Jjba Stardust Crusaders Ep. 34-39 Thoughts
Tumblr media
Under the cut
Ep. 34-35 (D'Arby)
Tumblr media
These episodes were pretty solid! Good setup and pay-offs.
The opening scene is so funny to me, they are all synced... wow
D'Arby is entertaining, his Japanese VA really does a lot ot he work, despite the dodgy English. I'd say his stand ability is a bit too obvious, taking people's soulds by gambling. I feel like something more interesting could have been done but it's fine as is, the stand's design makes up for it.
Tumblr media
Also, this episode implies people in JJBA have souls? I'm saying implied because it's a real possibility that those are not actual souls, just a part of stands ability.
I love how fucking pissed Advol is this episode. I can't blame him.
I initially thought this was gonna be a Joseph episode since he is a natural gambler. I did like the direction they took. It's showing us that even someone like Joseph can't out cheat D'arby, getting rid of that as an option.
It's a bit weird that Joseph doesn't use hamon to keep the drink from spilling. Hamon would make too much noise, I guess?
Tumblr media
The confortation between D'Arby and Jotaro was the best part, I think. It's entirely non-combat but the show utilizes a lot of the tactics it uses for fight scenes. With the lines and the colors and the music.
Jotaro is secretly the funniest character in part 3 and nothing will change my mind. He has Star Platinum bring him a drink and light his cig while betting his and his friends' souls. He could have done all these thing without being so extra about it.
D'Arby fucked up by letting Jotaro bet people's souls with a contract. I sure he thought there is no way he would go for it. He doesn't even flinch when betting Kakyoin's soul which is so funny to me. If the group is going down I'm taking him with us too. He doesn't get a pass just because he is away in the hospital.
Then he bets his own mother's soul. I was sort of expecting that to happen since if he dies, Holly will die too anyway.
I think he should have bet Iggy's soul too while D'Arby was panicking just to get the point across lol
Yeah these episodes were fun. The mechanics around the contracts gets a bit confusing if you think about it but who cares.
Ep. 36-37
Tumblr media
I did say before that I would kill to see Hol Horse and DIO interact and guess what?? It was so worth it. I liked this way more than the DIO scenes before.
Otherwise? I struggle to find anything to talk about. I feel like this was just here just because of the set up from earlier, in the Justice episode. It would be worse if they never acknowledged Hol Horse at all.
My question is that, Is the scene with DIO earlier the reason Hol Horse's watch is wrong? I already know DIO's power is stopping time cuz everyone who has heard of JoJo knows. Let's be real. It doesn't make that much sense when I think about it but I assumed that was what they intended while watching.
Ep. 38-39 (Pet Shop)
Tumblr media
I was really mixed on it initially but I think I like it a lot now. A fight scene between a superpowered bird and a dog have no right to be this well done.
The most notable thing I don't like about it is a personal preference. I don't like when animals in a show are anthropomorphized. Because part of the fun of an animal companion is that they don't think like us. The most amount of it I don't mind is Missile from Ghost Trick, as an example. Even the way he is drawn now anthropomorphizes him.
I did love the fight scenes. I love that whenever Iggy thinks he has escaped he gets found again.
Tumblr media
The shows stops in it's tracks sometimes to tell us how COOL and FEROCIOUS hawks are, just really hyping up Pet Shop.
Speaking of Pet Shop, I really like him. I've found the Engrish names in JJBA charming, It gives a completely different vibe to those who know English compared to Japanese people who do not. It's not intended but it is either really funny or really bold. Pet Shop's name shows that well.
His design is strangely cute. Intimidating but also cute :) It's funny to think how DIO recruited him. Did DIO gave that outfit to him??
When Iggy started having flashbacks I thought "Holy shit is he gonna actually die??" You know how jjba is, if we learn a character's backstory it means death for them. The show knows this. It waits for the last possible second to save him, to make you think he was gonna die for real.
It was really sad seeing Iggy struggle to walk. I said I don't like tiny dogs but what I dislike even more is how much jjba loves torturing dogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Kakyoin is back. With sick shades too. I don't know why he has them, maybe his eyes are sensitive to light after treatment? They are a bit extra, sure, but they also fit his character really well for some reason. I appreciate this costume change and that he has scars left from the incident.
I love that everyone rushes towards him, sort of hugging and and then Jotaro is just like 😐. I know he is emo but he could at least pretend to be a bit more excited.
The translator of the manga I was reading even left a little note on top going "MY BRO MY BRO IS BACK".
They have found DIO's hideout so... we are reaching the end. I am excited but also a little bit scared.
People wouldn't be praising this part ao much if it had a horrible ending, so I'm not really worried about it being bad, at least.
Praying for my lads to make it out alive lol
I will try to watch the last 9 episodes as soon as possible.

