The ex-Mercenary with the endearing dimples
Tumblr media
»»—— Crew Member #5 of Space Pirates ATEEZ ——««
all aboard The Perihelion, welcome to the co-pilot’s log system! here you’ll be able to access the crew’s profiles should you wish to read about their journeys: (no nsfw content)
[CAPTAIN] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
“if you fall for those dimples, then you’re already half-way in the hunter’s trap”
only a handful of people actually know of his origins, and being a changeling sure comes with a lot of perks for his (previous) field of work
[database file: changelings are nomadic beings, and are able to shift both face and form at will. There are no official records of a changeling’s standard/normal form, and very rarely would anyone get a chance to witness it. Most changelings take on forms of existing beings, depending on the location they’re at and how much they want to blend in, some preferring to add their own artistic flair on appearance]
San’s hair changes almost as quickly as he changes his dagger blades, his current hair of a rich dark brown colour with a turf of silver that never seem to stop shimmering slightly – much like moon light. Which makes his Selenian [database file: moon/silver elves] form all that more convincing
he started his mercenary life on the planet Tundaoria, where all main networks of black markets and underground work are based at
young blood with no last name, a growing reputation – San is an all-round enigma. But he had a talent for tracking, deadly accuracy and disappearing without a trace, hence nobody questioned him other than for getting a job done
he used to work with a small group, ‘Windstriders’, known for their efficient timeframe and clean work. People pay for the quality, majority of the time San worked with others but sometimes he might pick up a few solo missions on the side
earned the nickname ‘Dimples’ from his ex-team mates however whilst he seems harmless on first glance, “the kid? Aye he’s one big sweetheart he is”, he’s learnt to use that highly skewed perception to his advantage
that’s to say he’s managed to coax beings either to bed for a night of pleasure or their deathbeds, talk about deadly charisma
“so on average, what are the chances of someone walking out of your room alive?”
San prides himself with maintaining a level of morality, and won’t kill unless it’s the specific target themselves and/or out of self-defence for any unfortunate souls who decide to intervene with his job. Has nothing against stealing or gambling because, “what’s living without taking a few risks?”
lowkey has a soft spot for younglings and became unexpectedly close to a particular orphanage in a town on the far northern-side of the planet. The head guardian (most orphanages are cared by a guardian or two) found San passed out nearby after a particularly tedious mission and took him in for healing. Since then that place had become an unofficial healer’s spot and safe house
the younglings absolutely adored having him visit, especially when “look, look! The Moon Prince is here!”, bearing gifts such as trinkets, new toys or aleagette pastries [database: assorted savoury or sweet pastry-type snacks that melt in the mouth when eaten, the surprise is that the flavour isn’t known until the first bite]. San would later on start contributing part of his earnings towards the upkeep of the orphanage as a repayment for the guardians’ hospitality (and it’s really for the younglings but he won’t admit that)
every time a youngling treats him to a toothy smile, a wild giggle or when the bolder ones would run up and wrap their petite arms around his legs his fondness grows exponentially. Once, a guardian caught him helping the younglings doodle whatever their hearts desired on themselves so they could match the many permanent silver ink patterns that decorated his arms and back
“already influencing the little ones with your ways, Sannie?” (another nickname that the younglings picked up on and would parrot it back)
“I’ll have you know what we’re doing here is called art”
the one time San was caught off guard was having a past target’s associate track him down to his safe space and carry out a revenge attack – “you took my family away from me and now I’m going to take yours”
San never fully recovered (the invisible wounds at least) for causing innocents to get caught up in the crossfire, for realising too late how attached he’s become to these people and their meaningful presence in his life
