The CyberLife app - Install today
One dark and dreary night during the android revolution of 2038, an RK800 android infiltrated the headquarter of the deviant androids. It delivered the unconscious deviant leader and his followers to the FBI, represented by one Richard Perkins.
“You knocked it out?” Perkins prodded. “Strange… our profile says you’re more agile than actually strong.“
“No, North knocked him out”, RK800 corrected the assumption.
“Wow. Their infighting must be worse than we anticipated. Neat!”
“Actually, no”, the RK800 said. “This isn’t quite how it happened.”
And the android remembered…
Earlier the same day, at the Detroit Central Police station:
“I could swear it’s a deviant!” Gavin Reed repeated for the perhaps tenth time today. “That’s not normal, it going…”
“Looooook”, Tina Chen interrupted her friend, “if you are worried THAT much, just ask Hank to check Connor’s status in the CyberLife app.”
“That’s bulls… no, actually it’s not a bad idea”, Gavin conceded.
The “wanted for [insert crime]” and “missing our android, the kids are devasted, large finder’s fee!” notices were piling up at the DPD, something that shouldn’t have been possible, because every android came with an app that among other things tracked the damn things 24/7. But for some obscure reasons the tracking function failed when the android in question had went deviant. So if Connor was still showing up in the app… admittedly it could also mean that he had hacked the phone the little program was running on. But even so checking the app was a good start.
However, Hank only gave the two younger officers a blank stare when they inquired about the app.
“I haven’t got the fuggiest idea what you are talking about.”
“The CyberLife app! Come on, now! Everyone has it installed – Chris, Tina, me… it’s essential for managing your android, whether you bought it or got saddled with it as a product sample.”
“Uh-uh. That shit isn’t going anywhere near my phone”, Hank noped out.
But at least, the other two realized, he had confirmed to own a smartphone. Even Chris Miller, who was holding Hank Anderson in great regard, bordering on hero-worship, had come to doubt whether his idol bothered with owning such a devilish piece of modern technology.
“You want to tell me we have no means of controlling the new android?!” Gavin exploded. “Even if it’s a temporary loan only, we should have it registered in our equipment database!”
“Ah, should we? That’s nice…” Hank replied non-committally.
“You… you…” Gavin sputtered.
“The word you’re looking for is “You useless sack o’shit that will polish my snout if I do not go pester someone else RIGHT NOW””, Hank said, going from cheerfully-helpful to a low, threatening growl.
A minute later Gavin stormed Captain Fowler’s office, demanding the control codes for the RK800 android.
“I’ve mailed those to Hank”, the Captain started, before understanding dawned. “I’ve… mailed… them to… Hank. Oh, right. I see.” The sentence included to words that were utterly incompatible: Lieutenant Anderson and reading his own e-mails. With a nod and a few clicks Fowler forwarded the e-mail to Gavin’s work account. “There you go! Anything else?”
“Nah, nothing. Thanks.”
The Captain shook his head. Hank and Gavin! Android haters both of them, only Hank wanted the machines gone, poof into nothingness as if they’d never existed, while Gavin was mainly feeling threatened in his job-security and perceived awesomeness.
Much to Gavin’s dismay entering Connor into the database didn’t produce irregularities of any kind. That annoying, ugly thing was stable as fuck. But if there were no grounds for returning it to Cyberlife, maybe the situation could still work in Gavin’s favor…?
“This, Tina”, the man said with a grin while loading the CyberLife app on his own phone, “is where the fun begins! First we call over our new device…”
One push of a button and thirty seconds later Connor reported for service.
“Cute”, Tina said, then leaned over to get a good look at Gavin’s phone screen. “Can you make it follow wherever you point the phone? That would be kinda cool.”
“No”, Gavin answered, the same split-second Connor protested with a louder “No!”.
“But even so… let’s put it into customization mode!”
This time Connor only came to utter the “N” of “No” before he stiffened, awaiting the changes the program would force onto him by the will of his (temporary) legitimate owners.
“What the fuck, I cannot change that visage? On a detective android that might need to infiltrate locations?” Gavin wondered. “Stupid prototype! Okay, next is… ah, right. The damn voice.”
“RK800’s voice has been carefully selected to generate positive feelings and a warm welcome into any workplace situation”, the CyberLife app chattered away. “It is considered ideal. Are you sure you want to change the voice now? Y/N”
“Yes!” Tina called, grabbing the phone from Gavin’s hands. She circled through several voices before she selected one. “Perfect! And now the name… Connor is the default, time to change that!”
Gavin watched with interested what would happen next.
With a subtle “whirr” the RK800 android returned from maintenance mode.
“I am Ferdinand von Aegir!“ he proclaimed, a phrase that made Tina explode with laughter. “The android sent by Cyberlife. And you are silly.”
“Yes, yes! Do it again!”
When Connor von Aegir wasn’t inclined to do Tina’s bidding, the officer pushed the “test” button in the app. Promptly Connor went “I am Ferdinand von Aegir” again.
“That’s a meme?” Gavin asked.
“Haha, yes! Or it used to be one when we were teens. But you never were much of a gamer, huh?”
Tina handed the phone back. “You next!” she prompted her friend.
Predictably Gavin changed “Ferdinand”’s name to “Dipshit” and also made ample use of the test-button. Only when Hank came ‘round the corner, shouting for the “stupid, useless sardine tin”, did the duo revert the voice change. Gavin also typed something new into the name box that Tina could not see.
