Decided to check out the audio drama Fawx & Stallion this weekend and GUYS... guys this show is SO FUNNY. I couldn't stop laughing for the first three episodes straight.
It's the story of some wannabe detectives living in Victorian London. Specifically, they live at 224B Baker Street, just across the street from a certain pair of decidedly more famous detectives--and they're sick and tired of having all their potential cases scooped by Sherlock Fucking Holmes. Luckily for them, while Holmes and Watson are out of town looking into some matter about a dog, a new case comes along and drops--by default--into our would-be heroes' laps.
And just who are these aspiring crime-solvers?
Hampton Fawx: detective and gentleman. What he lacks in common sense he makes up for with raw theater-kid enthusiasm.
James Stallion: gentleman and detective. A loyal friend and companion when he's not being a self-important arse. Runs on approximately 20% gin and 80% spite.
and finally Madge: neither gentleman nor detective. She's just been stood up by her date and she's going to make that everyone else's problem. She'll agree to help on this case just for the Drama.
It's a hysterical romp so far. A lighthearted farce set just offscreen from Holmes' own capers (for now!). Our main trio lacks even a single braincell to share between them, but by GOD they're going to solve this case and I'm going to be cheering them on the whole way there!
From what I can tell, new episodes are typically every other Monday, but the show's on a short hiatus for the holidays, to return in 2023. The first five are currently available to listen to, though, and I highly recommend it!
#Fawx & Stallion#certain details omitted so as not to spoil the little ep1 surprises :3c#this is a fun one to go into without much prior knowledge so if you're sold then please check it out now!!#I don't want to rob anyone of the gleeful little gasps that I let out as certain details came to light#but if you would like a few tiny spoilers to give you some more miscellaneous character info:#Hampton is asexual (I did not know this going in and it took me a bit to pick up on it but it is alluded to already in the show!)#James and Madge are legally married (which is why I left her surname out of the main post) but#they're both gay and happily pursuing other relationships with each other's blessing.#James is in a committed relationship (basically reads as married) to an Inspector from Scotland Yard and they're disgustingly cute together#his partner Archie is extremely long-suffering because Hampton and James' antics end up getting them in trouble more often than not#and Archie has to clean up their messes without seeming like he's showing favoritism.#(that description sounds like it could be tense but it's actually more in the tone of sitcom hijinks. it's lighthearted and hilarious)#and Madge is a complete disaster lesbian who apparently has an on-again-off-again relationship with Martha across the street#yes THAT Martha across the street#and anyway the three of them--Hampton James and Madge--all just share a flat with an ancient cat and#spend their days drinking booze and amateur boxing and bitching about Holmes and Watson#it's great. please give it a listen :)

You are doing prompts for the first time? That's so exciting! We are including the wintery prompts as mini reindeer games over on @riverdale-events if you want to include them! I can't help but send one in. You are so good with AUs of all kinds. How about: 59. this year my family has decided we’re celebrating the holidays on a cruise and you’re the cute bartender who teases me for mourning the lack of snow
Remember this? Well, just to prove that I haven’t given up on them...

Here’s Part 1 of  Mi Irie
The Jamaican saying "irie" is often used to mean "everything is alright and fine." Note that Jamaica has numerous variations when it comes to greeting someone. When someone asks “How are you feeling?” or “How yuh stay?” an appropriate response would be, “Mi irie.” ~ Sandals.com
I.
She looked pretty miserable.
Which wasn’t the most surprising thing on a tropical cruise, if Jughead were to be honest.
Working as a bartender on the Ringmaster Caribbean Cruise ship for the last couple of years, his station was perhaps the only place on the ship where the miserable can turn to for comfort. The bar attracted both party goers and debbie downers alike.
Not that he was there to judge. He, of all people, understood feeling miserable in a room full of happily drunk people, both as a bartender and a person who, as a kid, grew up surrounded by drunk adults in his father’s bar. It was the funhouse image of an Eloisian upbringing--Jughead at the Whyte Wyrm.
That he ended up getting a bartending job was arguably a predictable outcome, or the opposite of--depending on how one looked at it. Sure, it was fucked up that he was a ten year old doing his homework in a bar, but ultimately, bartending became the one thing he knew how to do by heart, and if he was going to get anything out of his trashy childhood, it may as well be money he would be getting on bar tips.
But because he spent a lot of time around inebriated people, he did get the impression that everyone could be an asshole if they were drunk enough. It wasn’t an ideal working environment, but he needed a job that paid well while he wrote his book and went to school, and in some sad way, it was all worth the validation he got out of finding those who understood misery like he did.
So seeing this sad face at his bar wasn’t particularly extraordinary. He’d seen all types. And misery aside, she looked great. The golden cascades of her hair fell in waves over the skin of her sun-kissed shoulders. Her bikini, a nice dusty blue with a knitted pattern design, flattered her figure. Paired with a wrap around her hips and showing off her nice curves, he couldn’t help but think that the only thing weird about her was that she was alone.
Then again, it was early morning and quiet.
A soft breeze blew in over the turquoise waters of the ocean, wafting comfortably into the shaded bar area on the deck. The sunshine bounced brightly over the chlorine blue pool.
The bar was mostly empty. Out in the pool area, just outside the bar’s perimeter, guest were at a minimum. Most families with children were sleeping in or still having breakfast at the mess hall.
The people enjoying the pool at this time were adults, and a concentration of them were at the far end, riveted by the aquatic aerobics instructor and his goofy routines.
Miss Misery was, in fact, watching these antics from where she sat, passive and unsmiling.
“Nobody really goes to that class to exercise,” Jughead said to her as she watched them. “They like to watch Archie doing his thing. I’m surprised they don’t have dollar bills to put in his swim trunks, honestly.”
Archie, the instructor, as if on cue, tore off his Ringmaster Caribbean Cruise t-shirt and turned on the poolside shower to bathe under the stream, all while his “students” hooted and hollered.
Miss Misery’s lips tightened to a line, but she seemed amused instead of inscenced. “Well, he’s increasing their pulse rate, for sure.”
“He loves the attention.”
She nodded and turned her barstool to finally face the bar. “He must.”
When she said nothing else and her gaze began to wander to the TV hanging over the bar, he figured she wouldn’t mind the conversation. This quiet in the morning, he liked to engage guests one on one. “So, what can I get you, miss?”
Surprise piqued in her sea-green eyes. “You serve alcohol this early?”
He laughed and put his hands out in an open gesture. “All inclusive means it’s always five in the afternoon.”
Her eyebrows crinkled with what he could only assume was a sudden onslaught of possibilities. “Alcohol for breakfast?” This was a real marvel of a thing for her.
“It’s been done. For the seasoned drinker, a Bloody Mary is the most cliche of drinks, but it’ll do for a vacationer. The more hardened imbibers ask for a Prairie Oyster--strictly a veteran hangover cure.”
“What’s a Prairie Oyster?”
“Raw egg, Worcestershire sauce, bit of tomato juice, vinegar, hot sauce, black pepper, and a shot of gin. Two if the hangover’s particularly bad.”
Her jaw dropped open briefly before it clamped shut. “Does that actually work?”
Jughead shrugged. “No idea. I don’t go on benders so I’ve never had one.”
She seemed to accept this, her eyes falling on the overhead menu. The drinks written on it in neon colored pens were from last night’s specials, but they were good for any day. He waited for her to say something.
“Um… sangria?”
“Wow. Living it!”
She rolled her eyes, but he did manage to get a chuckle out of her. He began working on her order.  It would take a little longer to put her drink together, because he did need to cut up some fresh fruit, but he didn’t mind. If it meant she would stay a little longer, it was worth the extra effort.
“I’m Betty, by the way,” she said as he worked. “I didn’t see you at the bar last night, um--Jughead?” She was reading off his name tag, but she went on without saying how strange she probably thought his name was. “Last night it was Toni, who routinely got hit on by men of all ages.”
He laughed softly. “Yeah, she’s a crowd favorite. Got that whole Coyote Ugly vibe going. She’s not a fan of men, though. She prefers girls.”
“Oh.” She said it like it explained things.
“So,” he said, chopping up some oranges into thin quarters. “If you’re not here because you’re hungover, and you weren’t here to drink in the first place, did you come to the deck for aerobics then change your mind when you realized it was more of a strip tease? Or maybe you’re smart and figured you can enjoy the show from here, comfortably perched on our soft barstools.”
She cocked a smile, finally. “I just wanted to get away from the chaos of the mess hall and my family. I figured they weren’t going to look for me here. I’m not a big drinker.”
“Well, now look at you. Knocking back booze for breakfast.”
She snorted. “Hardly.”
He finished chopping up the apples and he threw all his chopped fruits in a pitcher, halfway full of ice, and mixed the sangria in it. After he gave the mixture a stir, he poured some of it in a glass, threw in a hefty dose of tequila, and slid the drink in front of her. “You look like you need some tequila. That’s my special mix. And drinks are on me.” He winked.
She arched an eyebrow. “It’s an all inclusive cruise. Of course they’re on you.”
“They don’t mix it the way I do.”
She took a sip and she gasped. “Wow!” she rasped. “Potent.”
“Just for you.”
She began to laugh and threw him a sidelong glance. “I bet you say that to all the girls.”
He tilted his grin but said nothing.
The truth was, since he started this job, he hadn’t said that to anyone but her.
***********************
She was back the next morning and this time, she ordered a tequila sunrise. She had on a different suit, starkly white against her tanning skin, and he may have been imagining things, but the top gave her breasts a spectacular cleavage that wasn’t as noticeable the day before. He had to remind himself to keep his eyes up, especially since hers seemed more interested in engaging him.
“Feeling better?” he asked, mixing her drink.