Trash is Fun! (Demo) Review (PC)
"Trash is fun. That definitely sounds like a Krissie game…" -My wife
Tumblr media
Trash is fun is a small indie game I had on my steam wish-list for a while, and I decided to try out their demo recently. It's a multiplayer based game where human greed and carelessness has caused a deadly chain reaction - the polar ice caps have been melted by global warming, releasing a virus that caused all humans to turn into zombies! Luckily for several species of critter though, the virus has instead mutated them into being anthropomorphic and possessing human-level intelligence (which they don't seem to mind, thankfully) and just in time too, because if the sick and zombified humans weren't bad enough, piles of trash are also mutating into a monstrous zombie form and coming after our critter heroes! Aye Carumba!
Tumblr media
The game-play takes a very party game-style approach where 1-4 players can work together on a single screen to complete various tasks with the ultimate goal of cleaning up the air pollution by sorting, condensing and disposing of garbage. While doing so, players will also have to fend off attacking zombies using things like turrets and flamethrowers. There's a variety of cute critters you can place as (including a fox, yay!), which each player gets to select at the start of every level.
Tumblr media
The demo is pretty short, but at-least let me get a feel for the game's basics. There's one story mission and 1 zombie mission you can play. The story mission is light on zombies, but tasks you with sorting 4 types of garbage into compactors, and you can then take the compacted bales to the "o2" machine, which I assume either incinerates or recycles it. Also, the machine has a relaxing shark on top, I'm not sure why, but it's cute. :D Oddly, if you finish the story mission, you get an intro for the second mission, but can't actually play it.
Tumblr media
In the demo's zombie mission, the goal is to simply see how long you can last until the zombies take out your 02 machine and kill you. You have a flamethrower, a single turret and barricade to hold them off. Most zombies show up at the barricade, but occasionally ones will parachute in at random locations so you can to run and take them out quickly. The flamethrower seems to have a cool-down time, as if you try to spam it too often some odd sound plays and you have to wait a second. The flamethrower also has a short "ready" animation, so you do have to time things carefully to get a good shot at the zombies around you.
Tumblr media
Some of the game's tutorials are presented through art rather than words, which has a charm to it, and does help with communicating ideas without the need for language translations (It's a Ukrainian game). I played the demo alone, but from what I've read, the game supports local co-op (good!) and the full version on steam lets you do that fancy "Steam Play" thing for online multiplayer, which I don't know much about outside of the time I used it to play a game with my friend Mason.
Tumblr media
Overall, the demo seems promising, and it is DRM Free on both Steam and Itch Io! I have reached out to the dev team on Itch Io to find out if the full version on Steam is also DRM Free, and if so, I would be happy to support this little indie title with a purchase. The full Steam version also comes with an option to purchase the game's soundtrack, and steam game soundtracks are always DRM free mp3s, so that's a plus too! I dig on the game's cute animal characters, the funny name, and the game's positive social message (take care of the environment!). The game's dev team was all teenage kids too, so that's pretty impressive!
Tumblr media
You can get DRM Free demo here on itch.io or here on Steam!

James Gunn Presents: Guardians of the Capeshit Formula Vol. 549
Featuring
WHITE MAN, easy-going, makes jokes, always confused, the kind of guy you want to have a beer with, everyman, Literally Me, default human, not political
EXOTIC WOMAN, looks like a model, has unusual skin color (not white), only person in the entire cast who is not a liability, sexy but not sexual because sex doesn't real, White Man wants her to be his girlfriend but he must Prove Himself first, when he does she will be his reward but tragically she will probably die to motivate him
SMARTMOUTH ANIMAL, a cute anthropomorphic animal that might be the director's barely-disguised fetish, says snarky quips, makes fun of stupid things before the audience gets a chance to, does dangerous things that frequently come very close to killing them all, hilariously angry, behaves compulsively, exchanges regular verbal abuse with friends but it's nice but not really and everyone really hurts each other's feelings
MUTE COLOSSUS, a large thing, whatever, could be anything but must be cute, makes noises that everyone else seems to understand, should easily be rendered in plastic for purposes of selling children "toys" that will sit on a shelf for twenty years and then take up space in a landfill for the next 100,000 years
MAN WITH NO BRAIN, not stupid but yes actually very stupid, it's kind of surprising he hasn't already been killed several times over, doesn't have any abilities except to say things that are so ridiculously stupid that even the average toddler finds him annoying, occasionally makes a poop reference which might also be the director's barely-disguised fetish
WOMAN WITH NO BRAIN, pretty much the same thing but booba
ANGRY WOMAN, wears several layers of prosthetics and makeup to guarantee an authentic performance from the actor, least stupid of the entire crew but so angry that every action is impulsive, everything she says is angry, and it's hard to blame her because she is surrounded by dumbshits
DIRECTOR'S BROTHER, Mom said give your brother a part and he sighed heavily and said "okaaaay I guess we can find him something"
ACT ONE
Popular "80s song" from the 70s plays while the crew barely accomplishes a simple task, almost dying several times in the process because of the general dumbshittery of almost the entire cast. Simple narration tells us what has changed since we last saw the group and makes several references to events from five or six different movies and/or television shows that only a handful of dedicated Nerd Cultists have watched. The group performs an advertisement for an unhealthy product and winks at the camera. Suddenly a character from the comic books that only Nerd Cultists recognize comes along and tells White Man something about a close relative or something, I don't know, maybe he has a sister or some shit. They all leave their home base while another popular 80s song from the 70s plays loudly. White Man tells us all about the song and makes reference to several 80s movies while everyone pretends to be interested. Poop joke.
