Tumblr collecting blog data for AI learning models without people knowing or okaying it is such a big scummy move!

It is. They‘ve graciously given us the ability to opt out, but it ain’t exactly worth anything when

a) they already sold everyone’s data beforehand,

b) "accidentally" took more than they were legally allowed to including stuff that wasn’t posted but also copyrighted things from other companies, and

c) The opt-out doesn’t even do anything.

It’s just a signal telling the company this blog doesn’t wanna be in their scraped data anymore. Asking them to pretty please take them off the list that would be really cool. Whether or not it happens in the end is chosen fully by the companies, and let’s be real…they’re not gonna stop scraping you.

Also, the utter audacity to do all this after just months after declaring this site a save place against AI and crawlers.

So yeah, scummy.

Why doesn't the Mushroom Kingdom ever up its security so that Bowser stops making off with Princess Peach? it's like they want Peach to be perpetually kidnapped by Bowser

Probably cuz they’re actually cool with each other, I mean they invite Bowser to Mario Kart and Tennis. Plus Mario Bros 3 was already a stage play, so who’s to say most of the rest aren’t!

Or we go the alternative route, it might be because Mario already is their max security. The mushroom kingdom’s a place full of, well, Toads. Aside from the Bros being op compared to all them, the kingdoms trade mainly lies in construction with focus on pipe-based transportation systems, healthcare services, and by the prevalence of power stars within the kingdom, most likely also energy exports.

However, their military advancements are severely lacking, with the regular Toad guard only being armed with spears, and seemingly only a fraction of Toads capable of using the plentifully growing power items like the fire flower. (My hc is that it takes some skill and strength to properly channel enough fire without burning yourself). Because of that, if they were to upgrade their military, they’d have to do so via alliances and importing.

Only the biggest contributor in developing and producing both military units and technology is none other than the Koopa Kingdom, whose king probably wouldn’t want to give his advanced tools to the princess he’s actively trying to kidnap for good.

Of course, the Mushroom Kingdom can (and does) have alliances with other kingdoms - most noticeably for their military, the Pink Delegation of Bob Ombs - but not only won’t it be enough to fight properly- on top of offensive machinery, the Koopa kingdom‘s the one for powerful sorcery, a lot more versatile and offensive kind of magic than the consumable-based and otherwise mostly making-life-easier mushroom kingdom magic. And to top that off, that Koopa sorcery includes necromancy. Basically, if the Koopa Kingdom decides to invade you, you’re screwed.

But Bowser also got a nice side, doesn’t really care about other kingdoms unless they have something he wants (usually non-heat based energy sources) and mostly only does what he does because he’s got a major crush on Peach. Everyone knows that for all he will inflict on anyone standing in his way, Bowser will never actually bend a single hair on the princess herself.

So the Mushroom Kingdom has two options. They either try to stop Bowser when the Koopa Kingdom invades and inevitably risk every single citizen getting turned into blocks again in the best case…or they just let him do his thing.

Minimum civilian harm, collateral damage usually limited to castle grounds, and most importantly, a big window of time when Bowser will focus his entire army on the stopping of two very overpowered plumbers, therefore leaving the entire rest of the kingdom alone to rebuild the damage and stay undisturbed for the entire duration until his defeat, recovery, and re-stocking of the army.

The Mushroom kingdom is essentially artificially recreating the thing that Hyrule has going on naturally with its reincarnation curse- single guy keeps saving the world from recurring evil with the princess at the center of the conflict in return for guaranteed peace of the kingdom during in-between times.

Or maybe all of them are just really, really, bored and it’s good training for the newby Toad guards who don’t know it’s all in good sport yet.

Is ship art is the most popular content in art community? What is your opinion on it?

Even without counting rule 34, which makes up the majority, shipping itself would probs still be the single most popular thing about fandom, so I‘d assume the same goes for art too.

My opinion is the same as shipping in general: the appeal of it makes sense for a number of reasons ranging from cute to angsty to character study, there’s lots of cool stuff around for sure, and I’ve both drawn and even got a spare ship myself here and there!

But the wider shipping community around it…oh man. There‘s a reason all the "most toxic“ fandoms are also the ones where shippers go wild, regardless of fandom/fandom space size.