as a parting favour, the Windstriders helped San relocate the survivors of the orphanage far away to the much more peaceful city of Aeria (known as ‘City of Healing’ on the planet Cidestea). They said goodbye to a reliable comrade, to his old identity, to his previous lifestyle; mutually promising that contact will only be made again in a dire situation as a last resort – Dimples was off the radar for good
5 years later, after a successful loot haul The Perihelion stopped by Aeria for a re-fuel and mainly because Seonghwa wouldn’t miss an opportunity to stock up on his medicinal herbs (also adopting some new plant children). Hongjoong led his small crew after being directed by a local to “the best tea spot in town” which turned out to be ‘Mosaic Brews’ run by none other than San
now sporting a more turquoise shade of hair and a woodland elven appearance where once silver ink ran along his skin, now a bold black-brown. The younglings who decided to stick by him now have grown too, toughened up by life yet maintained their soft innocence under San’s care for the past years
curiously they stared in awe at Yunho and Mingi, clearly never seeing such giants (to them) before, the older ones enthusiastically brought out the multi-coloured teas for their new guests and the younger ones were spoiled by Seonghwa’s constant cooing. Hongjoong thought San was more than what met his eyes, the seemingly bright shop owner who’s dimples were on full display and heartily conversed with the young captain still had a guarded air around him
it wasn’t until Yunho and Seonghwa gave a few Urousbaines (with captain’s approval of course, one does not just hand out rarities for free) from their loot to the younglings and San’s nonchalant reaction that got Hongjoong’s eyes sparkling
“don’t worry little one, the flower isn’t frozen, here pass me that water bowl.” and the younglings are still convinced till this day that San is some intergalactic prince with magical powers. Because right in front of their eyes the supposedly frozen flower bloomed and the sunlight refracted off its crystal-like petals, casting a spectrum of colours to fill the small shop
“oh how wondrous! How did you know to do that?” (…and San has left the chat)
A LOT of convincing was needed to get San to hear Hongjoong out (by now the crew knew what their captain wants, he gets) and only after tucking the younglings in for the evening in their rooms on the upper level of the shop did the serious talk start
San swore to leave that life behind but he would be kidding himself if he said he didn’t feel a slight tug at his heart for adventure, yet again. It was a tug-of-war between what the head knows vs. what the heart yearns for
“But Sannie how are you going to save the galaxy if you’re stuck here?” came the soft-spoken voice of the youngest and the group nearly had whiplash turning around. The younglings had snuck downstairs and listened in on the convo, knowing it’ll be sad to part with San but even sadder for him to purposely hold back
the younglings won the debate, that they weren’t naïve nor helpless anymore and together they could take care of themselves and the shop – after all they’ve only learnt from the best (San did notify some of the locals whom were trusted regulars of his temporary leave and to keep an eye on the younglings in his stead)
Yunho offered a communication bot to keep in touch so San could check-in whenever he wished, the younglings were fascinated as the Sheirzoi showed them how to work it and a chorus of “oohs” and “ahhs” were heard when they saw the main deck of the ship through the screen. At present, he made sure to check-in at least once every week, all smiles & dimples when he sees the little ones’ faces squeezed into the single screen
San held onto the younglings right up until he boarded The Perihelion, and making sure to wave back until they were right out of sight. He packed simply but made sure to put up some of the drawings the younger ones gifted him up on his room’s walls and the ‘lucky charm’ that got braided into his hair was worn proudly (the older kids had woven a band with colourful beads & crystallised Echetta wings they found in the garden – from the ‘lucky butterfly’)
the crew reminded him of his old team, how they looked out for one another despite not being blood-related but nevertheless a family of sorts. Eventually everyone found out of his changeling abilities after he nearly gave them a heart attack, “SAN! YOU’RE PURPLE…WHY IS YOUR SKIN PURPLE?!”
