Elvis, you little devil! Look at him, slowly turning his face towards the girl, almost as if he knew his gaze would be enough to get a big reaction out of her. Unsatisfied, he did it again to other fans close by. The very next moment. He was a master in manipulating his audience. El knew what he had to do, when and how.
By the way... I can understand why girls screamed so easily. First, it's a natural reaction of fans, of course. Secondly, Elvis was... breathtakingly handsome. Getting a look like this from that guy must have felt extremely intimidating. There's a clear difference >>> Elvis glancing at you: "Aww he looked my way! Please do it again." x Elvis gazing at you: *knees immediately feeling weak, body shivering, quietly panicking* "Help! Help! Help! Why he's staring at me? Why he keeps staring at ME?? I can't breathe! Somebody, make him stop looking at me this way right now! Holy mother of...! I feel my soul leaving my body... I-I'm..." *swoon*

Hi Elvis Besties! I apologize for the big hiatus, I'm on a difficult part of my life and I just don't have my mind in this, but I think of all of you frequently.
Yesterday I was working in my restaurant, having a really horrible day, and on top of that, I was with a stupid coworker who was like "can I give you an adviceeee" (And proceed to say the most obvious stupid thing ever with an annoying Muppet voice) and I was just sweeping the floor, trying to breathe when you know what? Elvis came on the stereo. All shook up to be specific, one of my favorites.
It was like him putting his hand on my shoulder and saying "It's alright darling"
Elvis never plays in my work so it was amazing, because we don't choose the music, it's a corporate thing.
So yeah, that was cool 🤍

All Shook Up
You Eat Yet? | Masterlist | You Got a Minute?
Pairing: Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto x Reader
Rating: M (though it may have explicit chapters in the future)
Notes: Welcome back! I hope y’all are having a nice week!❣️ Also no worries, there’s another chapter incoming, it just doesn’t have a name yet.
Warnings: ...Angst. Soz. Stubborn reader.
Summary: The other three drinks you’re tasked with presenting have to be abso-fuckin-lutely on point. And for better or for worse, getting it right becomes a bit of an obsession. And you can go with a couple of standards that you’ve had, but you want one to be just yours.
Tumblr media
Mack frames it as a trial—as if he’s never seen your specials bring in money. Still, it’s a step in the right direction—a show of interest, and a sign that he wants to bring Barky’s into the 21st fucking century.
So you start fiddling with recipes when you’re home. You already know you’re going to put the slow gin fizz up for consideration. It’s a little time-consuming, sure, but considering how much it paid out the last time it was on the menu, you can justify it to Mack.
The other three drinks you’re tasked with presenting have to be abso-fuckin-lutely on point. And for better or for worse, getting it right becomes a bit of an obsession. And you can go with a couple of standards that you’ve had, but you want one to be just yours.
--
“Babe,” Carmy groans from your couch.
“...What?” You call back after a moment.
“C’mere, c’mon. Siddown.”
“In a minute.”
You hear Carmy sigh, then grunt again as he pushes himself off to stand.
“You said that twenty minutes ago.”
Your eyes are set on the shaker as you add some vodka to the shaker. One…Two…Pop! You draw the bottle away with a jerk of your wrist, setting it aside and reaching for the cinnamon. Your hand hesitates over the container, eyes narrowing slightly before you shake your head a bit to yourself. Add that to the rum, if anything…Or you could try a cinnamon syrup…Cinnamon syrup, that would be better. You turn, crouching down and beginning to rifle through your cabinet for a small pot.
"Babe."
“...Yeah? No, this’ll only take me like, less than ten minutes,” You reassure, straightening up. “I’ll be there in a bit.”
Carmy doesn’t answer. Or—well, maybe he does, but you’re in your head, getting down the cinnamon sticks and sugar.
--
It has been at least an hour. Your head is killing you, you’re tired, and your eyes are crossing—but you’ve got it down, you know you’ve got it down.
“Can you come here and try this?” You call out. Your kitchen smells heavenly—sugary and light, with only a mingling of alcohol under it. You glance over as you hear the floor creak.
“C’mere, take a sip,” You urge. Carmy takes a few steps closer. He takes hold of the proffered glass. You watch, stomach tingling with anticipation as he takes a whiff, processes, then takes a sip. You bite your lips, brows raising as he hesitates, then swallows.
“Good?” You ask, nodding, “Right?”
“...Yeah,” He agrees…But he says it in a way that doesn’t seem like he quite buys it. Your brows lower and furrow, a frown taking over your lips.
“What?” You ask, immediately defensive. “What’s wrong with it?”
“Nothing is wrong with it,” Carmy insists, peering down between the glass and your face. “It’s just…It’s too much.”
“What?”
“It’s too sweet.”
“Oh—Please,” You scoff. “That’s such a guy thing to say. What, you don’t like it, 'cause it's a girly drink?"
“No! I did not say that. It just—It needs something to balance it. A few dashes of bitters.”
“Oh, sure,” You scoff, turning from him, “Thanks, great advice from someone that’s not a bartender.”
“I may not be a bartender, but I know how to create a flavor profile that fucking works.”
“Yeah, you know what, great. Thanks for the feedback,” You agree dryly, beginning to clean your counter before looking at Carmen. He watches you with an almost blank cruelty, eyes searching your face.
“You don’t think I know what the fuck I’m talking about.”
“When’s the last time you drank a sandwich, Berzatto.”
The two of you stare one another down icily before Carmy wordlessly slams the drink down on the counter, the remaining liquid sloshing over the side before he turns. He shakes the few drops that landed on his hand off as he heads for the door. You don’t stop him; you just stare at the back of his head as he goes, irritation roiling through you. “Some bitters,” You scoff to yourself as the door slams shut behind him. “Some bitters.” You take a sip of the drink, hesitate, then turn away. You start making the drink again, grumbling all the while.
“Tell me to add some bitters, like someone made him the fucking king of fucking bartending—bitters. Guy learns one fucking thing at smart guy chef school and thinks he can do my job better.” You add bitters to the shaker before slap the top on it. You take it up, shaking it with a renewed vitriol. You strain it into a fresh glass.
“Add some bitters, like he’s got a perfect fucking pallet, like he knows—” You pause in your rant to raise the glass to your lips. You take a sniff and go still, stomach flipping with fear. But—No. No. This is your area of expertise. You know what you're talking about—he doesn't.
You take a sip and you…Freeze.
Goddamnit. Fuck. Fuck—
You spit it into the sink, pouring out the rest of the mixture and dropping the glass as you hiss:
“Son of a bitch!”