She shrugged, but her smile came easier. “Same shit, different day, but now I know you serve alcohol in the morning and you don’t water drinks down.”
He chuckled but pressed his finger lightly over his lips. “That last part’s a secret between you and me.”
Her tanned cheeks bloomed pink and Jughead eyed her for a moment, delighting on the effect he had on her. He slid the drink towards her and she sipped from its straw. She seemed less surprised by the alcohol content but she did blow a breath through her lips. “You must be breaking some All Inclusive Rule here.”
“You bet I am. Does that impress you?”
She quirked her gaze. “It depends on how drunk this makes me.”
He gave it a moment’s thought. “Kind of a low bar. You were drunk after the one glass I gave you yesterday.”
“Hey, I was drinking on an empty stomach.” Her protest sounded weak.
He laughed and pulled a large plate from beneath the bar.  It had piles of bacon, layers of pancakes slathered in maple syrup and butter, and some scrambled eggs on the side. She stared at it as he offered her a clean fork. She slowly took the fork and shot him a suspicious squint. “Is this your breakfast?”
He nodded, grinning. “It’s my second one. It’s a fresh plate and I hadn’t touched it.  I don’t mind sharing if you don’t.”
Her gaze gave him the once over and a ripple of pleasure coursed through him, especially when her lashes fluttered as their eyes met again. “I can use some bacon and pancakes.”
He leaned over the counter and brought out a fork of his own, cutting into the pile of food on his plate. “So, if you don’t mind me asking… are you not enjoying yourself on this cruise? You come here in the morning and you always sound like you’re trying to forget something.”
“Oh, do I? Maybe you’re right. I’m on this cruise with my parents and my sister--not exactly the kind of getaway I was looking for. It’s bad enough that I have to deal with my mother’s sideways disapproval of how I look in my swimsuit, but I found out yesterday that a snowstorm hit New York City and I missed it. Will miss it. The snow will be nothing but filthy piles of ice on the side of the road by the time I get back to it, if I catch any of it at all.”
He couldn’t help but laugh.  “Wait a minute… are you telling me that you were all gloom and doom yesterday because you missed a snowstorm in New York… while being on a cruise ship on the tropical waters of the Caribbean? Really?”
Her cheeks reddened again, but she seemed poised to defend herself. “You laugh, but New York after a snowstorm, when everyone’s still indoors and the streets are quiet--it’s the most beautiful thing.”
“Oh, is it?”
She nodded eagerly. “It is. That thick layer of undisturbed white powder, lights blinking through the snow--all you can see are the parked cars covered in a shimmering white sheet and the buildings along its side look like pretty gingerbread houses--it’s so picturesque. The first people to emerge are usually kids with their parents, eager to slide down snow hills before the roads are salted and the dream is obliterated by modern machinery. If you close your eyes and listen to their laughter, it feels warm. It feels like waking up to a fresh new life. There’s nothing like it.”
He gets it. He grew up in Ohio and he knew what the aftermath of a snowstorm looked like, but he imagined that New York City was prettier than Toledo, and most people would pick a tropical paradise over a snowy cityscape. Not him, personally. He didn’t care where he was.
“You’re just going to have to comfort yourself with free alcohol, white sand, and blue, warm waters.”
She gave a dramatic sigh. “I suppose so.” She followed it with a laugh. “So, when do you get to enjoy the white sand and blue waters?”
He shrugged. “I mostly don’t. In my free time, I hang around the ship and write.”
“Write?”
He nodded. “I’m on break right now but I’m completing my novel for my creative writing graduate program.”
She seemed only mildly surprised. “Which graduate program?”
“Iowa Writer’s Workshop.”
“Well, now, that’s impressive.”
He shoved a piece of bacon into his mouth. “Had I known, I would’ve started off with that.”
She threw him a mildly chastising look, even as she began to slice a piece off the pancake. “I’d like to think I come off as someone who would be impressed by a guy getting his Masters in creative writing as opposed to breaking the rules of a cruise ship branded Ringmaster.”
“You’ll be surprised at how mentioning the Iowa Writer’s Workshop does absolutely nothing for most people around here.”
“Maybe I’m not most people. So tell me, Jughead,” she paused and took a sip of her tequila sunrise. “If I were to, say, ask you to escort me outside the ship at our next island stop, would you be too busy writing your great American novel?”
This wasn’t exactly the first time he’d gotten asked out by a guest, but this was absolutely the first time he felt a thrill for it in the pit of his stomach.
She sipped her drink again and he watched her pretty pink lips mover over the straw.
“It’s against the rules for the crew to fraternize with the guests,” he said, softly, so that only the two of them would hear.
“Well, then,” she breathed. “Now’s the perfect time to impress me with your rule breaking, Jughead.”

Riverdale 3.07 Thoughts *Spoilers*
- Who the fuck would think that Archie and Jughead were brothers? Lmao sweetie no... (side note my niece thinks that Sweet Pea and Jughead look alike and she constantly gets them mixed up and it’s annoying because they’re so different and my baby Sweet Pea could never)
- Saw the voicemail yesterday and sit still bland as fuck. Like, Riverdale still hasn’t convinced me that Jughead and Betty TRULY love each other and then you have a boyfriend calling his girlfriend (who somehow doesn’t realize that his cling ass, co-dependent ass girlfriend isn’t answering his calls, which he knows she would never do to him, and that she’s in trouble. But whatever I’m just glad they’re not currently together because that means this episode has a CHANCE to be good... even though my faves aren’t in it) JUGHEAD WHERE’S THE LOVE AND THE FEELINGS AND THE EMOTION IN YOUR VOICE? LIKE, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU’RE DOING THIS OUT OF OBLIGATION.
- Archie wanting to send Jughead back just so Betty actually has someone on her side. We love Betty’s future husband and best friend, who cares about her so fucking much!
- “Betty took down a serial killer”? Last I remember she was helping her father clean up his mess but alright. Sure, they got him arrested but that was mostly because he threatened her and Alice (still not entirely sure why though)
- “You can’t go five minutes without getting the crap kicked out of you,” uh yeah the same can go for you, too, Jughead. Penny literally almost killed you. Honestly, I kind of wish they went through with it because I would love to see how different things would be. They could have made the next episode like a dream to Archie or Betty (preferably Archie) not only to trick us fans into thinking it’s real, that he’s really dead, but also it would be interesting to see what would happen.
- So you just come across this convenient random ass farm... and you decide to stay there? I find that so weird but alright Archie you do you
- LAURIE LAKE IS SO FUCKING ATTRACTIVE. FUCK.
- Wow a time where I actually agree with Jughead? WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME RAS STOP
- Jughead’s concerned for Archie... but leaves anyways for... pictures? Nvm Jughead’s still a crackhead lmao Like obvious he finds the symbols but STILL. YOU LEFT YOUR SUSCEPTIBLE BEST FRIEND WITH THOSE ODD WOMEN
- Honestly, farm life would really fit Archie but THIS KISS AIN’T IT BITCH. For a second I thought they were going to have her try and pull another Joaquin. OH GOOD HE MENTIONS VERONICA. But you’re not supposed to tell her your shit, Arch... ARCHIE YOU’RE TALKING TO HER LIKE SHE’S AN OLD FRIEND AND YOU’RE CATCHING UP. STOP.
- Now that I think about it thought, Jughead being off on his own like he used to and is supposed to, it’s really fucking great. I also miss photographer!Jughead (and Toni but she’s lost all personality since getting with Cheryl and i’m PISSED about that)
- Poor Archie, he can’t catch a break, can he? Thanks for bashing him on the side of the head, crackhead
- ARCHIE NO YOU RAN AWAY FROM RIVERDALE FROM HIM SPECIFICALLY. THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Although, it’s surprising that Jughead suddenly has good ideas because when it comes to the Serpents he would just rather possibly get someone killed/or do something so horrendously stupid that if he died he would definitely deserve it (skinning Penny’s tattoo off)
- So all of a sudden you realize that you can’t hide from Hiram? Really bitch?
- JUGHEAD MENTIONING VERONICA MY JERONICA HEART BITCH
- Oh is Veronica FINALLY leaving like she has in literally all of my stories? I would have figured she would have left right after Archie was placed in jail and went to live with Fred (or took refuge in Pop’s) to keep him company and also give her a place to stay because we all know he would. But i’ll take this, too. Fucking finally
- How can you not like Veronica Lodge, the queen of being the most caring (other than Archie) and supportive woman in Riverdale?
- BITCH MY FANFIC IS COMING TO LIFE. Although I would have thought she’d sleep in her office because I figured she’d get one but this still works!!! Now Jughead just has to come in and find her, then take her in. Obviously that won’t happen but it does in my stories so whatever
- WE LOVE A DEDICATED WOMAN.
- REGGIE!! I love how he’s being her shoulder to lean on I am HERE for Veggie! And it’s cool and all that a Bulldog and Serpent are playing G&G together (even though they’re playing G&G) but who the fuck is this Serpent? I wanna know!!! I love me some Serpents. I still want to know who was in the background in the scene when Jughead and the Serpents go to rescue Betty from Chic’s criminal people who wanted money. But I know we’ll never get that luxury (or even a name drop) despite the Serpents being the best thing on this show besides Choni and Swangs
- So... it’s Reggie who suggests going a bit criminal? At least it wasn’t Veronica because she turned down the casino offer but since it’s Reggie it at least makes sense for him to do so. BUT ALSO VEGGIE YES BITCH WE’RE HERE FOR IT. Oh thank god it’s only for a night...
- If anything happens to Pop’s imma fight. Also how convenient that after Veronica and Elio talk about their illegal activities in front of the portrait she has of herself thanks to Hiram, he shows up. I’m sure it’s about Hermione being worried for her but still.. s u s p i c i o u s.
