Miscellaneous Jackson/Holt headcanons because I have them brainrot and I know these boys better than the MH execs actually. Below the cut :3
-My biggest and fave headcanon!! Jackson is actually Hyde's kid, and Holt is Jekyll's. Let me explain. In the original book (which I've read dozens of times, i have a problem), Jekyll is sociable, gets along well with most others, and is a popular figure in society. Hyde, meanwhile, is more of a recluse, sometimes disappearing for months at a time, and tends to shy away from the limelight. Hm. Now who between Jackson and Holt seems like the more social one? Now Nix, I hear you cry, what about Jackson's mad scientist element? That's a Jekyll thing. Yes, BUT. Social awareness tends to be more of an ingrained thing, something someone is either good at or not that good at. Science, on the other hand, is a skill, an interest. Something that can be changed or decided. Since most people assumed Jackson was Jekyll's kid, hell, they share a last name, I like to think Jackson was like yea, ok. Guess I should be good at science and he ended up really liking it. This is mostly just my 4 year Jekyll and Hyde hyperfixation talking, but feel free to talk w me about this!!
-Again pulling from the original J&H, Jackson and Holt can replicate each others' handwriting perfectly. Holt can, has, and will use this for mischief.
-Once again pulling from J&H, Jackson is taller than Holt, and Jackson is almost freakishly tall. Jackson is around 6'3" and Holt around 5'4". Holt usually wears platform shoes to make the height difference less noticable, but the difference is still definitely there. This also ties into my sweet sweet Jackson/Holt x Frankie heart, with Jackson being significantly taller than Frankie and Holt being a bit shorter (with Frankie at about 5'7").
-In addition to Crossfade, Jackson has three pet rats that he keeps in his coat pockets. Their names are Plato, Thales, and Socrates.
-Holt can play eight instruments: the guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, trumpet, alto saxophone, violin, and the lyre.
-Thanks to his fire elemental heritage, Jackson can create a small fire at his fingertips. However it takes a decent bit of concentration and it only lasts as long as he can hold his breath. In addition, he can withstand higher temperatures than most humans and, when exhibiting a strong emotion, his body temperature rises to the point that small heat waves can be seen rising from his shoulders.
-If Deuce gets to be besties with Jackson, he gets to be besties with Holt too. They hang out after Holt's shows and at Deuce's job.
-Jackson asked Deuce to stone him once "for science". Deuce refused adamently. Jackson is still trying to get him to agree.
-Due to my own personal backstory for the boys, they live with their dad in the monster world.
-They still hang out with Heath sometimes. Holt more often than Jackson.
-Jackson does all of their schoolwork save for music theory.
-Jackson likes sitting on elevated surfaces. Holt, to one-up Jackson, often sits on even more elevated surfaces. It's not uncommon for him to climb up onto the roof of a car or the top of a dresser.
-He also just likes climbing things.
-Both Jackson and Holt know sign language. Jackson because he's just kind of a nerd, and Holt because he can't really hear when he's out because of the fact he needs loud music to stay out in the first place.
-Jackson would never admit it, but he logs onto Holt's Spotify every now and then to listen to his playlist. They share similar music tastes. And maybe sometimes Jackson adds random songs just to be a little shit, but that's partially why he'd never admit it.
-Okay so maybe I have a 3 and a half hour playlist of songs I think Holt would like. You can't prove anything.
-Holt has only ever turned down an invitation to DJ once. It was for one of Cleo's parties that was shortly after that one Halloween. He still holds a grudge against her, but is willing to hang out with her for the sake of his friends.
-I have a song I associate with each of them the most. Jackson's is Mister Glassman by Scotty Sire and Holt's is Instant Crush by Daft Punk.
-In addition to music being a trigger for switching, another trigger is over/understimulation. If Jackson gets overstimulated, boom, Holt. If Holt gets understimulated, boom, Jackson. It's not as prevalent or common as music though.
-Jax makes dolls of his friends with locks of their actual hair and flakes of skin. His friends find it disgusting. He finds it endearing.
-he's been trying to off Heath with his doll for 4 years.
-Jax is kind of a homicidal maniac,,,,,,,
-While Holt is chill like,, 98% of the time, if he wants to be scary, he is downright TERRIFYING. Picture like,, bright blue flames, unblinking eyes, and a crooked-toothed grin. Enough to make almost anyone piss themselves.
-Holt is really only loud in big social settings. If he's ever one-on-one with someone or all alone, he's almost completely non-verbal. Whether it be social battery or the tism is unknown.
-Jackson, on the other hand, is quiet in big social settings, but will talk someone to death if they're alone with him. Rambling on and on about different chemicals and metals and their interactions with each other.
-That's all! Feel free to add your own hcs in reblogs or notes, I'll probably add on every now and then.

you + percy jackson = best couple ever!!
he is SO whipped for you, it’s insane. you could ask him to be your guinea pig for the new spells you’ve been working on, and percy would immediately agree. he trusts you wholeheartedly and knows you would never intentionally hurt him.
percy loves seeing you use your magic. it’s so alluring to him and if he could, he’d watch you practice all day. when percy sees how passionate you are, your boyfriend thinks he’s fallen in love all over again.
he is your #1 assistant!! whenever you’re working on some sort of spell or potion, percy’s always right there to help. it’s like he can read your mind. somehow your boyfriend always knows what you need because before you can even say it, he’s handing you the next ingredient.
