You know, I can't speak for everyone and I wouldn't try to pass this off as the prevailing Palestinian opinion, but honestly I'm a little tired of appealing to any type of zionist. In fact, I'm pretty sure my logical thinking has suffered these past few months, and I feel like I'm not making effective enough arguments. Things like constantly pleading for people to recognize your humanity is exhausting and for 3 months of it.... I don't know how people do it.

I've been invited to participate in talks and stuff at my university, and I have more coming up, about the history of Palestine and Zionism and colonialism but I can't help but think "what's the point of all this. people are dying in horrific ways. shouldn't that be enough to convince you?"

This is why I'm making more of a push to make art and encourage making art. Culture is a way for us to plan the revolution, as Fargo said in their essay (click), and provides for us a tool to imagine different, better, futures. We need to be aware of the sorrow, but we need to be able to do something with that sorrow.

I try to avoid arguments and analysis a bit (unless something really annoys me/is important to me) these days for that reason. I'm sure there are still some people in people's lives that they want to convince and I don't fault them one bit. I think if individuals genuinely see that people can change and want to take that initiative, I would never discourage them.

If you're talking about ME personally, I don't focus that much on it anymore. But I have either cut people out of my life or I've not had many zionist friends in the beginning lol. I make a point of introducing myself as a Palestinian who works in Palestinian cultural heritage for that reason.

7. What I wanna know in LO was how Demeter and Hestia were compensated after the war. The three brothers got to be kings and Hera is queen, but what we know of Demeter is that she had a millionaire dollar business that’s probably made it on its own (unless she was helped out) and then Hestia all we really know about her is that she runs that TOGEM and idk if there’s only 4 of them, Hestia really had a group by herself for a bit since Athena is Zeus’ (assumed) daughter, Artemis (Zeus’ assumed daughter) and persphone (newest member) which seems shitty since they won a war together

8. I think what happened with LO’s art style was RS got “lazy” (I’m lacking the right word). I feel like without the colors all of the men in LO have the same body type, and Hermès and Apollo may even have the same face if they smile the same. So to compensate for that lack of body diversity, RS doubled down on Hades’ features to make him stand out more to really show he’s the male lead. However, even in her own words he looks like Persphones’ “dusty ass dad”

The women use to be a little different but they’re all starting to blend with body types. Her was small, but now she’s short and busty like Persphone. RS makes Persphone look short and busty all the time but almost childlike. Minthe was skinny but her last moments she was busy. Aphrodite I feel was just busty but then tried to make her look small also with Ares and Hades beside her. Hestia stayed the same but is still small and busty. Athena was tall and thin (?) but now she’s tall but busty (and her relationship with Hestia looks like it mirrors HXP). Idk I just feel like the longer screen time the female characters get the more they start mirroring Persphone’s look. Like even Artemis was getting empathized on being small next to her brother Apollo. Like all the girls gotta look small but curvy as the story goes on. 

9. Demeter: watched her friend get ripped in half. Watched her friend get continually cheated on, paying the price for not hiding a mistress , watched metis get eaten, her back clawed, fought in a war. Later made a daughter who’s a fertility goddess (probably an accident) and now has to raise her. That same daughter then went on a rampage and isn’t really remorseful

Fans: Demeter is such an overbearing mother who gets in the way of our ship.

10. on regards to ace characters, asexuality is a spectrum like everything else, so a lot of asexuals actually do enjoy and have sex, so the maidens doing so isnt inherently a problem, its the fact rachel is clearly viewing it through a strict binary where she assumes asexuality is something that can be "fixed" over time/when the right person comes along. its also a bad modern reading of it, as "virginity" in an ancient sense meant via marriage, not via sex, but I doubt rachel cares to factcheck it.

11. Imagine an elf is given a job to do at a human institution. The humans think elves don’t need bathroom breaks, since they know they can hold it for days, but this elf has been traveling to reach their job, and has already been holding it to the point they are in pain. 12. ya know if hades has to lie to make apollo seem worse (who does not need much in this comic) its like??? why is he persephone's lawyer then?? lawyers are literally told not to lie, this is basic law 101. thats why they dont want their clients to mention to them if they actually did the crimes because then the lawyers have to say it in court. if hades lies so casually just to keep persephone away from justified punishment, then thats bad actually!  both in being a decent person and as a lawyer!

