She never did it intentionally. Most of the time she didn’t even realize she was doing it until she was in the middle. Until she was looking away from him with a heat in her cheeks she couldn’t deny and a wetness between her legs that mostly left her feeling embarrassed. 

They were just hands. 

But, God, they were Rhett’s hands.

Palms wide, fingers long and thick, blonde hairs on his knuckles and the backs of his hands. Littered in scars and callouses from years upon years of hard work and fighting and bull riding. So really, it wasn’t Tessa’s fault when she got caught up staring at them.

Curled around the steering wheel of his truck. Wrapped around a beer bottle or the lip of a coffee mug. Resting in his lap with his fingers threaded.

It didn’t help that she knew what those hands were capable of. What strength they held. Those hands could hold him onto the back of a raging bull for over eight seconds. Those hands that won him more fights than he lost. Those hands could fix her car's fuel pump like it was nothing. 

Those hands that twined themselves around her hips and waist any chance they got. Those hands that entirely eclipsed her own when he held them. Those hands that, when dipped between her thighs, knew just where to touch. Just where to tease. Just where to press and when to make her see stars. Those hands that ghosted over her flesh to make her shudder. That held her breasts just right with those dexterous thumbs teasing over her nipples. Those fingers that taste like leather and tobacco when he puts them in her mouth. Those hands that caressed her and touched her like a thing divine. Those palms that gripped rough and hard after one of his rides — held her in place and molded her just how he liked.

“Sunshine. Tess? You there?” Rhett called, sudden and almost loud in her ears. 

Tessa looked up from where she had spaced out. Vision snapping back into focus. Rhett sitting there at the dining room table with his hands up by his finished plate, looking at her with furrowed brows and an amused smile.

“D’you say somethin’?” she asked. 

It came out more like a squeak. She knew she had been caught. Her face was probably beat red, and she really couldn’t ignore the desire that was growing within her. The dampness in her panties that only worsened when she tried to cross her legs. And Rhett knew her like no one else. She knew that he knew that something was up. Especially when he cocked a brow at her and sat back in his seat. 

He nodded his chin at her. “What were uh…What were ya thinkin’bout?”

“N-Nothin’,” she replied.

She got up from her seat quickly, probably too quickly, to start clearing away the dinner plates and get things cleaned up. And Rhett just watched her. Fingers threaded together with his forearms rested on his thighs. God they always looked so good like that. Tessa looked for a second too long as she scooped up his plate.

He let it slide, for the moment. Let her slink away to the kitchen and fill the sink up with sudsy water.

No, it wasn’t until she was elbow deep in spaghetti dishes that he made his move. 

She felt the heat of him first. That firm chest pressed against her back. His breath that still smelled of oregano and parmesan in her ear. However, she couldn’t help the small gasp that escaped her, floated into the open air against her will, when his palms came in contact with her jean clad hips. He smiled against the sensitive flesh of her neck as he pushed at first, then pulled her back into him.

It sent a jolt through her core that made her bite her lip.

Rhett kissed gently at the spot beneath her ear. “See somethin’ ya like, huh?”

“S’nothin’, bubs, honest,” she whispered back.

He tsked as he shook his head, dark hairs falling over his forehead as he skimmed those thin lips down her neck — to the juncture with her shoulder.

“Com’on, sunny baby, we talked’bout this,” he rumbled, one of those devilish, divine hands slipping beneath the hem of her shirt to tease at the soft flesh of her belly. “Gotta tell me wha’gets ya goin’.”

Tessa held out her resolve for as long as she could. Stopped up by embarrassment and pride. But then his hand was trailing up her abdomen, teasing at the bottom of her breast through her thin lace bralette, and she was putty in his hands. She knew he wouldn’t go any farther, and if she stayed silent long enough, he would pull away entirely. With some noise of discomfort and a laugh from Rhett, she pulled her hands out of the water and gripped the edge of the sink tight.

“S’embarrassin’,” she muttered, cheeks hot, still unable to just spit it out.

“S’okay,” he chuckled, nipped at her neck. “Think I already know what it is.”

“Y-You do?”

“Uh-huh.”

He pulled his face away from her neck. Confused, she didn’t know what he was doing. So she finally looked up from the fading suds. Just in time to catch in the darkened window, their reflections distorted but clear, Rhett’s hand rising to curl around her neck. He kept his grip light, but she could feel the presence there, the pressure and weight. It still made her choke, her chest suddenly heaving at the sight of that hand around her throat. Those thick fingers and hairy knuckles, that pale white scar between his forefinger and thumb. Without knowing it, her hips rolled back into him. Desperate for friction, desperate for release.

Rhett smirked as he caught her eye in the window reflection.

“Now don’t that make a pretty necklace?”

most of what i feel i know about them kinda comes up organically in my fics dependent on the au/setting, but here are a few things that come to mind:

i just love thinking steve has a special and unique relationship with all the kids. like helps lucas practice for the basketball season, shit talks with Max over milkshakes, goes to the comic shop with will. he can adapt to what the kids are comfortable with but is still totally genuine with all of them—he finds doing those things fun and gets to chat with them and whatnot

eddie really likes to distract steve when he's cooking/cleaning in the kitchen—hugging him from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder, grasping his hips; while steve likes to distract eddie while he's planning campaigns—laying out in front of him, crop tops, twirling his hair.

i think an eddie & nancy friendship would be super interesting, and i actually really want to write it more in a fic maybe. cause they seem so different on the surface, but i genuinely could see them somehow just ending up like ride or dies for each other. they have this weird friendship that no one else understands, but they're like both really passionate, a little jokey but no beating around the bush, care for the kids and so they're Tight.

side note of that one: charades with robin and steve being a team and nancy & eddie being a team is Lethal. add in argyle and jonathan as a team cause i said so, and someone Will almost be murdered.

