so LOL my new job completely fucked me over and scammed me by telling me i'd work 20 hours a week immediately, then saying they won't have proper availability for a few more weeks, now saying they can barely give me hours at all, IF ANY, for the foreseeable future.

well my life goes on and continues to include expenses even as i try to apply for new jobs

🎺🎺It's donnnnne!!! 🎺🎺 For the first time since ~February 2020, all of my credit cards are finally paid off again. Between getting hit hard with covid right at the beginning of the pandemic, then being unemployed for 8 months but not actually qualifying for unemployment, then going through a series of shitty jobs that didn't actually pay a living wage, for a long time it felt like I was going to be stuck in a debt loop forever. The light at the end of the tunnel only really appeared last year after I got a promotion and raise at my current spot, and even then it still took me another year of buckling down and putting most of my additional income directly into card payments. But it's fucking done. I know that this doesn't affect anyone else but it's such a fucking relief I'm sitting here crying while I try to get ready for work and I don't really have anyone to share it with so as usual I'm just yelling it into the blog void.

my long personal nightmare of a job search is finally, finally over! i officially received and signed an offer for a real job! that will pay for my rent/food/meds!

i ended up finding something that actually requires things i got from basically all my disparate education and work experience, which i didn't think was possible. i sort of suspect the people doing the hiring were equally surprised to find someone with my array of qualifications, lol. it's also a hybrid in-person/remote job, which i like and which my dog will appreciate. there will be some travel involved but not so much that i worry about how that will affect my dog, especially because we now live in the same city as my parents and my dog and their dog are best friends and they can watch her whenever i have to go out of town overnight.

my official start date is january 22nd and i am happy but mostly relieved af since i've been job hunting for approximately forever.

Woo did at least one productive thing today and finished submitting my taxes

#was a very lazy Saturday I just napped on and off most of the day #but felt like I needed to check at least one task off of the chores list #and actually was pleasantly surprised at the refund I'm getting too #i was expecting to owe money with the addition of my OF earnings but even with that added I stillgot a decent amount back #mostly because the state is doing a nice kickback #might be able to finally pay off my credit cards in the next month or so now 😊 #which have not been fully paid off since right before covid first hit #sooooo approximately 4 years #and that time they had barely been paid off for a month or two before the pandemic shit hit the fan #and before then the last time everything was paid off I still lived in California lol