“uh…” you quickly scan your work table while moving various jars and vials, “love, where’s the-”  “the rosemary?” percy asks.  looking at him, you realize that he’s holding the sprigs of rosemary you need, “oh yeah thanks.”  you take the herbs from his hands and strip the leaves into the wooden bowl. percy comes up behind you, he snakes his arms around your waist and rests his head on your shoulder. he’s always intent on watching you work like this.  turning your head, you look at your boyfriend, “percy?”  “hm?”  “how’d you know i needed the rosemary?” you question.  percy shrugs, “just had a feeling.”
you two are constantly messing with people around camp!! with percy’s hydrokinesis and your enhanced ability to control the mist, you guys are enemies to the public.
one time a new camper had the audacity to make an off-putting comment about you to their friend. little did they know, percy was in ear-shot and heard everything. let’s just say, the next few weeks were definitely not fun for them!
your boyfriend was out there making their sinks and toilets explode. (chiron was not happy with the plumbing issues that ensued) you certainly had your fair share of fun, too. you had enchanted their hairbrush to do the opposite of its purpose; it only tangled their hair more instead of untangling it. seeing them around camp with their hair looking like a rats nest had you and percy on the floor.
percy will ALWAYS have your back. especially when people have negative things to say about your mother, he will defend you like no other. he hates the thought of someone judging you solely based on your mother’s choices.
he was not lying when he said his fatal flaw was loyalty!!
“how about me and you, plus the fireworks show tomorrow?” the girl offers.  oh. percy thinks, maybe she doesn’t know it’s normally a couples event? he scratches his head, “uh, like as friends?”  she giggles at his “cluelessness” and playfully pushes him, “no silly! i obviously meant as a couple, duh!”  he takes a step back, “no thanks, i already have a date to the show.”  “well,” she crosses her arms, “ i don’t see her.”  percy points a thumb in your direction. her eyes widen at the sight of you on the training field, summoning multiple mistforms at once.  “whatever. you aren’t even that cute anyways,” she says before frantically walking away.
foraging dates!!
when your supplies run low, you and percy take advantage of it and turn it into a cute little date.
when you two initially became friends, percy asked—practically begged—you to teach him how to control the mist. ever since then, you’ve become his teacher, and you're definitely a proud one!
at least once a month, you two have self-care nights. you’ll mix up a certain tea blend depending on what your guys’ intentions are. it’s one of percy’s favorite traditions that you guys have. you’ll also perform a little protection ritual!! he always has the best sleep on your self-care nights.
star gazing dates!!!!
your guys’ favorite kind of dates when you just need to decompress and relax. laying in percy’s arms while gazing upon the stars is your favorite form of therapy.
you sigh, melting into percy as he holds you tight.  “long day?” he asks, smoothing out the blanket underneath you two.  you nod, “yeah.”  the chirps of crickets and croaks of frogs fill the air. the water below the dock reflects the moon and the stars; you notice they shine particularly bright tonight.   percy interrupts the silence, “do you wanna talk about it?”  “it’s okay,” you say, shaking your head, “i just wanna lay here with you.”  you feel percy pull you in closer, kissing the top of your head.  “okay. i love you y/n, i hope you know that,” he responds.  you tiredly gasp, “no way. you only ever tell me like ten times a day.”  percy chuckles at your sleepy attempt at a joke. a comfortable silence settles between you two.  minutes pass before you break the stillness, “i love you too, percy.”
uncontrollably sobbing. i need a relationship like you two

20 questions for fic writers!
tysm for tagging me @bazzybelle, it took me a while to get around to this but it was a lot of fun!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
37!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
113,598, not bad.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
mostly the Simon Snow Trilogy, but I have a couple of Greek Mythology/Epic Cycle fanfics too. i used to write for Percy Jackson and Marve, but not anymore.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
two old Marvel fics are right at the top, then it’s:
i want the love on your wrist (oh give me the heart on your neck), the first explicit work i’ve ever written, maybe a sign i should write more.
The Tale of the Two Merwolves, which I wrote with a bunch of other lovely people in the fandom
Everything I Am Not, my COTTA fic from 2020
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes, I always try to!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
definitely crimson, my COTTA fic from 2022, but a close second is Visions, a little Trojan War Helenus fic i still really like.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
well a lot of my fics have fairly happy endings, but I’d say All That She Wants, an Agatha-centric fic, and Happier Memories, a proposal fic, have the most hopeful endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no, I don’t think I ever have, luckily!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
only twice so far, though I have another stewing in my brain that might get written. I can’t really say i'm limited to a certain “type” though, i’m pretty versatile, pun intended.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
no, they’re not really my thing.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge! i hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
back when i used to write on wattpad i got some DMs asking to translate my fics and i always agreed, but i don’t know if they ever followed through.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
yes, i really love doing so! I wrote a stucky fic with one of my friends years ago, but we never ended up posting it anywhere. also, the two aforementioned marvel fics were co-written with another (now ex) friend, and the tale of two merwolves was written as part of a group.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
snowbaz, definitely. it’s been my longest-running OTP (do people still say OTP?) and i’ve written so any fics for it.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
hmm, i’ve only got 3 wips and i think i’ll finish them all eventually, but blow on the tinder and we are slaves to the gods are definitely on the back burner for now.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i’ve been told i’m good at writing dialogue, which is good because that’s two thirds of all the words i write.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
descriptions and anything sappy, which gives me second hand embarrassment.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i tend to shy away from it, but if i do i always put it in italics and will put a translation in the notes unless it’s super obvious, and like when other authors do the same.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Percy Jackson! I wrote so much solangelo and was actually pretty popular on wattpad, one of my fics broke a million hits which is still insane to me. i still get the occasional message asking me to come back and finish my fics, but i logged out of that account in 2018 and am not going back.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
oh, that’s hard. i’m really enjoying writing Shoulder To Shoulder right now, but i still love All That She Wants and Liar Liar. i also really love I’m On My Way To Believing, which is a greek mythology Pyrrhus/Hermione fic. they’re my blorbos. but i’d have to say my all-time favourite will always have to be the first carry on fic i ever wrote, which got me out of a years long writing slump: Rats.
i don't know who has already done this, so i'll just tag @ileadacharmedlife @prettygoododds @aroace-genderfluid-sheep @imagineacoolusername @ic3-que3n @forabeatofadrum @aristocratic-otter @larkral @hushed-chorus @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @youarenevertooold @artsyunderstudy @alexalexinii @shrekgogurt and @j-nipper-95

YAY!!! I didn’t do my homework last night and instead cleaned up a oc design!!
