A small detail I like that seemed to get overlooked by a lot of people: Moon wasn't trying to keep the lights off to hurt Sun or to hurt children, he wanted to keep them off, because in his corrupted state, light was causing him PAIN! Rebooting them into Eclipse didn't JUST help Sun, we helped Moon, too! All THREE are good bots, your honor and I love them and GHDASJGhj

Yes i agree! I think in the main game it was definitely virus related (since the flashlight, the laser gun and fazcam does nothing against him) but in the DLC its gotten to the point where he has become hyper sensitive to light (either due to the virus still scrambling his brains or the damage both have sustained since or a combination of both) and so it causes him a lot of pain when exposed to it.

If we look at his two jumpscares also, the one where neither generators have been turned on he grabs Cassie and flies up in the air with her but doesn't outright display any overly violent behaviour so one could almost assume he does try to take her to naptime and maybe drops her in the process (accidently or intentionally is anyones guess)

But when one generator is turned on he is now in greater pain and aggravated so when Cassie approaches him he is far more unstable and lashes out in anger and frustration, especially when Sun also tries forcing him back in.

I do love to think Moon is not intentionally malicious/evil but with his coding scrambled by the virus and neglect and Sun actively fighting him parred with hyper sensitivity to light and both quite possibly being in a near constant state of pain i don't blame him for being so aggressive.

Rebooting him would have reset the messed up coding and helped bring Moon back to a more stable state and while i doubt it would completely fix them mentally (trauma goes brr) at least he and Sun have been brought some peace at last and made whole again. ;;v;;

I mentioned this photo before in another ask about whether Vessel is a cat or dog person. Tbh I think about that ask waaay too much for how inconsequential it was, because I went with him being a dog person.

This also half-spurred a brainworm of mine on a post about Vessel's old mask having mesh over the eyes. My "research" was inconclusive, but I'd bet he had mesh on the half mask he wore on stage and not the full mask he used in photographs.

(its the second time they meet, and even tho essek expects it he still chokes on his spit and how forward she is). shes also incredibly nosey about esseks health, given she is in the medical field directly herself, which essek both hates and finds refreshing (its so much easier to explain his health to someone who has the bg knowledge)

- veth: immediately shovel talks essek, then basically adopts him when essek gets all prim and proper and politely mean "id like to see you try" and veth is like okay youve got teeth you can protect my boy too im counting on you heres a toddler (luc is delighted by esseks ability to make things float and essek is delighted by the fond looks he gets from caleb over veths shoulder)

- fjord: dubious at first but warms up to essek when essek relaxes enough to join razzing caleb. definitely warns essek about the impending pegging offer from jester, promises to distract her if shes overwhelming

- caduceus: is the one to spot essek flagging at the neins holiday party, sits with essek as caleb is distracted catching up with the rest of his friends as quiet company "its good to see him happy"

Robo/otter for the ship ask thing bc I’m kinda slightly obsessed with the way that you write them about them in fics/tags and this way you have to say more stuff. (Insert evil laughter)

god this is almost too open ended ........ my brain is exploding with everything i could say about their vibes & why they work for me as much as they do. this is really like. the essayiest essay of all of these so it is MOSTLY under the cut & i hope it appeases your evil laughter <3

i think the basis of the appeal of them for me is the same of any ship you build up out of people in the same draft class — whether you're looking at preexisting besties who get broken up or strangers who become insanely important to each other in an instant, there's a very real hand-of-fate quality there & that makes everything about the 2017 draft class in particular feel kind of fairy tale.

and otter is SO aware of it. they both give insane quotes about each other on the reg & have since their rookie season (the fact that it's Their Rookie Season is both another point & part of the same point; like, that was also tydel's rookie season, but also, he's not part of their conversation yk?) but otter especially is always talking about how happy he is that robo plays in dallas with him & how he hopes he continues to never have to play against him, etc etc etc.

otter's almost ...... intensely introspective. like, his quotes on the podcast he did for pavs' company about wishing he could go back & play just one more game with every old team of his are insane. BUT both of them have spent soooo much time this season talking about how they still look at each other as the same guy they came up with in the ahl which gives me absolute brainworms. i think it really started in earnest w media asking robo about otter at the all star weekend, but then they both had carte blanche to keep talking about growing up together & how they don't look at each other any different now.

they're both just so aware of the narrative & their respective places in it (otter always calling himself the best & his teammates the best as a way of shouldering his own high expectations; robo always tempering people's praise of him by calling out his weaknesses & what he does to offset them; etc etc etc). BUT they both seemed to have readily accepted that they come as a package deal, narratively, which i just think is the height of romance in sports. agreeing that you come as a duo with someone ..... that you shouldn't be separated ....... that you've been together for long enough that the other person's changes simply do not register .............. Peak Romance!!

when robo finally got a contract signed last season, the first thing he did was change his pfp to a pic of him embracing otter & looking at things from a shipping lens it's like. well obviously. to both of them, being part of this team means being together. all other vibes can be built from there.

there's also other less Foundational aspects of their vibe that really work imo!!

like obviously they're both different flavors of weird-normal, which i love. they're both so proud of being Normal Guys but it's clear that they are also, yk. freaks. i think they should be freaks together because they're obviously complimentary flavors of freak. also the jakey nickname!! i know a lot of the guys use that for otter now but robo started it. razor even called out that jakey was a robo-ism. that their love language is being assholes to each other at practice is so fun. robo's just obsessed w goalies & i think it was soooo nice of jim nill to draft a lil freak goalie at the same time as him so they could just be a matched set forever.

1. Dean. Dean hides everything, he absorbs it, he keeps going because that's what he was taught to do

2. Sam. Sam's anger driven, and emotional, and more importantly, gets so little choice in anything, and is always just Fucked. good exploration of this dynamic, but unfortunately, it got written of as "eh it'll be fine," which strangely enough I don't think this was the point.

3. hunting BAD. Like this was very clearly a "how hunting fucks you up" thing, or how you have to be fucked up to do it, and how they'll end up crazy like that. Like this is so much Not Escapism I'm so confused by the message, it was a different writer probably.

4. ok but like cinematpgraphy was good and parts of this were like...ironically funny

5. the baddy was fun! like obvious but her villain speech was good, she was scary, there was logic for the crazy brain even! it was cool!