ACT TWO
Turns out White Man's sister lives in a place that looks like every other place they go even though this is definitely a place they haven't been before. The sky is a blend of red and blue and purple, or maybe just orange and a few shades of orange. Sister welcomes the crew, watches as the crew break things while doing stupid shit. Several more poop jokes. 70s song that might be an 80s song I don't know let me get my phone.
Sister gives a long backstory about her relation to White Man and their Tragically Dead Father or maybe their other Tragically Dead Father, I don't know, they have a few of them I guess. This one is also played by an actor who was a popular leading man in the 80s, I bet Steve Guttenberg could use a Disney paycheck. It's not clear if Tragically Dead Father is actually dead, who knows, they do another commercial for a popular but unhealthy product, more funny stuff happens, Deadpool appears, says "OMG so random!" and leaves.
ACT THREE
Holy shit, in a big surprise twist it turns out Sister is evil and Tragically Dead Father is alive! The movie transforms into a cartoon and they all fight! There's a sky beam because of the obligation! Half of the main cast dies but then it turns out they are okay! Sister gets killed but who knows because she literally just disappears, on the off chance she ends up super popular we'll want to bring her back a few sequels down the road! The Guardians of the Status Quo will live on to be in another movie except for that one character played by an actor who would rather drink cyanide than be in another fucking Marvel movie! Play another popular song from the 70s that might be from the 80s!
THE END
Except no, I think Julia Louise-Dreyfus is going to show up and talk to White Man for a minute.
THE END
Except no, there's a scene where the Mute Colossus does something cute to make people want the product it is advertising.
THE END
Except no, one more poop joke.

Top 10 Anime (That I've Seen) in 2020
Well now, it has certainly been awhile. I'm currently sitting at eight months too late for posting this, but, y'know, something something life happens. More accurately, I already made this list, but wanted to try out what response I'd get from Reddit. Turns out, they're not as cool as you guys!
Anyways, as the title states, this is not a list of my favorite anime that came out during 2020, but instead my favorite anime that I just so happen to see during that year. While it's fun to have an end of the year retrospective, I find that having a list in this format not only adds variety, but also helps bring attention to anime that might have been lost in the shuffle in previous years (I also don't have enough time to stay caught up in seasonal releases).
Honorable mentions:
Aggretsuko S3, My Hero Academia S4, Today's Menu For the Emiya Family, Interspecies Reviewers (yes, really), and I Couldn't Become a Hero So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job
Tumblr media
10. Maid-Sama (2010)
In hindsight, I find it a bit funny that I wanted to watch something wholesome to kick off 2020. Anyway, Maid-Sama is about a high school girl that is also a no nonsense Class President and she kind of has to be at a school where, until recently, was an all boys school. While she kills it in academics and is good at shutting down any shenanigans from the male student body, her financial situation isn't the greatest and has to balance a job at a maid cafe along with her school-related responsibilities. She does her best to hide her employment there to keep up appearances, but is one day found out by one of the boys who happens to be a big flirt and, yeah, hijinks ensue. While this anime doesn't have too many surprises, our main leads bounce off each other well enough to keep me entertained. Nothing I haven't seen already in other anime Rom-Coms, but I think it has more than earned its place at the start of this list.
Tumblr media
9. Haganai NEXT (2013)
It's a personal rule of mine when making these lists that I don't include sequels of shows that were in previous lists. While I DID see the first season of Haganai a couple of years ago, it didn't quite make it into the top ten at that time. Because of that, it meets the criteria for this year's list. While I found the characters were just as charming here as I did during the first season, the development of their relationships really took off. It's a shame that it will most likely not get a third season, but I'm happy with what ride this show gave me. But hey! At least I can read the light novels/manga to continue the story! Wait, nevermind, the Haganai fans on Reddit are saying that's a bad idea.
Tumblr media
8. Engaged to the Unidentified (2014)
Based off of a Four Panel joke manga, Engaged to the Unidentified tells the story of a girl in high school suddenly getting some life changing news. As it turns out, her grandfather made an arranged engagement with her and the son of a family he knew. Next thing she knows, the boy in question, as well as his little sister, moves into her family's house! While the boy is unassuming at first, there may be more to him and his family than he lets on. Plain and simple, this anime has charmed me. There's a decent amount of drama and mystery despite the source material and I applaud it! Even though this also doesn't have much new to offer, even to the point where I would compare this to Maid-Sama, what made me pick this at the 8th spot were the color choices and animation quality. Give this a shot if you can!
