Mixed feelings about giving money to a slave owners house, but at least they put a lot of focus on the former enslaved #charleston #southcarolina (at Aiken-Rhett House Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cee_oOaur3k/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

There’s something enchanting about the way the Aiken-Rhett House is frozen in time. The preserved-as-found 1820’s Historic House has peeling wallpaper, cracked baseboards and chipping paint. It also has the evidence of how many decades - and centuries - this House has survived.
With its unique beauty, the house has been the visual inspiration for photographers and artists, alike. Local photographer and author, Susan Sully, @susan.sully captured the Aiken-Rhett’s details in these images.