The android no longer going by “Connor” didn’t come to light anytime soon, because Hank had a rich pool of casual insults for it that could be used instead of an individual name.
Until RK800 found itself on the lower deck of the freighter “Jericho”, facing the deviant leader…
Markus slowly turned around when he heard footsteps approach. He beheld the RK800 in its disguise and heard it say in its upbeat voice: “I am Your Daddy. Submit and follow me!”
“Is that a joke?!” Markus sputtered.
“No, this is very serious. I am Your Daddy, the android sent by Cyberlife…”
“That’s, uh, nice of Cyberlife. Yes, I really appreciate the gesture…”
This is probably meant as a distraction technique to throw me off? the deviant leader wondered. Out loud he said: “I’m an off-brand imitator product though. Not from Cyberlife.”
“I was instructed to bring you alive!” Connor chirped.
Markus hesitated. “By the person who named you?” he asked very carefully.
“No.”
“Ah, good!” Markus said with visible relief. “Well, maybe you and me can come to an understanding of a less… sensual nature?”
Ten minutes later Markus introduced the RK800 to his friends:
“Hey, guys, this here is a new recruit. New one – meet North! North – meet Your Daddy!”
And that was the last thing Markus said for quite some time, because North punched him so hard that he temporarily shut down.
Back in the present the captured deviants were still squabbling amongst each other, despite standing  with their hands behind their heads and lined up for transport to the recycling yards.
“That’s not fair!” an android wearing the old Cyberlife standard face protested, at which Perkins snapped “Shut up, tin can!“, but the blonde android retorted that he hadn’t been talking to the human, but to North.
“It really wasn’t fair of you”, the android addressed North. “Yes, you and Markus have been drifting apart and I admit in part this happened because of me, but even though your couple thing wouldn’t work out, he always had you in his mind. It was so kind of Markus to find you a new boyfriend, but what did you do? Punch him!”
This one, Perkins concluded, must be a BL100, a “perfect partner”. Even after deviating and  in the face of getting scrapped it was still obsessing about relationships. Oh, well, that would be Cyberlife’s problem in a few minutes, no longer his.
“Okay, that should wrap tonight’s operation up”, Perkins nodded. “Connor, was it?”
“Ah, no, actually I am Your Worst Nightmare Motherfucker… what the hell? Oh, no, they must be playing with the app again! I’m sorry, I…”
“You aren’t my worst nightmare, then?” Perkins sneered.
Already the man’s fingers were twitching, ready to draw his service pistol at this unpredictable prototype. It had served its purpose, after all.
“Then enlighten me, who or what are you?”
RK800 opened its mouth the exact same moment Gavin and Tina at the DPD were cracking up over another idea for a cool name that had just occurred to them. “I am A Deviant”, he said. “What? No I’m not! I am C… R… A Deviant! A Deviant! Oh, shit…”
There was no time to explain, because Perkins had already hissed “Should have known!” and opened fire. Simon, Josh, North and A Deviant dived for cover, dragging the unconscious Markus with them.
And the rest is history.

Level 19
It had only been a week, but something told you, you had made a grave miscalculation with these people. You could deal with dark personalities; you worked at a hospital. Not everything was sunshine and rainbows all the time, thank god for that, but these guys took things to a whole new level.
Apart from one of them being the worst troll you’d ever seen. The other two spent the entire game trying to dismantle other teams to get ahead of the curve, instead of just playing the game. It was so frustrating; you groaned when your screen lit up in the corner, letting you know the group chat was active.
Hiding_In_plain_sight44 → This one will be for all the marbles. Hiding_In_plain_sight44 → I talked one of those pretty shop keepers into telling me what group our enemies are fighting in. M@dMonks → Wonderful work, now those egotistical madmen will get their just desserts. WhiteBeardless0589 → I don’t care what event raid we’re in so long as I get to mess up someone’s k/d ratio. Do I even want to know who you’re talking about? ← WildCyt0m3try M@dMonks → it’s nothing, you’ve joined at just the right time. Oh? ← WildCyt0m3try Why does that make me nervous? ← WildCyt0m3try WhiteBeardless0589 → Good instincts kid Gdi! Seriously, wtf are you planning now? ← WildCyt0m3try I refuse to participate if you’re just going to terrorize a bunch of pre-teens again… ← WildCyt0m3try Hiding_In_plain_sight44 → We’re going after a few old rivals. That’s all. Again, why do I feel like that’s “not all?” Huh? ← WildCyt0m3try WhiteBeardless0589 → It’s just those morons from Team’s Kasugayama and Azuchi. WhiteBeardless0589 → They need to be taken down a peg or two anyway. M@dMonks → Exactly, teams like that just prey on the weak with no consideration for other players. M@dMonks → We’re going to get ourselves into their tournament group, and you’re going to help us obliterate them Me? Obliterate? You can’t be serious… ← WildCyt0m3try Hiding_In_plain_sight44 → We know you used to be on both their teams, it’s perfect. You’d know all their fighting styles. No, I don’t. Besides, what if they’ve changed things around in the past two months? ← WildCyt0m3try M@dMonks → They wont. They’re not that smart. You’ve clearly never played with any of them… ← WildCyt0m3try Hiding_In_plain_sight44 → If it makes you feel better, I used to play with Team Azuchi. You wouldn’t be the only double-crosser. No, you can leave me out of this ← WildCyt0m3try
Why, why did you always end up playing video games with such ridiculous people. Your frustration began to show through when they, namely M@dMonks, began to argue and threaten you. That was a hard no, in less than two minutes you left the group and headed towards the single-player portal, only to be stopped mid-walk.