So here she is!! she is part of my sge au and more world building!
The Concert Hall
the Sugar Plum Fairy is the ceremonial king or queen of the sugar kingdom along with being the conductor and protector of the concert hall. as conductor they make and maintain the stages as well as conducting special performances
the concert hall is an institution similar to the school in the books.
but instead of the storian it holds the maestro, it controls the concert hall and many smaller stages, halls, and amphitheaters across the land.
the maestro is in its oldest form a oval music box with silver details and two small figures of two girls dancing inside.
the maestro records both art and history, it collects and records any stage play, song, or performance that is performed on any of its stages along with telling history threw any medium on stage. it will then replay or performer an act when requested.
ballet is especially popular in the sugar kingdom due to the nutcracker telling the story of the sugar plum fairy before Alexzander named Antonietta and Clara
while it is possible for sugar plum fairy's to be related its not that common. Antonietta is the mother of Alexzander and she was 8 months pregnant with him during the ballet, she had a extremely difficult pregnancy even before the rat king that completely destroyed all her energy, that's how she got captured.
the Sugar plum fairy is chosen by the maestro 10 years before the currents retirement and crowned the Sugar plum prince, princess, or hair. when chosen they are no younger than 15 and no older than 20
Sugar Plum Princess Anastasia Le Fey!!
(Ooooh fancy text!)
Anastasia is the eldest child of Morgan Le Fey and the current sugar plum fairy Alexzander
she has 8 siblings
Anastasia's full name and title is The Sugar Plum Princess Anastasia Gwendalynn Le Fey-Tchaikovsky III (what a mouthful) but she goes by Nastya
she is 3 days older than Tedros and will never let him forget it when she used to visit camalot as a child.
when visiting camalot her mother would leave her with Tedros and his nanny when messing with Arthur. she also would dress her daughter is simple play clothes instead of the major finery of the sugar kingdoms court. this has the unintended consequence of Tedros not knowing his cousin is a princess and just thinks she live in whatever run down location he thinks Morgan lives is.
i love making Tedros a dumbass
she has a baton that works like a magic wand
very intelligent and great at school but bad with people
her two best friends are the daughter of the queen of hearts and the daughter of the black swan and white swan (yes i'm making them lesbians)
she is close with her aunt Clara
i want more lesbians the nutcracker is a lady and Clara is useless around her, the nutcracker is an idiot and has low self esteem so she was as clueless as Percy Jackson
at first glance she could be a guy but she is defiantly a girl everyone gets it wrong even gods apparently(the maestro)

Top 5 books!
Okay so. Gonna cheat just a lil and give my top 5 books OR series(and my fave book in each series)
In no particular order:
1) The Aubrey-Maturin Series
This should shock no one who follows my tumblr: I have talked about little else for the last five months. These characters invade almost my every waking thought; the few thoughts that aren't about them are about related subjects like Temeraire or Hornblower. Patrick O'Brian's writing style has permanently changed my own. I think probably my favourite book in the series is HMS Surprise. Patrick O'Brian has gotten fully into the swing of things, he knows his characters inside and out. Diana is there. And unlike some of my other favourites, the story in Surprise is self contained - as opposed to Desolation Island/Fortune of War/Surgeon's Mate, which are all the same arc.
2) Dragonriders of Pern
I read these books way, way too young (they are not in any way meant for an eight year old) and they changed my neurochemistry. Dragonriders of Pern is why I loved Eragon, and why I love Temeraire. There is a more age-appropriate series, the Harper Hall books, but that's not all that I read. I think my favourite book in the series is probably Dragon's Dawn, which is the book that explains the sci-fi connection to what starts off as feeling purely fantasy. It does such a good job of explaining how we get to where the series ends up in the first books, and also confirms the Anne McCaffery super-universe is alive and well(if you read any of her sci-fi series, there are always little references to show that they're all in the same universe, though they may be centuries or millennia apart). Do not give these books to your eight year old. Maybe not even your twelve year old. Sixteen is probably good.
3) Septimus Heap
For all you people who want to introduce your kids/your sibling's kids/your friend's kids to reading, but don't know what to recommend to little kids who like fantasy now that Terfwizardry is a no go, let me introduce the better Special Boy Learns Magic Books! Septimus Heap is the seventh son of a seventh son, but he doesn't know that at first. These books have a fascinating magic system that actually makes sense, an entirely separate from real life setting, and actually healthy family relationships! I don't have a specific favourite book, but even though they're very much aimed at younger kids, I reread them recently and they hold up! They're cute and sweet and heartwarming and also the cover art is excellent. If you have kids age 5-12 in your life and you want them to enjoy books, but don't want to recommend Percy Jackson for the billionth time? Give them Septimus Heap! (Or Gregor the Overlander, my personal favourite Suzanne Collins series; it might actually be more depressing as an adult than The Hunger Games, and it is written for late elementary/middle school kids. Give your kids a really weird but good experience and opportunity to talk about the horrors of both war and capitalism, all surrounded by giant rats and bats and cockroaches who are your friends.)
4) Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre
Are these the same series? Not really, but they are in my heart; the Brontë's books in my mind are so intertwined that they can share a space. Its what they would have wanted probably. I am a miserable Gothic bitch at heart. Highschool Birb read these books pretty much on repeat, with occasional breaks for Jane Austen or Mary Shelley. In terms of a favourite, my heart lands just a little on the side of Wuthering Heights; I am a sucker for parallels and inescapable fates.
5) Madeleine L'Engle (cheating again)
There's quite a bit of JV/YA fic on this list; I think there are some brilliant books that are ignored because they were written specifically for children, and anything by Madeleine L'Engle is absolutely included in that list. A Wrinkle In Time, and the rest of the books about the Murry-O'Keefe's(The Kairos series), are the reason high school Birb bought three nonfiction but not textbook books on string theory, and another textbook. They are almost entirely the reason I have a grasp on Christianity - Madeleine L'Engle's particular flavour of faith is a beautiful thing, and she ties it so perfectly into an intensely sci-fi and scientific series. Her more slice of life series, the Chronos series, is definitively but obscurely tied into the more sci-fi Kairos, in ways that are wonderful to think about. As a high schooler, and even after coming out as trans, both Meg Murry and Vickie Austin really spoke to me, but I think my favourite book of all of them is A Swiftly Tilting Planet. There is something heartbreakingly hopeful in all of L'Engle's writing, but especially in the scenes of the Murry's waiting at home, together, hoping that they'll see the morning, and then doing so.

Pics: Just a small sampling of H. P. Lovecraft's influence on popular world culture...
1. There's stores now that only sell Lovecraftiana!! This is as amazing as the 1st stores that sold comics & related paraphernalia alone...
2. This would make for a great paper head on your personal website...
3 thru 5. Here we see the effects of more modern culture on Lovecraft's own ideas. An unholy melding of humor, madness & the commercial realms of the Peanuts, a now free Disney rat & (fittingly) sea monkeys!!
6. This 1 is a new ad - but, is it real?! Or, just another fever dream?!! I can't tell...
7. The long time coming - strange eons? - meld between the Great Old One & Victorian retro-stylings. Hoping for more to come...
Like say, an 'armed' (Heh) Cthulhu Pirate-King!!
Make it so...
8. Finally, the finality of the human race is on!
But, is it so?
Remember, everyone who can hear or even know about the Lovecraftian Truth of Reality... Goes Mad!!
So, I wouldn't be too quick to accept some mad dude's tale... There's no telling what's in his brain stem.
Remember, the original story was that we'd become 'like' the Great Old Ones! Free to know 'beyond' Good & Evil.
If that 'fate' has changed - then, any future possibility is possible...
1914: "End of the Jackson War."
Intro: When writing of HPL, writers use letters, essays & biographies about him. Even his stories can tell us much about his innermost being.
Taken together, this mass of info make Howard 1 of the most well documented fellows ever!
There seems to be few periods that we don't know something about Lovecraft's life.
Even during the "Lost Time" of HPL's retreat from society - as new info is always been discovered...
Researchers now know what books Lovecraft read, who he was with & what they spoke about.
They even know what flavor of ice cream Howard was eating & when!
A good example is how HPL never mentions James Dwyer's "City of the Unseen" published in the Argosy mag of December 1913.
It's not a good story, but, not only did Lovecraft read it, it's central image¹ reappeared in HPL's own later works.
We know Howard owned a copy of it, because this issue contains the 1st return volley in the weird Lovecraft/ Fred Jackson Letter War.
Which HPL had originally instigated in the earlier September 1913 issue of Argosy.
But, all things must pass...
In the end, Lovecraft wrote his War's epitaph. And he didn't use overlong or overblown language!
But, he did sneak in some martial terms...
Work: "Pray spare an inch or two², (to) print (these) critics's joint adieu."
"So long... since we began (this) fray, That readers swear we've (stolen) your Log³ away!"
"Forgive... sinners that presume. To fill with... verse⁴, such precious room."
"Inflamed by war & in... martial rage, We held awhile the center... stage."
"Til, blinded by... (such) furious fire, We battled on, forgetting to retire."
"But, (even) feuds draw... to their ends & foe(s) live to meet as friends:"
"So do we now... in lasting peace, Lay down our pens & slander(s) cease."
"What sound is this? ...A joyous yell, As we say farewell."
Notes:
1. Dwyer's "City of the Unseen" is a Lost Race story about an ancient city in the Arabian "Empty Quarter"!!
This sounds a lot like Howard's Irem! The City of Pillars that was swallowed by the sands of Araby!!
It was the lost city mentioned in the holy Koran... And, it might have been found - thru spy satellite footage!
2. This is about the measurement of column space given over to stories, pics & letters in newspapers, mags, etc...
In some cases, stories had to be cut in length, summarized or re-edited to fit the available space.
At the worst, the affected story would be 'saved' for later publication...
3. The "Log" was probably the name of the Argosy's letters page...
Some mags might also use a 2nd name like "Action Log", "Adventure Log" - even just "The Letters Log."
4. As mentioned in earlier posts, some letter writers used poetry to project their 'attacks' & to 'defend' each other.
And, Lovecraft was right in the middle of it all, slinging poetic barbs at Fred Jackson's writing skills...
It was this Letter War that brought HPL to the attention of the mighty UAPA.
More next time...