Gnomeo and Juliet are both garden gnomes caught up in the feud of who has a better garden, Gnomeo's owner Mr. Montague or Juliet's owner, Miss Capulet. But they'll make their romance work even if none of the other garden gnomes get along.
I think this is a really well done way to adapt the story where quite a few characters die for children to understand the main story points without full commitment to the tragic side. Also, every one who is anyone in this is amazing! The Friar, Nurse, and Paris steal many scenes. And the epic battle at the end with the lawn mowers?!?! love it. Plus, William Shakespeare does make a bit of an appearance.
Natalie, a girl from a small midwestern town in the 1950s which has essentially outlawed having fun, becomes infatuated with Chad, a rockin’-rollin’ Elvis parody of a motorbiker who can fix broken jukeboxes just by touching them. Natalie, after initially failing to capture his attention, pretends to be a man named Ed, becoming Chad’s designated male ”sidekick.”(He says he always needs one in every town he visits.) Meanwhile, Chad chases after another woman named Sandra, who, in a misunderstanding, becomes infatuated with Ed. Natalie’s best friend is also in love with her, and there’s a forbidden romance plotline between the son of the mayor and a regular town girl. (they’re usually portrayed as an interracial relationship, but apparently that’s not actually true of every production?) There’s a lot going on. Also, it’s an Elvis jukebox musical!
It's an incredibly queer love story (as evidenced by Chad, who has fallen in love with Ed, immediately leaving town when he realised Ed is actually Natalie) set to the songs of Elvis! What more could you want 😌
I love the decision to not have Chad and Natalie (Orsino & Viola) get together, and the bait-and-switch of having the audience root for them, literally having a bit where the audience is meant to shout that YOURE IN LOVE WITH ED (Cesario) !!!! at him (played off, of course, as a gay joke), with the expectation being that he’s only confused because Ed is Secretly A Woman, ONLY TO HAVE HIM REJECT NATALIE AT THE END BECAUSE HE WAS ONLY IN LOVE WITH ED?? Iconic. Incredible. Life-changing to see as an eight-year-old (mere months after seeing Twelfth Night for the first time). And then ALSO having Natalie say that her one true love is actually road trips ?? after Chad proposes to her ?? ICONIC. this musical has its flaws but my god I love it so much. also the Dennis/Lorraine plotline, even though it isn’t pulled anywhere from the original text, is adorable. “Forbidden love is the best. Did you ever read Romeo and Juliet? Theirs was a forbidden love, and it was the dreamiest story ever.” “Oh! How does it end?” “Not good! Wanna dance?” Delightful musical. Love it.

