao

Barchie are the one who get the emotional talk about tbk during bettys kidnapping, archie opening up to betty about grundy/being abused by her. Barchie talking about their hope for the future and having a baby someday. They have all the important talks and are being honest and open about each other hearts. But you think varchie and bughead are endgame?? OH it's gonna be hilarious when the season finale come.

Reggie and Chuck often called the Cooper girls crazy because they both dealt with anxiety. Just has she got ready to turn on her heel and flee, another, new voice, piped up.

“If you’re done being assholes, I would like to meet my tour guide,” came the dark timbre of a guy. Betty hesitantly looked up at him, spotting a guy around her age glaring at Chuck. He had a crown-shaped beanie on the top of his head and was wearing a leather jacket. There were about four other people surrounding him, all in leather jackets, and Betty watched on hesitantly.

Chuck smirked. “Ah, look, the southside trash is here to join the party.”

The taller guy next to the one in the knitted beanie, snarled. “Call us trash one more time.”

Chuck looked at him, sizing him up, and then seemed to think better of opening his mouth. “Whatever. Just stay in your lanes, freaks.”

With that and a shove to Betty’s shoulder, Reggie, Veronica, and Chuck all walked off. Rubbing at the bruise that was already forming, Betty looked up at the newcomers, who were staring at her in something akin to concern. “Er, hi. I’m Betty C-Cooper. Your tour guide.”

“Jughead Jones,” the guy in the beanie said. “Leader to this ragtag group of snakes.”

Hot take but Betty and Veronica both deserve better than Archie. Veronica for the more obvious reasons, but Betty also because Archie holds her back? Every version of them having some kind of perfect happiness involves Betty not being herself? She always has to change for him to remain the exact same. Both women deserve better and to degrade them into some endgame competition love triangle is sick and the opposite of what was promised from the start of the series. Like pls just give them both girlfriends or guys who aren’t going to jerk them around for eternity.

Sigh another day, another racist post, why are so many (I know not all) BH stans like this? I block and unfollow and they come out of the woodwork. I swear they're like hydra. The things the accuse Tabitha of, thier wishes, headcannons and desires... And I have to ask, did everyone honestly think that all the OG couples would be endgame, all the HIGH SCHOOL couples would stay together? No one would move past those relationships clouded by thier traumas of the time? Outgrow thier SO? Really?

They seem to really get rowdy when big Jabitha episodes come around 👀

They take out their anger about their ship not happening on Tabitha/Jabitha. We've seen this kind of behavior ever since Tabitha's obvious introduction as Jughead's romantic partner. They don't take her seriously as a viable leading lady or love interest for Jughead, and that's on them. The way they view Tabitha and her character tells you everything you need to know.

Honestly, I don't know how you sit through season 4, watch Bughead (and Varchie) implode like they did and have the audacity confidence to think those ships are coming back, much less be endgame. The timejump didn't break up those pairings and those couples, Betty and Archie did (long before the timejump ever came to be). Betty and Archie and their feelings for each other have been teased every single season of the show, they were inevitable. It doesn't mean the old ships weren't good or don't have good moments, of course they do. But the ships were never locked in and set in stone, especially pre-timejump.

The only show I can think of where the OG couples stayed til the end is PLL and one of those couples included a literal groomer so... sometimes what's best for the characters is to let them grow and mature, not lock them in to the choices they made as teenagers.

I love adult Jughead, I think he is the best version of the character. I think Tabitha is his perfect match and I think he is the perfect partner for her. Jughead and Tabitha fit together seamlessly and they are so healthy as a couple. They are adorable and inspirational.

Some people can't handle seeing Jughead with a beautiful, confident, intelligent, driven, and compassionate black woman and it shows...

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the racist takes that pop up when Jabitha get content are best left ignored, they can argue with the wall. Tabitha is fantastic and Jughead Jones loves her with all his heart.

Hey anon, thanks for the message. I'm sorry it took so long for me to get to.

Firstly, I must say that respectfully, this whole endgame thing is ridiculous- I think the entire purpose of Veronica and Tabitha having that conversation is to keep doors open, since not even the writers seem to know where they’re going. 

And before giving my opinion, I must preface this by saying I don’t particularly like either Barchie or Varchie. All power to those who do, I’ve interacted with some amazing people who ship one or the other but personally they both feel a little boring to me. 

But anyways, let me just you give you an analogy here. The weather person says that it’s a 60% chance it will rain one day and a 40% chance it won’t. Even though it’s more likely that it will rain, it doesn’t mean that it’s impossible for there to be a sunny day, right? That’s what the case seems to be here.

That’s not to say that Barchie won’t be “endgame” since the couple are definitely looking strong at the moment, however Riverdale does love to throw a few curveballs and them ending up together certainly not the only possibility.

If it makes everybody who’s stressed about their “endgames” feel any better, I know most of the couples I ship won’t end up together. RIP to my Tabronica and Dretty heart :(

Something riverdale fans have to accept is the fact that bhva are toxic. Try to argue all you like but its basic facts. The fact that bhva fans can never actually justify or argue against the fact that betty and archie cheated on jughead and Veronica proves that they know they are but refuse to accept it. Cheating is wrong and lying about cheating makes it worse. Also the fact that bhva were then only ships not to be included in the trailer says something. And even if VA are getting content in the first 3 episodes we all know it's gonna be fan service that they are doing in the beginning to get it over with.

Barchie and jabitha are beautiful relationships that are not rushed, and mature and grown up and have chemistry that is in no way toxic.

With Varchie, I never liked them. I remember a few years ago when I watching Riverdale with my cousin and really liking Val and Archie together and finding them cute. Imagine my shock when I found out that Archie gets with V. I thought it was very forced tbh. I much prefer V with Toni and Reggie

Barchie on the other hand, I was entertained by the drama and thought their kiss had chemistry but I didn’t really actively ship them till tumblr. I actually wanna watch riverdale for Barchie and Toni (but I’m also worried choni will be a thing again :()

There is something called angst, they are giving obstacles to surpass together, it's not laland and their conversation feels very adult and real. Betty wonders if she wants kid and stuff and that's a real thing. Barchie are building their relationship up. Its okay to be sad for bughead. Its okay, stage of grief is a process.

Who else is a Bugvarchie endgame type of person, despises Barchie, finds Jabitha dull but Jeronica...Jeronica just hits different? They’re such a good pairing and should have absolutely been explored back in season 5. Don’t get me wrong, I love Varchie but if they are forcing that Barchie endgame on us I think Jeronica being endgame would be the only silver lining for me.
