HIV and the Journey Toward Zero Part 1 from Journey Towards Zero on Vimeo.
"HIV and the Journey Toward Zero" sparks important conversations around the end of the HIV epidemic. What does “the end” mean for those who have been there from the start, those living with HIV today and those leading the way to an HIV-free future?
"HIV and the Journey Toward Zero" spotlights the perspective of some of Chicago’s most prominent activists. The film is presented in partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health, Tessa Films and local community organizations. Join us as we hear from long-term survivors, newly diagnosed individuals, clinicians, researchers and community leaders — the voices that, together, can make HIV history.

The Expanse season six came out swinging.  “Strange Dogs” was almost the perfect reintroduction.  We see the stress amongst the crew of the Roci, we see Filip beginning his spiral, we see Marcos’ grand plan beginning to unravel before it even begins, and we get crushed by what’s happening with Drummer.
It moved the plot along while really giving character enough time to show through.
The crew fractured and on-edge after Alex’s death makes sense.  Every time they have to do something that Alex normally would have done -- like Naomi having to fly the ship -- just reminds them over and over again that he’s gone.  This makes Clarissa even harder to accept than she is on her own, because the timing sets her up as a ‘replacement’ for him and they can’t accept that.
The Belter Family not being able to hold up well also makes sense, although I’m not so sure I would have laid it on so thick with “Michio isn’t cut out for this”.  She was operating as a pirate for months before they were ever drafted into the Free Navy, so it’s not like she was living a quiet civilian life beforehand.  But this isn’t really a problem, and it works anyway.   Constant stress wears you down in an entirely different way than brief periods of high pressure, so her nerves manifesting now instead of then is still believable.  Seeing her cry when she is dumped -- because that’s what it is -- hurt more than seeing the rocks fall last season.
Filip is downright unsettling.  When he was having sex with that girl -- I don’t think we ever got her name -- I was uncomfortable.  I actually paused for a moment and wondered why this scene bothered me more than all of the violence we see, and I realized that this is violence.  This is Filip’s anger and hate manifesting, and she may be willing, but if she wasn’t....like we saw with him later, if she wasn’t willing then he wouldn’t have stopped.  Without Anderson Dawes here to serve as an opponent to Inaros, Filip shooting his friend instead of a security officer was probably the right adaptation.
The only serious criticism I will make is the offhand mention of the death of Anderson Dawes after Inaros got fed up with him.  I get that they probably couldn’t get Jared Harris back if they tried, since even if he could have found time in his schedule the cost would likely have been too high.  But Dawes had such an integral role in this storyarc in Babylon’s Ashes and such a vital presence on Ceres Station in the earlier seasons of the TV show that it comes across as lazy and cheap.  Even cheaper than Alex’s stroke.  I would have preferred somebody like Captain Shadid from season one showing up to speak for him, referencing him as being busy just off-screen, so we can pretend that he’s still around.
I hope the rest of the series can keep this momentum going.
