soichiro sees the truth about kira. he sees that kira is evil but his power is evil too. that kira is only able to act because of the power of the death note, a tool that enables him to be the able he is, even before soichiro knows what the death note is. and that's the truth about kira, isn't it? light's viewpoint is monstrous, but it's ultimately mundane — the arrogance, the desire for retribution, is not a rare view, and it's a view a cop would of course be intimately familiar with. what makes light kira is not his own evil, but how it intersects with the evil of the death note. and it would be arrogance for the task force to assume that kira the person can be the only person who coexists with the evil kira represents. soichiro sees that. he knows kira better than anyone else.

matsuda sees the truth about kira. to matsuda, kira is a bad man trying to do the right thing. the effects that kira's actions cause reveal that morality isn't a simple matter of law, and that power can shape the popular conception of what is right. and of course, that means kira can't just be bad because he's a criminal. matsuda knows that kira is a person, and he can't help but think what kind of man would do the things kira does. and there's a part of him that sees the means that kira's end brings, the peace that everyone else refuses to consider or reckon with. he can see his own motivations in kira in a twisted sort of way, and that makes it impossible to see kira as a monster. to the world, kira is either a god or a demon. but matsuda knows he can be nothing more or less than a person, who's engaged with the same negotiation with morality and society that they all are. matsuda sees that. he knows kira better than anyone else

Andy, I just read your latest story (STUNNING SHOW STOPPING NEVER THE SAME) and I have a question! Remy says Mila is the woman he'll marry. Is there a reason they're trying for a baby before marriage? I'd think having a baby within marriage grounds would be easier (talking insurance, etc), so I'm very curious as if there's any specific reason!

Thank you so much for the ask Soup! Aaaahhh, I'm glad you liked the fics! I was kind of nervous about posting both of those fics because I knew they were kind of rare within the community but they're ideas that i've had for awhile (I've been sitting on that Drew fic for about a year... maybe 2)

But anyway! Remy has actually been married before, to Leah's mom Ava. For those who may not have been around all that long, Leah's mom passed away soon after she was born. Her and Remy had a really quick courthouse wedding after her diagnosis. Since she was super pregnant at the time and then was really sick after she had Leah they never had a chance to go on a honeymoon or anything. However, I am rambling. It's just not something that's super important to Mila and it almost means too much to Remy. They both have their own insurance and everything... but, Remy's is definitely better than Mila's.

To put it super simply... they haven't really talked about it. There's a lot of intense emotions about marriage for Remy that he's not quite ready to address and Mila just doesn't really care, because she has her family. Mila does however, really want to be a mom and since Remy has already been raising Leah and he's gotten to see how fantastic Mila has been with with her they've had the kid talk and made their decision.

I'm so sorry that was so long and roundabout, but there's a lot going on there when it comes to marriage and all that with them lol. I also just tend to get super rambly about my guys. I hope this answers your question well enough! and makes sense

I am on the third episode of the second season of Loki tv series and i keep waiting for it to become good but i think I’m waiting in vain.

I hate Sylvie, i hate the characterization of Loki (no hate to Tom Hiddleston, he’s wonderful)

The plot sucks and alternates between rushing tension and silly conversations that make no fucking sense but they’re there because they’re trying to be funny.

I don’t know man, i just can’t see what everyone was raving about.

finished gideon the ninth and i am just. i am thinking abt a conversation i had the other day. (you must excuse the spelling mistakes it 3:35am and i have to be up at 10:30 for a doctors appointment so like fuck it well ball or smth) and the conversation was along the lines of if we were in the same house would we be a necromancer/cavalier duo. and while we agreed that id be the necromancer to her cavalier, im just. i haven’t stopped thinking. i care about her so much. i say this in the most platonic way i can get this across. if she were to be the necromancer and asked me to be her cavalier i would drop everything in a heart beat. i would train to the best that i could be so i could be the best for the both of us if not at minimum her. i know that if she, just like if it was me, was the necromancer despite the “one flesh one end” she would not be able to ask that of me. she would not achieve lyctorhood because she values the lives of people important to her, and even just the lives of others, in general so much. so much more than her own. it’s why, respectfully, she would be the cavalier. she cares enough for her own life though, don’t get me wrong she’s not fully forgetting her own worth in the universe. but, i just can’t help but wonder if it was reversed. if we thought it the best course of action, if we studied it enough, i would give myself to her for her to become a lyctor. i would. no questions asks if i thought it would benefit her. i know if we were both in that same situation at the end of the book, i think i know what call we would both make. i think we’re on the same page but it’s possible we aren’t. i just. how do you express to someone that if “one flesh one end” were to hold the same meaning in this world that does in the fictional one that you would say it with your full chest and pinkie outstretched so she’d know you were being (semi-) serious. that you’d say it to her in a heart beat.