- Hiram does have a point about her always talking about wanting a legitimate business but now doing the gambling thing, but when people are desperate, they do desperate things so she’s let off of the hook (also because this storyline is a million times more interesting than anything involving Betty or Bughead)
- HA. HIRAM BEING AN ALLY. That’s funny. That’s like Betty being a good person and a good detective it’s not gonna happen
- But you’re telling me that NO ONE else could show up? Not Kevin, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Cheryl, Toni... not even in Veronica’s? I mean, not even shown fucking around with cards in the background? Or maybe Sweet Pea and Fangs standing guard? Honestly fuck you Roberto, the only reason this storyline is good is because it has Veronica and Reggie, and doesn’t involve Betty or Bughead in ANY way. That guy who gave Veronica her favorite drink? THAT COULD HAVE BEEN TONI. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FUN MOMENT BUT YOU TOOK THAT AWAY FROM US. It’s like RAS knows what would actually be good for us and the show... and then just completely ignores it, then wonders why we’re all annoyed and angry with him.
- REGGIE “Want me to rough him up? Throw him out” I’D LOVE THAT SWEETIE BUT ALSO HE’S THE ONE WHO MADE ALL OF THIS HAPPEN (with V of course) YOU CAN’T KICK HIM OUT OR THERE’LL BE EXTREME CONSEQUENCES
- WE LOVE THE TRUE QUEEN OF RIVERDALE
- I’m still angry that no one else is in this. Like... seriously. I’m very pissed about it and you can tell because i’m bringing it up AGAIN. So much lost potential.
- WE LOVE A GAMBLING QUEEN, VERONICA LODGE, AND HER PROTECTIVE BOYFRIEND/BODYGUARD/BARTENDER REGGIE MANTLE. HE FUCKING CALLED HER V OH MY GOD I’M- THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HER. STOP. THEY’RE SO IN LOVE and it helps because they’re dating in real life. DON’T COME AT ME FOR NOT THINKING THE SAME WITH THE OTHER COUPLE WHO I’M NOT NAMING LMAO
- LOOK AT REGGIE SO FUCKING ENAMORED WITH HER. UGH FUCK ME UP. BOTH VEGGIE AND CHARMILA
- Pop! :((( He’s so pure and innocent. I’m surprised RAS hasn’t tried to fuck that up, honestly. But he does have a point, Veronica should and CAN NOT veer towards the criminal direction of her father or else all of her character development will go down the drain for nothing. And I don’t want that because she’s one of the greatest characters on this show!
- VERONICA DID YOU REALLY JUST SAY YOUR FATHER WASN’T ALL THAT BAD? He gave you inside intel about Elio and suddenly him destroying Archie’s, and your life, just... goes away? He literally is ruining Riverdale. THIS IS SO OUT OF CHARACTER STOP IT RAS QUEEN RONNIE WOULD NEVER. Season one V, maybe, but not season 3. Definitely NOT season 3 Veronica
- Oh Goody... now onto Betty. This should be boring and full of shit
- Elementary? IT’S SO WEIRD HEARING THAT BECAUSE I SAY IT LIKE ELEMENTRY but also this voiceover stuff is funny I gotta admit. But this is how Betty normally acts... except she says her stupid shit to people’s faces instead. She acts all fake and nice and sweet but we know she’s anything but. Thanks for highlighting that in this, RAS.
- LMAO BETTY SAYING “THANK YOU SO MUCH” WAS SO WEIRD BECAUSE THAT’S SO NOT BETTY.
- ETHEL WE BEEN KNEW JUGHEAD ISN’T INTO BETTY. “THIS PSYCHO BITCH” is basically Lili when someone points out that Bughead is toxic
- JUGHEAD ACTUALLY TOLD BETTY? It’s so weird... like I know it’s always Betty who lies and shit but imagine that conversation “hey betty ethel and I kissed for the game and it actually wasn’t that bad...”
- Ethel, Betty acts like she’s better than everyone because she knows shes’ not.
- For an investigator, Betty.. you’re really slow. Also “bite me” is ALICE’S THING NOT YOURS SO STOP YOU’RE NOT EVER GOING TO BE HER.
- For Betty i’m surprised she didn’t go into the room after the girl screamed because Betty, like Jughead, is stupidly impulsive.
- “Real friends don’t kiss each other’s boyfriends” she really calling herself out isn’t she. BETTY... THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID. TO VERONICA. But I mean you guys shouldn’t be friends in the first place, you don’t deserve Veronica. She never should have gone ooc and apologized to you for NOTHING
- WOW THE WRITERS ARE LITERALLY FUCKING SHADING US WITH ETHELHEAD. I mean obviously it was a joke in the first place but hey at least we get to see Betty’s real bitch side. You know, the normal, annoying ass Betty that somehow everyone seems to think is so cool and feminist when she’s the opposite of that?
- SO RAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY FOR ETHEL TO FUCKING PUNCH BETTY AND HE DIDN’T TAKE IT? I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE BETTY ACTUALLY FACE CONSEQUENCES. Besides we know that Ethel is compulsive and stupid as well (milkshake for Veronica)
- So... you’re not going to check the rest of your file just in case? And does she really think they wouldn’t have checked the place after Cheryl escaped? Betty’s fucked. RAS would never let an opportunity to make Betty miserable so she can be rescued go.
- “I was lost again.” Betty... this is why you’re not the Serpent queen. THEY’RE NOT GOING TO FALL FOR THAT SHIT AGAIN BETTY JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
- I know I should feel bad for Betty... but honestly... I kinda don’t. I mean, I know she needed proof but why didn’t she get herself in trouble to see the GK? Now we’re going to be forced to watch more Bettydale and I don’t care for it! Give me the Serpent, Veronica, Archie... something that actually is more interesting. No one likes Betty constantly having to be saved because she COULD save herself but she makes stupid ass decisions.
- Also I’m so mad about the mistreatment of Ethel. Like, she was innocent and kinda nice I guess in season 1 and now she’s this fucking apprentice to the GK
- Ugh watch the GK somehow be Hal so that this has even MORE to do with Betty. Now she’s gonna be saved and then have an even larger ego and god complex and i’m just not fucking here for it.
All in all... the only interesting thing to happen, truly, was Archie and Jughead’s part. Veronica’s showed her normal, bad assery and i’m glad but it also is trying to demonize her and bring her back to “criminal daughter” who Betty will definitely act better than and show that she thinks she’s all that. I just... Betty Cooper and how she’s so high on this goddamn pedestal has ruined the show. The only reason i’m watching is for literally anybody else. Betty and Bughead need to fucking go if RAS wants people to start watching again. I get too invested into characters and I can’t leave but that’s not the case for others.
It’s like he sees everything we write, what we want, what we hate, and then he just... ignores it and figures out a way to make Betty even more insufferable. Honestly, I want to like Betty but right now I wouldn’t mind if she just fucking went crazy, got actual help, and had to stay off of the show for a season or two and force Jughead to realize how shitty they are together. I want the best for this show PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NOBODY WANTS BUGHEAD. It’s all just to piss off other ship’s fans, to give them less shit while you focus on Bughead. PLEASE. STOP.

Family Dinner
A/N Author’s note: I hope you all enjoyed a little fluffy, angsty Varchie. I apologize for the baby’s name honestly all I could think of was a little red headed baby and for some reason all I came up with was Ralph. What would you name Varchie’s baby?
Summary: “One where Veronica and Archie are married and have a family dinner with Fred, Betty, and Jughead. They leave their child in the care of Mrs. Andrews. Tension ensues as Hermione shows up to Veronica’s dismay, Archie tells her to relax. Then Hermione says something rude about the way Veronica cares for her child and then says something to offend Jughead and Veronica gets upset and tells her off then runs off crying.  Archie follows to comfort her.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Veronica wrapped her wiggling baby boy in his favorite blanket, blue with puppies all over it. Ralph hated to be swaddled, he would squirm and squirm until he fell asleep.  Normally Veronica wouldn’t fight him but winters in Riverdale were rough. It was 17⁰ outside and Ralph’s red tinted skin easily chapped. Once she finally got him wrapped up tightly she rubbed Vaseline over his face to prevent chapping and tugged on his blue crocheted hat that Mrs. Andrews made him.
Archie swung into the room to find Veronica still in her house clothes. “Ronnie! We’re gonna be late.”
Ralph kicked his feet excitedly when he heard his father’s voice causing the blanket to escape from Ronnie’s skilled wrapping.
Veronica groaned, throwing her hands in the air. “Archie fix his blanket please so I can get dressed!” She walked out of the room without an answer from him.
Archie meaninglessly shrugged and walked over to his smiling baby boy and began to fix his blanket. “Mommy is a little stressed huh? What did you do to her?” He asked earning a giggle from the chubby boy.
Veronica began first on her makeup so as not to make a mess on her dress. She closed her eyes as the brush swept across her pale face. She opened her eyes to a now darker face. She smiled satisfied as she shaped her eyebrows and put on a layer of her famous dark lipstick.
Once finished she threw on her little black dress smoothing it out before she reentered the bedroom.  There Ralph was asleep and Archie was carefully laying him in his car seat.
“I don’t know how you do it, it’s like all he’s has to do is see daddy and he’s a perfect angel.”
Veronica huffed quietly so she didn’t wake the sleeping baby. Archie let out a small chuckle and walked to her once the baby was securely in his car seat. Wrapping his arms around her, Archie kissed her head. “You look stunning by the way.”
“Better than my old vixens’ uniform?” Veronica taunted with a cock of her eyebrow.
Archie shook his head, “No not quite but close second. Do you still have that somewhere?” His eyes brightened at the thought.