in this movie, our main character lionel's overprotective mother is bitten by a sumerian rat monkey while spying on him during a date, she becomes ill and dies, turning into a zombie. the movie goes absolutely off the rails from there.
content warnings under the read more!
content warning for a lot of gross stuff, lot of blood, etc (especially since everything is practical effects, it gets very goopy) this is considered one of the goriest movies ever, but it's a horror comedy, so it's more gross than scary. lots of comedy violence as well. also two zombies have sex and have a zombie child. a zombie's ear falls off into some custard... and the zombie eats her own ear... and there's an animal death, a dog is eaten by a zombie. tw for racism, it's pretty bad in some spots, i don't fucking know why peter jackson did that honestly. stereotypes of indigenous "savagery" in the opening and stereotypes of romani culture for our female heroine, paquita. i think that's most of it from off the top of my head.

Video
youtube
Bobby Explains... For all the people who have discovered me recently from the Never Get Ahead video currently posted on many blogs and on Youtube, here’s some facts you make be interested in:
1.  The video is from an unrehearsed live appearance on Chic-a-go-go in 1997 or 1998 (ten years ago, shit!). Chic-a-go-go is a brilliant children’s dance show on cable access here in Chicago; it’s sort of like American Bandstand or Soul Train, but for little kids. Every week there is a random collection of kids and parents dancing to pre-recorded tracks and usually there is a special guest from the independant music scene. The guest can be local or touring acts, ranging from totally obscure noise bands to bigger acts. There is no budget and no rehearsal; they usually shoot two or three episodes in about two hours. The host is a punk rock rat puppet named Ratso and his lovely partner, currently Miss Mia Park.
 2.  I was asked to do a tune, and as the song was Never Get Ahead, I re-cut the vocals to remove references to fellatio. It is a kids' show, after all. I recut the tune the night before and really didn’t have time to rehearse the lip sync. I figured my sync would be terrible, but didn’t care too much about fooling people into thinking it was live.
 3.  The original version of the tune is on my album Bobby Conn, available through Atavistic/Truckstop Records.  I think it is on iTunes, Amazon, etc. It’s my first album; please buy a copy as I haven’t seen any royalties from those people for a long time.  There is also a live version on my album Live Classics, Vol. 1 released on Thrill Jockey Records. It is considerably more rocking than the original, which may or may not be an improvement.
 4.  This video clip was voted Worst Video Ever in a VH1 contest and has been broadcast in the UK and Europe pretty consistently for the past ten years.
5.  The video was shot at 10am on a Saturday morning; I was not “coked out of my brain” as many people have suggested. If my performance seems exaggerated, well, perhaps you need to enjoy life a bit more.
6.  Micheal Jackson and motown are a huge inspiration for me, and I’m not embarassed to admit it. I’m not really ashamed of much, really.
 7.  The woman in the blue dress is my friend Emily; you can see clips of her playing bass in another tune on YouTube, Passover. The woman in the plaid skirt is Monica BouBou; you can see her in most of my videos as she has played violin with me for over ten years and is my partner in crime. I can guarantee any dude that is interested in Emily or anyone else in the video that they are not interested a scumbag like you. Everyone else in the video, all the kids, etc, are just random people who showed up that day. Obviously, many of them were confused by my antics.
8.  I am “for real.”  As in, I am a real person. Is my hair real in the video? Is that a measure of my integrity? These are all questions for you to think about, but frankly, I am amazed at how much people seem to care about these things. It’s a sign of progress that we have the time to debate such issues over the internet. I guess that means that the larger issues confronting humanity have been pretty much taken care of. Hallelujah!
9.  I have noticed that Americans have a harder time with sarcasm and irony that other cultures. We find sarcasm threatening in some way. I, on the other hand, find the emphasis on the illusion of integrity to be more frightening. The lyrics to the song both celebrate and mock political songwriting. The concept of 'the man' is a juvenile simplification of oppression. But the impulse behind it is still valid.
 10.  Finally, thanks for watching!  I am very proud of this video, as it captures almost everything I love in entertainment.  It is FUNNY, even ten years later!

Hey! What a surprise, that's awesome! My family needs to get it together haha we don't even have the tree up yet 🤦‍♀️ I see you're a writer, and that plus the library trip leads me to assume you're a reader? What're some of your favorite books? What are you currently reading? I like to read to! My favorite series is Lemony Snicket's All the Wrong Questions series, and I'm currently reading Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson.
I listened to Night at the Opera all the way through, and I liked it a lot! It has so many different colors and styles, and it was a really interesting listen! I really liked You're My Best Friend (which is one of favorite Queen songs all around), Death on Two Legs, and '39. The vocal stacking in The Prophet's Song was really cool, and I can't even imagine how long it must have taken to record and mix all that. It's super cool that your grandparents are bringing records! Original pressings are always the best :D I think you giving me recs is a good idea haha there defiantly is a lot! I'll look at the greatest hits, and let you know!
My favorite bands/artists are Elton John and The Beatles! I had sort of the same experience with Elton in terms of getting into him. I was familiar with some of his stuff and then all of a sudden I was obsessed haha With The Beatles, I knew a little bit, but I got really into them after watching the Get Back documentary with my mom.
