Me: Hey, Brain? Can I have some energy to read fanfiction? There are a lot of fics I want to read
Brain: Absolutely not.
Me: But why not? Am I not meeting a need? Do I need sleep or water or to take care of something?
Brain: You'll steal their ideas.
Me: ???? What?
Brain: Their ideas will worm into you and will pop up in your writing and people will accuse you of theft and copying and hate you. Don't read anything.
Me: That's NOT HOW THAT WORKS

Aik Membrane Vs. Cypher Membrane Vs. Borris Campbell
(A fiction for the L Timeline featuring the @aik-membrane of that timeline as well as Professor Membrane his father, and Borris Cambell, an anrgy lawyer. Also mentions of L1b from @ambassador-d1b)
Welp, that wasn't good. Borris Campbell somehow found out about part of Eep's DNA belonging to him. And with Project Eternal being disbanded, leaving Campbell with no remaining claims, the lawyer was furious.
Ever since Christmas, Membrane had been forwarding away calls and messages from so many people, not just Campbell. He'd have to face it soon, especially since legally, Campbell did have a claim over Eep. Membrane would fight that, but Campbell didn't want to be paid off. Membrane didn't want to have to hire an assassin again for several reasons, so when Campbell asked Membrane to discuss things in person over a formal coffee, Membrane agreed immediately.
Currently, Membrane was waiting for Campbell to arrive. They had chosen a coffee shop located on the first floor of a mall. But after about thirty minutes past the meeting time with no sign of Campbell, Membrane was upset.
Just as Membrane was about to give up and head home, a waiter slipped him a note. "Meet me on the roof," it read.
Horribly suspicious, but Membrane was desperate to resolve this clone conflict. So against his better judgement, he found a fire escape leading up onto the roof of the two story mall. It was deadly silent up there, very dim lighting from the parking lot below. It smelled like rain, and with the quiet chill sweeping through, it definitely felt like a storm was coming.
At first, there seemed to be no sign of Cambell, nor anyone. Membrane muttered in annoyance and was about to turn around and go back when he heard a voice.
"The infamous Professor." That voice was definitely Cambell. Standing across the roof stood one man, a lawyer. He wore a clean white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and his hands were tucked behind his back. "You really thought you could shut down that Project when I still have a claim."
"I paid you off for Bel, plus Bel died," Membrane huffed.
"Eep. I know you used my DNA for Eep," Cambell hissed.
Yep, that's what Membrane was afraid of. No use denying it. "What do you want then? More money?"
Cambell shook his head. "No, I want my rightful claim. Don't think I didn't notice everything you did to those other DNA donors. All of them but two mysteriously dying, leaving you the sole owner of the clones and Project Eternal. You had them all killed."
Membrane narrowed his eyes.
"I have all the proof I need to claim my share of Eep, Project Eternal, and the labs. The only thing is… I don't feel like sharing." Cambell took a gun out from behind his back, aiming it at Membrane. "With you gone, I'll own everything. The labs and all three of your precious clones."
"You can have Aik for no cost you know," Membrane scoffed.
"Nope, I'm taking everything. Goodbye, Membrane. This is for those other donors." Cambell was about to shoot when out of nowhere, a dark figure pushed him down into the ground, knocking the gun aside.
Cambell's head hit the pavement of the roof and started to bleed. He yelped from the impact and tried to struggle against the newcomer. But a solid punch to the face with a metal arm knocked him out cold and broke his nose.
The figure stood slowly and faced Membrane. Aik. Stealthy as always and his robotic arm tainted slightly with Campbell's blood. Some rain began to fall in a light drizzle.
Membrane sighed. He figured Aik would be here.
"You're welcome," Aik growled. He glanced at Campbell. "Punk."
"I knew you would be here," Membrane said simply.
Aik looked back at Membrane in time to see the gun Membrane also had, pointed directly at Aik.
Aik narrowed his eyes and stayed still. "You bastard."
"Third time's the charm," Membrane said with a shrug.
"You never change," Aik hissed. "Good luck explaining this to D1b."
"Damn it…" Membrane growled, his finger tensing a little on the trigger.
Campbell stirred slightly, then suddenly leapt up and reached for his gun.
Aik stepped on his arm to prevent Campbell from aiming the weapon properly and Campbell yelped, letting off a random shot at nothing.
"Two for one, it'll be good to get you both out of the way." Membrane took aim with his gun and let off a shot aimed at Aik's chest.
Aik managed to dodge, but in doing so, left himself open for Campbell to drag him to the ground. Campbell freed his arm and aimed his gun at Aik and tried to shoot, but Aik gripped the gun with his robotic hand and crushed it.
While they were struggling, Membrane approached slowly, trying to aim at something. The rain began to pick up.
Campbell punched Aik's gut, but Aik barely reacted and smashed Campbell's head into the cement. Campbell groaned, his head was bleeding badly and he could barely move. Aik was now more tainted with blood.
Membrane held the gun directly at Aik's head, less than three feet from him. "Say goodbye, Aik."
Aik whirled around and grabbed the gun before Membrane could react, holding it with his metal arm while he punched Membrane in the face to force him to release the weapon.
Membrane yelped more with shock than with pain. Aik aimed the gun at Membrane's head and grabbed Membrane's arm to twist it back, pinning Membrane on his knees.
Membrane stared with shock at Aik. Aik was clenching his teeth, pure rage burning behind his eyes. He could easily take the shot. He shoved Membrane to the ground, releasing his arm and then a swift move, emptied the remaining bullets in the weapon before crushing it in his robotic hand.
Membrane breathed a small sigh of relief at that. He thought for sure he was dead.
Aik sighed heavily, shaking his head. "I don't know what I expected from you."
Neither of them noticed that Campbell was standing up again.
"You could've killed me," Membrane said, still staring. "Why didn't you?"
Aik shrugged. "Your D1b's father. I can't kill you. Hell, with you working to disband Project Eternal, I don't even know if I have the heart to kill you anymore."
Membrane swallowed.
Campbell had stood up, a knife in his hand.
"But I tried to kill you," Membrane said slowly.
"Eh, you're not the first person. Come on, we should get out of here before someone calls the cops," Aik said.
With an angry screech, Campbell rushed at Aik with the knife. Before either Membrane or Aik could react, Campbell had it stuck Aik's shoulder and tried to yank Aik backwards, causing them both to stumble dangerously close to the edge of the roof. Campbell slipped on a puddle and plummeted over the edge, Aik and knife still in grasp.
Aik didn't have time to grab the edge and stop himself from falling, but he reached his regular hand out to try anyway.t
Though he had already accepted that he was going to fall, even calculating the best landing.
But he didn't. He didn't fall, his hand had caught something. Campbell fell to the ground two stories below and lay still, never to move again. The rain was falling in torrents now.
Aik looked up to see what he had grabbed onto. Membrane had a firm grip of Aik's wrist and hand. He seemed very annoyed with the current position.
Aik grinned mischievously. "Well well, change of heart again?"
"Oh shut up," Membrane growled and used his own robotic arm to pull Aik up to level ground.
Aik chuckled and adjusted his footing once stood up.
"Wait, how come you're not bleeding? You were stabbed," Membrane was baffled.
Aik pulled part of his coat back to show the knife had only gotten the robotic part of his shoulder. His entire arm was out of commission and in need of repair, but he himself was uninjured.
Membrane sighed. "Bastard."
"Seriously though, I can hear sirens, we need to get down like now." Aik headed over to the fire escape.