Hongjoong never dug too deep into San’s past but was very grateful and appreciative of his fighting skills, thus made him in charge of training the others to be able to defend themselves at least. Cue strict combat trainer San to pop out (Yeosang adds a new curse word to his vocab list after every lesson)
they’ve seen his lethal side where he went on a rampage after Seonghwa got shot
Is probably the only one Jongho trusts to trial his new weapons without blowing something or someone up accidentally
argues with the hot-headed Wooyoung frequently that sometimes Seonghwa has to put them in time-out, initially was legit arguments but now it’s more with an affectionate undertone
Hongjoong and Seonghwa nearly gave him ‘the space dad & mum talk’ after, “bloody hell did you get attacked or something?” upon seeing an array of purple-pink marks across San’s neck when he came stumbling back to the ship just near dawn. The faint scent of perfume lingering and tousled hair gave away that much. “At least leave us a message if not we’re sending the precious cargo retrieval brigade next time”
recently adopted a Kiatrafel [database file: small winged feline-like creature that can spit fire], he calls her “my girl” and is in the midst of training it to not mark its territory everywhere (including on people)
“SAN! Your hellcat just pissed on Hongjoong...again and coughed up flames on Yunho’s notes. Captain says if you don’t come within 5 seconds he’s throwing her down the chute”

I want more hk headcanons please. ÒwÓ
Thanks for the ask!
You might want to head over to @hongkongenthusiast and ask them, because I haven’t paid that much thought to HK (if you are @hongkongenthusiast then what are you doing here you probably have a million more headcanons than me lol). However, I shall try to satisfy you:
- I have an (probably forever) unfinished College AU Iceland x Reader, and in it I set HK as a tech savvy business student whose part time job is getting called to dorms to fix people’s devices, and he makes a decent amount of money off of that. He’s also a Soundcloud artist in the AU, and I can honestly see that in canonverse too. (Also, I’m calling for ANY college/school AU headcanons! Just drop them in the asks or something! I love thinking about that stuff!!)
- HK has memes. Lots of them. He makes memes out of the countries’ faces too; at world meetings, if one of them has some strange reaction to something, he manages to take a picture and make it grosser, then posts it on social media.
- Goes to get togethers with the younger/teen nations where they try to do normal human teen stuff. Sometimes China lets HK host it at China’s house because it’s bigger than HK’s, and usually he just turns it into a big party (and a Big Headache for China: if HK’s theme song is anything to go by, I can see China being like “Turn off the loud banging! Respect your elder’s ears!” lol)
- He’s so fashionable it hurts. Like he’s always on the trends, has Top Brands and stuff. Or at least it looks like that to others, nobody can really tell if he’s wearing a real Gucci coat or if it’s one of his knockoffs.
- I just read a bit of Wikipedia on HK’s history with a) China, b) England, c) Japan, and d) England again, and so: HK probably would’ve been a kid when he got handed over to England, since he didn’t really industrialize/grow in population or infrastructure until England came along, and I think that would physically make him young. England (in accordance with @hongkongenthusiast ‘s headcanon) was more like HK’s teacher than his temporary parent. I think England would have (being an arrogant bastard like all the old dirtbags) prided himself on being Gentlemanly and Civilized and Industrialized, and he “taught” HK that stuff (England’s colonial occupation brought things like buses and trains and communication lines to HK). Basically England introduced him to the products of the Western world, and kinda opened his eyes to what Europe was like? Or at least what England was sorta like. But there also seemed (correct me if wrong) to be a certain amount of racism present between colonizer and colony? There was apparently a 3rd Episode of the Bubonic Plague and it hit HK, and all Europeans were moved to a place called Victoria Peak; lots of the people living there were the elites, who could have as many as 20 Chinese servants (the move can be argued as health precaution or racial zoning). So idk how much England actually “loved” HK, he might have just been exploiting him? And also, at the beginning of England’s rule there was a 6 day rebellion where some people decided to fight the English govt because they feared changes to traditional customs and stuff. If HK were involved I see him just playing on the street one day, and somehow being taken in by one of the leaders of the rebellion, and then learning about why those people were planning to fight for. After that I see Hong Kong being really skeptical of England at first, especially since China gave him up unwillingly. Idk how Chinese-HK relations were before the England colonization, but I hc China was sorta protective of HK, and he didn’t always tell Leon what was happening when things got bad... and I think collapse of the Qing and Opium War counts as things going bad... so I think Leon might have been under the delusion/impression that England was kinda just kidnapping him instead of trying to make his life better? But England wasn’t really trying to protect HK for his sake, he was just sorta looking for an advantage so... I think the Eng-HK relationship is kinda cold, not as warm as China-HK before everything went downhill. But HK, because his sorta-independence and infrastructure development, started growing more physically.