I hope you have a good day :D
~ ✨
Honestly, don't worry about it. Last year we didn't have the tree up until about a week before Christmas 😂 I suppose I am technically a writer lol, although I haven't in a while. And you would be correct, I do love to read! Some of my favourite books are Flowers For Algernon, Good Omens, A Clockwork Orange, and 9 Billion Names of God. I like a lot of older sci-fi! Currently, I'm reading a book called The Mote in God's Eye. It's a really cool sci-fi book from 1974, it has a lot of amazing world building and politics in it. My dad has a huge collection of sci-fi he got in college in the 90s, and I'm really enjoying them! The cool thing is that he got a lot of them used, so the copy I'm currently reading is actually from 1974! :D
You're so right, there is a lot of variety in ANATO! That's something I like about Queen- because all the members had different writing styles and music tastes, their albums were really diverse! I love your song choices, I really like all of those. You're My Best Friend is a wonderful song- since you liked that, I'd say listen to You and I (it's on A Day at the Races). It was also written by John and is a bit more musically complex- I think it might be my favourite song from that album. Death on Two Legs is also a really good song. It has a lot of heavier rock elements, I think. For now, I recommend listening to Ogre Battle, Tie Your Mother Down, Modern Times Rock'n'Roll, Great King Rat, Flick of the Wrist, and Stone Cold Crazy. I'm so happy to hear you like '39! That's one of my favourite Queen songs of all time. Something I think is really interesting is that while Brian wrote a lot of Queen's heavier sounding rock songs, (in the 70s) he also fairly consistently had a sort of more quiet sounding song. Some of his more mellow ones are Some Day One Day, Long Away, Leaving Home Ain't Easy, Sail Away Sweet Sister, and All Dead All Dead. My apologies for giving you so many songs, although I do hope you find some you enjoy!
I haven't listened to too much Elton John music I must say. Some, of course, but I never really dived deeper into his discography. However, I do love The Beatles! I've been listening to them since I was very young, so I think some of their music also has that nostalgia factor. Funnily enough, I also watched Get Back with my mum! It was really interesting to see how all that happened.
I also hope you have the most wonderful day. Until next time, Sparkles! <3

These were my absolute favorite movies of 2021, in no particular order:
1. Vacation Friends—Tom Brady and Tyler Perry have great comedic chemistry in this laugh-out-loud rom-com vacation getaway gone awry. With Cameron Diaz and Whoopi Goldberg as Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. Cinematography by Annie Leibovitz.
2. Cruella—Disney does it again. All the Emmas of Hollywood team up in this villainous origin story in which Sharon Stone adopts a zombie brood of Dalmatians to help kick-start her own hair-care fashion line called “Lucky Scrunchies.” This movie has dog-lover’s pizza written all over it!
3. Jungle Cruise—John Cena and Kirsten Dunst go on a gay-friendly Disney “cruise” ravaged by zombie monkeys in the Brazilian rainforest. A hologram of Michael Jackson makes a cameo as Ronald McDonald in a Technicolor burlesque sequence at Radio City Music Hall (featuring the Muppets), while Chris Pratt and Chris Evans play evil twins manning an atomic submarine in pursuit of a rare anaconda unicorn that gets lost while shopping at Kohl’s. Oscar frontrunner for sure.
4. Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage—More sloppy seconds from Marvel!
5. Drive My Car—This 3-hour HD screensaver from Apple TV is a super-cut of all the most violent murder sequences from Grand Theft Auto: The Battle of Gay Tony. In Japanese with drag subtitles.
6. The Power of the Dog—Benji vs. Cujo in a vicious canine-with-rabies bloodbath from hell. With Kendall Roy as Darth Vader. Now streaming on The Humane Society +.
7. Spencer—A riveting psychological docu-drama in which Kristen Stewart loses a contact lens and spends half the film searching for it inside a palatial mansion. She meets a chiropractor named Spencer Tracy who gives her an “adjustment of a lifetime,” forever changing the course of the universe. Jaw-dropping costume design by a Sears catalog circa 1991.
8. Licorice Pizza—There’s something for everyone in this sci-fi scramble of Mystic Pizza meets Willy Wonka. Olivia Rodrigo stars as the matriarch of a hoard of child-trafficking Antifa vampires smuggling Covid-laced heroin into hospices across America as a plot to overthrow Big Lots. There’s also a show-stopping musical number starring a hologram of Philip Seymour Hoffman as the rat that dragged a slice of pizza up the escalator in that viral video from a few years ago.
9. Spiderman: No Way Home—Peter Parker gets off his meds, breaks up with Zendaya, and finds himself “psychologically ensnared” in Charlotte’s “web of deception.” A downward spiral ensues: meth binge, bankruptcy, a cameo on that TV show Hoarders, where Peter is fatally crushed by a mountain of National Geographic magazines he’s been collecting since first grade. Charlotte hatches a million spider babies who feast on Peter’s “radioactive” carcass and begin spinning a green “virtual-reality” web in the Simulated Matrix Metaverse, where A.I. Chinese Overlord.com takes control of the global marketplace, drinks Pepsi all day, gets diabetes, and has to have its legs surgically removed by Keanu Reeves, whose last words before the anesthesia kicks in are: “Let’s Scooby-Doo this mother.” Starring Elon Musk as Wilbur the Pig and Mark Zuckerberg as James Franco before #metoo. Directed by Satan.
10. Avatar 2—Another masterpiece from John Cameron Mitchell. The Smurfs get swole, drop acid and disembowel Gargamel’s cat Azrael, who comes back as a zombie and eats Vin Diesel’s face right off in a stunning cross-cut-mash-up with Jungle Cruise 2: The Wrath of John Candy. With Amy Schumer as Smurfette.
11. West Side Story—An exhilarating edge-of-your-seat 24-hour C-Span live-stream of Kim and Kanye’s divorce proceedings. Starring Poe from Star Wars and Nicole Kidman from Australia. Directed by a hologram of Ingmar Bergman, with stunning dogma-style cinematography by Karen from Central Park. Now streaming on Disney +.