sometimes i worry that maybe there will come a day where we part ways and i can only hope it’s on the best of terms. for often times i think that if soulmates could exist in such a world, the one we live in, i would like to believe that is something we could use to describe us. one flesh, one end if that it what she wishes to be

well. if she doesn’t see this by the time i remember it got posted, so be it. it’s not my full thinking but i’m so tired there’s not really any thought at all anymore.

theyre such a qpr no one even understands. beyond scout n the fried chicken lady's initial sexual encounter i like to imagine theyve become good friends. perhaps she was from boston as well and her and scout bonded over that, along with a shared sense of humor and laid back attitude. they hang out together and watch tv, get pizza and make out, talk about their childhoods etc. I JUST THINK ITD BE FUN OK.

her and miss pauling have their meetcute at a barbeque during the fourth of july. the fried chicken lady was invited to come along by scout and is just chilling and grabbing some extra meatballs for her plate. miss pauling initially notices her for being a pretty woman but as they talk and the night goes on they bond from both believing in keeping things practical. shes also a lot less uptight than miss pauling however, which leads to a lot of playful teasing (from scout too LOL)

i think scout and the fried chicken lady enable a lot of each other's worse habits and so miss pauling has to deal with two different messy bitches LMAO. also another headcanon i have for their dynamic as an entire unit is that miss pauling will be up late doing paperwork in her home office and they'll be sleeping on her bed, and when she's finally done she goes in and snuggles with them.

im just gonna leave out my thoughts about scout n miss paulings dynamic for the time being cause if i did id be here forever but i did already make a post on my headcanons which you can find here.

something i've come to realize about the "contradictory logic" or "hypocrisy" of the USamerican right is that there rarely is a contradiction present. usually those two seemingly incompatible positions result from the same underlying belief, and calling out that hypocrisy doesn't actually address that belief

for example: why do conservatives care so much about "groomers" and protecting kids when it comes to restricting trans rights but are silent on the catholic church or the boy scouts of america?

a potential answer might be that they don't care about kids at all, that they'll say whatever preserves existing power, but...i dont think that's quite right.

the christian far right cares a great deal about children. but to them, children are not small humans with autonomy and rights. they are symbols of the future and seeds of what the political and social landscape of america will develop into. the right of the parent to control the child represents not just choices for a child's personal welfare, but choices regarding the exposure of the child to certain influences, because they believe that preserving the right to control children is the only way to make sure those children grow up Good and in turn make america Good. there is a very real anxiety there about society and their children turning out Bad, and the right to act on that anxiety trumps any rights a child might have, which are usually not considered.

the fear of children being harmed by "trans ideology" and "groomers" is a very real one, but the fear does not stem primarily from actual concern over the violation of a child's autonomy and safety. the fear is the imposition of the Other, the Degenerate, on the "blank slate" of a nation's future. while sexual assault by established institutions of power may cause outrage on an individual level, it does not galvanize the american far right because, even if only subconsciously, they view the Established Christian Moral Order as having a right to the bodies and minds of children that is essential to ensure its continued supremacy, so they downplay, deny or justify the abuse it commits. if this sounds fascist...yeah it is lol.

similarly, it is not a contradiction that recent gender affirming care bans for minors call surgery and hormones "experimental" then turn around and carve out exceptions for intersex children regardless of medical necessity and informed consent. gender essentialism is a foundational ideal of the right wing. the idea that there are two sexes, gender is meaningless, and those sexes are meant to have monogamous relationships with the opposite sex that engage in sexual conduct procreatively after marriage. any extant deviation from this is an existential threat. transition care for transgender people violates this doctrine, so it must be fought. intersex people do not fit into this paradigm, and because this paradigm is The Right And Good Way Of The World, that means they must be disabled or disordered. medicine must be used in service of enforcing this paradigm.

this is also why conservatives are going after asexual people. the far christian right doesn't hate sex, per se. in this worldview, sex has a very specific role and position that must be enshrined as absolute. eschewing sex altogether, or any other variance in sexual attraction that makes up the ace spectrum, is a rejection of the sacred position sex holds. it's not actually a separate justification from homophobia, just two manifestations of the same worldview.

anyway. the takeaway here is that exclusionism or any form of label separatism/policing is a psyop