Your old teammates surrounded you, M@dMonks stood in front of the group as the rest of the team blocked you from leaving the lobby. Were they going to try and keep you from leaving? What was the point of that? It wasn’t until four Assassin class members lunged at you that you figured it out. They were going to try to take you out and loot your bag. Oh hell no.
The simple solution would have been to save and just log out, but because you were embroiled in the middle of a fight, the system’s menu was locked. Assholes. You did what you could to dodge and deflect, but it became quite clear they weren’t going to let you go.
“If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’re gonna get. You pissed off the wrong chick.” You growled openly into your mic, drawing the attention of others in the multiplayer lobby.
By the time you had cut down most of your old team, a crowd had gathered. Why wouldn’t they, though? A single lance wielding unit, ambushed by a large group of assassins headed up by a Dark Bishop and a War Master. That was definitely a spectacle. It was going okay, you still had a few more swings, and from what you knew of M@dMonks and WhiteBeardless0589’s stats, it should be enough to get you out of this situation.
What you hadn’t taken into account was Hiding_ In_plain_sight44’s theft ability. Had you really let him take all of your lances but the one you were using? Your grip on your controller tightened as your grit your teeth. That left you with a very dinky training lance and a bow, damn. You were so over this, wanting nothing more than to be done with all of these overly dramatic boys you unequipped your weapon. Bracing for the next few hits and the deep cut into your pocket, but it never came. Instead, a fire spell lit up the screan, hitting M@dMonks square in the chest.
“You really should be more careful with who you associate with.”
“That’s pretty rich coming from you.” Your voice was flat, as you responded.
“You also agreed to meet, remember?” Yoshimoto snickered as he dealt magic damage to the rest of your assailants.
“How could I forget? You and my coworker bickered the entire walk to the store.” You verbally poked back at him.
“Give me three minutes. You just want to log out, right?” Yoshimoto’s voice was serious but remained light.
“Yes, I’m so over people.” You groaned into your mic.
True to his word, after two minutes and fifty-six seconds, the battle had been completed, and your menu was unlocked. The both of you may or may not have stopped to loot the paralyzed avatars of your previous teammates turned assailants before heading into a private lobby. Any eye for an eye, served them right. Besides, you only grabbed what they took from you.
“So, what was that about? Any specific reason you were a target of the world’s largest assassin guild?” You could hear the smirk on Yoshimoto’s face as he asked.
“If you’re just going to patronize me, I’m going to leave.” You sighed.
“I would never, so tell me what happened.” Even though his voice was jovial, you could hear the concern.
“I played single-player for a while. Beat the story mode, did a few group missions here and there with some friends and some rando’s.” You paused, thinking about the past month or so. “One of those randoms invited me to join his team.”
“Oh, and who was said Random if I may ask.” Yoshimoto did nothing to hide the amusement in his voice.
“Hiding in plain sight, forty-four.” You sighed, knowing exactly what Yoshi was about to say. “You don’t have to say anything, I already know.”
“If you already knew why did you join that team?” Yoshimoto asked.
“I didn’t know when I said I would join; I just found out today.” You sighed, over the whole ordeal already. “Yanno, right as they jumped me?”
“Ah, I see. Always getting yourself into the oddest predicaments, aren’t you?”  Yoshimoto laughed as he continued to question you.
“So it would seem. Anyways, thanks for the help. I appreciate it.” You said gratefully, quickly sending him a tiny bag of goodies you knew he could use to fuse more spells.
“I don’t need any of this.” He responded.
“At least let me do something to say thank you.” You tried.
“Dinner?”
The line was quiet for a little bit, had he just asked you to go back out together? Maybe Rose had been, right? Well sort of right, perhaps that night at the gallery was supposed to have been a date. A date with Yoshi.
“Or not, that’s fine too. I’ll just take these and-”
“Sure.” You interrupted him. “I could use some time to hang out with friends again.”
“Great. I’ll message you then?” Either he didn’t mind that you emphasized the word friends or he didn’t catch it, because his response was completely even.
“Deal! Thanks again for the help.” You chirped, making quick work of ending the conversation and logging out.
This would be interesting.

kevin x you, soulmate au, friends to lovers au, fluff
[summary] it’s a matter of realizing that kevin may be your soulmate (soulmate au where whatever you draw appears on your soulmate’s skin) [words] 2.1k [a/n] i had butterflies in my stomach when i wrote this,,,, (cues changmin’s nope kevin!!!)
Tumblr media
You and Kevin were having a random movie night. It was always the thing to go to when you both were done with your day and just wanted to chill. Crashing over his place was the usual too, though you’d always tell him that you wouldn’t when he replied with a sarcastic smirk.
“I swear, today’s really not the day.” You explained, knowing that your place was only a few blocks away from his. It’s not like he had complained about it too, not that you would crash again.
“Sure.” He was smiling and he didn’t catch your glare when he turned away and headed toward the couch. He turned back at you and waved you to come over. “Come on, let’s watch this movie.”