The other night I was searching JSTOR for papers on 16th- and 17th-century German witch trials, as one does, when I came across this absolute showstopper of an abstract:
For 250 years insects and rodents accused of committing property crimes were tried as legal persons in French, Italian, and Swiss ecclesiastic courts under the same laws and according to the same procedures used to try actual persons. I argue that the Catholic Church used vermin trials to increase tithe revenues where tithe evasion threatened to erode them. Vermin trials achieved this by bolstering citizens' belief in the validity of Church punishments for tithe evasion: estrangement from God through sin, excommunication, and anathema. Vermin trials permitted ecclesiastics to evidence their supernatural sanctions' legitimacy by producing outcomes that supported those sanctions' validity. These outcomes strengthened citizens' belief that the Church's imprecation were real, which allowed ecclesiastics to reclaim jeopardized tithe revenue.
ME: THEY WHAT?
Needless to say, I had to click this paper, whereupon I passed in the course of several pages from wondering whether this was a really elaborate joke published in Chicago University's Journal of Law and Economics to literally crying with laughter:
Everyone has heard of a kangaroo court. But how about a court for kangaroos? What about a court for caterpillars? Impossible though it seems, for 250 years French, Italian, and Swiss legal systems had just that. Their ecclesiastic courts tried insects and rodents for property crimes according to the same procedures used to try legal persons. These courts summoned snails to answer charges of trespass, appointed legal counselors to locusts, and considered defenses for grasshoppers on the grounds that they were God's creatures. They convinced cockchafers of cozening crops, fulminated against field mice for filching from farmers, and exiled weevils under pain of excommunication and anathema.
Vermin trials were not the province of Dark Age ignorance or impoverished primitivism. They were of a much later, more enlightened vintage—a Renaissance one. Further, they occurred in the wealthiest countries in the world.
One interpretation of vermin trials is that the judicial officials who conducted them were mad. In examining these trials' records, it is tempting to conclude as much. In the records, we find distinguished judges ordering crickets to follow legal instructions, dignified jurists negotiating a settlement between farmers and beetles, and a decorous court granting a horde of rat defendants a continuance on the grounds that some cats prevented them from attending their trial.
-
[3] This paper considers ecclesiastic trials of vermin only. It does not consider the prosecution of domestic animals, such as dogs in pigs, in secular courts. For information on trials of domestic animals, which is often mixed with discussions of vermin trials, see Evans (1906) and Finkelstein (1981). For information on trials of inanimate objects, which is also occasionally mixed with discussions of animal trials, see Hyde (1916, 1917a, 1917b) and Pietz (1997). For information on animal trials under Roman law, see Jackson (1978).
This is so much absurdist litigation.
Early modern citizens' knowledge of pests and how to control them was poor. A perusal of pest control manuals used by professional farmers reveals just how poor. State-of-the-art Renaissance pesticides included sprinkling weasel ashes or water in which a cat had been bathed over fields to drive away mice; capturing a rodent, castrating it, and releasing it among other rodents to deter them; putting castor oil plants in afflicted fields to drive away moles; and hanging garlic around flock leaders' necks to protect sheep from wolves.[4]
[...]
Thus, it is unsurprising that, together with the other impressive remedies noted above, early modern farmers considered the ecclesiastical trial of vermin as a possible pesticide. Indeed, early modern pest control manuals explicitly advised farmers to use divine pesticide when confronted with difficult-to-resolve infestations. As one manual put it, "When all of these remedies are unsuccessful, one must turn to the ban of the Church" (Dannenfeldt 1982, p. 555).
Early modern citizens' divine-pesticide superstition is still less surprising when one considers the superstitions held by Europe's intellectual elite during the same period. These individuals held, for example, that the continent was infested by witches who had intercourse with demons and sole men's genitals while the men slept. When compared with this belief, simple farmers' belief that god might be able to exterminate pests is unremarkable.
[4] Early modern manuals contain a few pest control methods that are more sensible, for example, poison. But even these display incredible ignorance. One suggests using butter to poison rats.
-
Multiple communities beset by the same pests sometimes sued vermin collectively. For instance, in 1659 the Italian communes of Chiavenna, Mese, Gordona, Prada, and Samolico banded together to prosecute caterpillars they charge with trespassing on and damaging their fields.
A class action against caterpillars!!!
Ecclesiastic courts appointed defense attorneys to represent accused insects and rodents. Thus, when in 1519 the inhabitants of Glurns, Italy, sued some field mice for property damage, the court appointed legal counsel for the mice "to the end that they may have nothing to complain of in these proceedings" (Evans 1906, p. 112). Similarly, later that century, when the inhabitant of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, France, sued some weevils, the court appointed the creatures two legal representatives, a procurator and an advocate, "lest the animals against whom the action lies should remain defenseless" (Cohen 1993, p. 120).
Ecclesiastic judges showed impressive fairness towards vermin in such trials. Consider a fourteenth-century lawsuit brought against some flies by the inhabitants of Mainz, Germany. To the court's consternation, the flies refused to appear before the bench after being summonsed. The court concluded that "in consideration of their small size and the fact that they had not yet reached their majority," it would overlook the flies' failure to appear and would appoint them adequate defense counsel to prevent it from happening again (Evans 1906, pp. 110-11).
AAAAA
The lawyers representing vermin argued strenuously for their clients at trial. A common defense was that the defendants were God's creations. Thus, they had as much right to enjoy the fruit of His earth as the plaintiffs. Another common defense was that the case was invalid. Thus, the plaintiffs should be nonsuited.
One argument that vermin defense attorneys made towards this end was that their clients were vermin (Evans 1906, pp.98-99). This would have been a sensible argument against treating pests as legal persons—presumably the most sensible one—were it not offered by way of elaborate judicial proceedings that presumed the legitimacy of treating grasshoppers and moles as legal persons ipso facto.[6]
Procurators on both sides "took their job very seriously, devoting a great deal of time, knowledge, and legal expertise to the defense of their clients" (Cohen 1993, p.120). Vermin trials involved much legal wrangling. And judges at least pretended to be at great pains to decide cases justly.
