I've been looking for a podcast like this for so long and then i chose another one... ...what do you mean there's controversial listener discourse?

I'm probably going to answer this question way more seriously than it was supposed to be answered, so here we go:

usually in the asmr roleplays the listener character is in the right - especially when there's some kind of relationship conflict going on - because no one likes to be wrong (and most people like to be tearfully apologized to) - and in rare cases when they are, it is usually resolved peacefully without much consequences.

So when that's not the case a decent portion of listeners is often upset.

In another ASMR fandom I used to be in (which I'm not naming even though it's a secret from literally no one) there was two big instances of that happening:

I. In the first one it was an actually complicated situation in which both the listener and the speaker characters did some things that landed them in quite a predicament - the consequences were drastic and lasting. The listener character was blamed a lot in the text though and people were so vocally upset about it (mostly not here, but on other platforms that I'm not on) that the creator removed the whole storyline (about four videos at the time) from the channel.

II. The other case was very similar to the one we have on our hands now with Alex - the listener character repeatedly breached their partner's privacy and broke a previously set agreement, so their partner broke up with them. That time hell broke loose here on Tumblr because people were just arguing over and over if the listener's actions could be excused because they acted on insecurity/childhood trauma/whatever else and if that meant the character breaking up with them was the one in the wrong because of that.

So, I might be wrong about this Alex situation, but I accidentally (again, I'm not actively in the fandom) saw a few posts that reminded me very much of the Case II and considering the fact that ZSaku in the description of the video mentioned existing 'discourse' I presume it exists.

But I feel like this is a presentation/positioning problem, being "comfort" is way too generic of a concept and further clarification being needed - comfort what for? Comfort why? Comfort in what way? So if you know ahead if it's comfort for overworking or for not being productive enough you can decide if it fits your current situation.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by Reddit audio porn tagging but I prefer to know as much about an audio going in as possible and here it applies as well.

I would love to hear your thoughts about the new zsakuva character (Zaros I think) and the listener as well. I love how we see that the listener isn't perfect and has flaws. What do you think?

For starters - thank you for pointing his name, you could have probably put a gun to my head and I would have never been able to recall it.

Ramble:

The listener being imperfect and having a personality is good but for me they aren't especially relatable. The insecurities and having to pretend to want to be a ruler when you don't actually want the responsibility - having to fight for a huge responsibility you don't want to have in the first place - a great plot idea. However I'm not quite enjoying how much attention are they paying to that guy - how actually easy it is to rile them up. And gods damn, when he started getting into specific politics - I was foaming at the mouth (derogatory) because *a wide gesture at all the communist and anarchist books I've read and those that are in my to-read list* and I hoped they'd also answer him more specifically and more with critiques of what he's saying rather trying to defend themselves.

He's an interesting character - all the bad reputation, the rumours, his story together with the listener - and about it he said several times "I have any feelings for you, none at all" and then he spends like twenty minutes trying to get a reaction out of them he says later that he's "looking for ammunition" or whatever but that sounded like an excuse. Also, he talks half the video about how listener is a spoiled brat but he himself sounds like such an entitled brat.

Am I curious how is this going to progress? Yes.

Will I probably want to stab him many more times? Also yes.

Well, I had many ideas of what to request, one of the first and main ones I was gonna ask was like, the Canadian werewolf (my pfp) x gn!neutral or afab reader based fanfic. Maybe a continuation from the video where he starts teaching jellybean how to be a werewolf, introducing them to the pack (and being a little overprotective of them) and just overall showing them around the islands and that kind of thing. The werewolf video is one of my top favorite characters Jim has created.

Yeah, that werewolf is such a sweet character and the video is very cute - I love modern werewolves being portrayed like found family and/or a proper commune - "mutual aid", communism as in "community" and all that jazz. :)