Like. You‘re taking two dolls and clonking them together, why do you feel the need to write whole ass essays or dox people on why yours is the "only valid“ one and everyone who likes something else should go die. They‘re fictional characters, they‘ve got 2 hands to hold. And more. Because it’s all fictional. Make em turn their head and smooch both of them or smth idk. Why is being a "multishipper“ apparently such a big deal. You can do what you want. Touch grass please ;-;

Luigi is the most misunderstood character. I hate that he’s branded as a coward. Heck no! He is brave! There’s the difference between terrified and a coward. He’s scared but overcomes it to help people…which is bravery. He’s scared yes, but there’s nothing wrong with being a lil softer.

YOU ARE ACTUALLY SO RIGHT FOR THIS ANON

He might only be the player 2 of all their adventures, but that means he’s still part of them! He goes on all those dangerous trips with Mario! Heck, even in the Luigi’s mansion games, which show him at his most "cowardly“ because he’s afraid of ghosts, he’s still IN that mansion searching for his brother. It’s Mario, if there’s anyone who can run through these with no problem it’s gonna be him, but despite that and Luigi being utterly horrified of ghosts, he still willingly goes into those haunted places and confronts all these souls just to make sure it’s safe and his bro is ok. Plus in Dark Moon he comforts those Toads you save because they’re probably also terrified.

He‘s doing it all scared, but he’s DOING it!!

Went to check and yup. Oof. They‘re really trying to make videogame movies into the new superhero movies aren‘t they.

…then again, apparently Margot Robbie‘s producing it, so I am…very cautiously optimistic it‘ll go a similar route as Barbie, with the setting inside the media being the basis for commentary on real life by way of reflection.

Honestly could see it being like, idk, what it says about people simulating life in a game with a house and family, meeting your sims needs while it gets more and more hard for most poeple to ever come close to anything remotely fulfilling. Or going into the horror of playing god and making your sims suffer in horrible ways for your own entertainment. Maybe smth about society‘s hard coding to only accept people living in nuclear families? Idk.

Or stay behind the 4th wall and go with whatever the heck is going on with Sims lore, though kinda doubt its gonna go that route since the corpos definitely seem to want this be the next Barbie. Might turn into just that; a barebones carbon copy of the Barbie movie but with Sims.

Ngl more optimistic towards this than the Zelda movie lmao

Can you share about a fictional character you like and why you adore them? (Any series but if you can specify a title with the character name it'd be super cool!) I love seeing people gush about fictional characters they love. It makes me happy to see the positivity.

Sure! I’ve actually gushed about one of my faves before here, and aside from that my absolutely favorite character is Kirby, from the Kirby series! Both of them are from videogames though, hope that’s cool XD

Anyways, I think he’s what you’d call a comfort character? Lil guy‘s just good vibes all around.

It’s pretty basic really. Kirby loves his friends, food, and napping, he’s pink, and says "hiiiii! :D“ in the most adorable voice ever. Helps people in trouble even without knowing them because it’s the right thing to do and a chance to meet new friends. He’s a bit overeager and tends to rush into action first, then listen later, so he got tricked by more scheming people multiple times, but he’s doing it all with good intentions! The lil guy’s endlessly curious and views the world with literal stars in his eyes, and gets so genuinely exited about all the small wonders of his little world every day.

Despite being utterly adorable, he’s still kicking ass though, fighting against enemies who are way bigger than him with weapons that are also bigger than him! A very brave lil guy. I very much grew up with all that "pink is only for girls and they’re weak“ talk, so seeing this little pink puff rocking both was always nice. (Also fun fact! Kirby going by he is an English thing, in the original they don’t use gendered words for the puffball).

There‘s also The Lore™,which is absolutely wild, and very complicated, but according to it Kirby‘s vibes are so immaculate he might actually be the "good vibes“ reincarnation of the divine being that created the universe named Void, or at least caused Void to reincarnate in his image. Also the power of friendship is real, and he’s got an unlimited amount of that. They even made a whole game about it, Kirby Star Allies. It’s entire premise is about all the friends kirby made along the way of saving the planet, with many of them even being the former bad guys of precious games! He befriends the bad guys of that game, too. They even make photos of their hangout :3

And the thing is, you have this tiny pink puff with rosy cheeks and big eyes here canonically holding the power to destroy worlds, and in any other story it would’ve gone somewhere along the lines of "ohhh it’s actually not that innocent and it’s all super dark and edgy“, and the cut thing turns into some monster with too many teeth, but not with Kirby. All the dead gods and cosmic horror adjacency don’t take away from Kirby’s cuteness, it adds to it. Because Kirby straight up doesn’t care about his own lore.