As for the Japanese invasion, they pretty brutally struck opposition down when they arrived. The British pulled out quickly, and I think that’s the nail in the coffin for England and Hong Kong, idk how apathetic HK looked/felt when he was young, but I think he’d at least be a little hurt that England first took him away from China and then just left him to fend for himself when things were rough... even if after the brief occupation England and HK kinda went back to normal, the power transition was smooth. Ok I don’t plan on turning this into historical hetalia but basically I’m conflicted on HK-Eng-Chn-Jpn relations in history.
- I don’t know how long it takes in the morning to make hair look like HK’s, but I think he must have a pretty extensive beauty/care routine? In the young people internet age with selfies and everything, I think he’d do his best to Look GoodTM (for the cameras, of course).
- I think HK is always up for a day just lazing chilling around his house, perhaps watching TV or texting Emil or the other young nations. He might also go to China’s to annoy him.
- Lowkey cares about people (also taken from @hongkongenthusiast) but doesn’t show it often. I think he and Taiwan both have a thing where they panic if something bad happens to China, but Taiwan shows her panic more, while HK is just internally screaming. Teacher’s ill?? Why? He hasn’t been sick lately, what’s wrong with him? Idk or maybe I’m being too sympathetic to China, it might not be this way after the HK protests and stuff.
- Also, if an Elder (looking @ you China and England) catches him swearing, HK is a master of censoring things, or making up code words. This is kinda inspired by the protestor code words, like “I’m doing magic” means “I’m lighting something on fire” for the HK protests. But in regular contexts, he’s very good at covering up sensitive information.
- He doesn’t have as many nation-duties as China or England, so he’s got more time to do human stuff. I think he’d like to go wandering around the city and seeing what the trends are, and maybe send some funny photos back to the young nation group chat or something.
- He’s stated to be punished by England for setting off firecrackers, and I’m pretty sure he figured out England hated those (because 1. they’re loud and 2. they remind him of America’s Independence Day firework celebrations and 3. maybe he doesn’t like Chinese New Year because it was a tie that connected HK to China and the rest of the Asians? That tie could have inspired loyalty with the Asians and tore him away from England). Therefore, because HK is a prankster and quietly mischievous, I think he just liked them more because he found out it annoyed England. Also they’re loud and fiery and I think he’d appreciate that?
Ok that’s it I’ve run out of headcanons for him. Thanks for asking and ask for more if you want (but I probably won’t give you many back)!

⧼    jung jaehyun, nonbinary, he/him   /   power & control by marina and the diamonds   +   the sound of rain and thunder in a really dark knight, alluring smiles with hidden secrets, the exhilarating thrill of getting what you want    ⧽   ━━      don’t look now, but that’s ASRA PARK. the twenty two ( fifty eight ) year old vampire has been here in seattle for two months, and is considered a member of the volturi. they’ve always been easy going & hard-working, but i guess this town just brings out the worst in people ; apparently, they’ve been way more manipulative & morally questionable than usual. it wouldn’t surprise me if they knew what was going on.
ABILITY: power mimicry.