Tumblr media
7. Grimoire of Zero (2017)
It's a fantasy/adventure story starring a loli sorcerer and a huge, anthropomorphic white tiger man. I honestly can't say anything else. I won't be able to do it justice. That first sentence should intrigue you a lease a little bit. Read it, again. Please check it out. It's an underrated gem that no one is talking about.
Tumblr media
6. ID: Invaded (2020)
Hey, here's something recent! Unfortunately, this is also not something I can say much about. There may not be too many deep characters and the secret bad guy isn't hard to figure out, but BOY is this anime cool! The best way to describe this series is that it's like the movie Inception, but instead of brain heists, it's brain murder mysteries.
Tumblr media
5. Carole and Tuesday (2019)
A runaway rich girl has a fated meeting with an orphan and they decide to make music together...oh, this also takes place Mars. Joking aside, this show was something special with its music (a new song almost every episode no less), interesting setting (freaking Mars, dude), and endearing main cast. Shoot, the music itself would be top 3, maybe number 1, but what bogs it down is the show's second half. I can easily see myself watching this again someday, and maybe my opinion will lighten up, but for now, 5 is a dang good spot.
Tumblr media
4. Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front - Babylonia (2019)
Part of me hesitates placing this high up on list due to this show being animated, fan service spectacle for Fate fans. However, that hesitation is overshadowed by the fact that I am a Fate fan myself and I can do whatever I want with this list. Even if you're not a Fate fan or play FGO, if you enjoy some solid fight animation, this is worth a look.
Tumblr media
3. K-On S1 (2009)
I'll admit it, I might regret not watching the second season then putting the series on the list as a whole, but this how I've been doing these lists and I'm such a creature of habit. There's not much I can say about K-On that hasn't already been said. By itself it's an anime classic and one of Kyo-ani's biggest properties. It's a sweet and wholesome watch, but be sure to have some insulin within reach.
Tumblr media
2. Princess Principal (2017)
Imagine you're working with a team of programmers trying to make a mobile game then all of a sudden someone asks to make a show out of it. You know, a show with different character motivations, plot, twist and turns and all that? Most might say that's just a shameless, shallow cash grab, but it turns out okay for Princess Principal. Sure, most might summarize this anime as, "cute girls doing espionage things," but with its cast, visuals, and interesting alternative timeline, it works! Apparently there's a new season or movie in the works and I am all for it!
Tumblr media
1. Beastars (2019)
I was not expecting this to be number one, but with much deliberation (with myself obviously) this feels right. It tells a pretty unique story while showing itself to be the exception to the rule when it comes to 3D anime.....it being that it's actually good. While I acknowledge that shows like K-On are classics and deserves to be number one on many different lists, it didn't line up with my personal criteria like Beastars did. My biggest deciding factor is: Now that I've watched this, do I want more? It's true that while I'm excited to start K-On S2, Beastars intrigues me more and ever since season two was announced, I'm looking forward to that more.
Sorry again for this list being so late, but at least the silver lining is that the next end of the year list is about four months away (in theory)!

Ideas I've had for dnd/tabletop role playing campaigns:
1. Everyone's in a forest beast world and are like, anthropomorphic animals like mice or badgers or lizards, evem bugs! and are the same size as normal them. Their weapons and armour would be styled like woodland nature stuff or human trash i.e. A mouse using thumb tacs as daggers.
This one I feel is more aimed towards having a cute vibe to it, but could easily go down the route of Redwall or Warrior Cats and ha e some darker vibes to it too.
2. Stealing the plot of the Steven Universe movie since none of my friends have seen it and I think I could get them to cry over the Spinel stand in villain/friend.
Basing it in a fantasy setting I'd replace the gem reset mechanic with some sort of time travel fiasco. The garden can be a fantastical fantasy magic Grove or even a huge castle sumthin like that. The fun part would be getting them to make all these characters with interconnected backstories and pasts and allocating only one of them to remember it all uwu
Bonus, I get to use the soundtrack as background music, utilising the story beats in it to help accent the revelations in game.
Tumblr media
3. Players are locked in a medieval city which is plague ridden. They have to escape. Avoiding catching the deathly illness and fighting gangs and guards to save any chance of getting out alive they'd have to deal/barter, sneak around alleys and hidden passages or fight their way through the high city walls. The players could even have friends or family that they want/need to bring with them out of the city to add more challenge!
Pros of this include, funny gang and guard office comedy routines, cool ass plague doctor aesthetics, and familial/close bonds being stressed for me to toy with their emotions!
4. The UnAlive game! The party are all undead!!! They want to change that! The necromancer that brought them back got crushed under a rock or overly ambitious skull for his next project and didn't drain their will away so it's now their perogative to find a way to restore their beating hearts (or whatever pumped precious life energy throughout their body)! Having to disguise themselves or convince townsfolk to let them in, this would be a fun angle for experienced players to have to think from! Even if they've played an undead before, there can't have been many people who've been in a whole party of them!
