2. Which of your own fanfics have you reread the most?

this feels like something i should know the answer to but i have NO idea! i can’t even work out if it’s likely a multichap or a one shot?! and does it include rereading during editing or??!!

(yknow it’d be cool if the history function let you filter! do your own stories even show up in the history though???)

if i had to guess i’d maaaaaaaaybe go for A time to refrain (from embracing) bc:

shortest so takes least time to read

i knew it was the potential jumping off point for a series (with that name, pls) so i reckon i must’ve reread it hmming before i even planned the next 2 parts

i definitely reread it some before and during writing part 2 of season, and a lot for part 3

it’s not very funny so it’s kinda different

not much about it fucks me off

but i’m probably wrong cos it’s not that old so idk! one of them probably????

3. Describe the differences between your first fanfic and your most recent fanfic.

ok, i’m gonna go for my first gg ff rather than first ff bc a. i know what it was and b. at least vaguely remember it (even though it turns out i’d forgotten about it the other day)

ok so the good kind (the first one) is beth pov. i think a lot of ppl’s first fic(s) in the fandom are? she’s a fairly obvious first choice as a window into both the show’s world and the bethnrio relationship, cos we spend a lot of time with her. whereas found my thrill (most recent) is turner pov, bc beth and rio are boring.

ooh also first: titled for a line of dialogue from the show v. most recent: titled for something REFERENCING a line of dialogue from the show. is that growth?!

the first one is mm i guess almost a missing scene? but, like, it’s something which i absolutely do not think happened in canon. it would’ve been fun if it did though! and it’s a slight sort of narrative fix-it i guess? whereas most recent: i am Convinced that’s what was going on with turner. like.... i’m right.

first one: i did NOT have rio’s voice (for dialogue) down AT ALL. (don’t think i did until i wrote something from his pov really.) most recent one: not only does rio not get to say anything, neither does beth, and neither does anyone else. I HATE IT WHEN THEY SPEAK. THEY SHOULD NOT.

also, first one: the dialogue is not properly punctuated. most recent: no dialogue at all! HOW TO AVOID PROBLEMS 101 HA

first one: i like the cranky beth pov yknow! it feels a leeeeeeetle...on the nose? more tell less show than now in terms of stating her feelings rather than alluding to them? though there’s definitely some blatant avoidance as it progresses. most recent: way more teased out ambiguity, bizarre imagery, general oddness

first one: maybe not looooooads of dialogue but beth n rio spend most of it on the phone so there’s a fair bit of them speaking (gross) v aforementioned pleasing none of that

first one: fair bit of semi-public masturbation v almost some but none (can’t get too predictable amiright)

first one: as with the title, some direct refs to show dialogue which i find at least borderline cringey. most recent: likely more of them tbh but they’re more buried?

first one: gratuitous europeanisms/britishisms (there’s french in the notes and i assume the story). most recent: giving up on the english language vibes up to eleventy thousand (turner’s narration has french, implied portuguese technically, essentially dutch, san lorenzen which is a language vonnegut made up, latin, who knows what else. english is a stupid language which doesnt contain the words i want which i consider to be very rude.)

also also: first one, despite verging into pwp territory, has... i would say a plot? like a clearly defined thing happens. there’s a start and a middle and an end. most recent: a little hazier, maybe? more of a character study?

first one: i don’t think i DID much to prep for it, bc the characters and the ep were v fresh in my mind. most recent: season 1 was long ago and im not as much of an encyclopaedia of turnerisms, so the rewatch was really helpful, and i rererewatched several of his scenes. also i made notes before i started! only like half a page and it was mostly arrows, but still that’s more than i did for the first one!

first one: the characters’ names are barely mentioned in the narration (i think rio’s name MIGHT be there once?!) vs. i have accepted referring to characters by name into my life.

and then, i know this said differences but IT’S NOT THE BOSS OF ME and you gotta compare AND contrast surely?!

these fics are actually kinda similar in a way in that they both slot into canon events (i think more than anything else i’ve written?) and they’re both kinda about ok the character went from point A to B but like why...what’s going ON in that hollow head

11. What kind of relationships are you most interested in writing?