BACKSTORY;
born in south korea under the name of minho park. his previous ( human ) life is something he’d rather forget. from a young age, he’d always felt like he was born in the wrong level of society; his family struggled to make ends meet every single day, they had to work for cruel people that’d never give them enough for their efforts and didn’t have the privilege of catching a break. it made him feel powerless, at the mercy of those lucky enough to have been born into luxury.
everyone around always told him he’d been gifted with the charms to get far in life. and so, he used everything he had to his advantage. at first, his excuse was being able to provide for his family; but deep down he knew he was doing it for himself. he didn’t want to live the rest of his life in poverty, he wanted power, he wanted everything.
he became a con artist, a chameleon of sorts. tricking people left and right. he wasn’t above doing questionable things if the price met his expectations; as long as the job paid well everything was fair game. as far as he was concerned the world was either give or take, and he wasn’t gonna be the one they took from anymore.
during one of his many “jobs” he managed to catch the watchful eye of some... different kind of people, if they could even be called that; they were too perfect, too powerful to be compared to a mere human. and so, an offer was made. asra hasn’t looked back ever since. it was all he ever wanted after all: power, control, strength, luxury with the added bonus of... immortality.
he joined this asian coven in a heartbeat, his adaptable personality allowed him to learn everything he needed to know in no time. what he used to do for money was now all about the thrill, he didn’t have to worry about survival anymore.
he still cared about his family, regularly delivering anything he could get his hands on, to keep them at ease. if they caught on to what he was now, they never spoke about it. they treated him the same, they were the only tie he had in the human world. unfortunately, this didn’t last long. or at least, not as long as he would have wanted. jealousy plagued those around his parents, those that witnessed the small family thriving thanks to his only son; and so, they destroyed the only good thing asra had in this world. whatever was left of his humanity died with his family in a rampage that destroyed the entire village. and with that, that chapter of his life was promptly closed for no one to ever know.
no longer feeling attached to his hometown, he roamed different cities, countries alongside his coven; the world was limitless for him and this newfound power. doing whatever he pleased to enjoy his immortal life to the fullest.
a few decades passed by, some battles won and others lost; a new life and a different name altogether. he was technically a nomad when he set foot in italy. his slightly reckless feeding behavior instantly caught the attention of the vampiric royalty; the volturi. they spared his life only after seeing the potential in him, the hidden ability he was unaware of. asra didn’t think twice about it, he joined them without a second thought. if he was going to be part of something it better be the best.
once again he learned the ropes almost immediately, his personality and way of thinking; seemed to match that of the volturi coven perfectly.
he started to practice with his ability daily, wanting to master it fully. it took a few years but he reached his goal. despite the limitations, he only needs to be in the same room as the person he was to mimic the ability from; the power lasting anywhere from an hour to three depending on his focus. it comes in handy whenever his leaders need it and he couldn’t be any prouder.
OTHER INFO;
asra seems serious but he’s actually a big goof. loves to mess with people and pull pranks.
easy going and smart, also a little bit manipulative sometimes.
unless they’re orders, he just does as he wants.
extremely morally grey, rarely thinks about the implications of his actions. if he wants or needs something he’s going to get it no matter what.
emotions are lost on him, he’s not very empathetic; and has a habit of bottling things up.
keeps people away so they don’t get to know him; but he likes to know about people ( mainly to use the info against them, but he’s lowkey very nosey )
likes animal better than people; although he finds both amusing.
doesn’t exclusively think of humans as food, but if it’s them or him; there’s pretty much no choice to make.
he actually goes out a lot ( after taking the necessary precautions to not get beheaded and burned ), he likes to watch people do mundane things; finds it very entertaining
edward’s main partner, his influencer of sorts. not exactly friends but not enemies either, something in the middle. the leader of the volturi hoped some of his morally grey antics would rub off on the new member of the coven. and although he tried his best, the other vampire was ultimately good at heart. so different from one another. it didn’t help at all that upon their first meeting asra’s power mimicry allowed him to turn edward’s ability against him and see everything he’s been through. the amount of material he has, is simply too much to not use for his own entertainment. and so, asra’s new mission in life was to simply... mess with the newcomer; always finding his reactions amusing.
really good with technology, makes a point to learn about all the new things happening around the world.
if you think asra would fit any of the plots you have right now, hit me up! i’m game for pretty much anything tbh. i’ll probably have some wanted connections sometime soon? who knows. that’s it for now, thanks for reading if u did!