Veronica let out a laugh as her head fell backwards. “No, I had to give it back after graduation.” Archie mumble a ‘shit’ under his breath causing Ronnie to giggle again.
“Okay okay,” Archie shook his head trying to rattle the thoughts out of his brain. “Let’s go drop little man off to Mimi’s house.”
Archie, Ronnie, Betty, Jughead, and Fred all sat around the dining room table of Archie’s childhood home. Tonight, was a family dinner that was long overdue. Of course, they all ended up at Mr. Andrews home from time to time when they needed advice or just a comforting welcome. It may seem like a strange ‘family’ dinner when two of them had no family ties to Fred whatsoever. But this group, even if there was no blood involved, was what a true family looked like. Fred had been a father figure to all of them in one way or another. He was there to clean up their messes, give them words of wisdom, or get pissed off at them for doing something stupid.
Archie had landed the best Dad out of the bunch. Jughead’s dad, although he tried, had never been there for Jughead for any length of time. When FP wasn’t in jail, he was hitting the bottle and passed out on the couch. That landed him on the Andrews’ couch more than a few times. Betty on the other hand lived next door to them her whole life.  While her family had become distraught and torn to pieces, Fred stayed the constant in her life. Veronica never knew how deep Jughead and Betty love for Fred ran until they had graduated high school. Ronnie’s parents were back to their old conniving and thievish ways. While she was dating Archie, she saw Fred as nothing but a parent who set rules. ‘No making out on the couch.’ ‘No sex in my house.’ ‘Veronica has to leave by 10 on a school night.’  Rules was something she never had in her house, if there was rules they were easily broken by an acting out by Veronica. When it came time for Archie and Veronica to marry, her parents refused to come because she didn’t support their ways of business. So unconventional as it was, Fred gave Veronica away to his son Andrew. Veronica never once hesitated to call Fred ‘Dad’ after that.
“How is the construction business these days Mr. Andrews?” Betty asked cheerfully as she popped a mouthful of broccoli into her mouth.
“It’s booming right now. We finally got the plans for the new shopping center up north. This is the
biggest project we’ve had since the drive-in.” Jughead’s body tensed at the thought of his old home.
“Sorry Jughead.” Fred added with a sigh.
Veronica broke the silence with a cheery thought. “I think Ralph is gonna be saying his first world anytime now. He’s making noises more an- “Veronica was cut off by a loud knock on the front door.
Fred furrowed his eyebrows knowing he wasn’t expecting anyone else. He stood quickly as the knock grew louder and more frantic.
“Jesus! Would you hold your horses?” Fred shouted swinging the door open. Before him stood a shapely woman with dark brown hair. Her makeup well done as if she had just finished.
“Hermione?” He asked in almost a whisper. It had been years since he’d seen her. She hadn’t even bothered to show up to her own daughter’s wedding and now she was at his front door.
“Let me in Fred. I don’t have time for your bullshit.” She pushed through him and into the dining room, remembering exactly where everything was. She had spent many days and nights in this house, both as a colleague and a lover. “Veronica!”
Veronica’s eyes widened standing up in defense, ready for whatever attack was going to throw her way. “What are you doing here?”
“You left your child in the care of the psycho Andrews woman?”
“Hey!” Fred exclaimed not wanting his ex-wife attacked.
“Can it Fred! I’m talking to Ronnie.” Hermione snarled holding her hand up signaling him not to step closer to her.
“First off, don’t call me Ronnie. You lost that privilege a long time ago. And Mrs. Andrews cares about that baby more than you ever will. You contact me maybe twice a year. Mrs. Andrews texts to make sure I’m okay and that I’m handling motherhood okay. When I gave birth, she stayed at our house for a week just so I could get some sleep. What did you do mom? You handed me a check and said, ‘buy some diapers.’” Veronica took a deep breath recovering from her long-winded rant. “Now if you’ll excuse us we are having a family dinner.”
Hermione scoffed, “family? Are you serious? The man who sold out your father? Just because he was jealous he couldn’t have me?” She motioned to Fred, to which Fred open his mouth to speak but stopped at Archie’s hand telling him to leave it be. “And the Scooby-doo gang who tries to solve murders like they actually have a clue!?”
“No mom stop! These are the people who have been there when I needed them the most. Archie is my husband and the father of your grandson. If you’re going to come in here and attack my friends then you can leave and I guarantee you, you will never see your grandson or any other children I may have.” Veronica stood firm crossing her arms waiting for Hermione’s response.
Before Hermione could utter a sound, Fred placed his hand on her shoulder guiding her to the door. “It’s time to go Hermione. Don’t come back here again without an invitation.” Fred opened the door, pushing her out a little harder than he intended. He honestly didn’t care after how she attacked his family. He slammed the door in her face.
As soon as Hermione was out of sight, Veronica let out a sob and ran up the steps to Archie’s old bedroom. Fred hadn’t changed it much, he used it as a spare bedroom. Archie’s things were gone and there were no more sports posters on his walls, instead they were only blue.
Veronica laid on the twin bed where it stood against the wall. Her sobs fill the room, her tears soaking into the pillow beneath her.
The door creaked open exposed a worried Archie. “Oh Ronnie. Baby.” He sat next to her on the bed, pulling her up into his arms. He held her tight as she cried, she was a strong woman but when it came to her parents she was fragile.
“Ronnie, I know you’re upset. Your mother doesn’t think about her words when she’s angry, much like you.” He paused to focus on the constant motion of his hand travelling up and down her spine. Her cries got softer as he spoke. “I know that my Ronnie is strong and she wouldn’t let someone as shameless as Hermione Lodge hurt her.”
Veronica sniffed looking up at him. “You really think so?”
“I have seen you stand up to many people since I met you and never has anyone broke you, and you’re not broken now.” Archie assured her as he caressed her face with his thumb.
“I love you Archiekins.”
“I love you too Ronnie.”
A/N Author’s note: I hope you all enjoyed a little fluffy, angsty Varchie. I apologize for the baby’s name honestly all I could think of was a little red headed baby and for some reason all I came up with was Ralph. What would you name Varchie’s baby?

Title: Don’t Run Away . Summary: Just after his father convinced him to stay, Jughead goes back inside to look for his girlfriend. It’s going to be a long night for those broken lovers. . A/N: Okay. This is my theory of what happened in between the party and their meeting at Pop’s. It was so unfair of them not to show it, therefore, I felt the need to write down the vision I have in my mind. This one goes as far as the time they leave Archie’s house, so tell me if you think I should continue! Hope you enjoy, and please, send me some feedback! . . . . The party was already a mess, but shit hit the fan only after his knuckles crashed against Chuck’s cheekbones after those stupid words came out from his lips. The former player- football player- decided to tag along with Cheryl in her stupid revenge plan, and much to their delight, chaos was created in what was supposed to be a small, unwanted birthday party. People ended up hurt, physically and emotionally, and even if his face hurt like hell, his heart had never been any tighter than at that very moment.
Jughead was a train wreck, with blood coming out from his bruised face, and all he wanted to do was to go home, wherever the hell that might be at that very moment. He left the Andrew’s residence as a soldier who returns from war- broken and troubled- and he didn’t want to look back on his decision to leave. He didn’t belong there, he knew. Yet, he could feel a strange force pulling him back inside.
It was pulling him towards her.
But his feelings had already caused too much trouble for one troublesome night.
He had to leave. And that was exactly what he was going to do before his father decided to  interfere.
“ Where the hell are you going?” FP bumped on his shoulder, taking him off the flow of people leaving the house.
“What!?” Jughead screamed, anger filling every letter of his statement. His troubled expression shocked his father, for never before had he seen his concealed son so troubled because of a stupid party. “ You gonna give me some advice on my right hook?”
The South Serpent let out a sigh, feeling somewhat annoyed to see that his son’s sarcasm was still present at such a crucial time. That boy really has no cure, and he would make sure to put some sense into his stubborn head. “ I want you to go back inside and talk to your girl.”
“ I don’t think it’s gonna work out. We have irreconcilable differences.”
It was easy for FP to see how hurt the boy was just by the way his eyes were cast down and how he was normally more aggressive with his sentences. His son was heartbroken and he had the right to be. Still, as an adult who has gone to hell and never entirely returned, his father knew better than to let him throw away what could be the only healthy and stable connection of his short, troubled life over a stupid thing like that. He wasn’t going to let his son lose a girl who’s crazy enough to love him for everything that he is.
He was not going to let Jughead make the same mistakes he did back then, for sure.
When the teen tried to make his way past his father, he was obviously held back once more. Another unsatisfied expression took over his juvenile face, as he refused to make any kind of eye contact with the Serpent.
“ Don’t run away from it! Don’t run away.”
His words struck hard in both his and Jughead’s hearts, for it was clear that FP was not just talking about what had just happened minutes before. He was talking about the whole thing and how he didn’t want to see history repeating itself, with his son as the new protagonist of another love tragedy staring the Jones family. “ You’ve got something good here- with her, with your friends. Something that we could never give you.”
Jughead remained silent, allowing his father’s pep talk to sink into the depths of his gloomy soul. For the first time in his life, the words coming from his old man were making sense and igniting something inside his core. The bruise was long forgotten, and he was impressed that he, Jughead Jones the Third, was actually being convinced otherwise.
Things were really messed up that night.
“ Also, man up.” Jughead looked at him, feeling somewhat encouraged. “ After what I just saw in there, she needs you.”
And that was when the whole thing wrapped up inside his heart. The figure of a blonde girl, with eyes on the verge of tears got even clearer in his head, and at that time he just knew he couldn’t leave her behind, especially not after everything she had listened to on that night. Harsh words were thrown at her simply because she was trying to do something nice, and more than ever he recognized his share of the guilt at that moment.