13. I know Minthe was written in a way she was suppose to be unlikesable, she’s rude, she yells and she doesn’t hesistate. HOWEVER RS wrote her character badly. Minthe is so unliked? How was she able to be a bad gf to hades and Thanatos? Like yes it’s an affair but how was she able to pull 2 gods?! We don’t hear Hades or Thanatos say what they like about her BUT they both still had a fling with her. (Honestly I feel it’s cause RS can’t bare writing one nice thing about the female anatangoist without trying to make Persphone look good)

The other thing bothering me was everyone knew about her relationship with Hades after she put it on fatesbook, but everyone talked about the kiss in such a positive light IN FRONT OF HER. Aren’t they suppose to be scared of her? Why did the girls in the yoga class/dress shop had so much to say about that kiss? Because they knew persphone? Did they know every other detail too? What was their actual beef with Minthe?

I feel like realistically some more characters would have sympathy for Minthe if they didn’t know her that well because of Hera. Everyone knows Hera is a pill to deal with and she’s the goddess of marriage who hasn’t really tried bringing Minthe and Hades to the alter. That right there should let everyone know that Hera probably doesn’t help the situation.

Idk, I feel like RS could have gone deeper and made the character not such HXP shippers cause most people wouldn’t cheer for cheating nor an old ass guy getting with a 19 year old. (Idk how fast the news of the slap spread, but I doubt it made it to every place in their fictional world)

Well I'm phylum anon and the reason I know what little I know abt the phylogeny of all these animals is because I'm a biology student in Uni and I've studied it!

I don't have any sort of specialisation into bugs, but they're upcoming in my studies so I know some now and will get to know more soon-ish!

The way we've put animals into "boxes" in our brain makes sense, but when you look over how they're actually sorted out you realise a lot of them are a lot closer/further away than previously thought. Basically it comes down to why and when different branches of the animal "tree" split from each other.

I would also not take my words alone as 100% fact, this is just to my best knowledge, and factchecking is important!

except they’re not as suggestible or mindless as weapons, nor are they absolutely thoughtless and feral like risen. they need to consume blood to avoid frenzying/degrading into risen, but in their freshest state they’re just revitalized genetically-altered humans.

louis and mia (among others) likely awoken and immediately fought for their life/fled the scene when the opportunity arose. while like in regular canon TWSITD are gonna do like.. their school-infiltration plan to get back at the church, they also have the side-dilemma of trying to capture the defecting revenants/dispose of them since they’re clearly sentient and don’t have their priorities automatically in-line with their mission.

there’s probably some revenants that do go along with TWSITD- whether it be because of personal interests aligning or just... out of fear of the unknown.

listen. perhaps this is a personal observation, but the vocaloid landscape for fics has changed a lot over the years. the feedback is only growing more quiet and sporadic. yes, ive learnt to write for myself and my own enjoyment. yes, i know that its not just about the notes or comments or kudos. yes, some pairings are still popular.

but writing takes time. it takes time and planning and a lot of brain power, especially for someone like me who can only write in bursts of ~200 words at a time nowadays. and since im in uni, the only time i really get to write is between breaks, a time where i should probably be - you know. taking a break. but still i give 120%, no matter how long or short the work may be, because thats what i love. thats what i want to put out there to share with the world.

and yet, with every work i put out there, i dont always get back 120%. and thats fine - not every work will receive a lot of love, i get that. sometimes i luck out: i happened to write for a popular pairing, or used the right tags, or posted it at a good time, and it performs incredibly well.

but sometimes i barely hear anything back, and its just disheartening. demotivating. it wears you down over time, and you dont feel like writing stories that long anymore - whats the point, if no ones really going to see it? - or you dont feel like writing at all.

ive been there, of course. but i try to switch things up a bit - i went from only writing lenrin to writing other pairings, just to see whats up; from writing longfics to writing shorter drabbles and blurbs, which are easier on myself in the long run.

so yes, its a shame. its a shame that i dont write longfics for vocaloid anymore, but its a damn shame that times have changed, and i can only continue to adapt to them.

I was just trying to puzzle out some things about character motives and it ended up a long post.

Yet again I wonder about Adachi’s motives here. Like. Why is he being so cool about “not seeing annything” and letting the protagonist leave the station? Yeah, he stalled a bit, but it was reasonable stalling, and then he actually helped them with the case a bit? Like he didn’t have to mention Namatame.

I wonder, why did he do that? Was it to pin the blame on Namatame? Was he just panicking and wanting the Investigation Team out of his face? Did he think it would blow his cover if he wasn’t cool about it? Did he honestly want Nanako rescued?

How much does Adachi understand about the Midnight Channel, anyway?