[6] According to Chassenée (1531), another legal manuever [sic] attorneys for vermin resorted to was to argue that their clients were clerics, which entitled the vermin to the benefit of clergy. This would have permitted insects and rodents to have an ecclesiastic judge decide their case when the bishop granted jurisdiction to a secular magistrate (Evans 1906, pp.32-33). No vermin counselor ever used this argument. Still, the possibility that caterpillars or field mice might be men of the cloth was an argument the courts were willing to entertain.
By this point I was actually wheezing. Quoth a friend, accurately, upon being sent this excerpt: "???????????????? / The biggest, longest question mark of my life" ME FUCKING TOO
[7] Vermin often lost their case by default. Judges summoned vermin to appear in court to answer the charges against them three times. "The summoners were . . . served in the usual way by an officer of the court, reading them at the places most frequented by the animals" (Jamieson 1988, p. 51). If the vermin failed to respond to the third and final summons, the court could convict them.
-
To ensure that all members of the convicted species were aware of their sentence, the court announced the its verdict publictly and nailed broadsheets declaring its judgement to trees in the affected area. Alternatively, the court might bright some specimens before the bench to inform them of its decision, remitting the creatures to the afflicted area to share the decision with their colleagues (Dinzelbacher 2002, p. 410).
PLEASE!!!
TL;DR this whole paper was just such an experience, thank you god and the University of Chicago, I've never laughed so much in the course of reading an academic publication in my life, well-researched this is not but imagine submitting this paper with a straight face, this man has won academia

Tag Game
rules: tag a few people you want to know better; make a new post, don’t reblog!
Thanks for the tag @journen!!! Lets see if I don’t lose this to the abyss in my drafts
Currently reading: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller. I have literally only read the intro and the first few pages, and I get the feeling its going to take me a year to read it. I don’t want it to, because I really love Kanera and I want to see how they got their start! I am considering doing like a live reading on discord or something over the summer, just so I can set aside time to just read with friends but we’ll see how that goes.
Last Song: Honestly I don’t remember. It might have been Killer Queen by Queen, or Maybe Don’t by Maise-
no wait
it was Escape from the City from Sonic Adventure 2. I was listening to it on the way home after seeing the Sonic movie again. Look I adore that movie, and when you’re driving out a huge busy city to go home out of town, City Escape is the thing that plays on loop
Last Movie: Sonic the hedgehog 2- Guys I promise it was a really fun movie. If you enjoyed the games at any point in time, the movie is a delight. If you liked parks and rec, theres even a little reference for that. Its just a fun movie
Last Series: Like tv series or book series? It took me 3 years to finally pick up and finish one book, so I’m gonna chose to list a tv series lol. Aggretsuko was probably the last show I watched and really paid attention to. I think its a fun adult cartoon. It doesn’t rely on profanity or like the normal adult humor to show that is an adult cartoon. As a young 20 something year old woman, the show makes TOO MUCH sense. Its definitely one of my comfort shows
Sweet, spicy, or savoury?: Savoury! I really like sweets. I mean I really like sweets, but I will make myself sick if I eat too many. Same thing with spicy foods. I have to be really picky about spicy things. But I like things with a lot of flavor. I like to eat things that make me feel like the rat from Rataouille when he mixes he food for the first time lol
Coffee or Tea: Tea! My favorite is a pomegranate black tea, or just plain green tea.
Three Ships: Valor or Thorkyrie. (I’m not sure what people are calling it, personally I like Valor), Kanera, and Sukka
Look I have character types that I really enjoy, and a specific type of pairing that I really like, but this post is long enough as it is...if anyone is curious I’ll write something on it later.
First ship: Thats a hard one really, like a ship I liked before I knew what shipping was or like a ship I liked that I actively talked about once I started doing fandom things? The former was probably Mulan/Shang and latter probably Percabeth from the Percy Jackson series.
Currently working on: Answering this ask- jkjkjk I’m trying to redo my start of chapter 2 for White Lie, because I reread it and its a little TOO much of Obi-Wan questioning himself. I think I’m just gonna put a strike through in some of what I have and instead try to focus on the world building. This is a planet he nor Anakin have been to, so I felt it would be slightly more appropriate to focus on their POV, and then later describe the same place from Sas’ POV because she lives there and so I can naturally build contrast in world views. I don’t know I might be over thinking it, but its giving me writer’s paralysis
Favourite Piece of Clothing: That depends...No it doesn’t Its my Unus Annus Hoodie, and some comfy leggings I have. I am a creature of comfort and those things are so soft and warm and welcoming-
Tumblr media
Comfort food: Grilled cheese. My mom used to make it for me a lot when I was little. Whenever I had a rough time at university, I usually tried to find a way to make myself grilled cheese.
Fav time of year: Fall! I’m from Texas though, so really it just means “less hot” I just like it because again, its cooler, but also I can wear my hair down without worrying about it poofing out
Fav Fanfiction: Okay I will literally never stop talking about this fanfic because ITS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, I GO BACK TO READ IT ALL THE TIME.  Its called Better Latte Than Never on Ao3 by FunnelFatale. Its my absolute favorite fanfic, its something I can finish in one sitting but has really good emotional development and spans a couple of months.
There was another padawan!Obi-Wanxreader fic here I stumbled across, that was based on The Chicks' Traveling soldier- it HURT me and I regret not reblogging or saving it at the time and I've been wanting to read that one again.