i'm really into the idea of like coach or guidance counselor steve, who can help support kids and make them know they're worthwhile and can do whatever they want with their lives (like imagine future au and steve is a guidance counselor and his rockstar boyfriend just rolls up and everyone is like ... that guy??? is dating mr. harrington?? how did harrington land him??)

eddie's rings and bracelets are actually steve's personal fidget toys. when he's antsy and they're somewhere, steve grabs eddie's hand and twists his rings or twirls the bracelets, it settles him

dustin has such a permanent hold on steve's passenger seat, that if eddie is in the car he is required to sit in the back

THANK YOU. I mean, I suppose I could just *go off* about everyone but it feels rude w/o being asked, you know? Anyhow, buckle up, y'all. (I'm gonna readmore this shit because idk how long it'll be ... )

Okay, so in Unbreakable, which is a contemporary magical realism universe, we have:

Euwenn Allen Gilmore. Euwenn starts out at seventeen but grows up throughout the books, ending somewhere around 30 as of Empire of Dirt, I think. He's a kindhearted but powerful wizard who's constantly sacrificing himself for other people. (My wife says this is a catastrophic failing on his part. Oh well.) He goes through a good bit of trauma in his life (but I can't tell you what -- spoilers!) but it only makes him kinder ... and stronger. Euwenn is fairly impulsive (blame the red hair), but always looking to make other people's situations better.

Rowan Morris. Rowan starts out at nineteen but also grows up as the books progress. He's a tough cookie, having lived on the streets a bit throughout his life, so he's got street smarts, but he's a sweetheart. Rowan is a bit more settled than Euwenn, and tends to think things through more. He's a powerful wizard in his own right, using his powers with Euwenn's to fight for justice.

There's more from that world, but Rowan and Euwenn are my *bois* and I love them sm. I left out some stuff because ~spoilers~ but could gush about them forever.

Then we move on to Wild One, a contemporary universe to our own, no magic. In wild one, we have two mains as well:

Liam Turner. Liam is in his late twenties and a detective. He's a transman who still wears a binder as he hates hospitals and is afraid of the surgery. He starts the story with pretty unhealthy coping mechanisms: he forgets to eat, exercises too much, and isolates from others. Liam struggles with making friends. He's a kind and intelligent man who (up until events in the story) has never discharged his weapon outside of a gun range.

Adelaide Eckles. Adelaide is a nonbinary but femme presenting pathologist who works with the police. They are a prickly, intelligent, and bossy person who will do the Right Thing no matter what the politics surrounding the decision might be. Throughout the story, they stick up for the underserved and under loved (including Liam).

I love Liam and Adelaide, and again, hid some stuff because ~spoilers~. I'm waist deep in Wild One right now with no end in sight.

Ooh, I used to work for a caterer (and essentially still consider myself employed there, just on hiatus) and it was hands down my favorite job ever. I'm physically unable to do the work right now, which makes me so sad.

Ummmm, I'm an author. Less random I suppose bc if you've followed me for a while you've seen my stuff pop up. But im currently working on my fourth OG fiction book which I just gotta brag about.

Finally, I've driven five hours to help rehome a stray cat once. Best thing I've ever done.

Why is Annie down here? She voluntarily fell after hearing of the exterminations, and worrying about being kicked out of heaven for a while, before eventually landing in Hell around a week after S1E8. She has been in the hotel for two weeks, at this point.

Is shipping/NSFW alright? Yes, no! Both me and Annie are minors (though, considering Annie has been in heaven for around eight years, she is 24, but nonetheless!) so no NSFW. Shipping is fine, but Annie is ace, with a heavy preference for girls.

YES. BASEBALL MOTHER FUCKIN PLAYER RHETT!!!! With the pants and the cowboy hat (hadn't thought about that but lord have mercy the visual with his uniform still on is 😮‍💨) and the CHEEK FULL OF SUNFLOWER SEEDS!!! Pretty sure I got the idea from some pic of Lew from behind and I was just like....that is hair that DESERVES nay NEEDS to be under a baseball cap....

So my thoughts are that he either plays for the Colorado Rockies (cause he is a western boy at heart lets be clear) or just because I'm familiar with the stadium and area: the Cincinnati Reds.

I love him as a pitcher or a shortstop, the two sexiest positions in baseball in my humble opinion.

And what if I told you Miss Tess is a familiar face cause that baby boy is his huh? 👀👀 romantic fling years ago when he was still a rookie but she couldn't handle the life of a baseball girlfriend, so they broke up after only a few months...

i do think jude needs rest but he can get it once the season/euros have ended, sorry to him but we need him 😭 it’s also better for him to play regularly as more rest will ruin any rhythm he finds

yeah, that’s kinda what I wanted to imply when I said “he could need a little rest, but he already played less games than most of the regular line up so don’t know where that leaves the rest of them - although we only have an outside pov […]”.

What I actually meant to say was:

1. could = if Jude feels like he needs to rest and if that’s whats gonna bring back the consistency til the end of the season fine with me. But from the outside it does seem like him being out of rhythm was the reason for his bad performances vs Athletic and City. Today however he played very good in his 60 minutes and if he’s a little more efficient vs City everything’s gonna be fine call me delusional but I believe in us winning in Manchester

2. if Jude already feels the need to rest with just 4 club games in the last 6 weeks or sth (I didn’t look up the actual numbers here, it’s late I’m sorry) where does that leave tchoua, vini, rodry, toni² etc etc who played a lot more minutes??? Or FEDE who has played EVERY game this season (27 games for full 90 minutes!!! And another 6 where he played from the beginning and was only subbed of around/after the 80 minute mark; not counting international games)

all that probably didn’t come across very well in the shortened version (but I didn’t want the answer to get too long)