Like a triangle, but crazier
Pretty sure it was something like this
-Dennis loves Natalie -Natalie loves Chad -Chad loves Sandra -Jim loves Sandra -Dean and Lorraine love each other -Sandra loves Ed(Natalie pretending to be a boy) -Chad loves Ed(Natalie pretending to be a boy) -Sylvia loves Jim -Matilda and Earl love each other -Jim and Sylvia love each other -Dennis and Sandra love each other -Chad and Natalie love each other(but Chad wants Natalie to dress up as Ed now and then)

I just saw a local production of All Shook Up, and please tell me why a jukebox musical from 2004 has a man fall in love with another man??? (to be fair the other man is a woman pretending to be a man, but the man (chad) doesn’t know that) I unironically love this show now and there’s no fandom for it :((( Chad and Ed forever 🫡🫡🫡

The Elvis Tribute concert, All Shook Up, was awesome!!! I loved it so much. If any of you have the chance, definitely go!!! I was smiling the whole time! The highlight of my trip :-)
He even did Elvis’ laugh and was so sweet afterward when I took a picture with him, how I imagine Elvis would have been too. They even did Teddy Bear and Return to Sender!
I wish I could have gone again the next night!

Elvis: The Musical- a review by Lauren Avila
Tumblr media
It would seem that the public has a renewed Burnin’ Love for Elvis Presley, without an end in sight. Between the recent Netflix premiere of “Agent Elvis,” Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar-nominated film “Elvis,” and ongoing tourism at Graceland, there is an unquenchable thirst for the King of Rock n’ Roll. Now there is a new way to enjoy the legend and his music. Elvis: The Musical made its West Coast premiere this month and has enjoyed a completely sold out run! The bad news is that the curtain will come down in California very soon. However, this same version will be making its Australian debut later this year!
I managed to get a ticket to a daytime performance where, even in the middle of the day, people flocked to the East Sonora Theater to see Elvis in the building. This show tells the rise of the “kid that changed the world.” Playing the man, the myth, and the legend was Taylor Rodriguez. This was not the first time walking a mile in the blue suede shoes for this performer though. According to his credits, he “has had the honor of performing in many musical productions including the Million Dollar Quartet where he starred as Elvis Presley. In 2017 he was named One of the Top 5 Elvis Tribute Artist in the world. In June of 2019, he was crowned the 2019 Tupelo Elvis Festival Champion. Recently, Taylor Rodriguez was named The 2019 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion by Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE).” As you might expect from an introduction like that, Taylor really captures the voice and the moves of Elvis.
The story begins with a nervous Elvis, waiting to go onstage for his career-changing, 68’ Comeback Special. He faces his younger self, in the form of an adorable 11-year old actor named Asher Berg. Kid Elvis asks him, “What are you doing?” In the midst of this self-reflection, the audience embarks on a journey throughout the life of both young Elvis and Elvis, the icon. The show was comprised of a very strong supporting cast! Personally, I’ve seen Broadway shows, touring companies, regional productions, and community theater. I have found that many times the supporting cast can make or break a show. In this case, they truly contributed to an entertaining afternoon. Major standouts include Christopher Michael, Elizabeth Harlen, Olivia Marie Jones, Sage Spiker, Taylor Tveten, and Dedrick Weathersby. They had the kind of stage presence that made you pay attention to them. Perhaps it was a million watt smile, the passion of a southern Reverend, the excitement of a radio DJ in the 50’s, the corniness of a tv announcer in the 60’s, or even a lovestruck Priscilla.
The book comes from Sean Cercone and David Abbinanti who were wise enough to include all the major players in Elvis’ life, the hits you want to hear, and lines that make you think and feel. I really enjoyed the Jersey Boys-like template that many shows tend to follow these days. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? There were poignant moments of heartbreak, light-hearted points of humor that sparked genuine laughter, and even audience interaction that only an Elvis show could truly justify.
Spoiler warning: My favorite parts included the build up to “That’s Alright,” the interaction of Elvis with the front row during his appearance on The Frank Sinatra Show, the compilation of Elvis making his movies, and all the scenes of Kid Elvis and Adult Elvis.
Considering that this show was put on by a local theater company, I was impressed by the visuals. The set was a modest bi-level stage, encompassed by a Vegas-like semi-circle opening. Vinyl records were mounted to the walls on either side of the stage too. The stage’s projection screen added an immersive element, from spinning records to playing background for Elvis’s movies. The band was present onstage throughout, very convenient since they also doubled as Elvis’ actual bandmates. Unfortunately, power outage problems did occur several times but once again I must commend these professionals for not missing a beat. Strange things are, in fact, happening every day!
I must conclude by highlighting Taylor’s performance. Both his speaking and singing voice were very similar to the hip-swinging musician we all know and love. He accompanied himself on guitar. He pulled off all the moves that history has tied to Elvis. He convinced the audience enough of his character that the women were swooning over him by the time he was interacting with (and kissing) them.
All that said, I will say that the show itself may need to be shook up a bit before hitting the stage again. My biggest problem is that there were hardly any solutions for each storyline and character introduced. If you’re looking for trouble, you may find it in the structure of this show. I came out of it feeling like I was missing something. I believe though, with all the potential that Elvis: The Musical has, it can be a hit. Check out this preview below:
