deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao
not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

I'm sorry but if you in anyway contributed to this whole Rachel Zegler drama calling her smug, arrogant, ungrateful etc. you're not a girls girl. barbie did nothing for you. calling her antifeminist doesn't make you any more of a feminist.
"Let girls want marriage and feminine things!!" Sure if we're talking about wearing make up or getting Starbucks or screaming over our favorite boy bands.
I'm gonna speak about this from an American angle because that's my lived experience. And Disney's Snow White remake will likely cater to a mostly American audience. But are we not currently going through some of the most rigorous anti-woman legislation at the moment? The conservatives here are trying so hard to pass stricter abortion laws, getting rid of no fault divorce, banning contraceptives and birth control, anti-trans legislation for children AND adults. Straight men and the epidemic of podcasts they have are constantly pushing for a "high value" woman. They want us to get married and have babies.
Being a feminine woman and getting married is still the expectation for woman. I really don't care if someone gets married or not. But Rachel Zegler critiquing the prince narrative in 1937 Snow White is not controversial enough to crumble any feminist theory. Certainly not enough for all this discourse around her.
You just bought into the current racist, misogynist, anti-union propaganda.

raph was never any less suited to leadership than leo
raph was never any less suited to leadership than leo
raph was N E V E R any less suited to leadership than leo
idk how many times i can say it before it sinks in that in rise there was never once any point where that was the point being made
if you just like leo’s character better than you like raph’s, that’s fine! if you just like it better when leo is leader, that’s fine! i have no issue!
but we need to stop trying to circle that leadership change back to somehow being about better or worse or ~more cut out for it~ because it sucks to throw the great job raph did through the series under the bus in order to prop up leo’s good qualities.
they’re both great leaders. they both have strong suits and weak suits in the role, they both have growth and development when they’re in that role. they BOTH make on-screen mistakes in that role and aren’t very good at it at first! not getting a more in-depth explanation about it in the movie or series stinks and it’s very interesting to explore, but seriously.

This is OLDER! Nigel Colbie, admiring Alex's work: The vicious red marks littered across his chest, painting him with such vibrant hues of blackened reds and hot-ish maroons: the prominent teeth marks on his neck and the strong smell of Alex lingers on his skin, stuck to him like it's his own.

Minor throwaway sentence in a book on corruption I've just finished was talking about 1930s gangsters and about certain organisations in Chicago which the author stated were more ethnically diverse than the Italian mafia, and whose members were said to have included 'Irish, Welsh, Italian, and Jewish' gangsters.
Now call me sheltered but I've seen MANY Italian American gangsters immortalised in film, I've heard of the Jewish mob, and the police Irish American gangs but I have yet to see a movie about the Welsh mob. As a rule I don't go in for gangster movies but I feel there's an unfilled niche here and also I need more info.

Like YEAH, if they make another Knives Out/Glass Onion movie, the murderer will probably be another rich white man whose motive is to screw over a woman of color in order to secure his finances, but I’m still gonna SEE it because 1) I love Benoit Blanc with my whole heart and soul and 2) I want to see how the rich asshole in question gets his shit wrecked by the gal in question. I could watch a lot of movies with that premise, the fun is in the HOW. It’s like Leverage, but longer, and with more murder and swearing!

Well, I have now bought all but one of the available DCMK movies that are available to stream. Now would be an excellent time for The Bride of Halloween to be released for streaming to the English market. *looks pointedly at people who make those decisions*