But, going back to the first point - if he was just trying to point at Namatame, then why? Is it just bc emotions are high and they’d be less likely to listen to any discrepancies? or notice how weird he might start acting? was it just for fun, to see where the game would go? If Namatame’s caught and they find him guilty, then what even becomes of Adachi’s entertainment? For that matter, why’d he even send those warning letters? Wsa it just to keep the game alive? Or was it to keep the game alive by having people killed? Or - what, exactly?

What was Adachi expecting to happen by sending those letters? I’m kind of more inclined to think that he expected the letters to rile up the Investigation Team more than to dissuade them, bc otherwise

wait wait no that later decision was after a turning point he probably wasnt expecting to happen, that could have just been an attempt to protect himself

but look, let’s branch it out.

if the IT stops rescuing people, then what happens? the police are humiliated and have to reopen the case. the IT feels guilty af and he probably gets to watch them beat themselves up over it. And probably would become either super disheartened or, more likely, more motivated than ever, with some blah blah bah about redemption thrown in. He gets more work at work and Dojima’s in a temper. Namatame freaks tf out, probably, and... what would Namatame do? Would he actually finally fucking investigate the TV world, and end up hanging on a pole somewhere the next day? And then the case would spin nowhere, bc the police don’t know about the tv world and the IT still thinks the kidnapper = the murderer. If Namatame still neglects to factcheck for some ridiculous reason, however, then what does he do? Besides freaking out. Well. He is Despair, after all. Maybe he succumbs to that.

...okay, so if Namatame dies, that’s a good thing for Adachi in terms of the not getting caught and in terms of short term entertainment.

But, like. The Investigation Team is already risking their lives to rescue people they barely know. Theyre already proving their determination. So why would a threat letter actually stop them? I mean, yeah, it’s a “real world” threat, sent confidently and out of the blue, but, like...

Unless the goal was to scare them? For funsies? And/or maybe to delay them a bit?

I could see the first one as being impromptu pettiness over Naoto but there has to be a reason for the second one

In regards to all this, do the contents of the letters actually matter?

The first one was, “dont rescue people anymore” or somethign like that The second one was, “if you dont stop someone close will be put in and killed” or somethign like that

Reader, please dont get your news from tumblr. there are a lot of pretty wild things happening, and its very difficult even for professional journalists to stay on top of it all, let alone a bunch of amateur bloggers. plus tumblr as a platform is v v not good for following the news bc it is not immediately clear on your dash when a news item is originally posted (which is obviously important when considering relevancy, if the story has been updated, if something has been debunked, factchecking, etc). even facebook is better than tumblr as a news source (but probably dont just use facebook either).

if you must get news updates from social media, get it from twitter (but not like....from your fb friend list on twitter). follow journalists from multiple publications, black activists, prominent feminists, writers, political professionals. not necessarily because their view is more important or more 'correct’ (a lot of them are assholes and often wrong), but bc high profile twitter users are more likely to have their tweets responded to, debunked, criticized, or supported by other smart people who know what they’re talking about. i’m partial to twitter bc it provides a platform for smart people to publicly discuss topics they have some authority in, and for smart people to be called out for fallacies/inaccuracies/biases/etc. and that’s valuable, especially now. plus stories that get less play in mainstream media outlets (bc the patriarchy etc) get more attention on twitter. added bonus: you’re unlikely to come across an outdated article from 5 months ago, because twitter as a platform makes it very hard to go back in time. 

*(honestly though i would recommend twitter mostly as a supplement, in part bc if you arent following the basic nyt/washpo/etc headlines, then when you open twitter you’ll be pretty confused by the conversation. but also: no matter how long the tweetstorm is, 140 characters a tweet is just not enough to convey a story. you should find out whats happening before you see the discussion about it. pay for a subscription or open nyt/washpo articles in incognito mode, whatever you have to do (this post is a helpful guide to reputed news outlets).)

just...if you’re interested in being informed, at all, please dont do it through tumblr. what you can do on tumblr, though, and what i am trying to do, is share information on how to get involved!! info about local town halls, promoting fundraisers, organizations needing support, causes needing attention, podcast recommendations, all those things can happen on tumblr, because its ok if a post about the ACLU is from a week ago, they still could use your support.

ok so to recap, here are my recommended steps for using social media as an engaged citizen:

get the facts about the big stories: NYT, WashPo, NPR, Reuters, Slate, The Atlantic, whatever

~go to college get more knowledge~: twitter

organize: tumblr

disclaimer: most people recommend not getting news from social media at all, and that’s very good and useful advice in the same way that ‘drink 5 cups of water a day’ is good and useful advice, but probably wont happen. but you can still be smart about how you use social media to get your news