I've been saving a character for this who is an undead Bard who playes the guitar, his name is Dead Sheeran
5. Sci-fi superhero game!! Think like how overwatch has a bunch of superheros that are made through science and technology but have magical like powers too! I've already run a game like this, Basing it in a military like institute very much Like overwatch as a way to get the players on missions. Instead! This new game shall be them playing as Villains!! Now, I'm not too much of a fan of evil games as they do end up making people second guess themselves when it comes to harming the public and stuff like that, stupid morals (this is a joke. I also don't like running them since it leaves a bad taste in my mouth) so! These evil vagabonds shall be attempting to take over the world, megamind style! They dont want to kill anyone, they just want to right the wrong they see in the world! And be flamboyant and extra with every step of the way! Their secret base is in a volcano for petes sake! The evil mastermind sends them out on their next eeeeviiil mission to *looks at smudges writing on hand* kidnap the presidents daughter!... Again!!....
If anyone thinks this sounds fun, I urge you to check out the system Wild Talents. It's a little dense and a tad confusing on first read, but it let's you make a detailed superpower with limitations and everything! I used it for the said overwatch-like game I ran and it was heaps of fun once it got rolling!
(Edit- As I was using them as examples and not claiming credit for them I thought it would be fine using images to get the vibes of the campaigns down but it felt like reposting and I don't want to deal with the tumblr ballache so they're gone except the SU gif cos that's straight from the show)

Spirited Away (2001) Review
Spirited Away is a movie that I've seen frames of and hear praises for since as long as I could remember. It's a later Studio Ghibli movie, and easily one of the most iconic of the assortment I plan to get through on this blog.
Despite the fact the movie was so present in pop culture for so long, I never stopped to think about how old it actually is. The reason for that is the first thing you'll notice when you watch the movie; it's animation. Right off the bat you'll see timeless animation that looks on par with some more recent animes, but with the touch and details of anything hand drawn carefully. It's easily the biggest strength of the film and a huge reason people love it (and Ghibli films in general). Although I can't yet speak for other Ghibli movies yet, the animation in Spirited Away specifically works in even more ways than just looking great as, given the plot of the film, it also helps establish it's setting and atmosphere.
Spirited Away, as the title hints towards, explores a spirit realm that co-exists on our world that our child protagonist, Chihiro Ogino, finds herself stumbling into during the moving process into her new home. Unfortunately for Chihiro, this adventure embarks in incredibly distressing context as, due to their negligence, her parents found themselves victims to the spirit realm's bizareness. Having end up turned to pigs, Chihiro's parents now must depend on their daughter to learn the ways of this spirit realm to find a chance to get her parents back to normal, and to get them back home.
This journey to a resolution is where the movie really starts climbing up to its climax. With our protagonist now roaming the spirit realm, we go full on crazy with the beings that exist in it. Anthropomorphic frogs, witches, ghouls, dragons, all that good stuff. And each design has such great love embedded into it that you just wanna stop and stare whenever a funky looking character shows up.
Unfortunately, this is kind of where the craftsmanship of the movie isnt as fun anymore. This movie's plot is set up really well. It's world is set up really well. But, man, its story hits an unfortunate decline in terms of how engaging it is.
Chihiro is explained immediately that she must be contracted to a labor provider in order to stay in this spirit realm, and eventually she gets a job. The journey she undergoes to land the job is sweet and all, but then she gets a position as a hotel worker and its just weird in terms of story. During her employement, Chihiro just does a lot of nothing. We see her interact with the hotel staff and the wild assortment of guests, and all of that is great. It helps build the atmosphere, and it helps provide characters for our protagonist's traits to bounce off of so we get to know who she is. However, it's also pausing the intense conflict of her parents turning to pigs and being in danger of being killed at any moment, to show Chihiro clean floors or banter with her mentor, or help a client. A majority of the movie is just thinking "hey, thats really funny and cute, well animated, and straight up cool, but where's the plot. Why is this happening?".
This happens A LOT through the movie, and all it does is makes me wish Spirited Away was a short animated series about the hotel and its awesome variety of guests because thats easily what youre going to remember most about the movie, even though, again, it didn't actually move the plot at all. This is why this movie's so hard to actually formally talk about for me right now. Because I definitely saw a lot of stuff happen, but not much of it actually contributed to the main character's goals. Instead she just constantly gets saved by plot armor and insane coincidences.
Anyone who has watched this movie knows I haven't mentioned the main male character of the movie who's name I've already forgotten. Thats because despite being constantly talked about and seen, the only thing I can recall he did of value to help Chihiro, was tell her to get a job 15 minutes into the movie. Beyond that he was just filler for the movie to try to add some personality to it's cast of support characters. That pretty much sums up my biggest issue with the movie; it's very very empty. And even though the setting and atmosphere is done INCREDIBLY fantastic, when it comes to movies, i don't want to just sit and look at cool designs. The lack of satisfying plot unfortunately hinders the movie a lot of me. I almost wish it was entirely intended for kids, so I can pass it off as just being meant as pretty stuff to look at, but with smoking, monsters, some violence, a bit of blood, and some generally disturbing (for children) scenes, the movie just isn't even that.