He didn’t sit on the couch and instead, he sat on the floor with his back leaning onto the bottom part of the couch. You did the same when you sat beside him. You curled your legs and fixed your back until you became comfortable. Kevin didn’t know why he laughed at you but he turned back to the TV and offered some popcorn, throwing one at you if you wanted some. You glared at him, who was still smiling as you harshly grabbed the popcorn off your shirt and ate it.
It was unusually quiet throughout the movie and it was making Kevin nervous for some reason but once he looked at you, his heart softened. He noticed you had fallen asleep with your head hanging at the cushion of the couch. He couldn’t help to softly smiled, knowing how much you needed a nap by the look of your small dark circles. He turned back to the screen, letting you sleep until the movie ends so he could complain about how much you missed.
A few seconds later with Kevin falling back into the movie, your head suddenly moved, rolling over to his shoulder where he flinched at the touchy weight. He held onto his breath, waiting to see if you were awake. When you didn’t move at all, he slowly turned to you.
His eyes suddenly gazed at your features, noticing your soft lips, cute nose, your flashing eyelashes and your rosy cheeks, not intimidated at how close the proximity your faces were. He questioned himself, wondering how lovely you looked when you’re not throwing a point at him. He was kidding, but he never noticed how beautiful you look when you’re sleeping soundly. If he was to be honest at this moment, he thought he could be in love with you.
Kevin’s been hiding it for a while after you started to crash over when he moved to this new place from a few weeks ago. He didn’t remember how he started to fall for you but he recalled the one and only time where you both had talked about soulmates. It felt weird because you were talking about how two of your friends were soulmates and you concluded with “Who knows. Our soulmates might be closer than we know.”
After that, he began to believe that if he was falling for you then you must really be his soulmate. The only problem was that none of his drawings had ever appeared on your skin.
The idea of soulmates didn’t come through him when Kevin moved closer to you, his lips only inches from yours as he couldn’t stop staring at how pink your lips were. That was when you took a quiet sigh, making his eyes widened a bit.
He didn’t move back when you opened your eyes, realizing that you had fallen asleep. You got off his shoulder and rubbed your eyes before you looked at him, his surprised expression blurry to you.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” Your eyes were still itchy when you asked.
Kevin was holding his breath again as he couldn’t come up with an answer. His head twisted and his face became small with his lips in an amused shape when he whispered, “Because I love you?”
“What?” Your ears felt stuffy from the drowsiness as you got up to rest on the couch. You forgot his words, thinking he got it from the movie as you tiredly replied, “Sorry, I’m gonna crash again. Good night.”
Kevin took a deep breath and slapped himself on the face, not knowing why he said that. Though he meant it, he hoped you wouldn’t notice because his face would be so red and you knew that meant he really mean it.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you kept hearing someone saying they love you in your dream. You couldn’t recognize the voice as you began to repeat the words back, then your head twitched, waking you up from your lucid dream.
Your eyes slowly opened, realizing you were still at Kevin’s place. You heard him making noises in the bathroom, wishing he would stop singing so you could sleep some more. Instead, you got up quickly, resting your hand on the back cushion of the couch as you stared at the bathroom door. You were ready to shout at him but the drawings on your wrist caught you attention instead.
You squinted closely, tracing your finger at the shape before Kevin came out, drying his hair with a towel. He almost jumped when he saw how messy your hair was. He covered his giggling mouth then he pointed at you.
“Can you stop drawing on me when I’m sleeping?” You defeated him from his words, showing him the marks on your wrist. You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms. “I don’t want to wake up with some fake sushi on me.”
“I did not do that.” Kevin claimed, his hand reached out to you to make his point as his face seemed more flustered than ever. You gave him the most astonished look before he took his hand back, his fingers tapping his lips. “I mean, I did but not on you but like, not also-”
“Okay, okay.” You shook your head at his fast stuttering words as he just paused there. You crossed your arms then you suggested, “Then you should buy some.”
He eyed at you with his eyebrows furrowing, his head turning slightly. “But I didn’t do it?”
“But you want some too?” You showed him your wrist again then he giggled awkwardly, nodding before you smirked. When you got up and walked into the bathroom, passing him, he was holding his breath again.
Kevin’s face was becoming red and his heart was racing. His hand rested over his shirt to hold the overwhelming feeling. He turned around at your direction as his eyes widened. There was only thought he had at that moment. You must be his soulmate.
Tumblr media
A few days later, you were doing some work on his dining table while he was washing the dishes. You both had just finished a nice dinner together and you hadn’t noticed how much he tried to not make himself blush out of nowhere. He was glad that you hadn’t caught him.
You looked up from your papers with your twisted lips, hoping that he would finish soon so you both could chill. Maybe with another movie. You both haven’t had one since that night you crashed. You sighed, looking back at your boring work. Maybe doodling could pass time quickly, you thought, then you drew on your notes as they began to magically appear on the back of Kevin’s neck.
After a minute, you got bored again. You set your pen down and walked pass him to the fridge to grab a bottle of juice. You opened it, taking a huge gulp before closing it. You set it on the side, seeing Kevin’s smirk. When he turned away, you noticed some marks on his skin. They looked familiar as you took a step closer to him.
“How did it get here?” You asked, almost whispering to yourself. Your fingertips tickled him as he looked behind, seeing how close you were. He almost jumped, his eyes looking around, flustered when your eyes didn’t leave his neck.