He was still hurt because of the party and because of their fight, but the idea of tears streaming down her soft cheeks was the one thing that was troubling him the most. That night, she was humiliated and exposed, and not only by people such as Cheryl and Chuck. He hurt her and took her for granted because of his own demons, and more than ever Jughead just wanted to punch every single one of them in the face.
Betty should have never gone through such terrible experiences like that, no. Not when he’s supposed to be around to protect her.
Not when he’s the one she calls boyfriend, and especially, not when she needs him.
Tch, he couldn’t believe his father had actually made him do the right thing.
Without thinking twice, the beanie boy turned on his heels and returned inside in order to seek for his girl. His greenish-blue eyes were scanning the whole place, looking for her golden pony tail in between the many heads that were heading towards the exit, but finding no sign of the girl. The entire place was a mess. Blue and Gold decorations spread around the floor, red solo cups forgotten everywhere, along with beer bottles and things he didn’t even dare try to identify.
Jughead even found Vegas’ toy spread around, and for his four-legged pal's safety, he would definitely remember to get rid of that thing as soon as he fixed things with his girlfriend.
He searched for her everywhere, checking the garage, the backyard and even the rooms upstairs, asking everyone who hadn’t still left if they had seen the Cooper girl. He placed a hand over his beanie, taking a deep breath as he took time to think before continuing his desperate search.
Betty had to be there. He didn’t remember seeing her leave, and hopefully, he didn’t miss her by accident while he was upstairs or in any of the other places where she wasn’t. He knew that if she had returned home, then his chances of talking to her would be close to zero. Her mother is a strong person, and even Jughead knows messing with Alice Cooper is a terrible mistake.
He had to find her before it was too late.
And thankfully, after passing by his favorite place in the house, the Jones boy finally spotted that beautiful, crown sweater she had been wearing since earlier. She was at the kitchen, leaning against the cupboard and with her back turned to him. Her right hand had a tight grip around the trash bag, and her left one was resting over the mahogany structure as if she was using it to support herself. Her shoulders were tensed, and as he slowly approached her, he could hear small sobs coming out of her mouth.
So she was crying, after all.
“ Betty.”
Her body shifted immediately at the sound of his voice, and he watched as she quickly used her free hand to wipe away her face. She took a deep breath in response, and as if she hadn’t heard him at all, the Cooper girl continued cleaning up and throwing the empty bottles inside the dark bag in her hand.
“ Betty… We need to-“ He reached out for her shoulder, but before he could even touch her, she took a step away, creating an even bigger barrier in between them.
“ Why are you still here, Jughead?” Her voice was harsh and hurt, and not being able to look into her eyes was simply killing him. She was trying to keep a distance between them as in a protective measure, and even if he had tried to do it before, Jug knew he couldn’t let her do the same.
“ I couldn’t leave you all alone in this state. Not after that stupid game.”
"You were on your way out before the game even started, so I don’t think that’s the case.”
“ Look, about what Chuck said… It was not your fault. He’s just a jerk. He-“
“ He was right!... He didn’t say a single lie about me and I’m the only one to be blamed for this whole night.”
“ No, you’re not. Tch, you can’t let that guy get the best of you. You’re a good person, Betty. You’re-“
“ Perfect?”
Silence stuck in between them, as they were now taken back to their fight earlier that night. Back to when their differences collided, and when his introvert personality made him say things he didn’t mean at all. He regretted his words more than ever at that moment, as he was blaming himself for labeling her like that.
A straight A student. A cheerleader. The perfect girl next door.
He had judged her for all of those things people normally do, not caring about the fact that maybe she was just as broken as he is. For him, Betty Cooper has always been the purest center of everything that is right in the world. For him she has always been, indeed, perfect. However, after learning more about her family and after listening to Chuck revealing her darkest secret, Jughead realized that his conception of right did not apply on her.
She’s a weirdo. A damaged, loner, outsider from the wrong side of the tracks who was trying to seem perfect for the others.
She’s an idiot. And so is he for letting the beast within her hide behind that facade.
“ Y-You’re not perfect… I’m sorry about what I’ve said.”
“ You shouldn’t. Neither you nor Chuck. It’s just the truth.”
“ No, it’s not. Betty, I-“
“ Look.” She raised her voice, making his eyes widen and his words disappear in his tongue. She was clearly not okay, and apparently, his approach was just making things worse. Still, he was not going to give up on her. He was not going to give up on them. “ I think you should just go. Your room is not a mess, and… Just go.”
“ I’m not going anywhere, Betty.”
“ Please, Jug.” Her voice crackled, and at that moment, he knew she had completely lost herself in her own guilt. “ Go away.”
Her pleading words made his heart pound, for many of the times he actually said those words to the ones close to him, all he really wanted was for one of them to stay. Even if her voice was telling him to go, he couldn’t care less about that. He was not going to do as he was told, and he was certainly not going to leave his girlfriend alone.
He was not running away that time.
“ No. I want to fix this.”
“ Jughead, there’s nothing you can do.“
“ I want to try.”
“ You can’-“
“ I want to help!”
"..." She bit her lower lip, as a tear fell from her eye. “ So clean this whole mess up!” She finally turned to face him, red eyes stinging from the wiped tears and all her insecurities forcing their way out of her body. She let go of the trash bag, and both of her hands were turned into fists. Betty was not mad at all, he could clearly see that. She was just hurt in the same way he was before, as she addressed herself as the personification of the word mess.
Betty was begging for help. And he would never ignore her silent call.
“ I’ve tried cleaning it all by myself, but I just can’t, Jug! I’ve tried, but in the end I just can’t. I’m crazy just like my family, and even if I’ve tried to rely on your words, I know that I’ll eventually drag them down with me. I’ll drag you down with me!”
“ No, you won’t! Betty, you’re destroying yourself right now, and you just can’t do it right now. This was just a mistake, and it wasn’t your fault.”
“ Yes, it was, Jug! You were right! I don’t know what you like or not, and I probably just did this party for myself… To prove that I can be perfect at something. I was trying to be the perfect girlfriend, but I can’t. I’m not and I’ll never be…” She took a step closer, placing her right hand on his soft cheek and lifting his head so her eyes were now focused on his bruise. “ As your girlfriend, I’m only good to get you hurt, Jug.”
“ No, you’re not.” He held her hand in place before she could move it away, and he could feel something different in the texture of her palm. It got him intrigued, but before he could check on it, he saw as her eyes shifted in a mix of sorrow and fear. He carefully let go of her hand, and watched as she turned it into a fist and brought it to her chest. There was something more causing her pain and by the end of that night, Jughead would make sure to find out what.
But not before he could mend their broken hearts.
“ Yes, I am…” She said, in a whisper, as a tear rolled down her cheek.
“ No, I’ve already told you that you’re not.” His expression was soft and tender now, and as he placed his hands on her cheeks, he could feel a strong need to pull her closer in a hug so he could shield her from the entire world. He wiped the tears that followed behind the first one that hit the floor, and he looked deep into her beautiful, blue eyes. “ Betty… We’re both hurt by things we both did. The party, the fight… This is not us. We’re better than that.”
“ H-How? We’re both so different, Jug.”
“ …. I don’t know, but…” He brushed his thumb across her right cheek, soothing her heart before letting his hands fall from her face to her shoulders. Her eyes looking at him with so much hope gave him strength, and Jughead knew exactly what he had to say. " But we have something- something different. We both have our secrets that we’re afraid to tell, but it’s definitely not because we don’t trust each other. We are different, but I also don’t think anyone would ever understand us as we do. Tonight… Tonight we just didn’t know.”
And by didn’t know, both of them understood what Jughead really meant with his words. He meant they didn’t know each other enough yet. They didn’t know each other’s tastes and dreams, and they certainly didn’t know all their fears and insecurities. Somehow, they felt like they didn’t know each other at all, even if they knew that was not true.
They knew they could trust each other.
They knew they could count on each other.
They knew their love was real.
Both Jughead and Betty knew that it was time for them to be completely honest about what’s inside their hearts, even if none of them actually knew exactly what they could find there. They were ready to face the unknown together, fighting against their darkness and secrets, and not caring about how vulnerable or how exposed that would leave them.
Only together they could win that fight. Only together they could fix their hearts.
And that was exactly what they were going to do.
But not in a place like that.
“Jug…"
“ I think that since we want this to work…” Because he knew they did. "We’ll need to talk about the things we don’t know.” He said, not taking his eyes away from hers. A soft, small smile crossed her lips, as she was silently thanking him for guiding her through that lightless path she had ended up following that night.
She was thankful for him being there, with her.
And she just knew things would, eventually, be okay.
" I think we’ll need milkshakes for that.”
“ Yeah…" He felt his chest getting warmer, as he caressed her arms." Shall we?”
“ Let’s go.”
And with his arm wrapped around her shoulders, both Jughead and Betty left what was left of Archie’s house. They were walking together to the one place where they knew they would find peace, and to the one place where all their fears wouldn’t be able to hurt them.
They were heading out to Pop’s. And in between milkshakes and words, they would certainly recover their lost birthday.

Riverdale 1x09 thoughts
Under the cut bcos its super long, read at your own risk
Jughead’s opening narrative
Blossoms have controlled the maple syrup business since the town’s founding? No mention of the Cooper’s/ Hal grandpa
AAAnnnd we don’t hear Jason speak yet again.
The sickly, sweet smell was inescapable - allusion to the Blossom’s influence on the town, how all-pervading their power is? And how they leave their mark on everything? That last comment by Cheryl after she kisses Archie - about her lipstick being Maple Red and the sweet taste being because of it? Was it really necessary? Is it some sort of clue? I love how Maple Syrup stands for so many things in this town - For the Blossoms, its obviously power and legacy; and its also the symbol for slut shaming so does that link slut shaming to the Blossom clan somehow? Its sweet, its sticky, its red - hmmm, blood is sticky and red too....