I'm sure people can tell me where theres significance in the movie's writing, but the thing is, I see it, its just not relevant. You can pretend to argue that the movie was about Chihiro's growth and determination because she seemed shy and cowardly in the beginning of the film, but she wasn't being cowardly, she was being rational and her parents (like I said at the beginning) were being negligent of their own safety and the safety of their daughter's life. Thats why I exclusively mentioned her parent's lack of thinking, because why should I want Chihiro to change when her hestiance seemed more like rationality when it was the only reason she didn't get turned to a pig destined to be killed like her parents.
Even if she DID have to change, there blatantly just wasn't any actual development. She was scared of a staircase like 50ft tall at one point, but that's rational too. Whenever she had to do anything absurd like care for monster clients or clean or anything work related she didnt even remotely hesitate so I genuinely did not once feel she even was actually cowardly because she immediately adjusted to the spirit realm.
She's not the only issue with this. We have a sort of antagonist called No-Face who also despite being in a vast majority of the film, wasn't actually relevant to the plot enough to mention until now, who had a symbolism thing going on where you'd only be victim of his gimmick if you were greedy. And yeah cool, I get that, but that's so irrelevant to the Chihiro and her goal that it just didn't matter to me. He ended up being being used to show that Chihiro has positive impact on the world around her by not being greedy and all that, but like, why. I never once ever considered Chihiro to be greedy especially when she was shown to be hesitant and careful in the beginning of the film. So why create an entire side plot dedicated to this notion as if there was any doubt to it.
Ultimately, this movie just didn't land as a movie that'll stick to me at all. It's a gorgeous world with gorgeous art, but with how little goes on it, I can't see myself recommend it to anyone or even revisit it myself. Not to descredit the effort that went into this movie, but there are other movies with unique and beautiful animation and/or great settings with great character designs. I just don't see Spirited Away being a movie that compares as much to other movies that have those things AND a better plot. However, Spirited Away is at least clean and cohesive. Although empty, it's easy to follow even with all it's fun magic rules and so I won't say the writing is bad, but rather it just leaves a lot to be desired. Which is why I said it'd be much more engaging as an episodic animated series. So overall, I'd give this movie a 7/10. For excelling in a lot of areas, but needing improvement in a lot of other others. I might have been a bit disappointed with this movie, but with what it did really well, I'm still very excited to see what the next Ghibli movies I'm going to watch will have in store for me!

Hello!
This is a blog by a woman who loves learning about animal behavior and wants to see a world in which animals autonomy is more respected.
Unlike many people who make blogs like this, I do not work in a professional capacity with animals. I am simply passionate about them and want to share my passion with others.
I was driven to make this blog due to the many videos on YouTube that compile “funny” animal video clips. Sometimes the clips are funny, but sometimes they really aren’t. It’s important for everyone to understand when things aren’t funny and what they can do about it.
What this blog intends to do:
Make people aware of their relationship with animals. Animals, like people, deserve respect. That means understanding the behaviors and needs of the animals in our care, as well as the behaviors and needs of wild animals that we may frequently encounter, depending on where we live, so that we can co-exist safely.
Make people aware that animals are not people. Animals think and behave very differently from humans. To anthropomorphize is to do an animal a great disservice.
Make people aware that what appears cute and innocent online may not be so cute after all. Animals can be funny and make us laugh, but sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in entertainment and forget that what we’re laughing at is a real living creature. When animals are being forced to do things against their will by humans, it isn’t very funny at all.
What this blog does not intend to do:
Spread misinformation. Please let me know if anything I say or post is harmful or incorrect. I want to learn more, too!
Target individuals and shame them for their actions. Most people do not intend to harm animals and are simply misinformed. Unless someone is blatantly being abusive, I hope to use language that educates rather than accuses the people in the videos. If you recognize someone in a video, please do not go out of your way to find them online and harass them.
Frighten and upset people. If seeing animals in distress causes you great pain, this may not be the blog for you. Videos featured here will mainly be from YouTube compilations advertising “cute/funny” animal clips. Most of these clips will not include situations of physical/emotional abuse. When situations of abuse are included, I will be sure to mark them with the tag “animal abuse.”
Most of all, I want this to be educational and thoughtful. Please read more to learn about tags I intend to use and other information!
More tags will be added to this list as needed. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is something more specific you need tagged!
