batman: oracle, you will be in charge of all our intelligence, you will be in charge of the super important job of getting tactical intelligence to all our operatves. i trust you can handle this on your own.

batman: robin, you will be with me on the super special, super important job of freeing poison ivy and getting fresh fruit to all the people stuck in here. then, i will have you go liberate an old food supply to also help feed the people, i trust you can do it by yourself.

batman: nightwing, you will go by yourself and get blackgate completely under our control, so we have somewhere to put the rogues who have split up the city and restore order, ensuring people's safety. this is very important, and you'll be able to do this on your own. i trust in your ability to succeed with this.

batman: azrael, i need you to go stop the devil rock star who has no real long-lasting effect on this event. actually, um, take batgirl with you, just in case.

Stephcass:

My absolute fucking beloved. They make me feel insane in 100000 different ways. i think that the two of them just compliment one another and bring so much out in each other? you know? they are both determined and have had hard lives (in very different ways, and they even jokingly hold their own little trauma olympics dsgfhgfhg) but can learn from each other and connect in a way they just... don't really get shown to do with too many other people. and frankly, the tragic element of it is a big part of the appeal to me and something that i never got to quite see resolved in a way i'd have liked it to have been in canon. Steph's 'death' was a devastating blow to Cass, as evidenced by several moments in Batgirl (2000) [the funeral in #58, and the 'Cass on the brink of death hallucinating Steph' incidents in #61-62 & #72-73], and they deserved a better and more meaningful reuniting after Steph came back (but alas, DC editorial is a bitch and had it out for Cass for several years there). I don't think that their modern continuity selves have ever felt the same as their old dynamic, but like... idk I just think that the two of them officially crossing that threshold together from friendship to romance could be such an amazing and meaningful thing if done well and i would Like To See It.

Timsteph:

i love timsteph but i love timsteph in the past tense. i love it as this messy thing that happened in their lives that they can look back at fondly while also acknowledging 'god we were stupid teens'. there were so many factors that went into this relationship that made it complicated that were not actually tim or steph's fault, really, (mostly the batman-related things—tim being unable to tell her his identity, the general pressures of being sidekicks to/working with bruce, etc) and then there's also plenty of fuck ups along the way that Absolutely Were Their Own Faults. it's just interesting! it's young love that was never going to last forever but it still mattered to the two of them and influenced them as they went through so many difficult things (NML, Steph's pregnancy, the general chaos of the DC universe, etc). i will look at timsteph fondly forever. i do not want them to be together again romantically in the future. but i love them. ya know?

Helena’s relationships to batfam members in canon unless specified other wise

Bruce: at first they don’t get along because Helena is like Kate and Barbara where she starts being a vigilante without his permission and not only is she a vigilante not approved by him but she’s also a lot more “dangerous” because she’s willing to kill people which is dumb but whatever. Then Helena is batgirl in NML bc bruce disappears and (fun fact that i didn’t know) designed the batgirl costume that Cass eventually wears with the all black, face completely covered mask. They work together for a while but Helena but doesn’t really listen to Bruce as Batgirl so he gives her costume to Cass and she quits. When Helena joins the BOP their relationship gets better (especially after she saves his life in hush) and he acknowledges her and the work she’s done and their relationship improves. He even says she’s like him when he first started out and that she’s better than she knows he begins to respect her. In new52 and rebirth they have no relationship he meets her once she’s already with the birds of prey. 

Dick: Helena and Dick’s relationship pre 52 is weird, they have a one night stand and they’re friends but also kind of not because Dick is almost like afraid of what Bruce will think if he knows he’s friends with the thorn in Batman’s side. He’s nicer to her than Bruce and he likes her but he doesn’t really defend her to batman. In New 52 and Rebirth they dated while they were at Spyral together and then were friends afterwards. In Rebirth Dick has nothing but respect for Helena and says she’s the reason he loved being a spy and they’re pretty good friends despite their differences on the no killing rule. 

Babs: No matter the canon whether Rebirth or Pre 52 Babs doesn’t seem to like Helena much at first. However in Pre 52 its like to the extreme Babs doesn’t approve of Helena at all and constantly is like Helena needs to go right now. She especially doesn’t like when Helena becomes batgirl. Some of their problems are because Hel slept with Dick and Barbara is jealous but that’s probably just bad writing™. Babs is also really controlling of Helena when their in the BOP and Helena finds out Barbara’s been psychologically controlling her to tame her behavior so she quits and doesn’t rejoin until much later. Barbara apologizes iirc but Helena is still upset. They become closer after Dinah quits because Hel at the time is the most senior member so Babs has to rely on her and Helena becomes her senior operative and most trusted person in the field. In Rebirth Babs at first doesn’t trust Helena because she thinks she’s too violent but they quickly get past their differences and become friends and the BOP become a family. 

Jason: In canon Helena and Jason have never interacted. They were in the same comic briefly in battle for the cowl where they’re on opposite teams but Dick fights Jason while Helena rescues Damian. In my canon Jason and Helena have probably worked together a few times to deal with gangs and the mafia and they’re decent friends and allies when need be. Hel respects that he doesn’t try to shame her or stop her from doing what she has to and that he’s willing to do it too. Their friendship gives Bruce grey hairs because when they work together at least 1 person ends up dead. Also one time they told Bruce they’re were gonna go on a killing spree but really they just turned off their locators and comms and got milkshakes, Bruce almost had a heart attack looking for them. 

Tim: Pre52 Tim is the first person to accept Helena whole heartedly. He defends her to Bruce and Babs when they try to argue that Helena is crazy or dangerous. Helena think of Tim as a good friend because he’s the first person in the family to truly accept her. They basically have a little brother, big sister relationship and Tim respects her a lot. He even clears her name when she’s set up for murder even though no one believes her when she says she didn’t do it. They haven’t interacted in Rebirth yet.

Steph: Pre 52 Helena and Steph have a lot in common, they’re both vigilantes Bruce don’t approve of. Vigilantes who then take on a role of someone in the main batfamily (robin and batgirl). Steph respect Helena and thinks the fact she doesn’t hold back is cool because it gets the job done. The two make a great team. I think Helena could’ve made a good mentor for Steph since Bruce and Tim weren’t helping much. In my canon Helena helps Steph and shows her the ropes when Steph first becomes Spoiler and Steph could call her whenever she needed help. They haven’t interacted in Rebirth yet.

Cass: Pre 52 Cass and Helena didn’t get along very well because Cass replaced Helena (Bruce had Cass waiting to be batgirl to take over once Helena quit). So their relationship is written weird. In my canon I think Helena would’ve helped Cass in her social and out of costume aspects. Helena was a teacher who specialized in ““troubled’’” children and so I think she’d help Cass adjust to living a normal life outside of the cowl. 

Damian: Helena and Damian have never met really in canon. But in my canon Dick probably brought Damian to Helena to help him adjust to a normal life. Helena is one of dick’s good friends and Helena loves kids and is good at working with them. So Dick and Helena together would’ve helped Damian be a kid and not just an assassin. 

Duke: Hel and Duke have not met in canon but I feel like they would get along very well. They’re both black and they both became heroes to deal with childhood traumas. They probably hang out and talk about Bruce being such a white dad and Helena would encourage Duke in school and buy him like limited edition stuff for DnD and the other nerdy stuff he’s into. I’d like to think they’d have a sibling relationship.