Bughead scene in Betty’s room
THEY’RE SITTING ON HER BED LITERALLY ON TOP OF EACH OTHER (*DYING WHALE NOISE*)
SHE IMMEDIATELY AIRS HER CONCERNS TO HIM
HE’S HER ROCK, HE’S THERE TO LISTEN AND HELP HER AND ASSUAGE HER FEARS AND BUILD HER UP AND SHE KNOWS THIS!
WE’LL FIGURE IT OUT - BETTY IS NOT ALONE ANYMORE, JUGHEAD IS WITH HER IN ALL OF THIS SHIT SHE’S GOING THROUGH
COME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (BRB - BUSY DYING)
HER SMILE AND LEANING TOWARDS HIM, HIS HAND SLIDING DOWN HER THIGH, HER HAND GOING UP TO HIS FACE, HIS SMILE, THE KISS
ALICE COOPER, I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!
THE STARTLED JUMP, HURRIEDLY BREAKING APART, THE LOOK OF IRRITATION ON BETTY’S FACE!
Alice shows no surprise at Juggie being there, means she knows, or she let him in. So Bughead already has the stamp of approval from Mama Cooper! It could be that Alice saw how their extreme disapproval had affected Polly (and Jason) and hence she decided not to do the same to Betty? Or maybe she genuinely likes Juggie like Madchen has said?
Her deciding to go after the Blossoms reeks of anger about her own failure to get her daughter back. She talks about the Cooper-Blossoms feud, but its really something else, something we will know only in ep 12. What the Blossoms really did to the Coopers. Why would Alice hate the Blossoms so much for what they did to her husband’s grandpa? This is personal (Hal says as much)
“According to your milquetoast father”- what’s with Alice calling Hal all these coward names? What did Hal do or didn’t do that was so cowardly? She brought this up earlier - when Betty questioned Hal if he had killed Jason - she said he wouldn’t have the stomach for it.
Seriously did Alice hate Jason so much just because he knocked up her daughter? She was hoping he’d rot in hell when they found his body, she was positively gloating when the coroner told her about scavenger activity and him being tortured, she thinks killing him would be a brave thing to do. This much hatred for a boy who got her daughter pregnant? Alice can be dramatic I know, but this is a bit too much, even for her.
Ronnie and Hermione
I’m glad Hermione told Ronnie exactly what was happening with Fred and how Hiram had gotten to know about them
Seriously the kids in this show seem so much more mature than the adults, Ronnie tells her mom to come clean - this is a small town, tell him before he gets to know from anyone else.
Cheryl and Archie
What’s with all this sudden interest in Archie, Cheryl? Has she always been interested? Remember Betty warning Ronnie in the pilot not to talk about Archie when Cheryl approaches them? Do they have a history? I don’t want Kevin or Reggie, I want you. She makes it seem as though it was all about him defending her to Sheriff Keller, but idk.
Ethel and Ronnie
Ronnie recognized Ethel’s poem for what it was - a cry for help. Then her confession to Kevin about what she and her BFF at Spence did to a girl called Paige (and the girl had to have therapy and transfer schools). Clearly she feels guilty as hell. Ronnie is trying to change and that’s what’s the best thing about her. She hardly ever backslides on her mission, in fact the only glimpses we see of the old Ronnie is possibly the regret laced in her voice when she talks about what they lost.
I love that she immediately talked to Ethel and offered compassion and kindness. Ronnie is such friendship goals - really!
Archie and Penelope Blossom
That far angle camera shot with both of them standing made me think they were gonna kiss! Archie - you truly are a ginger stallion offering rides to anyone who cares to get on!
Penelope brought up that jersey thing again - not only brought it up - they actually showed us that moment from the funeral when Archie offered her Jason’s jersey which makes me think this is important somehow. The fact that Penelope commented on his resemblance to Jason yet again - ‘i swear when the light hits you just right” - makes me wonder if that theory about him being the victim might not be true? Or the resemblance may not be concerned with the murder itself but to some other secrets that maybe revealed as to the truth of these kids’ real parentage? If Cheryl and Jason are not really Blossoms, then the whole legacy plot-line fails. Jason is not the heir, neither is Cheryl.
Why does everyone need to reiterate the fact that Archie is good and decent unlike everyone else in this town??? Show us, don’t tell us. We had Cheryl, Mr and Mrs Blossom all talk about his great character and his goodness. Why are they rubbing in that fact? Is it not obvious? Or is it foreshadowing that he really is not good and decent and is going to do something dastardly? Or is it that in the Blossom’s book, good and decent people can be bought and /or used to their advantage? Like maybe they used some other good and decent people? Eg; Mary Andrews. What if Penelope was barren and couldn’t have children and since it was so important for the Blossoms to have a heir, Clifford had Jason and Cheryl with Mary (they need not have slept together, IVF and surrogacy were viable options) or someone else entirely? Maybe Fred needed money to set up the business and Mary was paid handsomely for it. And Fred wasn’t entirely on board with it, hence the tension between him and Mary and also the reason why they separated years later? Could this be the secret Fred is keeping? It was said that Cheryl and Jason’s twincest would be explored in this episode, but not quite in the way we expect. Was it an allusion to Cheryl kissing Archie? I know this theory has a hole because why would Clifford and Penelope actively encourage Archie to hang out with Cheryl? But I’m excited at the possibility that there maybe a link somewhere - Archie resembling Jason cannot just be a coincidence. The theory that Archie may not really be Fred’s son but Mary and Clifford’s has already been talked about. This could also be a reason for Fred and Mary to split if he found out years later. And maybe Cliff didn’t know, Mary never told him cause she was already married to Fred or something? But they’re drawn to Archie because he reminds them of Jason. Else its hard to understand the Blossom’s fixation with him! Archie’s loyalty to his dad keeps coming up too, he was willing to give up his musical career if Cliff would help his dad’’s business. It would be poetic if Fred wasn’t really his dad, yet they have this inextricable bond.
Archie was very believably seduced by the promise of a great musical future at the Bradenburg school and who wouldn’t be?
The kids in the common room
Jughead being the first to deduce that Mrs Blossom offering something to Archie cannot be without any strings attached - he’s so razor sharp, this boy!
Okay with you being a gigolo?
Ronnie is wise - she knows its hard to get by without connections but also that these connections come with a price-tag.
She looks to Betty for support, but Betty thinks its a great idea. Throwback to Archie asking Ronnie for support when Betty was attacking him about the Grundy thing, and Ronnie sides with Betty! Methinks Betty wasn’t thinking about Archie here, she wanted someone to get info on her sister for her, which is okay!
Maple syrup tapping scene
That scroll thing was ludicrous!
Cheryl was so nervous about the tree tapping thing, Archie’s encouragement got her going. Cheryl demeanor is a facade, she’s lost and lonely and also bitter and jealous. She wanted her parents’ attention, but Jason got it, he became the Golden boy. So she resorted to wild erratic behavior to get her parents’ attention. Inside, she’s just messed up, she craves approval and attention. Like all attention hungry kids she will do whatever it takes to ensure that all eyes are on her. She loves flattery and is immediately susceptible to anyone who even shows her a modicum of kindness, which shows she hasn’t had much growing up. Her parents are horrible to her, her brother was good to her, but he died. I wonder if her yearning for her parents’ approval made her hate Jason to deep down? Or at least resent him for being the favorite? Did she inwardly rejoice when he decided to run away, knowing that now her parents would now rely on her with Jason gone? Maybe they’d even cut him off from their legacy and she could be the heir? I did support the Cheryl killed Jason theory because of this notion. She does have a motive. If it were to come out that she actually really hated Jason and was jealous of him, she would have a very good reason to do away with him. It could also be that she loved him just like she says she does, and still thinks Polly killed her brother. That’s why she reddened Polly’s face and why she was the one to ask her to come stay with them in Thornhill.
Polly thinks the Blossoms killed Jason, Cheryl thinks Polly did and the Blossoms just want their heirs aka Jason’s children that Polly’s carrying. Ugh! What a mess!
Archie standing up for Cheryl was sweet  and very Archie-like but it was a tad overdone - “Don’t underestimate Cheryl”? Don’t bet against her”? I think its foreshadowing about how crazed, dangerous and vindictive Cheryl really can be if you get on her wrong side which Archie managed to do by the end of the episode! Also her prompting him about her 4.0 GPA was so Cheryl!!!
Archie gets sucked into escorting Cheryl to a banquet. And he’s going to have a suit tailor-fitted for the occasion! Poor sod!
So Ethel’s grandpa and dad are both called Manfred?
Hermione and Fred
Hermione finally came clean to Fred and told him about the land and the Lodges being the anonymous buyers. Fred was understandably pissed. Hermione is a smart cookie, maybe her business acumen is actually better than her husband’s and she’s the one calling all the shots while pretending to be this helpless, hapless woman. Didn’t Penelope say at the end that they should’ve sent Hermione to jail instead of Hiram?
So Clifford told Hiram that Hermione and Fred were together? Why? Just to gloat? Or to get him to sabotage his own building which is precisely what he did. So he knows exactly how Hiram would react. I’m curious about Hiram. If he was this cold-blooded businessman that everyone says he is, he wouldn’t react so impractically to his wife seeing Fred. He wouldn’t sabotage himself just for getting back at his wife’s lover, he could’ve thought up of other ways to deal with Fred. So Hiram loves Hermione, but does Hermione love Hiram? Was she just playing a game with Fred so he would get on board SoDale? But Fred was interested in SoDale anyway, She could’ve got him on board even without playing cootchie-coo with him. So did she really care?