Type of animal/relationship: #animal and animal  #captive animal  #children  #domestic animal  #farm animal  #human and animal  #pet  #wild animal (more specific tags, such as #dog, #cat, #horse, #bear, etc. will also be used, but listing them all here would be exhaustive; if there are things you would like tagged a certain way [i.e. a specific breed of dog, a particular type of interaction], please let me know)
Warning tags: #animal abuse  #animal aggravation  #animal attack  #animal death  #animal distress  #animal violence  #blood  #unsafe interaction
The tag “animal death” will only be used when an insect or rodent that has died prior to filming is being used as food for another animal. Videos posted here will not include people or animals killing other animals, even if it is a wild animal hunting another wild animal in its natural habitat.
The tags “animal violence” or “animal attack” will only be used when an animal is behaving violently towards a person or another animal. A human physically attacking an animal and making contact with the animal using their body or a weapon will not be featured on this blog. If an animal is shown behaving violently towards another animal/person, the attack will not escalate to the point that one animal/the person is visibly injured. (i.e.: a chicken leaping into the air and flapping its wings in a dog’s face; a sheep headbutting a child and causing the child to fall over)
The tag “blood” will only be used in cases with very small amounts of human blood (i.e.: a light scratch that does not require any medical attention; a few droplets of blood on an article of clothing). Videos with gore or significant amounts of blood will never be included here.

Shit I played:
Observer
Graveyard Keeper
Complicated Board Game the Card Game
Isles of Arthanos
Pathologic
Tooth and Tail
Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind
Archeage
Elsinore
Three Cheers for Master!
It was pretty boss, now I’m sick. Read below for the full account of all my antics...
Friday: My friend and I took our time cause we wanted to get food for the house we were renting. I actually may look into doing that again. We got in about 1:30 and was just wandering around and checking stuff out. Missed out on some panels, but got to play some games like Observer, and Graveyard Keeper. Both are pretty awesome games. Observer is a First Person Psychological Thriller/Horror game that had some interesting mechanics to interact with the world. Graveyard Keeper is a game that is preeeeetty much Stardew Valley, but you’re a graveyard keeper. And I didn’t get terribly far, but it was pretty fun. We went to the 404ing panel last, which was a lot of fun. Saturday: This was the day I went all by myself and chilled by myself. I went early for their “How to be a good youtuber” panel, ‘cause I figured why not, I want to get into that stuff. It ended up being a shitty ad for youtube and HOW YOU CAN DO ALL THIS NEAT STUFF THAT YOU SURELY HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO DO ON TWITCH FOR A WHILE NOW. I understand though that because YT has such a niche in the internet, it might be beneficial for streaming there. And you can have all the videos and streams in one place. I left 15 minutes in, and the friend I met up with and I jumped back into the line for the next panel which was the FFXIV panel. That was a lot of fun. I ended up getting a neat summoner pin and I got to see Yoshi-P live. He was very much a rock star, and eating up the excitement. That was a fun panel, with a lot of the same answers. Afterwards I went exploring, met up with another friend, played “Complicated Board Game the Card Game” which I’d met the developers who are really cool folks when I used to work at my old job. I really enjoyed it. I think I technically won? But ahhh. It was fun. After the party was split and I went to play “Isles of Arthanos” which was a FUCKING DOPE-ASS GAME! Very much in alpha, but it was like 3d rpgmaker, but D&D like. You can design a whole campaign and share it with up to 5 friends which you can play together online. They guesstimated 1.5 years until it’s released but they’re looking to get it on steam, so that it’d be easier for people to workshop it and add their own assets to the game. I am excited for that. I played “Pathologic” which is a survival/horror/psychological game which the narrative follows this doctor, and the demo was very trippy but awesome. After, I bought dice, then signed up for the Bethesda “Prey” raffle thing, with the customized PS4/XBONE, and got an art book. I’m kinda curious as to how that game will be because to me it looked like a 3d puzzle game, like portal, but with a more eldritch twist to it. I probably wont get it at launch but I’d love to see other lets plays of that. After getting my art book, I went to the Playstation Booth where I played “Tooth and Tail” which was a neat RTS game, very simple and easy to get into, and very redwall-ish with the anthropomorphic animals. I probably would play it again, and I’m hoping they will get a one player campaign/story mode, but we’ll see. After this I was getting tired, and I managed to meet up with my friends, have food, and that’s where I called it a night. Sunday:
This was an unexpected day. We’d initially only got the Friday, Saturday Passes, but our friends managed to snag us some passes from a scalper for cheap. This was swag day. Our group of friends arrived, and went to the Bethesda area again, we split up and some of us went to quake, but some of us went to the ESO Morrowind game. It was a long wait, but I entered for the same contest as yesterday for the PS4/XBONE thing, got a t-shirt, and then went to battle. I got to experience the game, and that actually convinced me to get a hold of it probably when the Steam Spring Sales start happening. The next couple hours were us going around acquiring free shirts, and other shit. I even got underwear, which is a little to small for anyone in this house. (only one solution, really.) But yeah, we got free shit. Then I separated from the group with the end goal being 5pm meet up to get coats and stuff. I went to Trion and played around with Archeage again for a bit. I’d played when they first launched it in the west, and it’s been kinda ehhh. But the Community Manager was awesome and she kinda was like “There are some new servers with all these unprotected farms” and gave me a code to redeem a mount. Maybe I can make a war-forged (demon) toon and be overall chaotic. >:) Afterwards, it was rather a blur. I got to look at Earthlock: Festival of Magic which was pretty neat. It was very JRPG-y. Even the dev mentioned how they had gotten inspiration from FF7 and it showed. Very crisp looking. They’ve been developing it for 5 years and it looks hella cool. I’ll probably check it out some day. I then got to play part of the demo of Elsinore, a point and click adventure where you play Ophelia. One of the devs, she explained to me that it was “Groundhog Day meets Majora’s Mask meets Hamlet” and it looks like a neat game to play. I ran around a little more and got buttons for the mobile game Force of Guardians which I wanted to see the cute-ass pixel art. There was War Dragons which was a mobile AR game that replaced airplanes with DRAGONS and it looked so fucking cute and silly and had a whole tamagochi feel from it. I went through the tabletop which was dangerous. I found the people who made Gloom, and they were demoing Three Cheers for Master which the goal was to get the most points, and you wanted to build a tower of minions but they can kill each other and it was funny and cute, with hilarious flavor text. The same group also was making Unseen Arms which is a horror d10 game. The guys at the table themselves didn’t know tooooo much about it, but unlike Call of Cthulhu, this system’s sanity score meant that high sanity was bad as well as low sanity. After that, I wandered back, played some 3ds. My friends decided to go back for some last pickings from the expo hall, which meant I got two more shirts and a drawstring bags. I decided to wait ‘cause I realized I picked up the Pax Pox. So now I’m home, procrastinating on getting my groceries before the storm. And I had a lot of fun. Everyone was so nice and I hope that I’m able to go back next year, and hopefully drag my husband with me. My sentiments about Boston are the same. Not my kind of city. ;P

In 1902, the world was introduced to an adorable yet mischievous rabbit named Peter. British author Beatrix Potter wrote six books over ten years showcasing the anthropomorphic bunny, his family, and friends. Over the next one hundred years the Peter Rabbit books and merchandising have earned over $150 million worldwide and this year Columbia pictures gave the classic tale a modern spin in the live-action feature Peter Rabbit. Three months later, the movie was released on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD and is available to buy now.
Joe McGregor (Sam Neill; Jurassic Park) lives a quiet life in the English countryside. A mean old man, McGregor likes the solitude and his garden. He hates the vermin that is Peter Rabbit (James Corden; Into the Woods), his sisters, his cousin and all their woodland friends. Peter is the bane of McGregor's existence constantly stealing food from his garden and always being saved by the sweet neighbor, Bea (Rose Byrne; Neighbors). When McGregor finally caught Peter in his garden one day, he is ready to make rabbit pie but dies of a heart attack instead. Suddenly, it seems Peter's luck has changed and he and his friends gorge themselves on vegetables from McGregor's garden.
Thomas McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson; Star Wars; The Last Jedi) is an anal retentive, Assistant Manager in the toy department at Harrod's. When he gets passed over for a promotion he loses his cool and finds himself fired. He then learns he is the heir to his late great uncle's estate - the same one that Peter and his friends have been enjoying. Thomas decides to fix up the house so he can sell it and make enough money to open his own toy store. Of course, he and Peter clash immediately but he pretends to like the wildlife to impress Bea. Everything falls apart when Bea learns Thomas tried to kill the rabbits and accidentally falls a tree on her house.
Corden is the perfect actor to voice Peter. With his humor and sarcasm, his inflection gives the cute rabbit a unique personality all his own. Domhnall does a great job as the uptight Londoner who needs a lifestyle adjustment and suddenly falls in love with Bea. Byrnes is the right choice to portray the animal-loving artist. The supporting cast including Margo Robbie (I, Tonya), Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars; The Last Jedi) and Colin Moody (Party Tricks) are terrific and add to the overall feel of the film.
The 4K Blu-ray is 2160p HDR10 video quality is fantastic. The detail on the wildlife's fur is excellent and the colors of the countryside, Bea's paintings, and the vegetable garden are all vibrant. The Dolby Atmos audio is clean and crisp and highlights the fun soundtrack. The Combo pack includes the 4K, the Blu-ray disc, and the Digital HD. The Blu-ray has 3 extras including a mini-movie, Shake Your Cotton-Tail Dance Along, and Mischief in the Making; the first being mildly entertaining and the latter two being just general fluff.
Peter Rabbit has some funny moments and will delight the younger audience it is intended for. As mentioned earlier it also has some great songs, which is why a sing-along extra is not unsurprising. A few of the jokes and gags fall flat and the movie wasn't without controversy when it was released in theaters, as some viewers found the handling of food allergies insensitive. However, overall it is a cute film that will delight kids and offer a few laughs to adults.
If you have a little one in your house, owning this movie is recommended.