Like, yeah he cheated death, yea he killed the "destroyer of worlds“, yea the grim reaper has been stalking him in every single intro since 2011 and recently come out to fight for unknown reasons, and yea he can eat the whole universe if he wants to just like Voids last reincarnation-

But he doesn’t want that. He wants to be friends.

Kirby is in love with the world, and the world he lives is made up of the love people have for him. And I don’t just mean that in a figurative way, the producers of this series, HAL Laboratory, absolutely adore their pink puff, and you can even feel that while playing in every small detail they put in all their work. There‘s just so much care put into it way past what most people would notice or was necessary. (Especially when it comes to presentation and soundtrack. Omg, the soundtrack). There‘s just such a warmth surrounding this little guy who’s shaped like a friend and holds love in his hands.

Kirby wants to be friends, play silly games, he wants to eat lots of strawberry cake and take a nap in the grass under a tree and look at butterflies and go on adventures with all his friends and make drawings of all of them and go fishing with his bestie who trains to be just as brave as strong as him and then visit the sleepy but kind king he fought all the way back in his very first adventure but has since become one of his closest friends, and maybe on the way they‘ll meet the mysterious knight who‘s super serious but secretly cares too and likes sweets a lot so maybe they could all eat cake together and when it’s late they can all watch the stars on the roof of the castle and when the moon is high he’ll go to sleep in his warm bed in his tiny house full of pictures of all his friends and adventures, and then the sun will rise and he’ll take a big ol bout of air and jump out the bed and greet the new day with a big"Hiiiii!“ with the stars twinkling in his eyes from the light of the new day that he already knows he’ll love.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what Kirby has always been and will be about, love.

And I love Kirby for it :)

What do you think if there is an AU where Mario was raised by Yoshies like tarzan of the mushroom kingdom?

I have not played the Yoshis island games but was under the impression that’s kinda what happens in those games, at least for a while

You can easily double it as a long-lost-twin AU if the Yoshis never go on their adventure to help rescue Luigi and instead decide to chill with this random baby that fell from the sky. Which would mean AU where Luigi gets raised as Bowsers adoptive bro while Mario lives his best life eating fruit in the sun.

One day peach goes through Yoshis island and comes across Mario, they fall in love <3 but the island is being threatened by the Koopa kingdom, only instead of the Koopalings it’s Luigi who goes out because he wants to prove himself to his turtlebro. There he stumbles upon that one princess Bowser‘s simping for, tries to kidnap her to win his favor but Mario stops it, so Mr. L dips for now (but not before either insulting or giving Mario a compliment about his mustache). Then it plays like Mario World but instead of power ups you get help from all colors of Yoshis.

Every boss is Luigi with increasing tricks and self-built gadgets, and he gets more pissed with each fight that this random wood dweller not only defeats him every time, but also has the loving family he doesn’t. After the last normal boss, Kamek comes in turning on Luigi for being so incompetent and accidentally lets slip that he was baby-napped and Mario is in fact his brother. They then finally both notice they have the same big nose with stylish mustache and also same type of cap. Cue Luigi switching sides (plus if he made insulting comments about said stache, he’ll go on to say that it’s pretty stylish after all), and rescuing Peach so all three can go kick Turtle Ass together in the final battle with all the Yoshis, utilizing the power of love

Bowser gets defeated, the Yoshis are safe, and Luigi, having lost a home but gaining another, goes to move in with Mario, and they built a warp pipe that directly leads to Toadstool Castle so they can always visit Peach. Mario gets a smooch on his big ol nose and the yoshis get invited to eat fruit cake

Also Mario’s mustache is round like an imitation of Yoshi noses while Luigis‘ is spiky to resemble teeth (kinda like the drawing on bowser jr‘s napkin), but in the credits you can see the bros having their iconic mustaches!