Fred toughened up and asked for a 20% stake and also ended things with him and Hermione. Which was great. Showed backbone and also his - I’m sick of you people using me and my family as pawns- speaks about his righteous anger against being taken for a ride. Hermione wasn’t pleased but had to grin and bear it for now. Hiram is certainly not going to be pleased.
Back to Bughead and Cheryl (and I’m back to capslock)
POWER COUPLE WALK IN STEP
BETTY LOOKING TO JUGGIE FOR REASSURANCE SINCE SHE FINDS HER COURAGE FALTERING WHEN SHE CONFRONTS CHERYL
HE LOOKS BACK AT HER WITH A -YOU’VE GOT THIS BABE
AND OUR BABE ATTACKS - WHAT STOCKHOLM SYNDROME SPELL HAVE YOU CAST OVER MY SISTER?
JUGGIE LOOKS ON ADMIRINGLY AT WIFEY WITH A SMILE
THEN ATTACKS WITH HIS OWN - HOSTAGES DO NOT GET TO MAKE OUTGOING CALLS!
SO NANA BLOSSOM’S POWERS ARE TRUE, POLLY IS HAVING TWINS!
Cheryl mentions a Dr Patel, Is he Raj and Tina Patel’s dad? If yes, will we see them in Riverdale S2? Sidenote: Isn’t Tina one of Cheryl’s friends already?
CHERYL DID YOU JUST CALL MY SON A HOBO YOU WITCH!!! (I love Cheryl btw, she’s so extra and Madelaine plays her so well)
SHE LITERALLY CUTS THROUGH THEM, PUSHING THEM APART! I already mentioned I think this is foreshadowing that she will be responsible for the conflict that creates a rift between Bughead.
BUT FEAR NOT, IT’S ONLY MOMENTARY. SINCE OUR BOY’S HAND IS BACK ON HIS GIRL’S BACK ALMOST THE IMMEDIATE NEXT SECOND! WHICH ALSO MEANS THE BUGHEAD RIFT IS GOING TO BE VERY VERY MOMENTARY AND THEY WILL BE BACK TOGETHER ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND STRONGER THAN EVER!
Ronnie and Ethel
Ronnie telling Ethel her dad used to buy her expensive gifts whenever he did something wrong. Poor Ronnie. Her heartbreak at finding out Ethel’s dad had attempted suicide was so genuine, that scene was powerful and Camila played it very well, pulling apart the beads from her neck, symbolically destroying her dad’s hold over her. And her finally telling her mom she as done lying for him. It was a touch choice for Ronnie to make, loyalty to family or doing the right thing. I’m so glad she had the strength of character to make the more difficult choice!
Cheryl at Archie’s house
OMG Cheryl is really so extra. She called Fred DILF!
The Icewoman cometh!
Bribing Archie with an ‘84 Les Paul in their signature colour. Swoon!
I soo love Jughead’s expressions all through this exchange!
‘My claustrophobia acts up in small houses’. Is this going to come up again? Cheryl’s claustrophobia? Is someone going to lock her up in dark, dingy closeted space and that triggers something in her? Is she the one in danger that they’re trying to rescue in that snow scene like so many have already pointed out?
Cheryl kisses Archie twice and leaves a lipstick mark in this episode - on his cheeks and lips. Is this foreshadowing/ symbolism of some sort?
‘He’s also pimping himself out to Cheryl’ - Forsythe ‘subtle’ Jones everyone!
Hal and Alice
So Hal fired Alice and blocked her password? Really? He went there? And Alice calls him milquetoast?? More like fearless warrior to me! Hal showed his petty, vindictive side too, so there’s that!
So what’s this, Hal? You hate the Blossoms more than anyone, you don’t want to raise a child with Blossom blood, you have a personal vendetta against the Blossoms from before you were even born! And you’re telling Alice you won’t support her in HER personal vendetta? What even???
Okay, theory time! We know that Alice was mad at Hal for what he did to her - the same thing he did to Polly. But he only made an appointment for Polly. He may have done the same for Alice, but does that make it obvious she actually aborted the child? Maybe she gave it up for adoption (this was a choice the Coopers were on board with even for Polly)? Maybe the child was Cliff Blossom’s and that’s why Hal’s extreme hatred for any child with Blossom blood? Maybe Cliff raped Alice and got away because of his powerful connections and that’s why Alice’s extreme hatred for Cliff? I know it sounds crazy but it could explain a lot. I initially thought that Jason and Cheryl could be Alice’s kids (with Clifford) and they gave them up to the Blossoms to raise since Penelope was barren or whatever, but then Polly and Jason incest - yewww! But it would be delicious if the twins thing were actually a Cooper family thing and not a Blossom family one like everyone’s thinking, no??
Alice certainly has rage issues, throwing a brick at your husband, calling him a bastard all in front of your teenage daughter? WTF Alice?
Bughead at the Blue and Gold!
BETTY TELLING JUGGIE ABOUT HER PARENTS FIGHTING AND HOW ALICE THREW A BRICK AT HAL. LIKE I SAID, HE’S HER ROCK AND SHE CANNOT HIDE ANYTHING FROM HIM NO MATTER HOW UGLY!
JUGHEAD BEING JUGHEAD WHEN HE SAYS I WISH I’D SEEN THAT. HIS HUMOUR AND SARCASM ARE SO PART OF HIM NOW, THEY’RE NOT AN ARMOUR ANYMORE
BETTY ROLLING HER EYES AT HIM AND HE IMMEDIATELY APOLOGIZING FOR BEING INSENSITIVE - MARRIED!!!!!
BETTY BREAKING DOWN - THE COOPERS WON’T EXIST ANYMORE. SHE’S TIRED OF FIGHTING, POOR BABY, SHE’S EXHAUSTED AND SHE DOESN’T KNOW WHERE IT’S ALL GOING AND NOTHING IS MAKING SENSE
*SUPPORTIVE BOYFRIEND MODE ACTIVATED* - YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THE WHITE NOISE, STRONGER THAN YOUR FATHER, STRONGER THAN YOUR MOTHER, YOU’RE HOLDING YOUR FAMILY TOGETHER, DON’T GIVE UP, DON’T
THAT COLLAR GRAB, THE EARNESTNESS, THE URGENCY IN HIS TONE, HE CANNOT SEE HER BREAK APART, SHE IS HIS CONVICTION, HER FIGHT IS HIS FIGHT TOO. HIS FAITH IN HER ABILITY TO HOLD HER FAMILY TOGETHER IS AN ASSERTION THAT IF HE COULDN’T DO IT SHE COULD! SHE HAS TO SUCCEED, THEN MAYBE SOMEWHERE THERE WOULD BE SOME HOPE FOR HIM TOO!
DID YOU NOTICE HE SAID YOU’RE HOLDING “THIS” FAMILY TOGETHER - NOT “YOUR” FAMILY BUT “THIS” FAMILY- HE CONSIDERS HIMSELF A PART OF HER FAMILY. SHE’S HOLDING HIM TOGETHER TOO! SHE MADE HIM WHOLE, FIXED ALL HIS BROKEN PIECES. HIS “DON’T LET GO” WAS A PLEA FOR HER NOT TO LET GO OF HERSELF - BETTY COOPER, OF WHO SHE WAS DEEP UNDERNEATH AND WHAT SHE’S CAPABLE OF AND WHAT SHE BELIEVES IN.
SHE IS IMMEDIATELY CONVINCED BECAUSE “I WON’T” IS A PROMISE SHE MAKES TO HIM. A PROMISE THAT SHE WILL BE WHOLE, UNBROKEN AND STRONG FOR HIS SAKE AND WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP HIS FAITH IN HER ALIVE!
THE HUG!
THAT’S ALL - GO HOME
Val and Archie
WHAT DID CHERYL SAY TO VALERIE??
The Blossoms are buying you!
If you have to ask - you don’t know me at all! Slay, Valerie!
Val blowing off Archie - good for you, Val!
Archie at Thornhill
Cliff Blossom thinks Archie by his daughter’s side could improve her image? Why Archie again?
What were Cheryl and her dad arguing about when Archie was dancing with Polly?
Polly was playing Nancy Drew, I was right! But she’s being foolish. She’s heavily pregnant (with twins!) and she needs to protect her babies first. She entered the enemy’s lair without a thought for her own protection? She’s scared, she doesn’t want the Blossoms to know, which means she thinks they are dangerous. Why would she put herself and her babies willingly in harm’s way just because of the Cooper penchant for sleuthing? Also don’t understand how Betty and Alice can be okay with this madcap scheme?
Cheryl again with the you’re-the-only-good-person-in-this-town which changed the minute Archie wanted to leave. So she’s susceptible to flattery and also petty and vindictive when rejected. Did she kill Jason because he was kind of ‘rejecting’ her for Polly? Or was she secretly happy he was out of the picture so now she could become the focus for her parents?
There could be 2 reasons Cheryl hates Polly. One because Polly’s kids would be the heirs to the Blossom legacy and not her. After Jason she may have thought herself to be the sole claimant. But Polly being pregnant ruined everything for her. Btw, did they do a DNA/ paternity test yet to find if Polly is telling the truth about Jason being the father? The Blossoms are just taking Polly’s (and the Cooper’s) word for it? I think they would smell something underhanded knowing the Coopers are involved. Also Cheryl could hate Polly because she still thinks Polly killed Jason and wants to exact her own revenge on Polly.
So Clifford sent Hiram to jail and that makes Hiram a suspect. But does this mean Hiram is really innocent? Or that Clifford just exposed his guilty ass?
Bughead and Alice
BETTY LOOKING AT JUGGIE TO INVITE HER MOM TO THE BLUE AND GOLD!