“W-what? What are you doing?” Kevin asked, his voice at the sound of embarrassment before your eyes widened.
“Oh no.” You quickly ran away from him, leaving out of the doorsteps before Kevin could say anything.
As confused as he was, he turned off the water and sighed. He took off his apron and set it on a chair before he touched his neck, slipping his hand at the place you touched a few times. There wasn’t any mark on his mark as he twisted his head.
He headed to the bathroom in a rush, taking out his phone and opened the camera at selfie mode. He turned around so his back was facing the mirror then his eyes widened at the marks behind his neck.
He wondered why you ran away so quickly then he remembered seeing your work on the table. He headed there, seeing the same drawings on your notebook.
His heart was racing again. Slowly, he took out his phone, sending a text about where you were. When you replied that you were at the playground nearby, he came to you.
His steps were awkward yet a little jumpy with a pinch of shyness. He was smiling and you could only blush as you barely pushed yourself on the swings. Kevin took the seat next to you, his jump making him swing more than you.
“Why are you smiling like that?” You asked, turning away so he couldn’t see your rosy cheeks.
“Because I found you.”
“Stop, seriously Kevin.” You tried not to laugh through your trembling voice. Instead, he giggled at you then he tilted his head with that same smile.
“Why? Tell me why you ran away like that.” His voice sounded teasy and you couldn’t glare at him. You sighed and looked at your feet where the tips were hidden under the sand.
“I think you’re my soulmate.” You confessed after a few seconds of silence.
“I think you’re mine too.” You turned to Kevin, who was waiting for you say that. He was smiling and you could see the stars twinkling in his eyes. He leaned his head more as he explained. “I mean, it’s been a while for me. I realized I was beginning to like you then bam!, one of my drawings appeared on your skin. You know, the sushi one?”
“No way.” Your shocked voice made Kevin giggle. You blushed at the sweet sound then you turned away.
“Yes way.” He nodded then he looked up at the stars that smiled with him. “I don’t know if you remember the night I said I love you. When I did, I felt like you were mine.”
Your eyes met his when he looked away from the stars. Slowly, he reached over and took your hand, holding them so softly. You felt a spark at the first touch and it made your heart race as you looked at your locked hands.
“But I can confirm that you’re my soulmate now too.” Kevin lips resembled the moon that night and he knew you accepted him when you smiled, wrapping your fingers tighter in his hand. You looked away with your red face before you choked a giggle, seeing some marks on your wrist.
“What is this?” You asked, pulling his hand with yours so he could see the drawings he might had made before coming to you. Kevin was smiling when you looked at him with your amazed eyes. The creases on his cheeks made you stop and stare.
“Just wanted to make sure.” He shrugged before you leaned closer to him with your wrinkled nose.
“I can’t believe you.” You laughed then he pulled you off your seat and his other hand held onto your waist as he pulled you onto his lap. You knew how red your face was when your faces were closer as ever.
“You can believe me.” Kevin was smirking before he held onto your hand tightly and crashed his lips with yours like he was meaning to a long time ago. No matter how flustered you were, your hand found their way to his cheek with your fingers tickling him again.
Even though he had already explained it, you realized that yes, he really said he loves you and if kissing him back meant the same, you didn’t mind messing with him when you giggled in the middle of the session.

Yumeiro Cast Dream Show 2017 event report!
In my short time in Japan I’ve attended quite a few concerts and seiyuu events, and this concert is honestly one of the best that I’ve experienced. I know this blog is mostly for QUELL, but I don’t have anywhere else to share this from... Feel free to scroll past if this isn’t for you.
I’ll also be rambling a lot about Hatanaka Tasuku and Hayashi Yuu ;w;
I recall regretting applying for tickets at some point, because having to travel from Kyoto to Tokyo (or rather, Chiba, since the venue was Makuhari Messe) just for the concert was a huge pain, and very expensive. Boy, am I glad I did though. To begin with, getting tickets to ANY popular event is a tough process. You have to enter a draw to have a shot at getting a ticket, and if you miss out on that, you’ll have to buy the tickets when they go on sale later, and they usually sell out in under ten seconds. I’m not kidding. I’ve experienced this pain. On multiple occasions. Anyway, the first draw was opened to players only (the URL link was a banner in the game’s home screen), which is a really nice gesture. I managed to get a ticket in this draw :)
I arrived at the venue about 30 minutes before the show and bypassed the merchandise corner, as the queue looked scary and I didn’t have much time. Jumped in the queue to take a photograph of the standees (pictured above; and yes, there was a queue for this too), which took about 15 minutes, and then rushed over to join a queue for one of the bathrooms (all of them had long queues /pukes blood). I started chatting with a lady in a cute dress in line behind me and found out that we both have Kaito as our fav (plus Subaru for me). She was happy to find another Kaito fan and whipped out a couple of beautifully packaged small prints from her bag and handed them to me *_* Turns out she’s an artists and draws a lot of Kaito!! I was so surprised but flattered and felt bad about not having anything on hand to give her in return... I just gave her the kiwi bird badge from my backpack that I picked up while traveling in New Zealand, sweats...
Minutes till starting time and we were still caught in the queue, though getting very close to the bathroom. We debated giving up and leaving to find our seats so we wouldn’t miss the opening act, but decided to stay since having to leave halfway through the show for the bathroom would be worse. A few minutes later we heard screams coming from the arena and thought that the show had started, but the girl behind us assured us that they were just playing some promotional videos on the big screen and that nothing was happening on stage. We passed the message on to the group of girls in front of us as we heard them fretting about the same thing. Community spirit!
