Maybe it’s just the evil nighttime emotions, but I started thinking about how my cane is going to be here tomorrow and now I’m overthinking about how much I do NOT want to deal with people staring and asking random questions and making assumptions/judgments about my disability. I remember how bad it was the last time I used a cane and I just don’t want to go through it again, even though ik it’ll help tons :/. How do y’all deal with ableism surrounding mobility aids?

#I remember people thinking my disability was caused by me being fat and were really rude about it #even though they’re completely unrelated #which was really harmful for 13-14 year old me #I’m slightly better at shaking off rude comments but that specific type of ableism gets to me sometimes #and then there’s the ‘but you’re so young!’ comments and intrusive questions about my disability #ahhh idk I’m just stressing myself out #I’m only just now getting past my social anxiety. I don’t want to move backwards in my progress because of this #disabled #cane user #chronically ill #mobility aids