*SON-IN-LAW MODE ACTIVATED*
BLUE AND GOLD HAS A HIGHER ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET THAN THE REGISTER? IS THAT POSSIBLE?
BUGHEAD BUGHEAD BUGHEAD
*SCREAMING*
BYE
ETA:
The last scene with Bughead realizing Hiram Lodge could be a suspect, Archie looking on clueless, while Betty and Jughead go back and forth completing each other’s sentences - OMG they’re so fucking attuned to each other!!
They have Hermione Lodge, the Blossoms, The Coopers, Hiram Lodge and Reggie Mantle (???? Why??) as probable suspects already. Why is FP Jones not on the murder board???? Because they don’t know about the jacket?
THE PROMO FOR 110
JUGHEAD LOOKING UPSET AT THE MENTION OF A BIRTHDAY PARTY (MAYBE HE HASN’T HAD ONE IN FOREVER BCOS OF HIS DAD OR SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED AT THE LAST PARTY HE HAD AND HE DECIDED NEVER TO HAVE ONE BCOS IT BRINGS BACK BAD MEMORIES? *SOBBING*)
BURGER CAKE
BETTY IN A CROWN SWEATER

Initial Thoughts--6x12 Murder Most Foul
--Well that episode was…..kind of amazing!  I honestly loved it!  Yeah that twist at the end hurt a lot for a Hook fan, and had some definite timeline issues, but I’ve got to say, as a writer I appreciated it soooo much! That’s the kind of twist-that-completely-turns-a-story-on-its-head that writers live to create!
--And before we get into any more, let’s keep a few things in mind.  *****warning!  Spoilers ahead!  If you don’t want to see spoilers past 6x12 skip to the next paragraph!  I’m serious!  Abandon all hope of staying spoiler free all ye who enter here! Okay, don’t say I didn’t warn you.**** So we know the CS wedding is in 6x20. Before the CS wedding can take place, there needs to be a proposal.  Likely there are a few episodes in between the proposal and the wedding.  No way Killian proposes until this secret is out in the open.  So what does all this tell us?  This whole thing is resolved within a matter of an episode or two.  The pain will be short-lived.
--Okay.  I’ll talk about that shocker of an ending in a moment, but first, let’s focus on what we got up until that moment.
--Let’s start with OQ…such as it is.  I knew as soon as I saw the sneak peak of Regina’s talk with Snow that things were going to go horribly wrong.  I feel so bad for Regina.  She misses Robin so badly, and she’s trying so desperately to find what she had before with this new Robin, but it’s just not the same.  HE’s not the same.  I think there’s more to this Robin than meets the eye.  I don’t think he’s just some sort of AU version of himself cooked up by the EQ’s wish.  I think, in some way, this is the Robin we know…but as he would have been without ever knowing Marian. He’s darker, without that strong moral code our Robin has.
--That kiss was heartbreaking.  Regina’s starting to realize she can’t just wake up her Robin within this guy.  He’s not the same guy she fell in love with.  Now the big question is what is Robin’s agenda?  What does he want with that box from her vault?
--And then there’s Zelena. I have a feeling we’re about to get into some bumpy seas ahead with her.  It’s clear WW Robin showing up makes her feel threatened and thus reawakens her wicked side.  She’s going to make trouble.  I can feel it.
--And now back to Captain Charming Swan…
--Poor David!  He’s clearly at the end of his rope and barely hanging on.  He really needs Snow to help ground him, so everything is hitting him even harder than it normally would.
--I love how eager Killian is to help David…but also how clearly he realizes that David is making some epic mistakes in his thinking.  I love that when push comes to shove, Killian stops David from doing something he can’t come back from.
--King George is still a world class jerk.  Regardless of who did the actual stabbing, I still say George has daddy Nolan’s blood on his hands.  He ordered the hit.  (Not to say Killian wasn’t incredibly wrong for what he did.)
--I felt so bad for Killian in the present timeline.  He’s worked so hard to change, but he still wonders if he could ever be good enough for Emma.  Such a wonderful step toward a healthy way of dealing with his insecurities though, going to a therapist to talk things out!  Our little stab-happy pirate is learning!
--And the ring!  It’s happening folks!  The CS wedding arc is beginning!  I knew proposal talk was coming in this episode, but I was not prepared for the feels.  I was definitely not prepared for the feels!
--Wow, we once again got Rumple being…Rumple in the past.  It was just plain nasty to offer a cure for whatever illness was attacking the Nolan boys but make the parents choose to give one of their son’s up to save the other one.  Totally heartless there!
--Both of the CS solo scenes in this episode were absolutely amazing!  Emma is so completely in love with Killian, and this episode showed that to full display.  She’s completely and totally smitten.  It’s beautiful to behold.
--I know Killian’s main mission was to stall Emma in that scene where David was stealing her potion making materials, but it got real, and it got emotional.  I loved that Killian shared his pain and fears over what almost happened with Gideon.  So glad he got a chance to express that.  And he was this close to proposing right then and there!  If only David’s timing wasn’t so absolutely awful!
--Captain Charming with their little magical chemistry set was hilarious!  The two of them turning in a circle counter clockwise because they didn’t want to take a chance they’d mess up the spell if they just moved the beaker, lol!
--I was so proud of Daddy Nolan!  He’d become a drunk, was in danger of losing his family and ruining his life, but then he turned it around.  In the end, he proved himself willing to stand up to King George himself in order to protect his son.
--My absolute favorite scene in the episode…probably my favorite scene in a long time was the scene between Killian and David in the mental hospital.  I loved Killian stepping in and stopping David from murdering George.  I loved how calm and collected Killian was while he let David rage at him.  I loved the way David finally broke and admitted what’s really bothering him. What if even if he is a hero he can’t get his happy ending?  What if he can’t break the curse with his wife?  What if he can’t protect his daughter?   David is defined by his fierce love and protective instincts toward his family.  The thought of failing his family, of failing to protect them, it kills him, and it totally explains this week’s behavior. The vulnerability he showed, breaking down and admitting this to Killian…perfect.
--I loved that once again, Killian gave David the choice.  He told him he’d step aside….but he also made sure David realized what the choice to kill George would end up doing to him.  It would destroy him.  The way David just started sobbing then and Killian hugged him was everything I could have hoped for these two in this episode!  It was one of those moments that completely solidifies a friendship. And while I’m talking about this particular scene, how about a standing ovation for Colin and especially Josh. That was A+ acting if ever I saw it!
--The scene between David and Killian at the harbor was, likewise, everything I could have wished. I loved David thanking Killian for stopping him and apologizing for what happened earlier in the day.  And, of course, the actual conversation asking for the blessing was perfect.  Killian was nervous, but also confident.  It was clear he not only loves Emma, but loves the whole family and truly respects David.  It was also clear that it was simply a blessing being asked and given not “permission”.
--Alright, we’ve put it off about as long as we can.  Let’s talk about that ending scene.  I was genuinely shocked to find out that Killian actually was the one who killed David’s father.  I really didn’t see that coming!  For one thing…it really doesn’t fit with the timeline.  (What? A&E messed up a timeline?  I’m shocked!  Shocked I tell you!)  Killian wasn’t back in the Enchanted Forest until a couple decades after David’s dad was killed.  I suppose they could make it work by saying Killian was on a snack run for Pan…but they would definitely have been better off making that clear if it’s the case.
--Do I like that it turned out to be Hook that did the deed?  I’m kind of of two minds here.  On the one hand, no, I don’t like that Killian seems to be constantly hit over the head with things from the past coming back to haunt him.  We know Killian was a bad guy in the past.  (Good grief!  He killed his own father.  How much worse can you get?)  But he’s changed; he’s not that man anymore.  We’ve had multiple “Killian did something bad in the past and he has makes up for it in the present” incidents throughout the show. Does another one really add anything?  Can the guy get a break?  Why does he have to be constantly raked over the coals?
--On the other hand…part of me really likes it.  No, I don’t like that Killian killed daddy Nolan, but I like that Killian’s redemption gets to be refined even further.  Every terrible deed from Killian’s past that he confronts is a further step toward complete redemption.  By confronting his past misdeeds and truly trying to make them right, he shows that his redemption is hard-fought and earned.  Quite simply, confronting another crime from his past makes Killian a better man in the present, and I’m 100% here for that.
--I can see yet another good come out of this painful, painful revelation—maybe by dealing with this awful moment from his past, Killian will be able to finally find that self-forgiveness he’s still lacking.  In case we hadn’t realized it was still the last thing holding him back from full redemption, it was brought up again at the beginning of season 7 when Killian had that talk with Belle on the Jolly about how he can’t forgive himself. Until he does, he’s a prisoner of his guilt.  I have hope this incident, and the love of Emma and the rest of the family, will help him jump over this one last hurdle to total hero status.
--The episode left us wondering exactly what Killian would do, how he would deal with this new knowledge of just what happened to David’s dad.  I think the promo for 6x13 gave us a pretty good hint of that.  He goes to Archie almost right away and confesses the whole thing to him and asks for advice.  Killian has learned from his past mistakes.  He knows he can’t just keep this secret to himself.  He can’t just go ahead with the proposal and pretend like everything’s fine with this hanging over his head.  It’s not.  He knows what the right thing is—telling Emma the truth, but he’s terrified of losing her if he tells her what he did in the past.  I honestly think he’ll come clean next episode.  He’ll tell Emma—and hopefully also David what he did, and then they will forgive him.  This isn’t going to be a big thing hanging over their heads.  It just isn’t.  Yes, the episode ended on a very angsty note, but this kind of angst will only end up strengthening the CS relationship.  They’ll be stronger than ever going into the big proposal in the very near future!