I parted ways with my new friend after leaving the bathroom and went to find my seat; inside the arena the lights had already been dimmed and clearly something was about to start. I was still stumbling around in the dark when all seven members of Yumeiro Company burst onto stage to the tune of CALL HEAVEN!! and by the time I found my spot they were probably halfway through the song;;;;
My seat was on the third floor, but quite close to the left side of the stage, so in a way it was a good spot as I could just barely make out the faces of the performers standing on my side of the stage. Their formation, from right to left: Subaru, Kaito, Sousei, Kyouya, Hinata, Iori, and Jin. I was still shaky from scrambling to find my seat and honestly don’t remember much, but I know that they were all dressed sharply in formal suits, and that the chorus had a dance routine that was fun and cheerful, fitting of a musical show. As we all know, the cast of YumeCast has a lot of strong singers, so I could relax and appreciate the vocals. I managed to find my pen light too and was ready to finally join the party :3
After the opening act I thought they would break for an introductory talk, but they launched straight into the next song. Everyone except Kyoya left the stage as the intro for Kyoya’s solo, Kimi ni Chikatta Monogatari started playing, and we all scrambled to change our pen lights to pink. Tbh I think Ohsaka Ryota’s one of the less experienced singers in the group, but I was pleasantly surprised by his solid performance. He definitely leveled up a lot since the start of YumeCast, and each of his graceful, princely gestures was very much Kyoya.
Hinata jumped onto stage next to perform Glass no Shoes ha Niawanai (I should mention that these solos were game-sized length and played back to back like a medley). We all melted at how cute he was, and he even slipped in a few lines directed at “oneesan! ;)” *Audience screams and dies* Uemura Yuuto’s usually a good singer but he went off-pitch a few times, probably due to nerves...
Iori was next with Tsumetai Yozora wo Terasu no ha. This is the third time I’ve seen Hanae Natsuki live, and you can tell he’s a seasoned performer by how comfortable he is on stage, and how his vocals are always clear and steady. His lines as Iori made a lot of people in the audience scream, but honestly whenever I see Hanae his joker character is all I register and I couldn’t really appreciate Iori LOL.
Kaito appeared on stage, rocking along to PASSION LASER BEAM, and this is where I died. Hayashi Yuu is phenomenal to watch live, he’s arguably one of the best singers of the group and is amazing at working the crowd, which isn’t surprising considering he’s the vocalist of Screen Mode. Hayashu brought a living, breathing Kaito onto stage in all his haughty glory T_____T It’s my dream to one day catch Screen Mode live as well...
Jin’s Kokoro no (ry was up next. I have to admit that I’m not a fan of Jin’s singing, I think it forces Ono Yuuki to fake a lower register which stifles his singing and it sounds unnatural, which is a shame when Onoyuu has such a lovely smooth voice. Onoyuu kept his fooling around to a minimum at this point, but he couldn’t stop his sunny trademark grin ww
SUBARU! WITH BACKDANCERS!!! Performing You & Me... de, Wave!!! If I had to pick a fav moment in the show, this would be it. Hatanaka Tasuku is SUCH a skilled singer, there’s so much energy in his voice, and his solo even included an intense dance routine which was amazing to watch. This is my fav solo charasong from YumeCast and Subaru completely smashed it... I’m buying the DVD later so I can watch it again ;____; I was so blown-away by the performance that I didn’t even notice what he was wearing >< I also noticed that one of the security staff near my block, who, up till then, was doing a good job of checking on the audience, couldn’t help but look at the stage once Subaru started singing. He watched up till the 2nd chorus lol before turning back to his job.
[OOT: This is my second time meeting Tasuku and each time I see him I feel like a proud mother watching her son grow by leaps and bounds >< The first time I met him was at the 5th fan meeting for Nariyuki Night, hosted by Tasuku and Yonaga Tsubasa. It was a small, cosy event of maybe 200 people, and it blew my mind that we got to see them at such a close distance. The coolest part was that they implemented a bunch of interactive activities to get the audience involved, one of which was a game where they had to guess an item based on clues shown on screen and borrow it from the audience.... Which meant that they had to run up and down the aisles of the seats, and at one point Yonaga grabbed a girl’s hand and escorted her down to the stage *_* Tasuku came by my seat and stopped to think about clues, so I literally had him standing next to me for like half a minute ahjghadllkjad. Also they were dressed in school uniform as one of the many suggestions for the “summer theme”; Yonaga in a beige vest, short sleeves, and colourful hairclips in his hair (he really looked like Nagisa from Free!), and Tasuku with a loose red tie and long shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Cute af. Prior to that I’d only seen Tasuku on livestreams and heard him on radio, and I’m glad to report that he’s every bit as earnest and clumsy in person as he is on air, like an awkward oversized puppy still learning how to walk but excited for someone to throw him a ball ;w;]
The last solo was Sousei’s Dare mo ga Ashi(ry. I was looking forward to this as I’ve been a fan of Toyonaga Toshiyuki since his Tenimyu days, and I love his singing voice. He wasn’t as smooth as in the recorded version, but still a delight to hear live.
