Please dont misconstrue this post and heres my disclaimers: I DO LIKE THE SONG, and i am Not Mad/upset at people being happy about it as well /gen
Ok ill carry on :)
Am i the only one who like feels just a bit worried with what the songs about and then also peoples reactions to it
Like im not tryna be some parasocial freak but idk,, having a song about doing bad and then everyone in the comments just being like 'woohooo so happy' is just off to me
And no im NOT saying people cant be happy bc IM happy about the song, i like the song, i can relate,, but like it gives me a bit of apprehensive feelings
And like yeah ik its just a song but idk theres too many lenses to look at this from
no offense to the general public but when people say catelyn knowing about R+L=J would’ve changed her and jon’s relationship i know they don’t get catelyn’s character.
if ned had told catelyn the truth about jon it would not have made their marriage stronger it would have ruined it. telling his wife he puts jon’s safety above her children’s (which is exactly what he was doing) would put an end to the love in their marriage she would hate him. catelyn would’ve hated jon even more if she knew who he was because he was an even greater danger to her children. ned made traitors of all the starks without even telling them, if anyone ever found out they would have all been executed. she would’ve slit jon’s throat herself and maybe ned’s too
See the ambiguity of “Jolene” is what’s great about it, we have no idea what Jolene is like as a person. We have no idea what her relationship is to the guy, we have no idea if it’s in her nature to be a homewrecker, we have no idea if she’s even interested. We have no idea if the speaker of the song has convinced herself that Jolene is some uniquely irresistible beauty with borderline-supernatural power over any man she likes because it’s too painful for her to believe that her guy just doesn’t care about her enough to not pursue any woman that is in his line of sight. This song is fundamentally not about Jolene and completely about a desperate woman who’s in a relationship that’s weighed against her and I don’t think Dolly Parton is that person, because she knows this is an unreliable narrator. But Beyoncé clearly took the song at face value and thought Jolene was the one with the power and thought actually telling Jolene off would be putting an empowering spin on it, so I think she may actually be that person.
“Thankfully, most of the vending machines are intact and full, so we won’t be starving while Cherub’s leg heals. Thing has caught him trying to sneak out far too many times.”
really kind of taylor to release an album about the perils of fame / falling in love with the most toxic man alive right at the height of my emilie agreste insanity
Sorry, completely off topic but I started wondering.
The song Galaxies by Owl City mentions a solar eclipse and You're So Vain by Carly Simon mentions a total eclipse of the sun. In b4 u say Total Eclipse of the Heart which doesn’t mention the sun but do you know of any other songs that mention a solar eclipse?
bestfriend! asmodeus, who begs you to tell him who you have a crush on. hes just curious!!
bestfriend! asmodeus, who upon finding out who you like, has frown on his face. but before you realize, he smiles, as if the disappointment was never there.
bestfriend! asmodeus, who will wingman for you, giving you confession ideas and drawing hearts on fogged up windows with yours and your crushs first initial just to fluster you.
bestfriend! asmodeus, who helps you write a confession letter and quietly watches as you slip it on your crushs seat, wishing it was him.
bestfriend! asmodeus, who painfully watches as your crush accepts your letter.
bestfriend! asmodeus, who slowly begins to distance himself from you, unsure of what to do.
Is it just me or does the phrase "dumb Darillium River" make your ears ring too?
That phrase hurts me like crazy because it takes away how the post-Manhattan events affected her so deeply. And now that we have the added knowledge that she gets to see her parents in New York even after Manhattan, THORS now presents itself in a different light.
River's resounding "the Doctor does not and has never loved me" cements the implication that she and the Doctor had a huge row after Manhattan. What would you feel if the love of your life told you he "does not and has never loved" you? Certainly not happy.
Do you know what grief does to one's mind? No matter how brilliant you are, grief changes you. Grief makes you a different person. I would know, having experienced it myself. And River, in her grief, jumped into a headspace that shut out (or tried hard to) the Doctor.
Yes, she should have recognized it was him she had unknowingly dragged along on her space Robin Hood quest, but for her, it isn't him. It wouldn't be. Because that was the last thing she had heard him say.
Grief and pain clouding her mind, she proudly asserts that no, the Doctor isn't there. He won't show up for her. He has never loved her. But of course, she loves him. She's never denied that. But he proves her wrong soon afterwards. Because she is the Woman The Doctor Loves.
So, yes, on the surface level, "dumb Darillium River" seems to be what THORS had made River to be. But no, it wasn't. It isn't. It was about a grieving River and a chance for the Doctor to right his wrong. (And yes, we were robbed of that kiss. Homie here quite clearly wanted one.)
One thing I don’t really see people talk about enough when it comes to Roy Harper is his fear of abandonment.
Anytime I see something about the Titans or whatever group he’s in disband or considering it, Roy is the most vocal voice.
And I mean, why shouldn’t he? Ollie abandoned him when he needed it most. Jason abandoned him after red hood/arsenal. Even the titans, his closest friends, disbanded and abandoned him at a time of need. So many friends and family left him in hard times in his life.
Granted, they all did apologize and make amends (Except Jason didn’t apologize but I’m just chalking that up to shitty writing like the rest of *that* era of Roy) but Roy will forever have a fear that all his friends will just leave him behind like how everyone else has his entire fucking life.
And I feel like it’s not really shown in the comics cause well. Roy’s really good at masking his emotions.
We really only see him show his fears in Arsenal (In a flashback) and it was when he was in an extremely emotional and vulnerable state.
Keep in mind, Roy was much younger in this scene (At most probably only 18) and so much more has happened since then that this fear has escalated, most likely to the point where he has some major trust issues.
I feel like this fear of Roy’s isn’t really explored on a lot within the fandom (Probably cause a lot of people focus on N52 Roy which guys please no) which is such a shame cause there is some great angst potential here (Writers TAKE NOTES)
i’m SO sorry for putting hazbin hotel on your feed but this show is like a car wreck that i cannot look away from and if it’s my problem i’m going to make it yours too
“Passing Through” - The amazing Kaden MacKay created an updated version of this tune, which felt very Virgil-y, so here’s an updated version of my cover 💜 (original)
Was going to wait til tomorrow to post this, but decided to swap it with my youtube vid* and OTHER video I made with Virgil, as the youtube video needed a bit more edit time to complete! So... Virgil's just gonna have a two-parter birthday, that's just what we're gonna do lol
*context: thomas mentioned on instagram planning to post a new youtube video on monday (today) but apparently he will post it tomorrow.