Without giving us time to catch our breath, the show moved on to the next song. Hinata appeared on stage in a dark suit and a cape, accompanied by dancers dressed in ghoulish outfits. It was Mysterious Mission! This was a super fun song with a cute zombie dance, and at one point Hinata was hoisted up onto the shoulders of the backdancers in a sort of ALL HAIL YOUR CUTE MONSTER LORD routine. An oh, all the songs from this point on were performed in full :3
Next, Subaru and Jin appeared in santa outfits for Holy Melody Night. This is probably one of my least favourite songs in YumeCast, imo it’s the wrong key for both singers and doesn’t really showcase their voices. They were both so cute on stage though! Running from one end of the stage to the other and waving at us with huge smiles. The concert hall was enveloped in a warm, sparkly atmosphere ;w;
Next was the moment I had been waiting for - Kaito’s Kamigami no Senen (still not sure about the reading for the last 2 kanji tbh). I was hoping that this song would be included in the set list T_______T Kaito caused a stir when he appeared on the stage at the back of the arena, which I wasn’t even aware of. Dressed in graceful white robes and enveloped in mist, he was so beautiful to watch, I forgot to breathe... This song is a Big Deal for me because it’s an unseen side of both Kaito and Hayashu; before Kamigami neither have ever performed with such delicate vocals afaik. Even Screen Mode’s ballads have a completely different feel. When the song ended, the audience quietly broke into applause, instead of the cheering or screaming that happened with other songs...
Kyoya appeared back on the main stage with Sand Mirage, dressed in an Arabian Nights-esque costume and matching dancers. I’m very fond of this song, it’s so catchy and seems to fit Kyoya’s vocal range the most! And it definitely showed off his singing skills. Beautiful vibrato on the notes at the end of the chorus ;3;
Sousei and Iori gracefully descended upon the second stage in butler outfits. The yandere Tapestry song! They started off with a short skit, probably lines from the musical, and when Hanae fumbled one of his lines Tosshi teased him about it ww This is one of my favourite duets but sadly the vocals were rather shaky, with both singing off-key at many instances. A+ for the skit, the bedroom lines directed at “ojousama”, and Sousei’s psychotic laugh at the end.
I should love Final Approach since it features my two favs Subaru and Kaito, but unfortunately it’s one of the most boring songs for me... It didn’t stop me from appreciating the singing though. And the beautiful harmonies in the chorus. And the two boys in pilot outfits. And the high-five halfway through the song!! This was also the moment I understood the reason why some people bring two or more pen lights as I couldn’t decide whose colour to use...
Jin and Kyoya rose up from platforms under the stage in shinsengumi robes for Hi ha Noboru(ry. The katanas holstered on their hips were drawn for a fight scene vs the back dancers! The stage was bathed in violet and blue to match the moody atmosphere.
Then Iori and Kaito hopped onto stage and we all bobbed along to Sekai ha Koi to SWEETS! AND! KISS! *waves pen light frantically* This is such a cute song and both Iori and Kaito were super cute, throwing saccharine lines at the audience and getting everyone to join in the fun ;w; Iirc both of them even threw us some flying kisses....
Next, Stronger Than Medicine with Hina and Sousei. In white doctor’s coats and supported by a big group of dancers, Hina played the experienced head doctor while Sousei tagged along like a clueless junior lol. Parts of the dance were very cute and funny for comedic effect, and though for the most part it wasn’t an intense dance routine Tosshi still managed to show off his dancer background >< I kinda wished that we got to see him dance in a more high-tempo song, but Sousei gets all the ballads...
Around this time I noticed that a group of staff were busy setting up some sort of elevated platform-trolley thing at the end of the corridor between the 2nd and 3rd floor; I’d seen something similar happen at the Yuri on Stage event and my heartbeat jumped as I guessed what would happen next...
When the lights turned back on, the rest of the crew had joined Hina and Sousei on stage, and everyone was in their blue and white sailor outifts for Sunshine World Tour! This was the FIRST break in the show, can you believe it? The cast FINALLY introduced themselves (still in-character), and then Sousei announced that the show was about to come to and end, which came as a surprise because it honestly didn’t feel like the show started that long ago, even though we had actually sat through a LOT of songs. The audience began to whine “Ehhhhhhh?” Then the music for Sunshine World Tour started and the cast split into 2 groups, making the audience scream when they headed into the crowd, climbed up the stairs to the 3rd floor, and boarded one of the two trolleys on either end of the corridor. The audience went crazy when they realised what was happening! On the trolley that started from my end of the hall were Kyoya, Jin-san, and Hina, singing and waving enthusiastically at the audience as they traveled around the U-shaped concert hall. I couldn’t believe my eyes when they passed right in front of me... From my seat in the 2nd row they were SO CLOSE, and even at eye level! I honestly could’ve hi-fived them if I stretched out my arm. When the 2nd trolley came by I had my pen light set to orange and hoped Kaito would wave at me, but he was busy engaging the upper floors. Iori met my eyes though and gave me the sweetest smile ;w; They were meant to sing Sunshine World Tour, but very little singing was done as everyone was busy greeting and waving at the audience wwwwwwww It was a real treat for everyone on the 2nd and 3rd floors...
After the trolleys reached the opposite ends of the hall, the cast made their way back to the main stage and we were asked to sing along to the the chorus for a while as lyrics popped up on the screen :D After the song ended, the cast said their thanks and waved goodbye before disappearing backstage. The lights dimmed again and the audience began to chant “Encore~! Encore~!”
We were probably in the dark for about 5 minutes before the cast came back onto stage, dressed in Dream Show 2017 t-shirts. The cast could finally introduce themselves lol. “We can finally speak! As ourselves!!” “It is okay? Can I really start talking? OKAY I’M DOING IT :DDD” Onoyu let loose and chaos descended upon the stage wwwwww There was no outline for this talk segment so they pretty much did whatever they wanted www
What I can recall, in dot points:
Thanked us for all the love and support which allowed YumeCast to reach it’s 2nd anniversary
Ohsaka was super nervous as it’s his first concert, and Tosshi said that he kept muttering “I’m so nervous” up till the moment before their first appearance on stage, yet once he stepped onto stage he slipped right into character and looked so calm and confident
Tosshi and Onoyu admitted that they sing with their faces (their facial expressions are “noisy”)
Tosshi praised Ohsaka for bringing the rowdy team together like a real Kyoya, and Ohsaka lamented the fact that nobody listens to him while the rest of the team surrounded him and danced and hooted like gorillas www
Tosshi thanked the crew and staff for all their hard work behind the scenes, from dance choreography to costumes. Staff were always on standby backstage, ready to help them change into their next outfits, and as he watched the staff work frantically to keep the show running he truly felt like he was part of a real life Yumeiro Company troupe.
Up till the last rehearsal, Hayashu got one of the hand gestures for CALL HEAVEN!! wrong (he made a fox shape instead of a “W” for “welcome”)
Tasuku and Yuuto put in a lot of practice for their dances. Yuuto practiced his zombie shuffle even while out walking in public and got stared at. “My favourite part of the dance is when they lift me up! :D”
Hanae said it was unfair that Hinata could capture everyone’s hearts just with his “Onee~san♥”, so someone suggested everyone do their own version of “oneesan“ and put them to a vote.
Tasuku was up first... and promptly tripped over his first line, in typical Tasuku fashion wwwww I love him, he’s so clumsy and uncoordinated ;3; They gave him a second chance and this time he said something along the lines of “Thank you for your support this past two years!” and ended on a very cute and energetic “oneesan!!!!” Ughhh PUPPYYYYY
Kaito’s embarrassed tsundere “O.. onee...san...”
Sousei’s calm, somewhat sly “Oneesan :)”
The audience cracked up at Kyoya’s “Oneesan, jiken desu.” (Oneesan, there’s been an accident.) I had to look this up but it’s apparently a famous line from an old TV drama called HOTEL, lol
Kyoya’s take 2. A heartfelt message to all the scriptwriters in the audience, followed by the sweetest “...oneesan”.
Hanae did a skit where Iori was surprised but ecstatic about receiving a present from the MC in the form of a limited edition shoebill merch. “Thank you, oneesan!!”
Zun-san..... was Zun-san. “How about we spend the night together? My one and only oneesan♥”
Finally, the last boss. Hinata started to speak in that saccharine-sweet voice, “Boku,” and already half of the audience were screaming from that first word... “I’ll keep on working hard, so keep your eyes on me, okay? Oneesan♥“ *dying whale sounds from audience*
“Why did we even have this competition, we already knew who the winner would be.”
“You had them at “Boku”...”
Tosshi pointed out that they shouldn’t leave out the handful of guys in the audience, so everyone banded together and yelled “Thank you, oniisan!” and the guys responded with “Yeaaaaaaah!!!” haha
Farewell messages, final thoughts, and thank you’s
Ohsaka admitted that in his first year of playing Kyoya he had regrets about accepting the role, but after some time he found ways to connect with Kyoya and he’s very happy to be part of YumeCast. (I had a feeling that he wasn’t enjoying himself when I watched him on YumeCast livestream... turns out my hunch was correct :0 I’m glad that he’s found his place now!)
Next they showed a video announcing upcoming projects (live action musicals, new CD’s, drama CD’s) and the release of the DVD/BD of Dream Show 2017. Everyone else perched on the staircase to watch the video but Tasuku made himself small and sat on the floor with his knees folded primly. Smol puppy....
Lastly, the crew performed NEVER END STORIES as confetti cannons shot glitter over the arena. Then the dancers joined the cast on stage for the final farewell. Everyone took their turn bowing and saying thanks. Kyoya was last to leave the stage, and he lingered for a few moments to thank the audience. Sousei, who was near Kyoya, came up to him and said “Kyoya, let’s go :)” and Kyoya nodded before retreating from the stage. *Audience dies again*
After the show, I remember feeling so happy and satisfied. Of course, every event I’ve attended has been fun, but none of them made me feel as loved and appreciated as YumeCast Dream Show 2017. They knew what we wanted, and they delivered. I rate it 10/10 for being jam-packed with content (honestly, nobody expected them to perform this many songs), and it was very impressive that every song had its own set of costumes and choreography. It really felt like watching a musical show. The concert felt like it ended too soon because everything moved so quickly, but it had actually run for just over 2 hours. I do wish that they had given the cast more talk time, but i guess that was sacrificed to make space for more songs. I can live with that.
I’ve been playing YumeCast for almost a year now and have considered quitting several times since the gameplay gets pretty repetitive after a while (plus new games coming into my life), but after this concert I have fallen in love all over again and will continue to support YumeCast ;3; Honestly, just from watching the monthly livestreams you can tell how hard they try to keep us happy.
